1Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase: As a potential prognostic marker and immunotherapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Tumor cells induce an immunosuppressive microen-vironment which leads towards tumor immune escape. Understanding the intricacy of immunomodulation by tumor cells is essential for immunotherapy. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase(IDO) is an immunosuppressive enzyme which mediates tumor immune escape in various cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). IDO up-regulation in HCC may lead to recruitment of regulatory T-cells into tumor microenvironment and therefore inhibit local immune responses and promote metastasis. HCC associated fibroblasts stimulate natural killer cells dysfunction through prostaglandin E2 and subsequently IDO promotes favorable condition for tumor metastasis. IDO up-regulation induces immuno-suppression and may enhance the risk of hepatitis C virus and hepatitis B virus induced HCC. Therefore, IDO inhibitors as adjuvant therapeutic agents may have clinical implications in HCC. 2形状特征和置信传播在去除SIFT特征点错误匹配中的应用显示文摘针对SIFT特征点匹配错误问题,提出一种置信传播与特征点形状特征相结合去除SIFT特征点匹配错误的算法.该算法分为4步:1)根据每个特征点的尺度信息、主方向信息以及匹配邻居特征点信息确定每个特征点邻域窗口的大小和方向,并计算每个特征点在邻域窗口内匹配邻居构成的形状特征;2)连接每个特征点与其最近的3个邻居特征点,构成置信传播网的基本框架;3)利用每对待确定特征点对的特征描述符之间的距离与其形状特征之间的距离生成置信传播网的证据函数,利用每对待确定特征点对与其邻居之间的空间关系生成置信传播网的相容函数;4)迭代计算每个特征点的置信度以及传递给邻居的消息,直至整个网络收敛,并通过最后得到的置信度确定初始匹配特征点对是否为误配.利用真实拍摄的图像和牛津几何视觉组数据库中的图像进行仿真实验,并与RANSAC算法、GTM算法以及BP_SIFT算法进行了比较,仿真结果表明,在召回率、准确率、丢失率和效率上,文中算法总体上优于上述3种算法.翟凤文 党建武 王阳萍 罗维薇 Muhammad Azim Asim 2016计算机辅助设计与图形学学报2016,28,3:5
3Integration of time-reversal mirror technique in short baseline positioning显示文摘Short baseline(SBL) system is one of the most significant systems for underwater positioning.In shallow water or littoral environment the system faces problems of large error in delay estimation and system instability because of severe multi-path.To address those problems,this paper proposes a SBL system transmitting a wideband signal combined with time-reversal.The effect of multi-path propagation on response signal is compensated by time reversal focusing which is derived from the channel multi-path characteristics.Results of simulations and actual experiments in lake show that the proposed scheme reduces errors in delay estimation.It is proved that time reversal mirror improves the accuracy and precision of underwater vehicle navigation and positioning.LI Zhuang QIAO Gang Muhammad Asim Ismail 2013Chinese Journal of Acoustics2013,32,3:3
4Intensive care unit complications and outcomes of adult patients with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: A retrospective study of 16 cases显示文摘AIM To study the management, complications and outcomes of adult patients admitted with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis(HLH) in the intensive care unit(ICU).METHODS We performed a retrospective observational study of adult patients with the diagnosis of 'HLH' admitted to the two academic medical ICUs of Baylor College of Medicine between 01/01/2013 to 06/30/2017. HLH was diagnosed using the HLH-2004 criteria proposed by the Histiocyte Society.RESULTS Sixteen adult cases of HLH were admitted to the medical ICUs over 4 years.Median age of presentation was 49 years and 10(63%) were males. Median Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA) score at the time of ICU admission was 10. Median ICU length of stay(LOS) was 11.5 d and median hospital LOS was 29 d. Septic shock and acute respiratory failure accounted for majority of diagnoses necessitating ICU admission. Septic shock was the most common ICU complication seen in(88%) patients, followed by acute kidney injury(81%) and acute respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation(75%). Nine patients(56%) developed disseminated intravascular coagulation and eight(50%) had acute liver failure. 10 episodes of clinically significant bleeding were observed.Multi system organ failure was the most common cause of death seen in 12(75%)patients. The 30 d mortality was 37%(6 cases) and 90 d mortality was 81%(13 cases). There was no difference in mortality based on age(above or less than 50 years), SOFA score on ICU admission(more than or less than 10),immunosuppression, time to diagnose HLH or direct ICU admission versus floor transfer.CONCLUSION HLH is a devastating disease associated with poor outcomes in ICU. 6Ketamine Alleviates Fear Generalization Through GluN2B-BDNF Signaling in Mice显示文摘Fear memories are critical for survival.Nevertheless,over-generalization of these memories,depicted by a failure to distinguish threats from safe stimuli,is typical in stress-related disorders.Previous studies have supported a protective role of ketamine against stress-induced depressive behavior.However,the effect of ketamine on fear generalization remains unclear.In this study,we investigated the effects of ketamine on fear generalization in a fear-generalized mouse model.The mice were given a single sub-anesthetic dose of ketamine(30 