2Role of gut microbiota in identification of novel TCM-derived active metabolites显示文摘Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)has been extensively used to ameliorate diseases in Asia for over thousands of years.However,owing to a lack of formal scientific validation,the absence of information regarding the mechanisms underlying TCMs restricts their application.After oral administration,TCM herbal ingredients frequently are not directly absorbed by the host,but rather enter the intestine to be transformed by gut microbiota.The gut microbiota is a microbial community living in animal intestines,and functions to maintain host homeostasis and health.Increasing evidences indicate that TCM herbs closely affect gut microbiota composition,which is associated with the conversion of herbal components into active metabolites.These may significantly affect the therapeutic activity of TCMs.Microbiota analyses,in conjunction with modern multiomics platforms,can together identify novel functional metabolites and form the basis of future TCM research.Tzu-Lung Lin Chia-Chen Lu Wei-Fan Lai Ting-Shu Wu Jang-Jih Lu Young-Mao Chen Chi-Meng Tzeng Hong-Tao Liu Hong Wei Hsin-Chih Lai 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,5:16

4Role of peripheral eosinophilia in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Eosinophil counts are a promising guide to systemic steroid administration for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).AIM To study the role of peripheral eosinophilia in hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of COPD(AECOPD).METHODS From January 2014 to May 2017,patients with AECOPD hospitalized in Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital were retrospectively stratified into two groups according to their peripheral eosinophil count:The EOS group(eosinophil count≥2%)and the non-EOS group(eosinophil count<2%).Demographics,comorbidities,laboratory data,steroid use,length of hospital stay,and COPD-related readmissions were compared between the groups.RESULTS A total of 625 patients were recruited,with 176 patients(28.2%)in the EOS group.The EOS group showed a lower prevalence of infection,lower cumulative doses of prednisolone equivalents,shorter length of hospital stay,and higher number of COPD-related readmissions than the non-EOS group.There were significantly linear correlations between eosinophil percentage and number of readmissions and between eosinophil percentage and length of hospital stay P<0.001,and a lower percent-predicted value of forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)were associated with shorter time to first COPD-related readmission[adjusted hazard ratio(adj.HR)=1.488,P<0.001;adj.HR=0.985,P<0.001,respectively].CONCLUSION The study findings suggest that the EOS group had the features of a shorter length of hospital stay,and lower doses of systemic steroids,but more frequent readmissions.The EOS group and lower percent-predicted FEV1 values were risk factors for shorter time to first COPD-related readmission.Chih-Wei Wu Chou-Chin Lan Po-Chun Hsieh I-Shiang Tzeng Yao-Kuang Wu 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,13:7

8Intestinal Absorption of Ergostane and Lanostane Triterpenoids from Antrodia cinnamomea Using Caco-2 Cell Monolayer Model显示文摘Antrodia cinnamomea is a precious medicinal mushroom.It exhibits promising therapeutic effects on cancer,intoxication,hypertension,hepatitis,and inflammation.Its major bioactive constituents are ergostane and lanostane triterpenoids.In this study,we used intestinal Caco-2 cell monolayer model to reveal the intestinal absorption property of 14 representative triterpenoids from A.cinnamomea.The bidirectional transport through the monolayer at different time points was monitored by a fully validated LC/MS/MS method.In the case of pure compounds,ergostanes 5(25R-antcin H),6(25Santcin H)and 10(25R-antcin B)could readily pass through the Caco-2 cell layer,whereas lanostanes 13(dehydroeburicoic acid)and 14(eburicoic acid)could hardly pass through.When the cells were treated with A.cinnamomea extract,antcins A,B,C,H and K(1–6 and 9–11)were absorbed via passive transcellular diffusion,and showed high PAB and PBA values(>2.5×10^(-5) cm/s).Meanwhile,the lanostanes dehydrosulphurenic acid(8),15a-acetyldehydrosulphurenic acid(12),13 and 14 exhibited poor permeability.Transport features of these compounds were consistent with their pharmacokinetic behaviors in rats.This study could also be helpful in predicting the intestinal absorption of A.cinnamomea in human.Qi Wang Xue Qiao Yi Qian Zi-wei Li Yew-min Tzeng De-min Zhou De-an Guo Min Ye 2015Natural Products and Bioprospecting2015,5,5:2
9Study on the Characteristics of the Ruthenium Oxide pH Electrode显示文摘Ruthenium oxide,which fabricated by radio frequency sputtering is used as the sensitive membrane,which shows that the pH sensitivity is very high and has a linear response in different buffer solutions.The pH electrode,which applies the structure of separative structure EGFET (Extended Gate Field Effect Transistor) insteads of the conventional gate ISFET (Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor) for reducing the cost of the fabrication and measurement.Unfortunately,the performance of the pH sensor was falsified by the drift and hysteresis.In addition,the total response is composed of the intrinsic response and drift,and the hysteresis effect combines the slow response with drift.Consequently,we would also investigate the drift in the buffer solutions and hysteresis effect in the different paths.In this way,the more accurate sensing properties are obtained by the RuO_x pH electrode.Jung-Chuan Chou Diing-Jia Tzeng 2006稀有金属材料与工程2006,35,A03:2
