1Serum uric acid and risk of incident diabetes in middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults: prospective cohort study显示文摘The association between serum uric acid and the risk of incident diabetes in Chinese adults remains unknown.This study aimed to investigate this association in a community-dwelling population aged≥40 years in Shanghai,China.Oral glucose tole3rance test was conducted during baseline and follow-up visits.Relative risk regression was utilized to examine the associations between baseline gender-specific serum uric acid levels and incident diabetes risk.A total of 613(10.3%)incident diabetes cases were identified during the follow-up visit after 4.5 years.Fasting plasma glucose,postload glucose,and glycated hemoglobin A1c during the follow-up visit progressively increased across the sex-specific quartiles of serum uric acid(all Ps<0.05).The incidence rate of diabetes increased across the quartiles of serum uric acid(7.43%,8.77%,11.47%,and 13.43%).Multivariate adjusted regression analysis revealed that individuals in the highest quartile had 1.36-fold increased risk of diabetes compared with those in the lowest quartile of serum uric acid(odds ratio(95%confidence interval)=1.36(1.06−1.73)).Stratified analysis indicated that the association was only observed in women.Accordingly,serum uric acid was associated with the increased risk of incident diabetes among middle-aged and elderly Chinese women.Di Cheng Chunyan Hu Rui Du Hongyan Qi Lin Lin Xueyan Wu Lina Ma Kui Peng Mian Li Min Xu Yu Xu Yufang Bi Weiqing Wang Yuhong Chen Jieli Lu 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:3
2DNA methylation profile is associated with the osteogenic potential of three distinct human odontogenic stem cells显示文摘Among the various sources of human autologous stem cells,stem cells isolated from dental tissues exhibit excellent properties in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.However,the distinct potential of these odontogenic cell lines remains unclear.In this study,we analyzed DNA methylation patterns to determine whether specific differences existed among three different odontogenic cell types.Using the HumanMethylation450 Beadchip,the whole genomes of human dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs),periodontal ligament stem cells(PDLSCs),and dental follicle progenitor cells(DFPCs)were compared.Then,the osteogenic potential of these cells was evaluated both in vitro and in vivo,and the methylation levels of certain genes related to bone formation differed among the three cell lines.P values less than 0.05 were considered to indicate statistical significance.The three cell types showed highly similar DNA methylation patterns,although specific differences were identified.Gene ontology analysis revealed that one of the most significantly different gene categories was related to bone formation.Thus,expression of cell surface epitopes and osteogenic-related transcription factors as well as the bone formation capacity were compared.The results showed that compared with DFPCs and DPSCs,PDLSCs had higher transcription levels of osteogenic-related factors,a higher in vitro osteogenic potential,and an increased new bone formation capacity in vivo.In conclusion,the results of this study suggested that the differential DNA methylation profiles could be related to the osteogenic potential of these human odontogenic cell populations.Additionally,the increased osteogenic potential of PDLSCs might aid researchers or clinicians in making better choices regarding tissue regeneration and clinical therapies.Tingting Ai Jieni Zhang Xuedong Wang Xiaowen Zheng Xueyan Qin Qian Zhang Weiran Li Wei Hu Jiuxiang Lin Feng Chen 2018Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2018,3,1:3
3Chemical composition of walnuts from three regions in China显示文摘To reveal the characteristic chemicals of walnuts from different origins, we analyzed fatty acid composition,tocopherols, phytosterols and total phenolic content (TPC) of walnuts from three main producing regions inChina. The results showed that walnuts were rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, and the ratio of ω-6 to ω-3 fattyacids was close to the recommendation of Chinese Nutrition Society. Moreover, walnuts contain high contents oftocopherols (331.20–414.71 mg/kg), phytosterols (97.17–110.35 mg/100 g) and phenols (38.51–48.08 mg GAE/kg). Significant chemical differences exist among walnuts from three production regions. The highest content ofpolyunsaturated fatty acids was found in walnuts from the northern China, the highest content of tocopherols inwalnuts from southwest China, and the highest contents of phytosterol and TPC in walnuts from northwest China.However, there was no significant difference in the tocopherol, phytosterol and TPC content of walnuts betweenthe Northern China and Northwest China. 