1Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor mRNA expression in a rat model of spinal cord injury following bone marrow stromal cell transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND: Several animal experiments utilizing bone marrow stromal cell (BMSC) transplantation for the treatment of spinal cord injury have proposed a hypothesis that BMSC transplantation effects are associated with increased glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) expression. OBJECTIVE: To confirm the effects of BMSC transplantation on GDNF mRNA expression in rats with spinal cord injury by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The present molecular, cell biology experiment was performed at the Key Laboratory of Children's Congenital Malformation, Ministry of Health of China & Department of Developmental Biology, Basic Medical College, China Medical University between March 2006 and May 2007. MATERIALS: Sixty healthy Wistar rats aged 2-4-months and of either gender were included in this study. Spinal cord injury was induced in all rats by hemisection of T9 on the left side. RT-PCR kits were purchased from TaKaRa Company, China. Type 9600 RCR amplifier was provided by PerkinElmer Company, USA. METHODS: Three rats were selected for BMSC culture and subsequent transplantation (after three passages). Of the remaining 57 rats, nine were selected for sham-operation (sham-operated group), where only the T9 spinal cord was exposed without hemisection. A total of 48 rats were randomly and evenly divided into BMSC transplantation and model groups. In the BMSC transplantation group, following spinal cord injury induction, each rat was administered a BMSC suspension through two injection sites selected on the gray and white matter boundary caudally and cephalically, seperately and near to injury site in the spinal cord. The model group received an equal volume of PBS through the identical injection sites. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At 24 and 72 hours, as well as at 7 days, following spinal cord injury, the spinal cord at the T 9 segment was removed. Eight rats were allocated to each time point in the BMSC transplantation and model groups, with three rats allocated to the sham-operated group. GDNF mRNA expression was semiquantitatively analyzed by RT-PCR. RESULTS: The sham-operated group exhibited extremely low GDNF mRNA expression. GDNF mRNA expression significantly increased at 24 hours after spinal cord injury, reached a peak level at 72 hours, and slowly decreased thereafter. However, it remained higher than normal levels at 7 days (P < 0.05). At all time points following spinal cord injury, GDNF mRNA expression was significantly greater in the BMSC transplantation group than in the model group (P < 0.05). 2Singularity Analysis of a 3-RPS Parallel Manipulator Using Geometric Algebra显示文摘Singular configurations must be avoided in path planning and control of a parallel manipulator. However, most studies rarely focus on an overall singularity loci distribution of lower-mobility parallel mechanisms. Geometric algebra is employed in analysis of singularity of a 3-RPS parallel manipulator. Twist and wrench in screw theory are represented in geometric algebra. Linear dependency of twists and wrenches are described by outer product in geometric algebra. Reciprocity between twists and constraint wrenches are reflected by duality. To compute the positions of the three spherical joints of the 3-RPS parallel manipulator, Tilt-and-Torsion angles are used to describe the orientation of the moving platform. The outer product of twists and constraint wrenches is used as an index for closeness to singularity(ICS) of the 3-RPS parallel manipulator. 3Comparison of thermal and light performance in two typical Chinese solar greenhouses in Beijing显示文摘Solar greenhouses have been used for producing vegetables in northern China during early spring,late autumn or over-winter.To improve the thermal performance of solar greenhouses,a traditional type and a retrofitted design were comparatively evaluated.In the retrofitted design,three adjustments were incorporated:the material and structure of the walls,south-facing roof angle,and structure of the north-facing back-roof.The results indicated that the thermal and light performance of the retrofitted greenhouse was much better than that of the traditional greenhouse.Specifically,the daily mean temperature,minimum air temperature,and soil temperature inside the greenhouses after retrofit ting were increased by 1.3,2.4,and 1.9℃,respectively,meanwhile,the daily total solar radiation and PAR were increased by 28.2%and 9.2%,respectively.The wall temperature and its daily variation range were reduced with increasing depth and height.The characteristic analysis of heat storage and release indicated that higher locations have longer heat storage,and shorter heat release time in vertical direction,as well as a lower ratio of heat release to storage.In horizontal direction,the western wall has the shortest heat storage time but the highest heat release flux density.Altogether,the heat storage time of the wall is 1.5 h less than that of the soil.The heat storage flux density of the wall is 1.5 times of that of the soil,but the heat release flux is only 61%of the soil’s value.The total wall heat storage is half of that of the soil in the greenhouse;the total wall heat release amount is only a quarter of that of the soil.Therefore,the thermal environment of solar greenhouses can be further improved by improving the thermal insulation properties of the wall.Fan Xu Chao Shang Hongling Li Xuzhang Xue Weituo Sun Hong Chen Yinkun Li Zhenhe Zhang Xinxu Li Wenzhong Guo 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,1:4
