1Waste heat recovery from heavy-duty diesel engine exhaust gases by medium temperature ORC system显示文摘A medium-temperature waste-heat recovery system based on the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is designed to recover the exhaust energy from a heavy-duty diesel engine. Analysis of the 1st law of thermodynamics for an ORC system is performed. This analysis contains two parts. The first part is an analysis with undefined heat exchangers to gain an understanding of the ORC and find out suitable organic fluid parameters for a better ORC efficiency. The second part of the analysis uses combined engine test results and two designs of heat exchangers. By comparing the two designs, an improved system of heat exchangers is described. This analysis also quantifies the effect of engine parameters on ORC system. The study concludes that the supercritical Rankine cycle is a better approach towards waste heat recovery. The ORC system is found to perform better under part-load conditions if the medium-high power condition rather than rated working point of the engine is used as the design parameter. 3Detailed investigation of optimized alkali catalyzed transesterification of Jatropha oil for biodiesel production显示文摘The non-edible oils are believed to be one of the major feedstock for the production of biodiesel in future.In the present study,we investigated the production of Jatropha oil methyl esters(JOMEs) via alkali-catalyzed transesterification route.The biophysical characteristics of Jatropha oil were found within the optimal range in accordance with ASTM standards as a substitute diesel fuel.The chemical composition and production yield of as-synthesized biodiesel were confirmed by various analytical techniques such as FT-IR,1H NMR,13 C NMR and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.A high percentage conversion,~96.09%,of fatty acids into esters was achieved under optimized transesterification conditions with 6 :1 oil to methanol ratio and 0.9 wt% Na OH for 50 min at ~60°C.Moreover,twelve fatty acids methyl esters(FAME) were quantified in the GC/MS analysis and it was interesting to note that the mass fragmentation pattern of saturated,monounsaturated and diunsaturated FAME was comparable with the literature reported values.Waqas Ahmed Muhammad Faizan Nazar Syed Danish Ali Usman Ali Rana Salah Ud-Din Khan 2015Journal of Energy Chemistry2015,24,3:5

6UV Assisted Preliminary DNA Binding Studies and Single-crystal X-ray Structure of 4-{(4-Nitrophenyl-sulfonamido)methyl}cyclohexanecarboxylic Acid显示文摘A new sulfonamide, 4-{(4-nitrophenylsulfonamido)methyl}cyclohexanecarboxylic acid(C14H18N2O6S), has been synthesized by the reaction of tranexamic acid and 4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride in basic medium at room temperature. The molecular structure was determined by FT-IR, NMR, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray technique. X-ray diffraction shows that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 13.5980(7), b = 4.9877(2), c = 23.3878(13) ?, β = 93.254(3)o, Z = 4, V = 1583.67(14) ?3, μ = 0.237 mm-1, F(000) = 720, R = 0.0471 and w R = 0.1182. The molecules are related by inversion and paired into dimers via C–H···O interactions. The dimmers are interlinked due to strong N–H···O bonds, where O-atoms are of sulfonyl groups. The molecules are stabilized in the form of infinite two-dimensional network with base vectors [0 1 0] and [0 0 –1] in the plane(1 0 2). The existence of good intermolecular interactions suggests the biological importance of the synthesized molecule. The compound was screened for its interaction with FS-DNA using UV-visible spectroscopy. UV-visible spectroscopic results depict that the compound interacts with DNA by mixed binding mode intercalation along with hydrogen bonding. 9Incorporation of layered tin(Ⅳ) phosphate in graphene framework for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘To anchor the polysulfide and enhance the conversion kinetics of polysulfide to disulfide/sulfide is critical for improving the performance of lithium-sulfur battery.For this purpose,the graphene-supported tin(Ⅳ) phosphate(Sn(HPO_4)_2·H_2 O,SnP) composites(SnP-G) are employed as the novel sulfur hosts in this work.When compared to the graphene-sulfur and carbon-sulfur composites,the SnP-G-sulfur composites exhibit much better cycling performance at 1.0 C over 800 cycles.Meanwhile,the pouch cell fabricated with the SnP-G-sulfur cathodes also exhibits excellent performance with an initial capacity of1266.6 mAh g^(-1)(S) and capacity retention of 76.9% after 100 cycles at 0.1 C.The adsorption tests,density functional theory(DFT) calculations in combination with physical cha racterizations and electrochemical measurements provide insights into the mechanism of capture-accelerated conversion mechanism of polysulfide at the surface of SnP.DFT calculations indicate that the Li-O bond formed between Li atom(from Li_2 S_n,n=1,2,4,6,8) and O atom(from PO_3-OH in SnP) is the main reason for the strong interactions between Li_2 S_n and SnP.As a result,SnP can effectively restrain the shuttle effect and improving the cycling performance of Li-S cell.In addition,by employing the climbing-image nudged elastic band(ciNEB) methods,the energy barrier for lithium sulfide decomposition(charging reaction) on SnP is proved to decrease significantly compared to that on graphene.It can be concluded that SnP is an effective sulfur hosts acting as dual-functional accelerators for the conversion reactions of polysulfude to sulfide(discharging reaction) as well as polysulfide to sulfur(charging reaction).Haifeng Yuan Na Zhang Leiwu Tian Lei Xu Qinjun Shao Syed Danish Ali Zaidi Jianping Xiao Jian Chen 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,2:2
