| 4 | Vitamin D deficiency and hepatitis viruses-associated liver diseases:a literature review显示文摘The secosteroid hormone vitamin D has, in addition to its effects in bone metabolism also functions in the modulation of immune responses against infectious agents and in inhibiting tumorigenesis. Thus, deficiency of vitamin D is associated with several malignancies, but also with a plethora of infectious diseases. Among other communicable diseases, vitamin D deficiency is involved in the pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases caused by hepatitis B and C viruses(HBV, HCV) and high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency with serum levels below 20 mg/mL in patients with HBV and HCV infection are found worldwide. Several studies have assessed the effects of vitamin D supplementation on the sustained virological response(SVR) to interferon(IFN) plus ribavirin(RBV) therapy in HBV and HCV infection. In these studies, inconsistent results were reported. This review addresses general aspects of vitamin D deficiency and, in particular, the significance of vitamin D hypovitaminosis in the outcome of HBVand HCV-related chronic liver diseases. | 5 | Genetic variants of interferon regulatory factor 5 associated with chronic hepatitis B infection显示文摘AIM To investigate possible effects of IRF5 polymorphisms in the 3' UTR region of the IFR5 locus on susceptibilityto hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection and progression of liver diseases among clinically classified Vietnamese patients.METHODS Four IFR5 SNPs(rs13242262 A/T, rs77416878 C/T, rs10488630 A/G, and rs2280714 T/C) were genotyped in clinically classified HBV patients [chronic hepatitis B(CHB). n = 99; liver cirrhosis(LC), n = 131; hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), n = 149] and in 242 healthy controls by direct sequencing and Taq Man realtime PCR assays. RESULTS Comparing patients and controls, no significant association was observed for the four IFR5 variants. However, the alleles rs13242262 T and rs10488630 G contributed to an increased risk of liver cirrhosis(LC vs CHB: OR = 1.5, 95%CI: 1.1-2.3, adjusted P = 0.04; LC vs CHB: OR = 1.7, 95%CI: 1.1-2.6, adjusted P = 0.019). Haplotype IRF5*TCGT constructed from 4 SNPs was observed frequently in LC compared to CHB patients(OR = 2.1, 95%CI: 1.2-3.3, adjusted P = 0.008). Haplotype IRF5*TCAT occurred rather among CHB patients than in the other HBV patient groups(LC vs CHB: OR = 0.4, 95%CI: 0.2-0.8, adjusted P = 0.03; HCC vs CHB: OR = 0.3, 95%CI: 0.15-0.7, adjusted P = 0.003). The IRF5*TCAT haplotype was also associated with increased levels of ALT, AST and bilirubin. | 8 | Measurements of γ/γ' Lattice Misfit and γ' Volume Fraction for a Ru-containing Nickel-based Single Crystal Superalloy显示文摘A conventional X-ray diffractometer has been used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction for a Ru-containing nickel-based single crystal superalloy at room temperature.The rocking curve was used to characterize the distribution of subgrains.The diffraction peaks obtained by ω-2θ scan were used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction.A three peaks fitting model was proposed.The peak fitting results are in good agreement with the model.The X-ray diffraction results indicate that the nickel-based single crystal superalloy was not a perfect monocrystalline material,which is comprised of many subgrains;and each subgrain also consists of large numbers of mosaic structures.In addition,two anomalous reflection phenomena were found during the experiment and discussed with respect to their occurrence and impact on the measurement.The experimental results show that the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction will be various at the different regions of its dendritic microstructure.The average γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction of the experimental alloy are approximately-0.2% and 70%,respectively.Furthermore,the γ volume fraction calculated by atom microprobe(AP) data is also basically consistent with the experimental results. | X.P. | 10 | Direct observation of localized surface plasmon field enhancement by Kelvin probe force microscopy显示文摘A surface plasmon(SP)is a fundamental excitation state that exists in metal nanostructures.Over the past several years,the performance of optoelectronic devices has been improved greatly via the SP enhancement effect.In our previous work,the responsivity of GaN ultraviolet detectors was increased by over 30 times when using Ag nanoparticles.However,the physics of the SP enhancement effect has not been established definitely because of the lack of experimental evidence.To reveal the physical origin of this enhancement,Kelvin probe force microscopy(KPFM)was used to observe the SP-induced surface potential reduction in the vicinity of Ag nanoparticles on a GaN epilayer.Under ultraviolet illumination,the localized field enhancement induced by the SP forces the photogenerated electrons to drift close to the Ag nanoparticles,leading to a reduction of the surface potential around the Ag nanoparticles on the GaN epilayer.For an isolated Ag nanoparticle with a diameter of~200 nm,the distribution of the SP localized field is located within 60 nm of the boundary of the Ag nanoparticle.For a dimer of Ag nanoparticles,the localized field enhancement between the nanoparticles was the strongest.The results presented here provide direct experimental proof of the localized field enhancement.These results not only explain the high performance of GaN detectors observed with the use of Ag nanoparticles but also reveal the physical mechanism of SP enhancement in optoelectronic devices,which will help us further understand and improve the performance of SP-based optoelectronic devices in the future. | Da-Bing Li Xiao-Juan Sun Yu-Ping Jia Mark I Stockman Hari P Paudel Hang Song Hong Jiang Zhi-Ming Li | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017，6，1： | 2 |
