1Efficacy of small-volume simethicone given at least 30 min before gastroscopy显示文摘AIM To evaluate the efficacy of 5 m L simethicone solution in decreasing gastric foam if given at least 30 min before gastroscopy.METHODS This was a randomized, placebo controlled, endoscopist blinded study performed at Changi General Hospital. Patients were at least 21 years old, had no prior sur-gical resection of the upper gastrointestinal tract, and scheduled for elective diagnostic gastroscopies. The primary outcome was the total mucosal visibility score(TMVS) which was evaluated using Mc Nally score. The sample size was calculated to be 24 per group(SD 2.4, 80% power, P < 0.05, 2-sample t test). RESULTS Fifty-four patients were randomised to receive either simethicone [1 m L liquid simethicone(100 mg) in 5 m L of water] or placebo(5 m L of water) at least 30 min before their gastroscopy. Six accredited consultants conductedthe gastroscopy, and the interobserver agreement of scoring TMVS was good with a Kappa statistic of 0.73. The simethicone group had significantly better mean TMVS compared to placebo(5.78 ± SD 1.65 vs 8.89 ± SD 1.97, P < 0.001). The improvement was statistically significant for the duodenum and the gastric antrum, angularis, body, and fundus. Percent 51.9 of patients in the simethicone group had a TMVS of 4(no bubbles at all) to 5(only 1 area with minimal bubbles), while in the placebo group 3.7% of patients had TMVS of 4 or 5. The number needed to treat was 2.1 to avoid a TMVS of 6 and more. 2Study of the permeability characteristics of porous media with methane hydrate by pore network model显示文摘The permeability in the methane hydrate reservoir is one of the key parameters in estimating the gas production performance and the flow behavior of gas and water during dissociation.In this paper,a three-dimensional cubic pore-network model based on invasion percolation is developed to study the effect of hydrate particle formation and growth habit on the permeability.The variation of permeability in porous media with different hydrate saturation is studied by solving the network problem.The simulation results are well consistent with the experimental data.The proposed model predicts that the permeability will reduce exponentially with the increase of hydrate saturation,which is crucial in developing a deeper understanding of the mechanism of hydrate formation and dissociation in porous media.Haifeng Liang Yongchen Song Yu Liu Mingjun Yang Xing Huang 2010Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2010,19,3:7
3Second and third line treatment options for Helicobacter pylori eradication显示文摘Helicobacter pylori is a highly successful bacterium with a high global prevalence and the infection carries significant disease burden. It is also becoming increasingly difficult to eradicate and the main reason for this is growing primary antibiotic resistance rates in a world where antibiotics are frequently prescribed and readily available. Despite knowing much more about the bacterium since its discovery, such as its genomic makeup and pathogenesis, we have seen declining treatment success. Therefore, clinicians today must be prepared to face one, two or even multiple treatment failures, and should be equipped with sufficient knowledge to decide on the appropriate salvage therapy when this happens. This article discusses the factors contributing to treatment failure and reviews the second and thirdline treatment strategies that have been investigated. Established empiric second line treatment options include both bismuth based quadruple therapy and levofloxacin based triple therapy. Antibiotic testing is recommended prior to initiating third line treatment. 4In-situ observation for formation and dissociation of carbon dioxide hydrate in porous media by magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘The study of formation and dissociation of CO 2 hydrate in porous media was characterized by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system in in situ conditions. This work simulated porous media by using glass beads of uniform size. The growth and dissociation habit of CO2 hydrate was observed under different temperature and pressure conditions. The induction time and the hydrate saturation during the growth and dissociation process in different sizes of porous media were obtained by using the MRI signal intensity. The results indicate that hydrate growth rate and the induction time are affected by the size of porous media, pressure, and degree of supercooling. There are three hydrate growth stages, i.e., initial growth stage, rapid growth stage and steady stage. In this study,the CO2 hydrate forms preferentially at the surface of vessel and then gradually grows inward. The hydrate tends to cement the glass beads together and occupies the pore gradually. 