4Heavy Metal Pollution and Ecological Risk Assessment of Cultivated Land Soil in the Farming Areas of Coastal China:A Case Study of Donghai County,Jiangsu Province显示文摘Classical statistics,Inverse Distance Weighted and Hakasnson potential ecological index were used to study the distribution characteristics of 8 kinds of heavy metals( Cr,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Cd,Pb and Hg) as well as their potential ecological risks in the topsoil( 0-20 cm) of cultivated land in Donghai County,a typical agricultural area along the Southeast Coast of China.The results showed that the average content of heavy metals in the cultivated soil of Donghai County was not over the risk screening values set in the Environmental Quality Standard for Soils.However,it was worth noting that in some of the sampling points,the content of Cr exceeded the risk screening value,and the standard exceeding points accounted for 24.74% of the total.In addition,the average content of Cr,Ni,As,Cd,Pb and Hg exceeded the soil background values of Jiangsu Province,and values for Cd,Cr and Pb were more than 1.5 times of the soil background value of Jiangsu Province.The heavy metals were at the medium integrated potential ecological risk level,and the potential ecological risk indices were high in the east and low in the west,and distributed in interlaced island shape.The potential ecological risk indices of the plains in the east were higher than those of the central gentle slope area and the western hillock area.The potential ecological risk was at a high level in Niushan Town which was situated the county center and in some regions with high urbanization levels.Ligang LYU Xiaorui WANG Xueyan SUI Zhenyu LIU Yong YUAN Chen LIN 2018Agricultural Biotechnology2018,7,6:2
5Regulation of mTORC1 by amino acids in mammalian cells: A general picture of recent advances显示文摘The mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1)integrates various types of signal inputs,such as energy,growth factors,and amino acids to regulate cell growth and proliferation mainly through the 2 direct downstream targets,eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 E-binding protein 1(4 EBP1)and ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1(S6 K1).Most of the signal arms upstream of mTORCl including energy status,stress signals,and growth factors converge on the tuberous sclerosis complex(TSC)-Ras homologue enriched in brain(Rheb)axis.Amino acids,however,are distinct from other signals and modulate mTORCl using a unique pathway.In recent years,the transmission mechanism of amino acid signals upstream of mTORCl has been gradually elucidated,and some sensors or signal transmission pathways for individual amino acids have also been discovered.With the help of these findings,we propose a general picture of recent advances,which demonstrates that various amino acids from lysosomes,cytoplasm,and Golgi are sensed by their respective sensors.These signals converge on mTORCl and form a huge and complicated signal network with multiple synergies,antagonisms,and feedback mechanisms.Shizhe Zhang Xueyan Lin Qiuling Hou Zhiyong Hu Yun Wang Zhonghua Wang 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:2
6Graphene metalens for particle nanotracking显示文摘Particle nanotracking(PNT)is highly desirable in lab-on-a-chip systems for flexible and convenient multiparameter measurement.An ultrathin flat lens is the preferred imaging device in such a system,with the advantage of high focusing performance and compactness.However,PNT using ultrathin flat lenses has not been demonstrated so far because PNT requires the clear knowledge of the relationship between the object and image in the imaging system.Such a relationship still remains elusive in ultrathin flat lens-based imaging systems because they operate based on diffraction rather than refraction.In this paper,we experimentally reveal the imaging relationship of a graphene metalens using nanohole arrays with micrometer spacing.The distance relationship between the object and image as well as the magnification ratio is acquired with nanometer accuracy.The measured imaging relationship agrees well with the theoretical prediction and is expected to be applicable to other ultrathin flat lenses based on the diffraction principle.By analyzing the high-resolution images from the graphene metalens using the imaging relationship,3D trajectories of particles with high position accuracy in PNT have been achieved.The revealed imaging relationship for metalenses is essential in designing different types of integrated optical systems,including digital cameras,microfluidic devices,virtual reality devices,telescopes,and eyeglasses,and thus will find broad applications.XUEYAN LI SHIBIAO WEI GUIYUAN CAO HAN LIN YUEJIN ZHAO BAOHUA JIA 2020Photonics Research2020,8,8:2

11Distribution of phytoplankton in the East China Sea and the southern Yellow Sea in spring in relation to environmental variables and dimethylsulfide compounds显示文摘The coastal ecosystems are highly sensitive to climate change and are usually influenced by variations in phytoplankton communities and water physiochemical factors.In the present study,the phytoplankton community,chlorophyll a(Chl a)and their relationships with environmental variables and dimethylsulfide(DMS)and dimethylsulfoniopropionate(DMSP)were investigated in spring 2017(March 24 to April 16)in the East China Sea(26.0°-33.0°N,120.0°-128.0°E)and southern Yellow Sea(31.0°-36.0°N,120.0°-125.0°E).The spatial distributions of phytoplankton species composition and cell density were investigated by qualitative and quantitative methods and were compared with historical data to study phytoplankton species succession in the survey area.The results showed that there were 