1Behind the curtain of non-coding RNAs; long non-coding RNAs regulating hepatocarcinogenesis显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the most common and aggressive cancers worldwide. HCC is the fifth common malignancy in the world and the second leading cause of cancer death in Asia. Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) are RNAs with a length greater than 200 nucleotides that do not encode proteins. lncRNAs can regulate gene expression and protein synthesis in several ways by interacting with DNA, RNA and proteins in a sequence specific manner. They could regulate cellular and developmental processes through either gene inhibition or gene activation. Many studies have shown that dysregulation of lncRNAs is related to many human diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, genetic disorders, neurological diseases, immune mediated disorders and cancers. However, the study of lncRNAs is challenging as they are poorly conserved between species, their expression levels aren't as high as that of m RNAs and have great interpatient variations. The study of lncRNAs expression in cancers have been a breakthrough as it unveils potential biomarkers and drug targets for cancer therapy and helps understand the mechanism of pathogenesis. 2Biochemical changes in phenols,flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E,β-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of three white sorghum varieties显示文摘Objective:To investigate the changes in total phenols,flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E, β-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of three white sorghum varieties.Methods: The changes in total phenols,total ilavonoids,tannins,phenolic acids compounds,flavonoid components,vitamin E,P-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of sorghum grains were determined.Results:Total phenols,total flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E,P-carotene and antioxidant activity in raw sorghum were ranged from 109.21 to 116.70,45.91 to 54.69,1.39 to 21.79 mg/100 g,1.74 to 5.25,0.54 to 1.19 mg/kg and 21.72%to 27.69%and 25.29%to 31.97%,respectively. The above measured compounds were significantly decreased after soaking.p-Hydroxybenzoic acid,vanillic acid,syringic acid and cinnamic acid represent the major phenolic acids in Dorado variety.While ferulic acid,p-coumaric acid,gallic acid and caffeic acid represent the major phenolic acids in Shandaweel-6.On the other hand,protocatechuic acid represents the major phenolic acids in Giza-15.Regarding flavonoids components,Dorado was the highest variety in kampferol and naringenin while Shandaweel-6 was the highest variety in luteolin, apigenin,hypersoid,quercelin and christen.Finally,Giza-15 was the highest variety in catechin. Phenolic acids,flavonoid compounds and antioxidant activities were decreased after soaking. 3Acaricidal activity of different extracts from Syzygium cumini L.Skeels(Pomposia) against Tetranychus urticae Koch显示文摘Objective:To investigate the acaricidal activity of different extracts from Syzygium cumini(S.cumini)(Pomposia)againsst Tetranyckus urticae Koch(71 urticae)and the biochemical changes in antioxidants enzymes.Methods:Six extracts of S.cumini(Pomposia)at concentrations of 75,150 and 300μg/mL were used to control T.urticae(Koch).Results:The ethanol extract showed the most efficient acaricidal activity agent against T.urticae(98.5%)followed by hexane extract(94.0%),ether and ethyl acetate extract(90.0%).The LC_(50)values of the promising extract-were 85.0,101.0,102.0 and 98.0μ/mL,respectively.The activities of enzymes including ascorbate peroxidase(APX),peroxidase(POD),superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)in susceptible mites were increased.The activities of all antioxidant enzymes reach the maximum value in mites at LC_(50)with ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts,respectively.Conclusions:The extract of S.cumini has acaricidal acivity against T.urticae,and the ethanol extract is the most efficient.Abd El-Moneim MR Afify Hossam S El-Beltagi Sayed A Fayed Emad A Shalaby 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,5:5
4Endoscopic management of Dieulafoy's lesion using Isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate显示文摘Dieulafoy's lesion (DL) is a rare but important cause of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding that may be over-looked during diagnostic endoscopy. Mortality rates are similar to those of other causes for gastrointestinal bleeding. Diagnosis by upper endoscopy is the modal-ity of choice during acute bleeding. In the absence of active bleeding, the lesion resembles a raised nipple or visible vessel. There are no guidelines regarding effective selective therapy for DL, when diagnosed, en-doscopist experience is the major determinant of the treatment strategy. Following our strategy, an expert endoscopist with a skilled assistant should have a high rate of successful DL diagnosis when an obscured gas-trointestinal lesion is suspected. Cyanoacryltes com-pounds have been used successfully in management of Gastric varices and DLs. To our knowledge, there have been no previous reports regarding use of isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate (AMCRYLATE ; Concord Drugs Ltd.,Hyderabad, India) as an effective therapy for gastric DL without serious complications. In our case study, Isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate (AMCRYLATE) was effective and safe for treating DL. 7Survival and outcomes for co-infection of chronic hepatitis C with and without cirrhosis and COVID-19: A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND Chronic liver disease,particularly cirrhosis,is associated with worse outcomes in patients infected with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).AIM To assess outcomes of COVID-19 infection among patients with pre-existing hepatitis C with or without liver cirrhosis.METHODS This multicenter,retrospective cohort study included all cases of confirmed coinfection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and chronic hepatitis C with or without liver cirrhosis who were admitted to six hospitals(Al-Sahel Hospital,Al-Matareya Hospital,Al-Ahrar Hospital,Ahmed Maher Teaching Hospital,Al-Gomhoreya Hospital,and the National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute)affiliated with the General Organization for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes in Egypt.Patients were recruited from May 1,2020,to July 31,2020.Demographic,laboratory,imaging features,and outcomes were collected.Multivariate regression analysis was performed to detect factors affecting mortality.RESULTS This retrospective cohort study included 125 patients with chronic hepatitis C and COVID-19 co-infection,of which 64(51.20%)had liver cirrhosis and 40(32.00%)died.Fever,cough,dyspnea,and fatigue were the most frequent symptoms in patients with liver cirrhosis.Cough,sore throat,fatigue,myalgia,and diarrhea were significantly more common in patients with liver cirrhosis than in noncirrhotic patients.There was no difference between patients with and without cirrhosis regarding comorbidities.Fifteen patients(23.40%)with liver cirrhosis presented with hepatic encephalopathy.Patients with liver cirrhosis were more likely than non-cirrhotic patients to have combined ground-glass opacities and consolidations in CT chest scans:28(43.75%)vs 4(6.55%),respectively(P value<0.001).These patients also were more likely to have severe COVID-19 infection,compared to patients without liver cirrhosis:29(45.31%)vs 11(18.04%),respectively(P value<0.003).Mortality was higher in patients with liver cirrhosis,compared to those with no cirrhosis:33(51.56%)vs 9(14.75%),respectively(P value<0.001).All patients in Child-Pugh class A recovered and were discharged.Cirrhotic mortality occurred among decompensated patients only.A multivariate regression analysis revealed the following independent factors affecting mortality:Male gender(OR 7.17,95%CI:2.19–23.51;P value=0.001),diabetes mellitus(OR 4.03,95%CI:1.49–10.91;P value=0.006),and liver cirrhosis(OR 1.103,95%CI:1.037–1.282;P value<0.0001).We found no differences in liver function,COVID-19 disease severity,or outcomes between patients who previously received direct-acting antiviral therapy(and achieved sustained virological response)and patients who did not receive this therapy.CONCLUSION Patients with liver cirrhosis are susceptible to higher severity and mortality if infected with COVID-19.Male gender,diabetes mellitus,and liver cirrhosis are independent factors associated with increased mortality risk.Shimaa Afify Basem Eysa Fatma Abdel Hamid Omnia M Abo-Elazm Mohamed A Edris Rabab Maher Ahmed Abdelhalim Muhammad Mostafa Abdel Ghaffar Dalia A Omran Hend Ibrahim Shousha 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,42:2

9Control of Tetranychus urticae Koch by extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the acaricidal activity of extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptwi against Tetranychus urtiaie(T.urticae.)Koch.Methods:Extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus with different concentrations(0.5%,1.0%,2.0%,3.0%and 4.0%)were used to control T.urticae Koch.Results:The results showed that chamomile(Chamomilla recutita)represented the most potent efficient acaricidal agent against Tetranychus followed by marjoram(Marjorana hortensis)and Eucalyptus.The LC_(50)values of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus for adults were 0.65,1.84 and 2.18,respectively and for eggs 1.17,6.26 and 7.33,respectively.Activities of enzymes including glutathione-Stxansferase,esterase(α-esterase andβ-esterase)and alkaline phosphatase in susceptible mites were determined and activities of enzymes involved in the resistance of acaricides were proved.Protease enzyme was significantly decreased at LC_(50)of both chamomile and marjoram compared with positive control.Gas chromatography-mass spectrometer(CC-MS)proved that the major compositions of Chamomilla recutita areα-bisabolol oxide A(35.251%),and trans-3-farersene(7.758%),while the main components of Marjorana hortensis are terpincne-4-ol(23.860%),p-cymene(23.404%)and sabinene(10.904%).Conclusions:It can be concluded that extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus possess acaricidal activity against T.urticae.Abd El-Moneim MR Afify Fatma S Ali Turky AF 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,1:2
