2EFFECTS OF OXIDES IN INVESTMENT MOLD ON SURFACE PROPERTIES OF TITANIUM CASTINGS显示文摘Effects of different facing oxides, including including yttria colloidal and powders (Y/Y), yttria stabilized zirconia colloidal and powders (ZY/ZY), zirconia colloidal and powders (Z/Z) and zirconia colloidal and zireonite powders (Z/ZS) on the qualities of investment castings are studied. The outward appearance, microstructures, and microhardness profiles of castings made of commercial pure titanium, Ti--Al--V and Ti--Al--Zr are investigated. Castings made by shells with yttria as face materials have the least contamination and by zirconite shells have the most contamination. 3STUDY ON STRUCTURES OF Al-CuAl_2 EUTECTIC SOLIDIFIED UNDER ELECTROMAGNETIC STIRRING显示文摘An investigation on electromagnetically-stirred solidification of Al-CuAl2 eutectic system is presented in this paper. With electromagnetic stirring in solidification, structural transition from lamellar to rod-like eutectic has been found in the as-cast structures, and provided strong stirring is applied, proeutectic growth of α-Al phase is enhanced. Moreover, the interphase spacing of eutectic is clearly increased with melt flow intensified. 4On Identical Problems of Natural Convection in Enclosures and Applications of the Identity Character显示文摘In this paper,a concept of “identical problems”of natural convection in enclosures is presented.A pair of problems of natural conyection in enclosures is said to be identical if they look different in appearance but with appropriate selection of coordinates and appropriate definition of dimensionless variables for each problem;they will have identical geometric configurations and identical dimensionless governing equations and related boundary conditions,The identical characteristics of a pair of problems of natural convection in enclosures with an interanl isolated island are demonstrated via dimensionless mathematical formulation and flow visualization results.Numericasl computations are performed and the predicted streamlines agree with the flow visualization results.A number of other possible pairs of identical problems are also presented.Applications of the identical character are provided and assumptions under which the identical problems may exist are discussed.Yang, M. 5Extension/Compression-Controlled Complete Band Gaps in 2D Chiral Square-Lattice-Like Structures显示文摘Achieving tunable band gaps in a structure by external stimuli is of great importance in acoustic applications. This paper aims to investigate the tunability of band gaps in square-lattice-like elastic periodic structures that are usually not featured with notable band gaps.Endowed with chirality, the periodic structures here are able to undergo imperfection-insensitive large deformation under extension or compression. The influences of geometric parameters on band gaps are discussed via the nonlinear finite element method. It is shown that the band gaps in such structures with curved beams can be very rich and, more importantly, can be efficiently and robustly tuned by applying appropriate mechanical loadings without inducing buckling. As expected, geometry plays a more significant role than material nonlinearity does in the evolution of band gaps. The dynamic tunability of band gaps through mechanical loading is further studied. Results show that closing, opening, and shifting of band gaps can be realized by exerting real-time global extension or compression on the structure. 7MICROSTRUCTURE AND MACROSEGREGATION OF Al-7%Si ALLOY SOLIDIFIED UNDER COMPLEX EFFECTS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC AND CENTRIFUGAL FORCES显示文摘Macrosegregations and microstructures of Al-7%Si alloy solidified under complex of fects of magnetic field and centrifugal forces are studied by means of a set of selfdesigned electromagnetic centrifugal casting (EMCC) device. It is shown that electromagnetic field (EMF) has an important effect on the macrosegregation of centrifugal casting specimen of Al-7%Si alloy in two respects: one is that there exists always a kind of convection in the liquid in front of the S/L interface caused by effect ofthe electromagnetic force; the other is that different atomic clusters of solidparticles with different physical characteristics are subjected to quite different electromagnetic (Lorentz) force. Therefore, their movements get changed. In addition, the formation process of a complex band structure consisting of primary α-Al dendrites and (α-Al+β-Si) eutectics in hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys during EMCC and the effect of EMF are discussed.Y.F. 8STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF YFe_(12-x)Ti_x COMPOUNDS显示文摘Structure and magnetic properties of the YFe12-x Tix compounds with x=0.85, 1.00, 1.10, 1.20 and 1.30 have been investigated. Both the thermomagnetic analysis and X-ray diffraction patterns show that all compounds Btudied are almost single phase and crystallize in the ThMn12-type of structure. The lattice parameters a, c and unit cell volume V increase monotonously with increasing Ti content. Curie temperature Tc is almost independent on Ti content while the spontaneous magnetization Mo, the anisotropy field B. and the anisotropy constant K1 decrease monotonously with increasing Ti content and increasing temperature from1.5K to 293K.B. 15PROPERTIES OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL MOVEMENT OF SANDY WATER DISCHARGED INTO A LAKE显示文摘A Random Trajectory Model (RTM) for solid liquid two phase flow based on the Lagrangian Method is presented in this paper. The effects of water drag force, pressure gradient force, buoyancy and virtual mass force on the particles were included and the turbulent dispersion was modeled by random method. Three dimensional k ε model was used to calculate the flow field. A pumped storage power station, with a natural lake as its upper pool, was taken as a case for the study. Averaged movement trajectories, velocities and the volume concentration distributions for 5 groups of sediment particles, were predicted with RTM.
