1Thermal decomposition and kinetics of plastic bonded explosives based on mixture of HMX and TATB with polymer matrices显示文摘This work describes thermal decomposition behaviour of plastic bonded explosives(PBXs) based on mixture of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocane(HMX) and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene(TATB)with Viton A as polymer binder. Thermal decomposition of PBXs was undertaken by applying simultaneous thermal analysis(STA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) to investigate influence of the HMX amount on thermal behavior and its kinetics. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) indicated that the thermal decomposition of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was occurred in a three-steps. The first step was mainly due to decomposition of HMX. The second step was ascribed due to decomposition of TATB, while the third step was occurred due to decomposition of the polymer matrices. The thermal decomposition % was increased with increasing HMX amount. The kinetics related to thermal decomposition were investigated under non-isothermal for a single heating rate measurement. The variation in the activation energy of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was observed with varying the HMX amount. The kinetics from the results of TGA data at various heating rates under non-isothermal conditions were also calculated by Flynn—Wall—Ozawa(FWO) and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS)methods. The activation energies calculated by employing FWO method were very close to those obtained by KAS method. 2Transplantation of engineered exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells ameliorate diabetic peripheral neuropathy under electrical stimulation显示文摘Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a long-term complication associated with nerve dysfunction and uncontrolled hyperglycemia.In spite of new drug discoveries,development of effective therapy is much needed to cure DPN.Here,we have developed a combinatorial approach to provide biochemical and electrical cues,considered to be important for nerve regeneration.Exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs)were fused with polypyrrole nanoparticles(PpyNps)containing liposomes to deliver both the cues in a single delivery vehicle.We developed DPN rat model and injected intramuscularly the fused exosomal system to understand its long-term therapeutic effect.We found that the fused system along with electrical stimulation normalized the nerve conduction velocity(57.60±0.45 m/s)and compound muscle action potential(16.96±0.73 mV)similar to healthy control(58.53±1.10 m/s;18.19±1.45 mV).Gastrocnemius muscle morphology,muscle mass,and integrity were recovered after treatment.Interestingly,we also observed paracrine effect of delivered exosomes in controlling hyperglycemia and loss in body weight and also showed attenuation of damage to the tissues such as the pancreas,kidney,and liver.This work provides a promising effective treatment and also contribute cutting edge therapeutic approach for the treatment of DPN.Anamika Singh Alok Raghav Parvaiz Ahmad Shiekh Ashok Kumar 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,8:4

6Effects of gadolinium addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg–9Al alloy显示文摘This research aims to study the significance of Gd addition(0wt%–2wt%) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg–9Al alloy. The effect of Gd addition on the microstructure was investigated via X-ray diffraction(XRD), optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The Mg–9Al alloy contained two phases, α-Mg and β-Mg_(17)Al_(12). Alloying with Gd led to the emergence of a new rectangular-shaped phase, Al_2Gd. The grain size also decreased marginally upon Gd addition. The ultimate tensile strength and microhardness of Mg–9Al alloy increased by 23% and 19%, respectively, upon 1.5wt% Gd addition. We observed that, although Mg–9Al–2.0Gd alloy exhibited the smallest grain size(181 μm) and the highest dislocation density(5.1 × 10^(10) m^(-2)) among the investigated compositions, the Mg–9Al–1.5Gd alloy displayed the best mechanical properties. 13Effect of Sintering Temperature and Heating Rate on Crystallite Size,Densification Behaviour and Mechanical Properties of Al-MWCNT Nanocomposite Consolidated via Spark Plasma Sintering显示文摘Powder mixture of ball-milled aluminium and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes was compacted via spark plasma sintering(SPS) to study effects of sintering temperature and heating rate. An increase in sintering temperature led to an increase in crystallite size and density, whereas an increase in heating rate exerted the opposite effect. The crystallite size and relative density increased by 85.0% and 14.3%, respectively, upon increasing the sintering temperature from 400 to 600 °C, whereas increasing the heating rate from 25 to 100 °C/min led to respective reduction by 30.0% of crystallite size and 1.8% of relative density. The total punch displacement during SPS for the nanocomposite sintered at 600 °C(1.96 mm) was much higher than that of the sample sintered at 400 °C(1.02 mm) confirming positive impact of high sintering temperature on densification behaviour. The maximum improvement in mechanical properties was exhibited by the nanocomposite sintered at 600 °C at a heating rate of 50 °C/min displaying microhardness of 81 ± 3.6 VHN and elastic modulus of 89 ± 5.3 GPa. 14Is Regular Probiotic Practice Safe for Management of Sepsis?