1Epidemiology of pelvic fractures in adults: Our experience at a tertiary hospital显示文摘Purpose: Pelvic fractures are severe injuries and are often associated with multiple system injuries, exacerbating the overall outcome. In India, the incidence of pelvic fractures is on a rise due to suboptimal roads and traffics but related literature regarding the overall epidemiology of these injuries is scarce and scanty. Our aim was to study the epidemiology of patients admitted with pelvic fractures at a level 1 trauma centre in India. Methods: A 16-month (between September 2015 and December 2016) prospective observational study was carried out on trauma patients with pelvic fractures at a level 1 trauma centre of a tertiary care hospital. Demography of patients, mechanism of injuries and complications were recorded prospectively. Results: We observed 75 patients who presented with pelvic fractures, where 56 were males and 19 were females. Mean age of the study populationwas 37.57 years. Road traffic accidents were the most common mode of injuries. Lateral compression injuries were the most common pattern. Associated injuries frequently encountered were lower extremities and acetabulum fractures, blunt abdominal trauma, urogenital injuries and head injuries. Out of the 75 patients, 52 were treated surgically and 23 were managed by conservative methods. Associated injuries of the extremities, head, abdomen and urogenital system indicated a longer hospital stay. Conclusion: Pelvic fractures, although belong to a relatively rare trauma subset, cause a high morbidity and mortality with considerable burden on the economy. 2Effect of weathering on physico-chemical properties and combustion behavior of an Indian thermal coal显示文摘An open air stockpile of conical shape was formed with 3.5 m base diameter and 5 m height using 500 tons of -200 mm size ROM thermal coal on a concrete floor. Coal sample from the stockpile were collected at 30 days interval for analysis of various chemical properties like;proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, gross calorific value (GCV) and various combustion related properties such as ignition temperature, peak temperature, burnout temperature, maximum combustion rate, ignition index, burnout index, combustion performance index and combustion rate intensity index. Experimental results show that, due to weathering of coal fixed carbon decreased from 35.6% to 19.9%, elemental carb on (C) decreased from 46.6% to 28.6%, hydrogen (H) decreased from 3.3% to 2.9% and GCV decreased by up to 55% of original value during 330 days of storage of coal in an open atmosphere. Ash con tent of coal increased form 29.2% to 46.6% due to loss of combustibles. Sulfur (S) of coal was found to get increased from 0.33% to 1.08% during storage. The activation energy of coal combustion increased from 22 kJ/mol to 54 kJ/mol. 3Relationship between proximate analysis parameters and combustion behaviour of high ash Indian coal显示文摘This work presents the analysis of combustion characteristics of high ash Indian coal(28%-40%)collected from different mines of Singaurali coalfield,India.All the coal samples were characterized by proximate and gross calorific value analysis.Combustion performance of the coals were characterised using thermo-gravimetric analysis to identify the burning profile of individual coals.Various combustion kinetic parameters such as ignition temperature,peak temperature and burnout temperature,ignition index and burnout index,combustion performance index plus rate and intensity index of combustion process,activation energy were determined to analyse the combustion behaviour of coal.Further all these combustion properties were compared with the volatile matter,ash,fixed carbon and fuel ratio of each coal.Theoretical analysis shows that with increase in ash content,combustion performance initially increases and later descends.Further,coal with(25±1.75)%volatile matter,20%-35%ash and fuel ratio 1.4-1.5 were found to be optimum for coal combustion.Subhajit Aich Dibyajyoti Behera Barun Kumar Nandi Sumantra Bhattacharya 2020International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2020,7,4:1

11Displacement-based seismic design of flat slab-shear wall buildings显示文摘Flat slab system is becoming widely popular for multistory buildings due to its several advantages. However, the performance of flat slab buildings under earthquake loading is unsatisfactory due to their vulnerability to punching shear failure. Several national design codes provide guidelines for designing flat slab system under gravity load only. Nevertheless, flat slab buildings are also being constructed in high seismicity regions. In this paper, performance of flat slab buildings of various heights, designed for gravity load alone according to code, is evaluated under earthquake loading as per ASCE/SEI 41 methodology. Continuity of slab bottom reinforcement through column cage improves the performance of flat slab buildings to some extent, but it is observed that these flat slab systems are not adequate in high seismicity areas and need additional primary lateral load resisting systems such as shear walls. A displacement-based method is proposed to proportion shear walls as primary lateral load resisting elements to ensure satisfactory performance. 