1Release of interleukin-10 and neurotrophic factors in the choroid plexus:possible inductors of neurogenesis following copolymer-1 immunization after cerebral ischemia显示文摘Copolymer-1(Cop-1) is a peptide with immunomodulatory properties, approved by the Food and Drug Administration of United States in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Cop-1 has been shown to exert neuroprotective effects and induce neurogenesis in cerebral ischemia models. Nevertheless, the mechanism involved in the neurogenic action of this compound remains unknown. The choroid plexus(CP) is a network of cells that constitute the interphase between the immune and central nervous systems, with the ability to mediate neurogenesis through the release of cytokines and growth factors. Therefore, the CP could play a role in Cop-1-induced neurogenesis. In order to determine the participation of the CP in the induction of neurogenesis after Cop-1 immunization, we evaluated the gene expression of various growth factors(brain-derived neurotrophic factor, insulin-like growth factor 1, neurotrophin-3) and cytokines(tumor necrosis factor alpha, interferon-gamma, interleukin-4(IL-4), IL-10 and IL-17), in the CP at 14 days after ischemia. Furthermore, we analyzed the correlation between the expression of these genes and neurogenesis. Our results showed that Cop-1 was capable of stimulating an upregulation in the expression of the genes encoding for brain-derived neurotrophic factor, insulin-like growth factor 1, neurotrophin-3 and IL-10 in the CP, which correlated with an increase in neurogenesis in the subventricular and subgranular zone. As well, we observed a downregulation of IL-17 gene expression. 2Downregulation of the Basic Peroxidase Isoenzyme from Zinnia elegans by Gibberellic Acid显示文摘Hypocotyl formation during the epigeal germination of seedlings is under strict hormonal regulation. In a 3 d old Zinnia elegans seedling system, gibberellic acid (GA3) exerts an opposite effect to that exerted by light on hypocotyl photomorphogenesis because GA3 promotes an etiolated-like growth with an inhibition of radial (secondary) growth. For this reason, the effect of GA3 on the basic peroxidase isoenzyme from Z. elegans (ZePrx), an enzyme involved in hypocotyl lignin biosynthesis, was studied. The results showed that GA3 reduces ZePrx activity, similarly to the way in which it reduces seedling secondary growth. This hormonal response is supported by the analysis of the ZePrx promoter, which contains four types of GA3-responsive cis-elements: the W Box/O2S; the Pyr Box; the GARE; and the Amy Box. 18Preparation and Microstructural Characterization of Activated Carbon-Metal Oxide Hybrid Catalysts:New Insights into Reaction Paths显示文摘In catalysis processes,activated carbon(AC) and metal oxides(MOs) are widely used either as catalysts or as catalyst supports because of their unique properties.A combination of AC and MO nanoparticles in a single hybrid material usually entails both chemical and microstructural changes,which may largely influence the potential catalytic suitability and performance of the resulting product.Here,the preparation of a wide series of AC-MO hybrid catalysts is studied.Three series of such catalysts are prepared by support first of MO(Al_2O_3,Fe_2O_3,SnO_2,TiO_2,WO_3,and ZnO) precursors on a granular AC by wet impregnation and oven-drying at 120 ℃,and by subsequent heat treatment at 200 or 850 ℃ in inert atmosphere.Both the chemical composition and microstructure are mainly investigated by powder X-ray diffraction.Yield and ash content are often strongly dependent on the MO precursor and heat treatment temperature,in particular for the Sn catalysts.With the temperature rise,trends are towards the transformation of metal hydroxides into metal oxides,crystallinity improvement,and occurrence of drastic composition changes,ultimately leading to the formation of metals in elemental state and even metal carbides.Reaction paths during the preparation are explored for various hybrid catalysts and new insights into them are provided.A.Barroso-Bogeat M.Alexandre-Franco C.Fernndez-Gonzlez V.Gómez-Serrano 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,8:1