mg/kg,i.p.)1 h before,1 week before,immediately after,or 22 h after fear conditioning.The behavioral measure of fear(indicated by freezing level)and synaptic protein expression in the basolateral amygdala(BLA)and inferior-limbic pre-frontal cortex(IL-PFC)of mice were examined.We found that only ketamine administered 22 h after fear conditioning significantly decreased the fear generalization,and the effect was dose-dependent and lasted for at least 2 weeks.The fear-generalized mice showed a lower level of brainderived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and a higher level of GluN2B protein in the BLA and IL-PFC,and this was reversed by a single administration of ketamine.Moreover,the GluN2B antagonist ifenprodil decreased the fear generalization when infused into the IL-PFC,but had no effect when infused into the BLA.Infusion of ANA-12(an antagonist of the BDNF receptor TrkB)into the BLA or ILPFC blocked the effect of ketamine on fear generalization.These findings support the conclusion that a single dose of ketamine administered 22 h after fear conditioning alleviates the fear memory generalization in mice and the GluN2B-related BDNF signaling pathway plays an important role in the alleviation of fear generalization.Muhammad Asim Bo Hao Yu-Han Yang Bu-Fang Fan Li Xue Yan-Wei Shi Xiao-Guang Wang Hu Zhao 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,2:2
7Text Sentiment Analysis Using Frequency-Based Vigorous Features显示文摘Sentiment Analysis, an un-abating research area in text mining, requires a computational method for extracting useful information from text. In recent days, social media has become a really rich source to get information about the behavioral state of people(opinion) through reviews and comments. Numerous techniques have been aimed to analyze the sentiment of the text, however, they were unable to come up to the complexity of the sentiments. The complexity requires novel approach for deep analysis of sentiments for more accurate prediction. This research presents a three-step Sentiment Analysis and Prediction(SAP) solution of Text Trend through K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN). At first, sentences are transformed into tokens and stop words are removed. Secondly, polarity of the sentence, paragraph and text is calculated through contributing weighted words, intensity clauses and sentiment shifters. The resulting features extracted in this step played significant role to improve the results. Finally, the trend of the input text has been predicted using KNN classifier based on extracted features. The training and testing of the model has been performed on publically available datasets of twitter and movie reviews. Experiments results illustrated the satisfactory improvement as compared to existing solutions. 8Molecular hallmarks of long non-coding RNAs in aging and its significant effect on aging-associated diseases显示文摘Aging is linked to the deterioration of many physical and cognitive abilities and is the leading risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. The growing aging population is a significant healthcare problem globally that researchers must investigate to better understand the underlying aging processes. Advances in microarrays and sequencing techniques have resulted in deeper analyses of diverse essential genomes(e.g., mouse, human, and rat) and their corresponding cell types, their organ-specific transcriptomes, and the tissue involved in aging. Traditional gene controllers such as DNA-and RNA-binding proteins significantly influence such programs, causing the need to sort out long non-coding RNAs, a new class of powerful gene regulatory elements. However, their functional significance in the aging process and senescence has yet to be investigated and identified. Several recent researchers have associated the initiation and development of senescence and aging in mammals with several well-reported and novel long non-coding RNAs. 9The importance of visualization of appendix on abdominal ultrasound for the diagnosis of appendicitis in children: A quality assessment review显示文摘BACKGROUND:Ultrasound has the first line investigation role in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in children.The purpose of this study was to perform a quality assessment review on the visualization rate of appendix on ultrasound in children in the community hospital setting.METHODS:A retrospective chart review of the abdominal ultrasound findings for the visualization of the appendix was performed on paediatric patients ranging from 5 to 18 years.Data were collected from the two community hospitals of Toronto by using hospital electronic medical record for the ultrasound findings in patients presented with abdominal pain.RESULTS:Data from two community hospitals indicated visualization rate of the appendix as 11.0%and 23.2%for site 1 and site 2 respectively.In cases where the ultrasound was repeated the visualization rate remains the same.A two-proportion z-test was performed to find whether the visualization