4Polyvinyl acetate/poly(amide-12-b-ethylene oxide) blend membranes for carbon dioxide separation显示文摘In this paper,blend membranes from polyvinyl acetate(PVAc)and block copolymer poly(amide-12-b-ethylene oxide)(Pebax1074)are prepared by solution casting and solvent evaporation method.Although they are homogeneous on a macro-scale,the observations from DSC and SEM indicate micro-phase separation for PVAc/Pebax1074 blend membranes.With the increase of Pebax1074 content,gas permeabilities of CO2,H2,N2and CH4all increase greatly.PVAc/Pebax1074 blend membranes with high PVAc content are appropriate for CO2/CH4separation.The temperature dependence of gas permeability is divided into rubbery region and glassy region.The activation energies of permeation in rubbery region are smaller than those in glassy region,and they all decrease with increasing Pebax1074 content.For N2,H2and CH4,their gas permeation properties are mainly influenced by the dual-mode sorption and hydrostatic pressure effect.But for CO2,its permeability increases with the increase of pressure due to CO2-induced plasticization effect,which is more obvious for PVAc/Pebax1074 blend membranes with high PVAc content.Shichao Feng Jizhong Ren Hui Li Kaisheng Hua Xinxue Li Maicun Deng 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,6:1
5An anti-freezing biomineral hydrogel of high strain sensitivity for artificial skin applications显示文摘Mineral hydrogels have caught a lot of attention for their strong competency as artificial skin-like materials.Nonetheless,it remains a great difficulty in fulfilling in one hydrogel system a range of key functionalities that are needed for practical artificial skin applications,i.e.,to be biocompatible,strain-sensitive,ion-conductive,elastic and robust,anti-swelling,and anti-freezing.Here we present a such type of versatile hydrogel that is not only capable to deliver all the above-mentioned key functionalities but also highly stable.This novel hydrogel is constructed by introducing a gelatinous and amorphous multi-ionic biomineral(denoted as Mg-ACCP,containing Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),CO_(3)^(2−),and PO_(4)^(3−))into the network of biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)and sodium alginate(SA).The presence of Mg^(2+)and PO_(4)^(3−)in this hydrogel helps prohibit the crystallization of the biominerals,leading to significantly improved stability.The hydrogel thus obtained delivers excellent mechanical performance due to the chelation between the mineral ions and the organic matrix,and high sensitivity even to subtle pressure and strain applied,such as slight finger bending and gentle tapping.Furthermore,the novel hydrogel features high ionic conductivity,high resistance to swelling,and extraordinary anti-freezing property,holding great promise for applications in different practical scenarios,particularly in aqueous or cold environments.Junda Shen Peng Du Binbin Zhou Guobin Zhang Xinxue Tang Jie Pan Bo Li Jingyang Zhang Jian Lu Yang Yang Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:1

7A fast computational method for the landing footprints of space-to-ground vehicles显示文摘Fast computation of the landing footprint of a space-to-ground vehicle is a basic requirement for the deployment of parking orbits, as well as for enabling decision makers to develop real-time programs of transfer trajectories. In order to address the usually slow computational time for the determination of the landing footprint of a space-to-ground vehicle under finite thrust, this work proposes a method that uses polynomial equations to describe the boundaries of the landing footprint and uses back propagation(BP) neural networks to quickly determine the landing footprint of the space-to-ground vehicle. First, given orbital parameters and a manoeuvre moment, the solution model of the landing footprint of a space-to-ground vehicle under finite thrust is established. Second, given arbitrary orbital parameters and an arbitrary manoeuvre moment, a fast computational model for the landing footprint of a space-to-ground vehicle based on BP neural networks is provided.Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that under the premise of ensuring accuracy, the proposed method can quickly determine the landing footprint of a space-to-ground vehicle with arbitrary orbital parameters and arbitrary manoeuvre moments. 