显示文摘For decades,the gut has been thought to play an important role in sepsis pathogenesis.Sepsis is a serious life-threatening,chronic condition of an infection caused by dysregulated host immune response in most of the intensive care unit patients.Probiotics have dual roles in polymicrobial sepsis i.e.probiotics may induce sepsis in many cases and may prevent its prognosis in many cases.Experimental evidence from both pre-clinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that probiotic therapy ameliorates various inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor,interleukin-10(IL-10),IL-6,etc.,in septicemia.In addition,probiotic use was also found to reduce the severity of pathological conditions associated with irritable bowel disorder and prevent development of endocarditis in septicemia.On contrary,probiotic therapy in neonatal and athymic adult mice fail to provide any beneficial effects on mortality and sepsis-induced inflammation.Importantly,in few clinical trials probiotic use was found to aggravate sepsis by promoting inflammatory cascade rather than suppressing it.This review discusses various studies regarding the beneficial or harmful effects associated with probiotic therapy in sepsis.Rishabh Kumar Alok Shiomurti Tripathi Nidhi Sharma Gaaminepreet Singh Lucy Mohapatra 2022Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2022,28,2:0

16Feasibility of one-shot dilation access in the pediatric age group显示文摘Objective To compare sequential fascial dilation(SFD)versus one-shot dilation(OSD)in the pediatric patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Methods The present study is an observational study.The study subjects were divided into two groups.In group 1,renal dilation was done using the SFD and in group 2,renal dilation was done using the OSD.The amount of time exposed to radiation during access to pelvicalyceal system was estimated.Complications,stone free rates,ancillary procedures for residual stones and hospital stay were compared.Modified Clavien-Dindo classification was used for grading the complications.Results Radiation exposure and operative time were less in OSD group(95%confidence interval(CI)3.068 to 14.072,and 2.565 to 12.435,p<0.005).The mean drop of hematocrit was statistically less significant in OSD group(p=0.032).In both groups,complications,stone free rate and hospital stay were statistically insignificant.Conclusions OSD is feasible in the children with reduced radiation exposure and shorter operative time.The outcome was similar to SFD.Alok Srivastava Krishna Kumar Yadav Anjana Singh Anoop Kumar Srivastava Sanjeet Kumar Singh 2022World Journal of Pediatric Surgery2022,5,1:0
17Conservation aquaculture of Ompok bimaculatus (Butter catfish), a near threatened catfish in India显示文摘The butter catfish,Ompok bimaculatus,belonging to the silurid family,is widely regarded as an important food fish for aquaculture diversification in India.Furthermore,the species poses a threat due to habitat degradation and other anthropogenic factors,and has been categorised as“near threatened”,therefore,its culture promotion is warranted.To establish a successful breeding programme,a precise understanding of the life history,and biology(reproductive/feeding)of the fish will assist hatchery managers and researchers.Studies in these areas have been undertaken by several groups over the years,but without much coherence,the data are still fragmented.Few attempts on the culture attributes of this catfish have been performed under both mono-and polyculture systems to bring about parallel promotion through aquaculture in a larger part of the subcontinent.Highlighting this,we have tried to analyse and present a consolidated account of the morphological characteristics,feeding habits,reproductive biology,early developmental ontogeny,and culture potentials of O.bimaculatus in India.This review was also prompted by the paucity of information on the cultural aspects of the species.Additionally,based on the reported studies,future directions and perspectives of the culture promotion of the species are proffered to ensure future research initiatives.Pradyut Biswas Alok Kumar Jena Soibam Khogen Singh 2023Aquaculture and Fisheries2023,8,1:0
