1Cell-type specificity of β-actin expression and its clinicopathological correlation in gastric adenocarcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate cell type specific distribution ofβ-actin expression in gastric adenocarcinoma and its correlation with clinicopathological parameters.METHODS:β-actin is a housekeeping gene, frequently used as loading control, but, differentially expresses in cancer. In gastric cancer,an overall increased expression ofβ-actin has been reported using tissue disruptive techniques. At present,no histological data is available to indicate its cell type-specific expression and distribution pattern. In the present study,we analyzedβ-actin expression and distribution in paired normal and tumor tissue samples of gastric adenocarcinoma patients using immunohistochemistry(IHC),a tissue non-disruptive technique as well as tissue disruptive techniques like reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and western blotting.Correlation ofβ-actin level with clinicopathological parameters was done using univariate analysis.RESULTS:The results of this study showed significant overexpression,at both mRNA and protein level in tumor tissues as confirmed by RT-PCR(1.47±0.13 vs2.36±0.16;P<0.001)and western blotting(1.92±0.26 vs 2.88±0.32;P<0.01).IHC revealed thatβ-actin expression is majorly distributed between epithelial and inflammatory cells of the tissues.Inflammatory cells showed a significantly higher expression compared to epithelial cells in normal(2.46±0.13 vs 5.92±0.23,P<0.001),as well as,in tumor tissues(2.79±0.24 vs6.71±0.14,P<0.001).Further,comparison of immunostaining between normal and tumor tissues revealed that both epithelial and inflammatory cells overexpressβ-actin in tumor tissues, however, significant difference was observed only in inflammatory cells(5.92±0.23vs 6.71±0.14,P<0.01).Moreover,combined expression in epithelial and inflammatory cells also showed significant increase(4.19±0.15 vs 4.75±0.14,P<0.05)in tumor tissues. In addition, univariate analysis showed a positive correlation ofβ-actin level of inflammatory cells with tumor grade(P<0.05)while epithelial cells exhibited negative correlation(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:In gastric cancer,β-actin showed an overall higher expression predominantly contributed by inflammatory or tumor infiltrating immune cells of the tissue microenvironment and correlates with tumor grade.Shafqat A Khan Monica Tyagi Ajit K Sharma Savio G Barreto Bhawna Sirohi Mukta Ramadwar Shailesh V Shrikhande Sanjay Gupta 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,34:2

13Synthesis and cytotoxic evaluation of substituted 3-(3'-indolyl-/3'-pyridyl)-isoxazolidines and bis-indoles显示文摘Regio-and stereoselective 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of C-(3-indolyl)-N-phenylnitrone(10)were carried out with different mono-substituted,disubstituted and cyclic dipolarophiles under mono-mode microwave irradiation to obtain substituted 3-(indol-30-yl)-N-phenyl-isoxazolidines(16–22).Reactions of nitrone(10)with allenic esters under similar conditions afforded, via a domino process,bis-indole derivatives(23a–c)along with compounds 24 and 25.Similarly,reactions of C-(3-pyridyl)-N-phenylnitrone(26)with mono-substituted,disubstituted and cyclic dipolarophiles were carried out in refluxing dry toluene to obtain substituted 3-(30-pyridyl)-Nphenylisoxazolidines(27–34).Some of the compounds(16f,18b,23a,23c,27c and 29f)display significant cytotoxicity against a number of human cancer cell lines.Vishal Sharma Raman Kalia Tilak Raj Vivek K.Gupta Nitasha Suri Ajit K.Saxena Deepak Sharma Surinderjit S.Bhella Gurpinder Singh Mohan Paul S.Ishar 2012Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,1:0
14Abundance of Carbonic Fluid Inclusions in Hira-Buddini Gold Deposit, Hutti-Maski Greenstone Belt, India: Inferences from Petrography and Volume Ratio Estimation of Fluid Components显示文摘Low saline aqueous carbonic fluids are considered to be the ore forming solutions for orogenic lode gold deposits.Phase separation/fluid immiscibility of the ore fluid is quite common and is one of the major reasons for deposition of gold in these deposits.Abundant carbonic fluid inclusions have been observed in quartz grains of Hira-Buddnini Gold Deposit.Theoretical estimation indicates that more volume of H2O compared to CO2 is likely to be trapped in inclusions at different P-T conditions.Preferential loss of H2O from fluid inclusions during ductile deformation of quartz grains have been attributed as the suitable reason for abundance of carbonic fluid inclusions.Rajagopal Krishnamurthi Ajit Kumar Sahoo Rajesh Sharma Prabhakar Sangurmath 2020Journal of Earth Science2020,31,3:0