12Simple and High-Efficiency Preparation Method of Biometric 3D Artificial Compound Eyes for Wide-Field Imaging显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)artificial compound eyes(ACEs)are helpful for wide field-o-fview imaging and sensing system applications.However,existing batch preparation methods are technically challenging.A bio-inspired,simple,and high-efficiency batch preparation method is proposed,which involves bonding a sticky microlens array(MLA)polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)film to an elastic PDMS hemisphere under pressure,followed by abrupt pressure removal.Characterizations from a scanning electron microscope and laser scanning confocal microscope show that 3D ACEs prepared using the proposed method have high numbers of uniformly distributed ommatidia with a high-quality finish.Furthermore,optical imaging investigations demonstrate that the proposed preparation method can achieve clear,distortionfree imaging with a wide field-of-view(up to 140.2°).Wu Xinxue Fang Chaolong Li Zhihong Zhang Yaoju 2021激光与光电子学进展2021,58,12:0
13Genomic and transcriptomic dissection of Theionarchaea in marine ecosystem显示文摘Theionarchaea is a recently described archaeal class within the Euryarchaeota.While it is widely distributed in sediment ecosystems,little is known about its metabolic potential and ecological features.Here,we used metagenomics and metatranscriptomics to characterize 12 theionarchaeal metagenome-assembled genomes,which were further divided into two subgroups,from coastal mangrove sediments of China and seawater columns of the Yap Trench.Genomic analysis revealed that apart from the canonical sulfhydrogenase,Theionarchaea harbor genes encoding heliorhodopsin,group 4[NiFe]-hydrogenase,and flagellin,in which genes for heliorhodopsin and group 4[NiFe]-hydrogenase were transcribed in mangrove sediment.Further,the theionarchaeal substrate spectrum may be broader than previously reported as revealed by metagenomics and metatranscriptomics,and the potential carbon substrates include detrital proteins,hemicellulose,ethanol,and CO_(2).The genes for organic substrate metabolism(mainly detrital protein and amino acid metabolism genes)have relatively higher transcripts in the top sediment layers in mangrove wetlands.In addition,co-occurrence analysis suggested that the degradation of these organic compounds by Theionarchaea might be processed in syntrophy with fermenters(e.g.,Chloroflexi)and methanogens.Collectively,these observations expand the current knowledge of the metabolic potential of Theionarchaea,and shed light on the metabolic strategies and roles of these archaea in the marine ecosystems.Mingwei Cai Changhai Duan Xinxu Zhang Jie Pan Yang Liu Cuijing Zhang Meng Li 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,6:0
14Effect of poly(ethylene glycol) molecular weight on CO_2/N_2 separation performance of poly(amide-12-b-ethylene oxide)/poly(ethylene glycol) blend membranes显示文摘Membranes from block copolymer poly(amide-12-b-ethylene oxide)(Pebax1074) and its blends with different molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)(200, 400, 600, 1500, 4600 and 8000) were prepared. The thermal properties and structures of Pebax1074/PEG blend membranes were characterized by DSC and SEM, and the gas permeation properties of CO_2 and N_2 were also investigated at different temperatures. For Pebax1074/PEG blend membranes with low molecular weight PEG(MW≤ 600), higher gas permeabilities than Pebax1074 were achieved. The permeability increased with the increase of PEG molecular weight. The addition of low molecular weight PEG resulted in decrease in activation energy of permeation. For Pebax1074/PEG blend membranes with high molecular weight PEG(MW≥ 1500), due to the melt of PEO phase crystals, the gas permeation properties of blend membranes were temperaturedependent, which could be divided into crystalline region, transition region and amorphous region according to two different transition temperatures. PEG molecular weight and operation temperature determined different gas permeation properties of Pebax1074/PEG blend membranes in three regions. 15Genomic insights into versatile lifestyle of three new bacterial candidate phyla显示文摘Metagenomic explorations of the Earth's biosphere enable the discovery of previously unknown bacterial lineages of phylogenetic and ecological significance.Here,we retrieved 11 metagenomic-assembled genomes(MAGs)affiliated to three new monophyletic bacterial lineages from the seawater of the Yap Trench.Phylogenomic analysis revealed that each lineage is a new bacterial candidate phylum,subsequently named Candidatus Qinglongiota,Candidatus Heilongiota,and Candidatus Canglongiota.Metabolic reconstruction of genomes from the three phyla suggested that they adopt a versatile lifestyle,with the potential to utilize various types of sugars,proteins,and/or short-chain fatty acids through anaerobic pathways.This was further confirmed by a global distribution map of the three phyla,indicating a preference for oxygen-limited or particle-attached niches,such as anoxic sedimentary environments.Of note,Candidatus Canglongiota genomes harbor genes for the complete WoodLjungdahl pathway and sulfate reduction that are similar to those identified in some sulfate-reducing bacteria.Evolutionary analysis indicated that gene gain and loss events,and horizontal gene transfer(HGT)play important roles in shaping the genomic and metabolic features of the three new phyla.This study presents the genomic insight into the ecology,metabolism,and evolution of three new phyla,which broadens the phylum-level diversity within the domain Bacteria.Xinxu Zhang Zongbao Liu Wei Xu Jie Pan Yuhan Huang Mingwei Cai Zhuhua Luo Meng Li 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,8:0