275 phytoplankton species belonging to 90 genera and 6 phyla in the survey area,of which 208 species belonged to 62 genera of Bacillariophyta and 56 species belonged to 20 genera of Pyrrophyta.The dominant phytoplankton species were Skeletonema dohrnii,Chaetoceros vanheurckii and Prorocentrum donghaiense.The phytoplankton cell densities ranged from 0.06×10^(4)cells/L to 418.73×10^(4)cells/L,with an average value of 21.46×10^(4)cells/L.In spring,the average ratio of Bacillariophyta/Pyrrophyta was41.13 for the entire study area.The areas with high phytoplankton cell density were mainly distributed in the northern South Yellow Sea and offshore waters of the East China Sea.According to a canonical correspondence analysis among phytoplankton and environmental parameters,the water Chl a concentrations were notably consistent with phytoplankton cell density(P<0.001),and both showed significant negative correlations with salinity and nitrite(P<0.05)and significant positive correlations with dissolved oxygen and pH(P<0.001).There was a significant positive correlation between diatom(both in cell density and in dominant species)and DMS(P<0.05),which indicated that diatoms play a greater role in DMS production in this investigated area.Jiawei Zhang Yanghang Chen Xueyan Ren Vishal Patil Lin Sun Xuesong Li Junrong Liang Jun Zhang Yahui Gao Changping Chen 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,6:1
12A pilot study on ^(99m)Tc-3PRGD2 scintigraphy in diagnosis of brain glioma显示文摘The 99mTc-3PRGD2 targeted SPECT/CT scanning was of significance in detecting differentiated glioma.In this work,the diagnostic value of 99mTc-3PRGD2 scintigraphy in brain glioma was evaluated by the ten clinically verified brain glioma patients after obtaining informed consent.The patients first accepted X-ray imaging to localize the detecting regions before administrating with 99mTc-3PRGD2 at a mean radioactivity of 849±115 MBq via single intravenous bolus injection 2 h prior to SPECT/CT imaging.Tumor samples for detectingαvβ3 were collected by surgical operations two weeks after the scintigraphy.The results of CT and SPECT scanning were merged and compared.The correlation between tumor occupation(T/N ratio) andαvβ3 expression level were analyzed.The T/N ratios in brain glioma were proportionally correlated to av(33 positive cell percentage(R2=0.9253,p<0.05).This study primarily evaluated the clinical application of 99mTc-3PRGD2 SPECT scintigraphy on brain glioma.The more pathological types and detecting strategies covering a large amount of samples would aid to clarify the potentials.GAO Shi MA Qingjie CUI Qu LIU Lin ZHOU Xueyan JIA Bing CHEN Zuowei ZHANG Haishan 2013Nuclear Science and Techniques2013,24,2:1

15Process-microstructure-properties of CuAlNi shape memory alloys fabricated by laser powder bed fusion显示文摘Cu-based shape memory alloys(SMAs)show great potential in the application of high temperature,but their performance improvement combining with additive manufacturing is still challenging.In this paper,nearly defect-free(99.7%relative density)CuAlNi SMAs with two types of thermal-induced martensites,18R and 2H,were successfully fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The remelting printing strat-egy with systematic optimization framework including densification and printability analysis was used to get optimal process window.The twin-related self-accommodation structure with long period stacking order substructure was formed during additive manufacturing process.The as-build samples show excel-lent mechanical properties(ultimate compressive strength of 1593±10 MPa and large fracture strain of 23.0%±0.1%)with double-yielding,and outstanding shape memory effect,with maximum recoverable strain of 3.39% and nearly 100%recovery rate under compressive strain not exceeding 6%.Furthermore,the microstructural evolution in LPBF involving remelting,martensitic transformation,and 2H marten-site was discussed.This result not only builds the microstructure framework involving high reflectivity alloys and martensitic transformation but also provides insight into the applicability of LPBF process in producing Cu-based SMAs.Yankun Zhang Lianyong Xu Lei Zhao Danyang Lin Minqian Liu Xueyan Qi Yongdian Han 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,21:0

17The therapy and mechanisms of replication-deficient recombinant adenovirus Ad-p14ARF in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Objective: To study the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of recombinant adenovirus Ad-p14ARF in hepatocel- lular carcinoma cell lines. Methods: Morphology and trypan blue assay were adopted to evaluate the proliferation of different liver cancer cells after Ad-p14ARF infection. Cell apoptosis was confirmed by detecting phosphatidylserine (PS) externaliza- tion with Annexin V/PI double staining. Western blotting assay analyzed the expression of related proteins. Subcutaneous tumor model of BEL7402 was established to evaluate the therapeutic ability of Ad-p14ARF. Results: Ad-p14ARF suppressed cell growth, proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis of cancer cell lines with different genetic background. Ad-p14ARF in- hibited growth of liver cancer cells (HepG2, BEL7402) in a dose-dependent manner. Ad-p14ARF leaded to overexpression of Bax and p21, which were the downstream regulating genes of p53. Ad-p14ARF suppressed tumor growth significantly in the experimental therapy in nude mice bearing subcutaneous tumor of BEL7402. Conclusion: P14ARF gene is a powerful tumor suppressor gene to be used in cancer gene therapy. 