1Transition of axial segregation patterns in a long rotating drum显示文摘Axial segregation of a bidisperse mixture of particles in a long rotating drum is studied using the discrete element method. Simulation results show that particle interaction is responsible for axial segregation,the patterns of which are influenced by the end wall effect. Axial segregation patterns transform under competing influences of the end walls and the particle interaction forces. The two influential factors vary with various rotational speeds and end wall friction levels. 4Build in seconds:Small-molecule hydrogels of self-assembled tryptophan derivatives显示文摘Small-molecule hydrogels based on amino acid derivatives have promising applications in many biological fields,including cell culture,drug delivery,and tissue engineering.Although these hydrogels have been widely reported to have low cytotoxicity,biocompatibility,and tunable bioactivity,problems such as harsh preparation conditions and complex material design hinder their application.Herein,by adjusting pH to induce non-covalent interactions between small-molecule tryptophan derivatives(N-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]-L-tryptophan,Mw:338.35),we developed a self-assembled three-dimensional network hydrogel that can be rapidly formed in seconds.And the supramolecular self-assembly mechanism of the hydrogels was also investigated in detail through experimental characterizations and density functional theory calculation.As-prepared hydrogels also exhibit reversible pH-stimulated response and self-healing properties.This study details a research process for the simple and rapid preparation of tryptophan derivative-based hydrogels,which provides more reference ideas for the future development of materials based on other amino acid derivatives.Xianwen Song Jun Zheng Shunmei He Yilin Liu Shutong Yang Qiang Li Chuntai Liu Zequn Zhang Xi Liu Chunyan Deng Yi Zhang 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,8:0
5Culture of patient-derived multicellular clusters in suspended hydrogel capsules for pre-clinical personalized drug screening显示文摘A personalized medication regimen provides precise treatment for an individual and can be guided by pre-clinical drug screening.The economical and high-efficiency simulation of the liver tumor microenvironment(TME)in a drug-screening model has high value yet challenging to accomplish.Herein,we propose a simulation of the liver TME with suspended alginate-gelatin hydrogel capsules encapsulating patient-derived liver tumor multicellular clusters,and the culture of patient-derived tumor organoids(PDTOs)for personalized pre-clinical drug screening.The hydrogel capsule offers a 3D matrix environment with mechanical and biological properties similar to those of the liver in vivo.As a result,18 of the 28 patient-derived multicellular clusters were successfully cultured as PDTOs.These PDTOs,along with hepatocyte growth factor(HGF)of non-cellular components,preserve stromal cells,including cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)and vascular endothelial cells(VECs).They also maintain stable expression of molecular markers and tumor heterogeneity similar to those of the original liver tumors.Drugs,including cabazitaxel,oxaliplatin,and sorafenib,were tested in PDTOs.The sensitivity of PDTOs to these drugs differs between individuals.The sensitivity of one PDTO to oxaliplatin was validated using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and biochemical tests after oxaliplatin clinical treatment of the corresponding patient.Therefore,this approach is promising for economical,accurate,and high-throughput drug screening for personalized treatment.Haijiang Dong Zequn Li Suchen Bian Guangyuan Song Wenfeng Song Mingqi Zhang Haiyang Xie Shusen Zheng Xuxu Yang Tiefeng Li Penghong Song 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,12:0
6Program Error Mitigation in MLC NAND Flash Memory with Soft Decision Decoders显示文摘Benefiting from strong decoding capabilities,soft-decision decoding has been used to replace hard-decision decoding in various communication systems,and NAND flash memory systems are no exception.However,soft-decision decoding relies heavily on accurate soft information.Owing to the incremental step pulse programming(ISPP),program errors(PEs)in multi-level cell(MLC)NAND flash memory have different characteristics compared to other types of errors,which is very difficult to obtain such accurate soft information.Therefore,the characteristics of the log-likelihood ratio(LLR)of PEs are investigated first in this paper.Accordingly,a PE-aware statistical method is proposed to determine the usage of PE mitigation schemes.In order to reduce the PE estimating workload of the controller,an adaptive blind clipping(ABC)scheme is proposed subsequently to approximate the PEs contaminated LLR with different decoding trials.Finally,simulation results demonstrate that(1)the proposed PE-aware statistical method is effective in practice,and(2)ABC scheme is able to provide satisfactory bit error rate(BER)and frame error rate(FER)performance in a penalty of negligible increasing of decoding latency.Zequn Fang Zheng Ma Xiaohu Tang Yue Xiao Youhua Tang 2021China Communications2021,18,4:0
7Apigenin ameliorates imiquimod-induced psoriasis in C57BL/6J mice by inactivating STAT3 and NF-κB显示文摘Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease featured by patches on the skin.It is caused by malfunction of immune cells and keratinocytes with inflammation as one of its key features.Apigenin(API)is a natural flavonoid with anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties.Therefore,we speculated that API can ameliorate psoriasis,and determined its effect on the development of psoriasis by using imiquimod(IMQ)-induced psoriasis mouse model.Our results showed that API attenuated IMQ-induced phenotypic changes,such as erythema,scaling and epidermal thickening,and improved splenic hyperplasia.Abnormal differentiation of immune cells was restored in API-treated mice.Mechanistically,we revealed that API is a key regulator of signal transducer activator of transcription 3(STAT3).API regulated immune responses by reducing interleukin-23(IL-23)/STAT3/IL-17A axis.Moreover,it suppressed IMQ-caused cell hyperproliferation by inactivating STAT3 through regulation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)pathway.Furthermore,API reduced expression of inflammatory cytokines through inactivation of NF-κB.Taken together,our study demonstrates that API can ameliorate psoriasis and may be considered as a strategy for psoriasis treatment.Xianshe Meng Shihong Zheng Zequn Yin Xuerui Wang Daigang Yang Tingfeng Zou Huaxin Li Yuanli Chen Chenzhong Liao Zhouling Xie Xiaodong Fan Jihong Han Yajun Duan Xiaoxiao Yang 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,1:0