15Decline in subarachnoid haemorrhage volumes associated with the first wave of the COVID- 19 pandemic显示文摘Background During the COVID-19 pandemic, decreased volumes of stroke admissions and mechanical thrombectomy were reported. The study’s objective was to examine whether subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH)hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions demonstrated similar declines. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional,retrospective,observational study across 6 continents,37 countries and 140 comprehensive stroke centres.Patients with the diagnosis of SAH,aneurysmal SAH,ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions and COVID-19 were identified by prospective aneurysm databases or by International Classification of Diseases,10th Revision, codes. The 3-month cumulative volume, monthly volumes for SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling procedures were compared for the period before(1 year and immediately before)and during the pandemic, defined as 1 March-31 May 2020.The prior 1-year control period(1 March-31 May 2019)was obtained to account for seasonal variation.Findings There was a significant decline in SAH hospitalisations, with 2044 admissions in the 3 months immediately before and 1585 admissions during the pandemic, representing a relative decline of 22.5%(95%CI−24.3%to−20.7%,p<0.0001).Embolisation of ruptured aneurysms declined with 1170-1035 procedures, respectively, representing an 11.5%(95%CI−13.5%to−9.8%,p=0.002)relative drop.Subgroup analysis was noted for aneurysmal SAH hospitalisation decline from 834 to 626 hospitalisations,a 24.9%relative decline(95%CI−28.0%to−22.1%,p<0.0001).A relative increase in ruptured aneurysm coiling was noted in low coiling volume hospitals of 41.1%(95%CI 32.3%to 50.6%,p=0.008)despite a decrease in SAH admissions in this tertile.Interpretation There was a relative decrease in the volume of SAH hospitalisations, aneurysmal SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm embolisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings in SAH are consistent with a decrease in other emergencies, such as stroke and myocardial infarction.Thanh N Nguyen Diogo C Haussen Muhammad M Qureshi Hiroshi Yamagami 16Transoral robotic surgery for adult parapharyngeal lymphangioma:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Lymphangiomas are a group of benign swellings which are commonly seen in children. The most common sites of presentation is the head and neck region, less commonly seen in axilla, chest, liver, spleen, etc. The ideal modality of treatment has always been surgical excision irrespective of the site and age group. But with the advent of minimally invasive surgical techniques,it is now possible to perform excision of parapharyngeal space lesions with minimal morbidity and good clearance.CASE SUMMARY A 42-year-old male patient who presented with difficulty in swallowing and had undergone surgery twice outside, where Transcervical approach was attempted to remove the parapharyngeal mass, but failed.Magnetic resonance imaging scan demonstrated a 6 cm x 5 cm x 4 cm left parapharyngeal mass.He underwent transoral robotic surgery for the excision of the parapharyngeal lesion and had an uneventful post-operative recovery.CONCLUSION Lymphangiomas are hamartomatous swellings which are benign in nature. The symptoms of the patient with large parapharyngeal mass include dysphagia, dyspnoea and neck swelling.Clinicoradiological evaluation is of utmost importance to determine the adjacent vital structures and the approach to the tumor. With the advent of robotics in oncology, transoral robotic excision is one of the best approaches to perform such a surgery.Surender Dabas Nandini N Menon Reetesh Ranjan Bikas Gurung Himanshu Shukla Ashwani K Sharma Sukirti Tiwari Ajit Sinha Sahibinder Singh Bhatti Rishu Sangal 2023World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology2023,10,2:0
