8An Architecture for Software Engineering Gamification显示文摘Gamification has been applied in software engineering to improve quality and results by increasing people’s motivation and engagement.A systematic mapping has identified research gaps in the field,one of them being the difficulty of creating an integrated gamified environment comprising all the tools of an organization,since most existing gamified tools are custom developments or prototypes.In this paper,we propose a gamification software architecture that allows us to transform the work environment of a software organization into an integrated gamified environment,i.e.,the organization can maintain its tools,and the rewards obtained by the users for their actions in different tools will mount up.We developed a gamification engine based on our proposal,and we carried out a case study in which we applied it in a real software development company.The case study shows that the gamification engine has allowed the company to create a gamified workplace by integrating custom-developed tools and off-the-shelf tools such as Redmine,TestLink,or JUnit,with the gamification engine.Two main advantages can be highlighted:(i)our solution allows the organization to maintain its current tools,and(ii)the rewards for actions in any tool accumulate in a centralized gamified environment.Oscar Pedreira Felix Garcia Mario Piattini Alejandro Cortinas Ana Cerdeira-Pena 2020Tsinghua Science and Technology2020,25,6:0
9Nestling sex ratio is unaffected by individual and population traits in the griffon vulture显示文摘Variation in offspring sex ratios is a central topic in animal demography and population dynamics.Most studies have focused on bird species with marked sexual dimorphism and multiple-nestling broods,where the offspring sex ratio is often biased due to different individual or environmental variables.However,biases in offspring sex ratios have been far less investigated in monomorphic and single-egg laying species,and few studies have evaluated long-term and large-scale variations in the sex ratio of nestling vultures.Here,we explore individual and environmental factors potentially affecting the secondary sex ratio of the monomorphic griffon vulture Gyps fulvus.We used information collected at three breeding nuclei from central Spain over a 30-year period(1990–2020)to analyse the effects of nestling age,parental age,breeding phenology,conspecific density,population reproductive parameters,and spatial and temporal variability on nestling sex.Sex ratio did not differ from parity either at the population or the nuclei level.No significant between-year differences were detected,even under highly changing conditions of food availability associated with the mad-cow crisis.We found that tree nesting breeders tend to have more sons than daughters,but as this nesting behavior is rare and we consequently have a small sample size,this issue would require additional examination.Whereas further research is needed to assess the potential effect of breeder identity on nestling sex ratio,this study contributes to understanding the basic ecology and population dynamics of Griffon Vultures,a long-lived species with deferred maturity and low fecundity,whose minor deviations in the offspring sex ratio might imply major changes at the population level.Guillermo Gomez-Lopez Felix Martinez Ana Sanz-Aguilar Martina Carrete Guillermo Blanco 2023Current Zoology2023,69,3:0
10Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Thermoplastic Starch and Poly(Vinyl Alcohol-Co-Ethylene)Blends显示文摘The interest in thermoplastic starch(TPS)as a substitute material to replace conventional thermoplastics continues especially due its biodegradability,availability,low cost and because it is obtained from renewable sources.However,its poor mechanical properties and its high sensitivity to humidity have limited its use in several applications.Here,the copolymer poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol)(EVOH),with two different ethylene contents,27 and 44 mol%were blended with TPS by extrusion in order to overcome these limitations.The obtained blends were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),mechanical tensile testing,Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and moisture absorption test.The addition of EVOH copolymer did not significantly changed the thermal stability of TPS,however it increased the tensile strength in 65%when compared to TPS.The morphology of the blends did not showed two distinct phases,an indication of miscibility or partial miscibility of the components.A decrease of moisture absorption was obtained by the addition of EVOH and is more pronounced for the EVOH with 44% of ethylene.Ana Clara Lancarovici Alves Rafael Grande Antonio José Felix Carvalho 2019Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,3:0