16Improving luminescence and thermometric performance of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):Er^(3+) by tri-doping with Yb^(3+) and Na^(+)显示文摘The Er3+doped double perovskite Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) crystal is a promising ratiometric thermometer based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR) of transitions from ^(2)H_(11/2) and ^(4)S_(3/2) to the lowered ^(4)I_(15/2) level.However,the Ca^(2+) vacancy defect caused by the charge difference between rare-earth ions and the substituted alkaline-earth ions gives rise to the non-radiative probability and limits the thermal sensitivity.Here,the up-conversion luminescence and thermometric performance of Er^(3+),Yb^(3+) dopedBa_(2)CaWO_(6) are tuned by tri-doping with alkaline ions.The Ca^(2+) vacancy defect can be eliminated by the introduction of Na^(+),which occupies the Ca^(2+) site when it is doped into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+).On the contrary,the doping of Cs^(+) into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+) enhances the defect concentration because it occupies the site of Ba^(2+).Thus,the tri-doping of Na^(+) reduces the non-radiative probability and enhances the quantum efficiency of Er^(3+),leading to the improvement of the thermometric sensitivity of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6).As a result,we get an excellent thermometric Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):8%Yb^(3+),3.5%Er^(3+),6%Na^(+) powder with a luminescence lifetime of 515 μs and maximum thermal sensitivity(S_(r)) of 1.45%/K,which is more than three times higher than that of the BCWO:Er^(3+) powder.Lingyun Li Ziwei Zhou Fazheng Huang Senlin Peng Yantang Huang Guoqiang Wang Xinxu Li Fei-Fei Chen Chengkai Yang Xin-Xiong Li Yan Yu 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,1:0
17N-Acety-L-Cysteine-Stabilized Pt Nanozyme for Colorimetric Assay of Heparin显示文摘N-Acety-L-cysteine(NAC),enriched with multiple electron-rich groups involving-SH,-C=O,and-COOH,exhibits strong affinities to transition metal ions.Herein,NAC was adopted as the stabilizing agent to synthesize a series of peroxidase-like Pt nanoclusters(NCs)with different physicochemical properties.Both the cluster size and the charge state of NAC-Pt NCs are highly dependent upon the molar ratio of[K_(2)PtCl_(4)]/[NAC],contributing to different peroxidase mimicking activities.The most active Pt nanozyme(~1.7 nm),composed of 60%metallic Pt^(0) and 40%positively charged Pt^(2+)respectively,exhibits the K_(m) of 0.132 mM for 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine and 35 mM for H_(2)O_(2).Based on the heparin-activated enzymatic activ-ity of NAC-Pt at pH 6.0,an ultrasensitive test was established for quantitative determination of heparin,giving the linear response of 0.5-20μg/mL as well as the limit of detection of 2×10^(−3)μg/mL.This proposed method is also applicable in biological fluid for practical applications.Such a colorimetric method possesses several advantages involving high sensitiv-ity,short response,eco-friendly synthesis,low consumption of material and energy,free of expensive instrument,as well as simple operation.Xinxue Li Qingwei Huang Wei Li Jinli Zhang Yan Fu 2019Journal of Analysis and Testing2019,3,3:0
18Effects of Photosynthetic Bacteria-enhanced Biological Floc Replacement Diets on Tilapia Growth,Water Environment and Water Microbial Diversity显示文摘With Oreochromis niloticus as the object of study,glucose was added as a carbon source to promote the formation of the biological flocs for replacing part of the feed,and three gradients were set up,namely Group A(all feed),Group B(replacement of 10%feed)and Group C(replacement of 20%feed),so as to explore the effects of photosynthetic bacteria-enhanced biological flocs on tilapia growth and water environment conditions.Meanwhile,the Biolog-ECO technology was applied to study the changes of microbial carbon metabolism diversity in aquaculture water.The results showed that the utilization of microbial carbon sources under different feed replacement gradients increased with the extension of the culture time.The overall performance was in order of 10%replacement>all feed>20%feed replacement.A suitable replacement rate could not only enhance the overall utilization of carbon sources by water microorganisms,but also save culture costs.The principal component analysis showed that the carbon source metabolism of the water microbial communities under different feed replacement gradients was significantly different.Specifically,polysaccharides,esters and amino acids were the preferred carbon sources of water microbes,while the utilization of amines and acids was low.Yuanyuan DONG Limin FAN Liping QIU Dandan LI Lu QIN Xinxu DONG Jiazhang CHEN 2020Agricultural Biotechnology2020,9,5:0