5Numerical studies of hydrate dissociation and gas production behavior in porous media during depressurization process显示文摘In this study,a numerical model is developed to investigate the hydrate dissociation and gas production in porous media by depressurization.A series of simulation runs are conducted to study the impacts of permeability characteristics,including permeability reduction exponent,absolute permeability,hydrate accumulation habits and hydrate saturation,sand average grain size and irreducible water saturation.The effects of the distribution of hydrate in porous media are examined by adapting conceptual models of hydrate accumulation habits into simulations to govern the evolution of permeability with hydrate decomposition,which is also compared with the conventional reservoir permeability model,i.e.Corey model.The simulations show that the hydrate dissociation rate increases with the decrease of permeability reduction exponent,hydrate saturation and the sand average grain size.Compared with the conceptual models of hydrate accumulation habits,our simulations indicate that Corey model overpredicts the gas production and the performance of hydrate coating models is superior to that of hydrate filling models in gas production,which behavior does follow by the order of capillary coating>pore coating>pore filling>capillary filling.From the analysis of t1/2,some interesting results are suggested as follows:(1) there is a 'switch' value(the'switch'absolute permeability) for laboratory-scale hydrate dissociation in porous media,the absolute permeability has almost no influence on the gas production behavior when the permeability exceeds the 'switch' value.In this study,the 'switch' value of absolute permeability can be estimated to be between 10 and 50 md.(2) An optimum value of initial effective water saturation Sw,e exists where hydrate dissociation rate reaches the maximum and the optimum value largely coincides with the value of irreducible water saturation S wr,e.For the case of Sw,Swr,e,there are different control mechanisms dominating the process of hydrate dissociation and gas production.Xuke Ruan Mingjun Yang Yongchen Song Haifeng Liang Yanghui Li 2012Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,4:3
6The integration of transcriptomic and transgenic analyses reveals the involvement of the SA response pathway in the defense of chrysanthemum against the necrotrophic fungus Alternaria sp.显示文摘Chrysanthemum morifolium cv.‘Huaihuang’has ornamental,edible,medicinal,and tea product uses.However,its field growth,yield,and quality are negatively affected by black spot disease caused by Alternaria sp.(Strain:HQJH10092301;GenBank accession number:KF688111).In this study,we transcriptionally and transgenically characterized a new cultivar,‘Huaiju 2#’(Henan Traditional Chinese Medicine Plant Cultivar identification number:2016002),which was bred from‘Huaihuang’and shows resistance to Alternaria sp.Numerous‘Huaiju 2#’plants were inoculated with Alternaria sp.for three or five days.Metabolic analysis showed increases in both salicylic acid(SA)and jasmonic acid(JA)in infected plants compared to the control.Protein activity analysis also revealed a significant increase in defense enzyme activities in infected plants.RNA-Seq of plants infected for 3 or 5 days produced a total of 58.6 GB of clean reads.Among these reads,16,550 and 13,559 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were identified in Cm_3 dpi(sample from 3 days post-inoculation labeled as Cm_3 dpi)and Cm_5 dpi(sample from 5 days post-inoculation labeled as Cm_5 dpi),respectively,compared with their controls(Cm_0 d:a mixture samples from 0 d(before inoculation)and those treated with sterile distilled water at 3 dpi and 5 dpi).Gene annotation and cluster analysis of the DEGs revealed a variety of defense responses to Alternaria sp.infection,which were characterized by increases in resistance(R)proteins and the reactive oxygen species(ROS),Ca2+,mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK),and JA signaling pathways.In particular,SA signaling was highly responsive to Alternaria sp.infection.The qPCR analysis of 12 DEG candidates supported their differential expression characterized by using the RNA-Seq data.One candidate was CmNPR1(nonexpressor of pathogenesis-related gene 1),an important positive regulator of SA in systemic acquired resistance(SAR).Overexpression of CmNPR1 in‘Huaiju 2#’increased the resistance of transgenic plants to black spot.These findings indicate that the SA response pathway is likely involved in the defense of‘Huaiju 2#’against Alternaria sp.pathogens.Xiting Zhao Lingyu Song Liwei Jiang Yuting Zhu Qinghui Gao Dandan Wang Jing Xie Meng Lv Ping Liu Mingjun Li 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:3

16Dual sensitivity of spiropyran-functionalized carbon dots for full color conversions显示文摘Multicolor phosphors that respond rapidly to external stimuli are highly desirable for many applications, including lighting,optical displays and sensors. Herein, spiropyran(SP)-functionalized carbon dots(CDs) were synthesized with a broad-spectrum output that were responsive to both ultraviolet(UV)/visible light and pH. The SP-CDs possessed strong ester linkages between the UV-absorbing/blue-emitting CDs and blue-absorbing/red-emitting surface SP groups, allowing efficient F?rster resonance energy transfer(FRET) between the donor and acceptor. UV irradiation or acid addition cause the SP ring opening to merocyanine(MC) or protonated MCH+forms, respectively, together with the formation of sheet-like aggregates. These processes enhanced the red emissions by the SP groups and attenuated blue emissions from the CDs. These changes were fully reversible under visible light or basic conditions, respectively, allowing dynamic regulation of the fluorescence properties(emission colors from blue to red, photoluminescence(PL) intensity) under photoirradiation on the timescale of minutes. 