| 1 | Energy-efficient Virtual Machine Allocation Technique Using Flower Pollination Algorithm in Cloud Datacenter:A Panacea to Green Computing显示文摘Cloud computing has attracted significant interest due to the increasing service demands from organizations offloading computationally intensive tasks to datacenters.Meanwhile,datacenter infrastructure comprises hardware resources that consume high amount of energy and give out carbon emissions at hazardous levels.In cloud datacenter,Virtual Machines(VMs)need to be allocated on various Physical Machines(PMs)in order to minimize resource wastage and increase energy efficiency.Resource allocation problem is NP-hard.Hence finding an exact solution is complicated especially for large-scale datacenters.In this con text,this paper proposes an Energy-oriented Flower Pollination Algorithm(E-FPA)for VM allocation in cloud datacenter environments.A system framework for the scheme was developed to enable energy-oriented allocation of various VMs on a PM.The allocation uses a strategy called Dynamic Switching Probability(DSP).The framework finds a near optimal solution quickly and balances the exploration of the global search and exploitation of the local search.It considers a processor,storage,and memory constraints of a PM while prioritizing energy-oriented allocation for a set of VMs.Simulations performed on MultiRecCloudSim utilizing planet workload show that the E-FPA outperforms the Genetic Algorithm for Power-Aware(GAPA)by 21.8%,Order of Exchange Migration(OEM)ant colony system by 21.5%,and First Fit Decreasing(FFD)by 24.9%.Therefore,E-FPA significantly improves datacenter performance and thus,enhances environmental sustainability. | Mohammed Joda Usman Abdul Samad Ismail Hassan Chizari Gaddafi Abdul-Salaam Ali Muhammad Usman Abdulsalam Yau Gital Omprakash Kaiwartya Ahmed Aliyu | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,2: | 13 |
| 2 | Effect of hand hygiene intervention on the absenteeism of pre-school children in Klang Valley,Malaysia:a quasi-experimental study显示文摘Background Absenteeism amongst pre-school children is often due to illnesses such as hand,foot,and mouth disease,acute gastroenteritis,cold and flu,which are easily spread amongst them.This is because of weak immunity and lack of knowledge on proper hand hygiene.This quasi-experimental study assessed the efficacy of an intervention consisting of a hand hygiene education programme,along with digital tools in bringing about a change in behaviour and health conditions amongst pre-school children in Klang Valley,Malaysia.Methods A total of 377 school children,male and female,aged 5–6 years old,participated and were assigned to either the intervention or a control group.During the 2 months intervention period,children in the test group were trained on proper hand hygiene practices and techniques with the aid of the interactive android-based tablets.The numbers of absent days of all the children were recorded for 2 months before the intervention and during the intervention.Results In the test group,there was a 25%increase in the total number of absent days from the pre-intervention period to the intervention period,a much lesser increment observed as compared to that of control group in which the increase was much higher at 89%.Results showed a significant difference(P<0·05)between the absenteeism rates for the test and control group during the intervention period.Conclusion These results suggest that proper education and intervention increase hand hygiene compliance,which may help decrease school absenteeism due to illness;however,a longer study duration may be necessary to evaluate the benefit further. | Nurul Azmawati Mohamed Mohd Dzulkhairi Mohd Rani Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin Zarini Ismail Shalinawati Ramli Habibah Faroque Farisha Nur Abd Samad Abdul Rashid Ariffien Aisyah Ar Redha Che Amir FaridIlina Isahak | 2020 | World Journal of Pediatrics2020,16,4: | 2 |