of appendix increases the likelihood of diagnosing appendicitis.The results revealed that the visualization of an appendix(P=0.52),significantly improved the diagnosis of appendicitis(z=34,P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Visualization of an appendix on ultrasound increases the likelihood of correctly diagnosing appendicitis.In our study,we found low visualization rate of appendix on ultrasound that could be the result of many factors that contribute towards the low visualization rate of an appendix on ultrasound.Hence,the challenges in identifying appendix should be minimized to improve the visualization and diagnosis of appendicitis on ultrasound.Muhammad Akhter Hamid Ruqiya Afroz Uqba Nawaz Ahmed Aneela Bawani Dilnasheen Khan Rabia Shahab Asim Salim 2020World Journal of Emergency Medicine2020,11,3:2

11Highly active sites of NiVB nanoparticles dispersed onto graphene nanosheets towards efficient and pH-universal overall water splitting显示文摘Production of hydrogen(H2) and oxygen(O2) through electrocatalytic water splitting is one of the sustainable,green and pivotal ways to accomplish the ever-increasing demands for renewable energy sources,but remains a big challenge because of the uphill reaction during overall water splitting.Herein,we develop high-performance non-noble metal electrocatalysts for pH-universal water splitting,based on nickel/vanadium boride(NiVB) nanoparticles/reduced graphene oxide(rGO) hybrid(NiVB/rGO)through a facile chemical reduction approach under ambient condition.By virtue of more exposure to surface active sites,superior electron transfer capability and strong electronic coupling,the asprepared NiVB/rGO heterostructure needs pretty low overpotentials of 267 and 151 mV to deliver a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) for oxygen evolution reaction(OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)respectively,with the corresponding Tafel slope of 44 and 88 mV dec^(-1) in 1.0 M KOH.Moreover,the NiVB/rGO electrocatalysts display a promising performance in a wide-pH conditions that require low overpotential of 310,353 and 489 mV to drive a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) for OER under 0.5 M KOH,0.05 M H2SO4 and 1.0 M phosphate buffer solution(PBS) respectively,confirming the excellent electrocata lytic performance among state-of-the-art Ni-based electrocatalysts for overall water splitting.Therefore,the interfacial tuning based on incorporation of active heterostructure may pave a new route to develop bifunctional,cost-effective and efficient electrocatalyst systems for water splitting and H2 production.Muhammad Arif Ghulam Yasin Muhammad Shakeel Muhammad Asim Mushtaq Wen Ye Xiaoyu Fang Shengfu Ji Dongpeng Yan 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,7:1

14Concentration-Dependent Solar Thermochemical CO_(2)/H_(2)O Splitting Performance by Vanadia-Ceria Multiphase Metal Oxide Systems显示文摘The effects of V and Ce concentrations(each varying in the 0-100%range)in vanadia-ceria multiphase systems are investigated for synthesis gas production via thermochemical redox cycles of CO_(2) and H_(2)O splitting coupled to methane partial oxidation reactions.The oxidation of prepared oxygen carriers is performed by separate and sequential CO_(2) and H_(2)O splitting reactions.Structural and chemical analyses of the mixed-metal oxides revealed important information about the Ce and V interactions affecting their crystal phases and redox characteristics.Pure CeO_(2) and pure V_(2)O_(5) are found to offer the lowest and highest oxygen exchange capacities and syngas production performance,respectively.The mixed-oxide systems provide a balanced performance:their oxygen exchange capacity is up to 5 times higher than that of pure CeO_(2) while decreasing the extent of methane cracking.The addition of 25%V to CeO_(2) results in an optimum mixture of CeO_(2) and CeVO4 for enhanced CO_(2) and H_(2)O splitting.At higher V concentrations,cyclic carbide formation and oxidation result in a syngas yield higher than that for pure CeO_(2).Asim Riaz Muhammad Umair Ali T.Gabriel Enge Takuya Tsuzuki Adrian Lowe Wojciech Lipinski 2020Research2020,,1:1

20Numerical Simulation and Experimental Verification of CMOD in SENT Specimen: Application on FCGR of Welded Tool Steel显示文摘Single-edged notched tension (SENT) specimen is used to study the fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) behavior of AISI 50100 steel using MTS 810. Calibration tests are run to get plots of crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) vs. load and CMOD vs. crack length-to-width ratio with the known crack lengths. Numerical simulation is also done to try to establish a relation between crack length and CMOD. FCGR of welded and un-welded specimens are plotted against stress intensity factor range to show the effect of welding on fatigue crack growth rate of AISI 50100 steel. The experimentally obtained CMOD values are compared with values obtained by numerical simulation using ABAQUS/StandardTM software package.