18Re-estimation and comparisons of alternative accounting based bankruptcy prediction models for Indian companies显示文摘Background:The suitability and performance of the bankruptcy prediction models is an empirical question.The aim of this paper is to develop a bankruptcy prediction model for Indian manufacturing companies on a sample of 208 companies consisting of an equal number of defaulted and non-defaulted firms.Out of 208 companies,130 are used for estimation sample,and 78 are holdout for model validation.The study reestimates the accounting based models such as Altman EI(Journal of Finance 23:19189-209,1968)Z-Score,Ohlson JA(Journal of Accounting Research 18:109-131,1980)Y-Score and Zmijewski ME(Journal of Accounting Research 22:59-82,1984)X-Score model.The paper compares original and re-estimated models to explore the sensitivity of these models towards the change in time periods and financial conditions.Methods:Multiple Discriminant Analysis(MDA)and Probit techniques are employed in the estimation of Z-Score and X-Score models,whereas Logit technique is employed in the estimation of Y-Score and the newly proposed models.The performance of all the original,re-estimated and new proposed models are assessed by predictive accuracy,significance of parameters,long-range accuracy,secondary sample and Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)tests.Results:The major findings of the study reveal that the overall predictive accuracy of all the three models improves on estimation and holdout sample when the coefficients are re-estimated.Amongst the contesting models,the new bankruptcy prediction model outperforms other models.Conclusions:The industry specific model should be developed with the new combinations of financial ratios to predict bankruptcy of the firms in a particular country.The study further suggests the coefficients of the models are sensitive to time periods and financial condition.Hence,researchers should be cautioned while choosing the models for bankruptcy prediction to recalculate the models by looking at the recent data in order to get higher predictive accuracy.Bhanu Pratap Singh Alok Kumar Mishra 2016Financial Innovation2016,2,1:0
19Near-saturated soil hydraulic conductivity and pore characteristics as influenced by conventional and conservation tillage practices in North-West Himalayan region,India显示文摘Tillage plays an important role in modifying soil hydraulic properties.The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of conservation tillage practices in a maize-wheat cropping system on nearsaturated soil hydraulic properties and pore characteristics in the North-West Himalayan region,India.Three treatments viz.conventional tillage(CT),minimum tillage(MT),and zero tillage(ZT)were evaluated in terms of field saturated hydraulic conductivity(ks),unsaturated hydraulic conductivity k(h),the inverse of capillary length(a),flow-weighted mean pore radius(r0),numbers of pores per square meter(n0)and water-conducting macroporosity(Ɛ).The above hydraulic conductivity and pore characteristics were derived from steady-state water flux(q)measured using hood infiltrometer at 0,1,and3 cm pressure head for each treatment after seven years of establishment of this tillage experiment.Results revealed significantly(p<0.05)higher values of ks,k(h),a,andƐin ZT as compared with CT.MT had intermediate values.Higher a values suggested a greater gravity-dominated flow under ZT and MT as compared with CT.Analysis of r0 values indicated better connectivity of pores in ZT and MT as compared with CT.Macropore flow suggested that on average pore radii,>0.50 mm conducted about 63.60,68.01,and 75.97%of total flow(at 0 cm pressure head)in the corresponding water-conducting macroporosity of 0.00030,0.00044,and 0.00069%of soil volume under CT,MT,and ZT,respectively.Overall,zero-tillage based agriculture system was found to improve near-saturated soil hydraulic properties.Deepak Singh Alok Kumar Mishra Sridhar Patra Sankar Mariappan Nisha Singh 2021International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,2:0
20Spatial variability of soil hydraulic and physical properties in erosive sloping agricultural fields显示文摘It is essential to minimize soil quality degradation in sloping agricultural fields through stabilization and improvement of soil hydraulic properties using sustainable soil management.This study aimed to analyze the impact of different tillage practices,including conventional tillage(CT),minimum tillage(MT),and zero tillage(ZT),on soil hydraulic conductivity in a sloping agricultural field under maizeewheat rotation.The results showed that the highest runoff volume(257.40 m3),runoff coefficient(42.84%),and soil loss(11.3 t)were observed when the CT treatment was applied.In contrast,the lowest runoff volume(67.95 m3),runoff coefficient(11.35%),and soil loss(1.05 t)were observed when the ZT treatment was adopted.The soil organic carbon and aggregate mean weight diameter were found to be significantly greater(with mean values of 0.79%and 1.19 mm,respectively)with the ZT treatment than with the CT treatment.With the tilled treatments(CT and MT),substantial changes in the saturated soil hydraulic conductivity(ks),near-saturated soil hydraulic conductivity(k),and water-conducting porosity(ε)were observed between two crop seasons.These three soil parameters were significantly higher in the period after maize harvesting than in the wheat growing period.In contrast,no significant difference in these soil parameters was found when the untilled treatment(ZT)was carried out.With regard to the slope positions,ks,k,andεshowed different behaviors under different treatments.The toe slope position showed significantly lower ks andεvalues than the summit and middle slope positions.Of the evaluated tillage practices,ZT was found to be the most promising means to improve the soil hydro-physical properties and effectively reduce surface runoff and soil erosion.Deepak Singh Alok Kumar Mishra Sridhar Patra Sankar Mariappan Nisha Singh Saswat Kumar Kar 2023Water Science and Engineering2023,16,1:0