18Three Novel Mutations of APC Gene Found in a Chinese Family with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis显示文摘Objective:To identify the causative adenomatous polyposis coli(APC)gene defects associated with a pedigree of familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP).Methods:FAP was diagnosed based on clinical manifestations,family history,as well as endoscopic and pathological examinations.The blood samples of the FAP pedigree members,colonic polyp patients,and normal individuals were collected.Genomic DNA was then extracted from those samples.APC mutation analysis was conducted via direct polymerase chain reaction(PCR)sequencing.Results:Three synonymous mutations and a missense mutation were found:c.5034G>A(p.Glyl678Gly),c.5465T>A(p.Vall 822Asp),c.5880G>A(p.Prol960Pro),and c.5274T>G(p.Serl758Ser)・Among them,the homozygous mutation on APC gene c.5034G>A has been reported,while the other three mutations have not been reported in the Chinese Han population.Individuals with c.5465T>A(p.Vall822ASP)missense mutation eventually suffer from colon cancer and have poor prognosis.We found no mutation in patients with simple intestinal polyp and in normal individuals.In addition,there were homozygous and heterozygous mutations in different patients from the same family.Conclusion:Three new mutations of APC gene were firstly reported in Han population.The missense mutation of c.5465T>A(p.Vall 822Asp)may be the cause of carcinogenesis in this FAP pedigree with poor prognosis.Shujuan Gao Min Lin Yan Jin Zhuona Wang Yunqing Zhu Guisheng Liu Xueyan Guo 2022Journal of Clinical and Nursing Research2022,6,3:0
19Effects of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide on cytokines in adolescents with subthreshold depression:a randomized controlled study显示文摘Strong evidence has accumulated to show a correlation between depression symptoms and inflammatory responses.Moreover,anti-inflammatory treatment has shown partial effectiveness in alleviating depression symptoms.Lycium barbarum polysaccharide(LBP),derived from Goji berries,exhibits notable antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.In our recent double-blinded randomized placebo-controlled trial,we found that LBP significantly reduced depressive symptoms in adolescents with subthreshold depression.It is presumed that the antidepressant effect of LBP may be associated with its influence on inflammatory cytokines.In the double-blinded randomized controlled trial,we enrolled 29 adolescents with subthreshold depression and randomly divided them into an LBP group and a placebo group.In the LBP group,adolescents were given 300 mg/d LBP.A 6-week follow up was completed by 24 adolescents,comprising 14 adolescents from the LBP group(15.36±2.06 years,3 men and 11 women)and 10 adolescents from the placebo group(14.9±1.6 years,2 men and 8 women).Our results showed that after 6 weeks of treatment,the interleukin-17A level in the LBP group was lower than that in the placebo group.Network analysis showed that LBP reduced the correlations and connectivity between inflammatory factors,which were associated with the improvement in depressive symptoms.These findings suggest that 6-week administration of LBP suppresses the immune response by reducing interleukin-17A level,thereby exerting an antidepressant effect.Xiaoyue Li Tao Liu Xuan Mo Runhua Wang Xueyan Kong Robin Shao Roger S.Mclntyre Kwok-Fai So Kangguang Lin 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,9:0
20Responses in splanchnic and mammary amino acid metabolism to short-term graded removal of methionine in lactating goats显示文摘Four multi-catheterized lactating goats were used in a 4×4 Latin square experiment to investigate the responses of amino acid metabolism in portal-drained viscera(PDV),liver,and mammary glands to short-term varying supplies of methionine(Met).During the last 45 h in each experimental period,goats were fasted for 12 h and then abomasally infused with an amino acid(AA)mixture plus glucose for 33 h.Treatments consisted of graded removal of Met from an infused AA mixture to achieve Met content in the infusate of 100%(complete),60%,30%,or 0%that in casein.Graded Met removal decreased the pro-duction of milk,milk protein,lactose,and fat linearly whilst also decreasing arterial Met concentration linearly(P<0.05).Meanwhile,net PDV uptake and liver removal of Met decreased linearly(P<0.05)due to decreased Met affinity of PDV and liver(P<0.05).Net mammary uptake of Met(P>0.1)was maintained as Met supply declined.This was achieved through increased mammary affinity(P<0.05)and increased mammary blood flow(P<0.05)totally offsetting the negative effect of decreased circu-lating Met concentration.Graded removal of Met from the infusate linearly decreased mammary uptake-to-milk output ratios of Met(P<0.05)and tended to decrease essential amino acid(EAA)linearly(0.05Yantao Li Mark D.Hanigan Xueyan Lin Zhiyong Hu Zhengui Yan Qiuling Hou Yun Wang Zhonghua Wang 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,2:0
