| 1 | Toosendanin-induced change of dopamine level detected by microdialysis in vivo at rat striatum显示文摘To investigate the effect on central nervous transmission of toosendanin (TSN), a presynaptic blocker, rat striatum was perfused in vivo with a TSN-containing artificial cere-brospinal fluid (ACSF) and the level of dopamine (DA) as well as related metabolites in the collected dialysates has been determined by a microbore HPLC with electrochemical detection (mi-crobore HPLC-ECD). The results are as follows: ( i ) TSN induced a biphasic change of DA from its basal level;( ii ) the basal contents of two metabolites, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) and homovanillic acid (HVA) increased in turn and stayed at a higher level than basal control for a long period. The basal level of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), a metabolite of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT), had a change similar to that of HVA; (iii) after per-fusion with TSN-containing ACSF, high K+-evoked DA release was inhibited. | 2 | Polymer coated nanodiamonds as gemcitabine prodrug with enzymatic sensitivity for pancreatic cancer treatment显示文摘The fabrication of Gemcitabine(GEM) prodrug was reported to be an effective method to enhance its pancreatic cancer treatment efficiency. Here, a kind of nanocarbon-based materials, nanodiamond(ND), was selected as the nanocarrier of GEM, owing to its outstanding surface properties and non-cytotoxicity. The polyelectrolytes,polyethyleneimine and polyacrylic acid, were used to self-assemble outside ND surface through electrostatic forces, followed by attachment of polyethylene glycol to address better biocompatibility. GEM was conjugated with an enzyme-sensitive peptide gly-phe-leu-gly to build up the controlled release platform. From characterization results of dynamic laser scattering, zeta potential and transmission electron microscope, the significant improvement of ND stability in physiological condition was proved. Non-cytotoxicity of this functionalized ND carriers and cytotoxicity of the prodrug against Bx PC-3 pancreatic cancer cells were indicated by methylthiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay. In vivo experiments also revealed its superior anticancer effect compared with free GEM treatment. | 5 | Anti-atherosclerotic effects and molecular targets of ginkgolide B from Ginkgo biloba显示文摘Bioactive compounds derived from herbal medicinal plants modulate various therapeutic targets and signaling pathways associated with cardiovascular diseases(CVDs),the world’s primary cause of death.Ginkgo biloba,a well-known traditional Chinese medicine with notable cardiovascular actions,has been used as a cardio-and cerebrovascular therapeutic drug and nutraceutical in Asian countries for centuries.Preclinical studies have shown that ginkgolide B,a bioactive component in Ginkgo biloba,can ameliorate atherosclerosis in cultured vascular cells and disease models.Of clinical relevance,several clinical trials are ongoing or being completed to examine the efficacy and safety of ginkgolide B-related drug preparations in the prevention of cerebrovascular diseases,such as ischemia stroke.Here,we present a comprehensive review of the pharmacological activities,pharmacokinetic characteristics,and mechanisms of action of ginkgolide B in atherosclerosis prevention and therapy.We highlight new molecular targets of ginkgolide B,including nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidases(NADPH oxidase),lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1(LOX-1),sirtuin 1(SIRT1),platelet-activating factor(PAF),proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9(PCSK9)and others.Finally,we provide an overview and discussion of the therapeutic potential of ginkgolide B and highlight the future perspective of developing ginkgolide B as an effective therapeutic agent for treating atherosclerosis. | Weile Ye Jiaojiao Wang Peter JLittle Jiami Zou Zhihua Zheng Jing Lu Yanjun Yin Hao Liu Dongmei Zhang Peiqing Liu Suowen Xu Wencai Ye Zhiping Liu | 2024 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,1: | 0 |

| 7 | Pre-potassiated hydrated vanadium oxide as cathode for quasi-solid-state zinc-ion battery显示文摘Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs),in particular quasi-solid-state ZIBs,occupy a crucial position in the field of energy storage devices owing to the superiorities of abundant zinc reserve,low cost,high safety and high theoretical capacity of zinc anode.However,as divalent Zn^(2+)ions experience strong electrostatic interactions when intercalating into the cathode materials,which poses challenges to the structural stability and higher demand in Zn^(2+)ions diffusion kinetics of the cathode materials.Here,a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method is adopted to prepare pre-potassiated hydrated vanadium pentoxide(K_(0.52)V_(2)O_(5)·0.29H_(2)O,abbreviated as KHVO)cathode material,in which the potassium ions preinserted into the interlayers can act as“pillars”to stabilize the lamellar structure,and crystal water can act as“lubricant”to improve the diffusion efficiency of Zn^(2+)ions.Consequently,the KHVO displays high electrochemical properties with high capacity(∼300 mAh/g),superior rate capability(69 mAh/g at 5 A/g)and ultralong cycling performance(>1500 cycles at 2 A/g)in quasi-solid-state ZIBs.These superior Zn storage properties result from the large diffusion coefficient and highly stable and reversible Zn^(2+)(de)intercalation reaction of KHVO. | Qifei Li Xiangxiang Ye Hong Yu Chengfeng Du Wenping Sun Weiling Liu Hongge Pan Xianhong Rui | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,5: | 0 |