11Can epigenetic and inflammatory biomarkers identify clinically aggressive prostate cancer?显示文摘Prostate cancer(PCa)is a highly prevalent malignancy and constitutes a major cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality.It emerges through the acquisition of genetic and epigenetic alterations.Epigenetic modifications include DNA methylation,histone modifications and micro RNA deregulation.These generate heritable transformations in the expression of genes but do not change the DNA sequence.Alterations in DNA methylation(hypo and hypermethylation)are the most characterized in PCa.They lead to genomic instability and inadequate gene expression.Major and minor-specific modifications in chromatin recasting are involved in PCa,with signs suggesting a dysfunction of enzymes modified by histones.Micro RNA deregulation also contributes to the initiation of PCa,including involvement in androgen receptor signalization and apoptosis.The influence of inflammation on prostate tumor carcinogenesis is currently much better known.Recent discoveries about microbial species resident in the urinary tract suggest that these are the initiators of chronic inflammation,promoting prostate inflammatory atrophy and eventually leading to PCa.Complete characterization of the relationship between the urinary microbiome and prostatic chronic inflammation will be crucial to develop plans for the prevention of PCa.The prevalent nature of epigenetic and inflammatory alterations may provide potential biomarkers for PCa diagnosis,treatment decisions,evaluation of prognosis and posttreatment surveillance.Pedro Bargao Santos Hitendra Patel Rui Henrique Ana Felix 2020World Journal of Clinical Oncology2020,11,2:0
12Transcatheter mitral valve repair is feasible and effective in oldest-old patients:results from real-world cohort显示文摘OBJECTIVE To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter mitral valve repair(TMVR)using MitraClip^(■)devices in oldest-old patients compared to younger patients.METHODS The study retrospectively included 340 consecutive patients who underwent TMVR.Patients were classified according to age into the oldest-old(age≥85 years)patient group or the younger(age<85 years)patient group.Immediate results of the procedure,intrahospital outcomes and one-year outcomes were compared.RESULTS Oldest-old patients represented 15.9%(n=54)of all patients.Procedure success was comparable for the oldest-old patient group and the younger patient group(92.6%vs.95.8%,P=0.30),and there was no difference in intrahospital mortality(9.2%vs.4.2%,P=0.12).At a one-year follow-up(interquartile range:6–16 months),there was no significant difference in rehospitalization due to decompensated heart failure(25.5%vs.34.3%,P=0.24)or all-cause mortality(29.8%vs.22.2%,P=0.26)between the oldest-old patient group and the younger patient group.In patients with available echocardiographic follow-up,severity of residual mitral regurgitation was also comparable between the oldest-old patient group and the younger patient group.CONCLUSIONS TMVR seems to be feasible and effective in oldest-old patients and should be considered for oldest-old patients presenting with symptomatic severe mitral regurgitation and high surgical risk.Mhd Nawar Alachkar Annemarie Kirschfink Anas Alnaimi Jörg Schröder Felix Vogt Nikolaus Marx Ertunc Altiok Mohammad Almalla 2022Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,10:0
13Phylogenomic analysis of 2556 single-copy protein-coding genes resolves most evolutionary relationships for the major clades in the most diverse group of lichen-forming fungi显示文摘Phylogenomic datasets continue to enhance our understanding of evolutionary relationships in many lineages of organisms.However,genome-scale data have not been widely implemented in reconstructing relationships in lichenized fungi.Here we generate a data set comprised of 2556 single-copy protein-coding genes to reconstruct previously unresolved rela-tionships in the most diverse family of lichen-forming fungi,Parmeliaceae.Our sampling included 51 taxa,mainly from the subfamily Parmelioideae,and represented six of the seven previously identified major clades within the family.Our results provided strong support for the monophyly of each of these major clades and most backbone relationships in the topology were recovered with high nodal support based on concatenated dataset and species tree analyses.The alectorioid clade was strongly supported as sister-group to all remaining clades,which were divided into two major sister-groups.In the first major clade the anzioid and usneoid clades formed a strongly supported sister-group relationship with the cetrarioid?hypogymnioid group.The sister-group relationship of Evernia with the cetrarioid clade was also strongly supported,whereas that between the anzioid and usneoid clades needs further investigation.In the second major clade Oropogon and Platismatia were sister to the parmelioid group,while the position of Omphalora was not fully resolved.This study demonstrates the power of genome-scale data sets to resolve long-standing,ambiguous phylogenetic rela-tionships of lichen-forming fungi.Furthermore,the topology inferred in this study will provide a valuable framework for better understanding diversification in the most diverse lineage of lichen-forming fungi,Parmeliaceae.David Pizarro Pradeep K.Divakar Felix Grewe Steven D.Leavitt Jen-Pan Huang Francesco Dal Grande Imke Schmitt Mats Wedin Ana Crespo H.Thorsten Lumbsch 2018Fungal Diversity2018,,5:0