| 6 | Effect of Replacing Vanadium by Niobium and Iron on the Tribological Behavior of HIPed Titanium Alloys显示文摘This study aims to examine the effect of replacing vanadium by niobium and iron on the tribological behavior of hot-isostatic-pressed titanium alloy(Ti–6Al–4V)biomaterial,using a ball-on-disk-type oscillating tribometer,under wet conditions using physiological solution in accordance with the ISO7148 standards.The tests were carried out under a normal load of 6 N,with an AISI 52100 grade steel ball as a counter face.The morphological changes and structural evolution of the nanoparticle powders using different milling times(2,6,12 and 18 h)were studied.The morphological characterization indicated that the particle and crystallite size continuously decrease with increasing milling time to reach the lowest value of 4 nm at 18-h milling.The friction coefficient and wear rate were lower in the samples milled at 18 h(0.226,0.297 and 0.423;and 0.66 9 10^(-2),0.87 9 10^(-2)and 1.51 9 10^(-2)lm^3N^(-1)lm^(-1))for Ti–6Al–4Fe,Ti–6Al–7Nb and Ti–6Al–4V,respectively.This improvement in friction and wear resistance is attributed to the grain refinement at 18-h milling.The Ti–6Al–4Fe samples showed good tribological performance for all milling times. | Mamoun Fellah Linda Aissani Mohammed Abdul Samad Alain Iosts Touhami Mohamed Zine Alex Montagnes Corinne Nouveau | 2017 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2017,30,11: | 1 |

| 8 | Studies on batch adsorptive removal of cadmium and nickel from synthetic waste water using silty clay originated from Balochistan-Pakistan显示文摘The potentials of silty clay(SC),acquired from Chaman,Balochistan,were investigated as adsorbent for Ni(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)removal from contaminated media.The influence of different operating factors like dose,pH,temperature,and time of contact was explored,and optimum values were noted under batch adsorption method.Isothermal study was conducted with varying concentrations of solutions on optimized conditions and different adsorption models i.e.,Langmuir,Freundlich,Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich(D-R)isotherm,which were employed to interpret the process.The isothermal data of both Ni(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)were well fitted to Langmuir isotherm suggesting the formation of monolayer of metal ions on silty clay.The values of adsorption capacity noted for Ni(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)were 3.603 mg·g^-1 and 5.480 mg·g^-1,respectively.Kinetic studies affirmed that pseudo second order(PSO)kinetics was being obeyed by the removal of Ni(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ).Thermodynamic variables like free energy change(ΔG°),enthalpy change(ΔH°)and entropy change(ΔS°)were calculated.The negative value ofΔG°and the positive values ofΔH°andΔS°unfolded that the removal process of both metal ions of by SC was spontaneous,endothermic and feasible. | Abdul Samad Muhammad Imran Din Mahmood Ahmed | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,4: | 1 |

| 17 | Role of foliar spray of plant growth regulators in improving photosynthetic pigments and metabolites in Plantago ovata (Psyllium) under salt stress–A field appraisal显示文摘Salinity is one of the major abiotic factors that limit the growth and productivity of plants.Foliar application of plant growth regulators(PGRs)may help plants ameliorate the negative impacts of salinity.Thus,a field experiment was conducted at the Botanical Garden University of Balochistan,Quetta,to explore the potential role of PGRs,i.e.,moringa leaf extract(MLE;10%),proline(PRO;1μM),salicylic acid(SA;250μM),and thiourea(TU;10 mM)in ameliorating the impacts of salinity(120 mM)on Plantago ovata,an important medicinal plant.Salinity hampered plant photosynthetic pigments and metabolites but elevated oxidative parameters.However,foliar application of PGRs enhanced photosynthetic pigments,including Chl b(21.11%),carotenoids(57.87%)except Chl a,activated the defense mechanisms by restoring and enhancing the metabolites,i.e.,soluble sugars(49.68%),soluble phenolics(33.34%),and proline(31.47%),significantly under salinity stress.Furthermore,foliar supplementation of PGRs under salt stress led to a decrease of about 43.02%and 43.27%in hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde content,respectively.Thus,PGRs can be recommended for improved photosynthetic efficiency and metabolite content that can help to get better yield under salt stress,with the best and most effective treatments being those of PRO and MLE to predominately ameliorate the harsh impacts of salinity. | ABDUL SAMAD KANVAL SHAUKAT MAHMOOD-UR-REHMAN ANSARI MEREEN NIZAR NOREEN ZAHRA AMBREEN NAZ HAFIZ MUHAMMAD WALEED IQBAL ALI RAZA VLADAN PESIC IVICA DJALOVIC | 2023 | BIOCELL2023,47,3: | 1 |