17Turning gas hydrate nucleation with oxygen-containing groups on size-selected graphene oxide flakes显示文摘Gas hydrate is a promising alternative for gas capture and storage due to its high gas storage capacity achieved with only structured water molecules.Nucleation is the critical controlling step in gas hydrate formation.Adding an alien solid surface is an effective approach to regulate gas hydrate nucleation.However,how the solid surface compositions control the gas hydrate nucleation remains unclear.Benefiting from the fact that the surface compositions of graphene oxide(GO)can be finely tuned,we report the effect of functional groups of size-selected GO flakes on methane hydrate nucleation.The carbonyl and carboxyl of GO flakes showed a more prominent promotion for methane hydrate nucleation than the hydroxyl of GO flakes.Surface energy,zeta potential,Raman spectra,and molecular dynamics simulation analysis were used to reveal the regulation mechanism of the functional groups of size-selected GO flakes on methane hydrate nucleation.The GO flakes with abundant carbonyl and carboxyl exhibited higher charge density than those enriched in hydroxyl.The negatively charged GO flakes can induce water molecules to form an ordered hydrogen-bonded arrangement via charge-dipole interactions.Therefore,the water molecules surrounding the carboxyl and carbonyl showed a more ordered hydrogen-bonded structure than those around the hydroxyl of GO flakes.The ordered water arrangement,similar to methane hydrate cages,significantly accelerated methane hydrate nucleation.Our study shows how the surface chemistry of solids control gas hydrate nucleation and sheds light on the design of effective heterogeneous nucleators for gas hydrate.Huiquan Liu Changrui Shi Zherui Chen Shuai Wang Mingjun Yang Jiafei Zhao Cong Chen Yongchen Song Zheng Ling 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,12:0

19Satellite-measured water vapor isotopologues across the Tianshan Mountains,central Asia显示文摘The satellite-based water vapor stable isotope measurements have been widely used in modern hydrological and atmospheric studies.Their use is important for arid areas where the precipitation events are limited,and below-cloud evaporation is strong.This study presents the spatial and temporal characteristics of water vapor isotopologue across the Tianshan Mountains in arid central Asia using the NASAAura Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer(TES).The near-surface water vapor stable isotopes are enriched in summer and depleted in winter,consistent with the seasonality of precipitation isotopes.From the surface to 200 hPa,the isotope values in water vapor show a decreasing trend as the atmospheric pressure decreases and elevation rises.The vapor isotope values in the lower atmosphere in the southern basin of the Tianshan Mountains are usually higher than that in the northern basin,and the seasonal difference in vapor isotopes is slightly more significant in the southern basin.In addition,bottom vapor isotopologue in summer shows a depletion trend from west to east,consistent with the rainout effect of the westerly moisture path in central Asia.The isotopic signature provided by the TES is helpful to understand the moisture transport and below-cloud processes influencing stable water isotopes in meteoric water.ShengJie Wang Yang Song MingJun Zhang Athanassios A.Argiriou YuDong Shi 2021Research in Cold and Arid Regions2021,13,6:0
20An investigation on the link between driver demographic characteristics and distracted driving by using the SHRP 2 naturalistic driving data显示文摘Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of driver demographic characteristics on the driving safety involving cell phone usages.Design/methodology/approach–A total of 1,432 crashes and 19,714 baselines were collected for the Strategic Highway Research Program 2 naturalistic driving research.The authors used a case-control approach to estimate the prevalence and the population attributable risk percentage.The mixed logistic regression model is used to evaluate the correlation between different driver demographic characteristics(age,driving experience or their combination)and the crash risk regarding cell phone engagements,as well as the correlation among the likelihood of the cell phone engagement during the driving,multiple driver demographic characteristics(gender,age and driving experience)and environment conditions.Findings–Senior drivers face an extremely high crash risk when distracted by cell phone during driving,but they are not involved in crashes at a large scale.On the contrary,cell phone usages account for a far larger percentage of total crashes for young drivers.Similarly,experienced drivers and experienced-middle-aged drivers seem less likely to be impacted by the cell phone while driving,and cell phone engagements are attributed to a lower percentage of total crashes for them.Furthermore,experienced,senior or male drivers are less likely to engage in cell phone-related secondary tasks while driving.Originality/value–The results provide support to guide countermeasures and vehicle design.Haotian Cao Zhenghao Zhang Xiaolin Song Hong Wang Mingjun Li Song Zhao Jianqiang Wang 2020Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles2020,3,1:0