18Assessment of Above- and Below-Ground Carbon Pools in a Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest Ecosystem of Bhopal, India显示文摘This study estimated 18.35 Mg C/ha in standing biomass of natural forest and 15 Mg C/ha in Hardwickia binata Roxb. plantation in a tropical dry deciduous forest located in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. The study area of Indian Institute of Forest Management(IIFM), Bhopal,resembled a degraded dry scrubland in 1988 and for over about three decades, the degraded forest recovered remarkably, and ecological processes evolved favorably with canopy cover reaching over 60% in some patches and about 50% in general at most part of the campus. The study was conducted in 18 randomly laid plots in natural forest and over one-acre(0.405-ha) plantation area of Hardwickia binata for assessing the above-ground biomass, below-ground biomass and subsequent carbon content. The lower-diameter classes accounted for the maximum above-ground biomass, basal area and tree density. The forest is predominantly occupied by Leucaena leucocephala, an exotic tree species which showed higher standing biomass carbon storage of 3.79 Mg C/ha followed by Holoptelea integrifolia(2.11 Mg C/ha), Azadirachta indica(1.29 Mg C/ha),Gardenia latifolia(1.26 Mg C/ha) and Lannea coromandelica(1.24 Mg C/ha) besides Hardwickia binata plantation(15 Mg C/ha). 19Generating Time-Series Data Using Generative Adversarial Networks for Mobility Demand Prediction显示文摘The increasing penetration rate of electric kickboard vehicles has been popularized and promoted primarily because of its clean and efficient features.Electric kickboards are gradually growing in popularity in tourist and education-centric localities.In the upcoming arrival of electric kickboard vehicles,deploying a customer rental service is essential.Due to its freefloating nature,the shared electric kickboard is a common and practical means of transportation.Relocation plans for shared electric kickboards are required to increase the quality of service,and forecasting demand for their use in a specific region is crucial.Predicting demand accurately with small data is troublesome.Extensive data is necessary for training machine learning algorithms for effective prediction.Data generation is a method for expanding the amount of data that will be further accessible for training.In this work,we proposed a model that takes time-series customers’electric kickboard demand data as input,pre-processes it,and generates synthetic data according to the original data distribution using generative adversarial networks(GAN).The electric kickboard mobility demand prediction error was reduced when we combined synthetic data with the original data.We proposed Tabular-GAN-Modified-WGAN-GP for generating synthetic data for better prediction results.We modified The Wasserstein GAN-gradient penalty(GP)with the RMSprop optimizer and then employed Spectral Normalization(SN)to improve training stability and faster convergence.Finally,we applied a regression-based blending ensemble technique that can help us to improve performance of demand prediction.We used various evaluation criteria and visual representations to compare our proposed model’s performance.Synthetic data generated by our suggested GAN model is also evaluated.The TGAN-Modified-WGAN-GP model mitigates the overfitting and mode collapse problem,and it also converges faster than previous GAN models for synthetic data creation.The presented model’s performance is compared to existing ensemble and baseline models.The experimental findings imply that combining synthetic and actual data can significantly reduce prediction error rates in the mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)of 4.476 and increase prediction accuracy.Subhajit Chatterjee Yung-Cheol Byun 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3:0
20Toward a comprehensive hypothesis of oxygen-evolution reaction in the presence of iron and gold显示文摘This study investigates the effects of Fe on the oxygen-evolution reaction(OER)in the presence of Au.Two distinct areas of OER were identified:the first associated with Fe sites at low overpotential(~330 mV),and the second with Au sites at high overpotential(~870 mV).Various factors such as surface Fe concentration,electrochemical method,scan rate,potential range,concentration,method of adding K_(2)Fe O_(4),nature of Fe,and temperature were varied to observe diverse behaviors during OER for Fe O_(x)H_(y)/Au.Trace amounts of Fe ions had a significant impact on OER,reaching a saturation point where the activity did not increase further.Strong electronic interaction between Fe and Au ions was indicated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)analyses.In situ visible spectroscopy confirmed the formation of Fe O_(4)^(2-)during OER.In situ Mossbauer and surfaceenhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)analyses suggest the involvement of Fe-based species as intermediates during the rate-determining step of OER.A lattice OER mechanism based on Fe O_(x)H_(y)was proposed for operation at low overpotentials.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that Fe oxide,Fe-oxide clusters,and Fe doping on the Au foil exhibited different activities and stabilities during OER.The study provides insights into the interplay between Fe and Au in OER,advancing the understanding of OER mechanisms and offering implications for the design of efficient electrocatalytic systems.Negah Hashemi Jafar Hussain Shah Cejun Hu Subhajit Nandy Pavlo Aleshkevych Sumbal Farid Keun Hwa Chae Wei Xie Taifeng Liu Junhu Wang Mohammad Mahdi Najafpour 2024Journal of Energy Chemistry2024,89,2:0
