| 1 | Acoustic emission monitoring of rockbursts during TBM-excavated headrace tunneling at Jinping Ⅱ hydropower station显示文摘To better understand the mechanical properties of marble at Jinping II hydropower station, this paper examines the changes of brittle rocks in excavation damaged zones(EDZs) before and after excavation of tunnel with the tunnel boring machine(TBM). The paper attempts to employ the acoustic emission(AE) to study the AE characteristics and distribution of rockburst before and after TBM-excavated tunnel. It is known that the headrace tunnel #2, excavated by the drill-and-blast(D&B) method, is ahead of the headrace tunnel #3 that is excavated by TBM method. The experimental sub-tunnel #2–1, about 2000 m in depth and 13 m in diameter, between the two tunnels is scheduled. In the experimental sub-tunnel #2–1, a large number of experimental boreholes are arranged, and AE sensors are installed within 10 m apart from the wall of the headrace tunnel #3. By tracking the microseismic signals in rocks, the location, frequency, quantity, scope and intensity of the microseismic signals are basically identifed. It is observed that the AE signals mainly occur within 5 m around the rock wall, basically lasting for one day before tunnel excavation and a week after excavation. Monitoring results indicate that the rockburst signals are closely related to rock stress adjustment. The rock structure has a rapid self-adjustment capacity before and after a certain period of time during tunneling. The variations of rock stresses would last for a long time before reaching a fnal steady state. | 3 | Different responses of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal community to day-time and night-time warming in a semiarid steppe显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi form mutualistic symbioses with most plant species and play important roles in ecosystems.Knowledge of the response of AM fungi to temperature change will improve our understanding of the function of AM fungal community under global climate change scenarios in ecosystems.The effects of constant warming on AM fungal communities have been investigated previously,but responses to asymmetrical warming over 24-h periods have never been documented in natural ecosystems.In this study,we examined AM fungal communities in a full factorial design including day-time and night-time warming in a semiarid steppe in northern China.Day-time and 24-h warming,but not night-time warming,significantly increased AM fungal spore density.In contrast,none of the three warming regimes had a significant effect on AM fungal extra radical hyphal density.Atotal of 161 operational taxonomic units(OTUs) of AM fungi were recovered by 454 pyrosequencing of 18 S r DNA.Day-time,night-time,and 24-h warming all significantly increased AM fungal OTU richness.Some AM fungal OTUs showed a significant bias toward day-time,night-time or24-h warming.The AM fungal community composition was significantly affected by night-time warming,but not by day-time and 24-h warming.Our finding highlighted different responses of AM fungal spore density and community composition to asymmetrical warming.This study might improve our understanding of ecosystem functioning of AM fungal community under global climate change scenarios in a semiarid steppe ecosystem. | Yongchan Kim Cheng Gao Yong Zheng Wei Yang Liang Chen Xinhua He Shiqiang Wan Liang-Dong Guo | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,35: | 4 |
| 4 | A uniformly valid series solution to the unsteady stagnation-point flow towards an impulsively stretching surface显示文摘The paper studies the problem of the unsteady two-dimensional stagnation-point flow of an incompressible viscous fluid over a flat deformable sheet. The flow is started impulsively from rest and the sheet is suddenly stretched in its own plane with a velocity proportional to the distance from the stagnation point. An analytical series solution is obtained by means of the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Also, the homotopy-Pade′ technique is employed. An explicit formula for the local friction coefficient is provided. The present formula, different from the perturbation solution, is accurate and uniformly valid for all dimensionless time in the whole spatial region and for all possible values of physical parameter λ, defined as the ratio of the potential flow velocity to the sheet sudden stretching velocity. | 6 | n-Octadecanethiol Self-Assembled Monolayer Coating with Microscopic Roughness for Dropwise Condensation of Steam显示文摘Here we presented a novel technology to achieve a Super-hydrophobic coating with microscopic roughness oncopper surface. First, make a layer of verdigris grow on the fresh pure copper surface. Gain it by exposing thecopper to air and the mist of acetic acid solution. The green coating is a mixture of basic copper(Ⅱ) carbonate andcopper(Ⅱ) acetate. Second heat the coating and make it decompose to CuO. Lastly, form an n-octadecanethiolself-assembled monolayers coating on the outermost surface. Contact angle test, scanning electron microscopeanalysis and electrochemical testing were carried out to characterize the surface, and a heat transfer experimentfor dropwise condensation of steam was performed also. Results show that the modified surface bears a few Super-hydrophobicfeatures, the static contact angle is higher than that in literatures, reaching 153.1±1.7°. The microscopicroughness can be seen in SEM images, differing much from H2O2 etched surface and bare copper surface.The condensation of steam on the surface is a typical form of dropwise condensation, in the measured rangeof temperature difference, under 0.1 MPa, the average convection heat transfer coefficients of the vertical surfaceare 1.7~2.1 times for those of film condensation. | 9 | Effects of Chemical Reaction Caused by Cooling Stream on Film Cooling Effectiveness显示文摘With the increase of inlet temperature of gas turbines, the benefits by using the conventional methods are likely to approach their limits. Therefore, it is essential to study novel film cooling methods for surpassing these current limits. Based on the theory of heat transfer enhancement, a film cooling method with chemical reaction by cool- ing stream is proposed. In order to test the feasibility of the proposed method, numerical simulations have been conducted. The classic flat plate structure with a 30 degree hole is used for the simulation. In the present study, the effects of the parameters in relation to the chemical reaction on film cooling effectiveness, such as chemical heat sink, volume changes, and reaction rate, are investigated numerically. The conventional film cooling is also calculated for the comparison. The results show that film cooling effectiveness is improved obviously due to the chemical reaction, and the reaction heat and reaction rate of cooling stream have an important effect on film ef- fectiveness. | 12 | Adaptive sampling algorithm for detection of superpoints显示文摘The superpoints are the sources(or the destinations) that connect with a great deal of destinations(or sources) during a measurement time interval,so detecting the superpoints in real time is very important to network security and management. Previous algorithms are not able to control the usage of the memory and to deliver the desired accuracy,so it is hard to detect the superpoints on a high speed link in real time. In this paper,we propose an adaptive sampling algorithm to detect the superpoints in real time,which uses a flow sample and hold module to reduce the detection of the non-superpoints and to improve the measurement accuracy of the superpoints. We also design a data stream structure to maintain the flow records,which compensates for the flow Hash collisions statistically. An adaptive process based on different sampling probabilities is used to maintain the recorded IP addresses in the limited memory. This algorithm is compared with the other algorithms by analyzing the real network trace data. | 16 | Sedimentary characteristics and depositional evolution of carbonate platform during the Cambrian and Ordovician in eastern Tarim Basin,NW China显示文摘The eastern Tarim Basin(Tadong Area)has gained wide attentions on large-scale marine carbonate reservoirs in Cambrian-Ordovician due to significant hydrocarbon discoveries.A systematic analysis combining thin sections,cores,wireline logs,and seismic data is conducted on Cambrian-Ordovician carbonate platform in the whole eastern Tarim Basin,including Gucheng area,Majiaer area,and western Luobopo rise(Luoxi area).The results show that 8 sub-facies and more than 10 microfacies are developed including open platform,restricted/semi-restricted platform,reef-shoal around platform margin,drowned platform,foreslope,neritic platform,and deep-water basin.As both key areas for hosting petroleum reserves during the Cambrian and Ordovician,the Luoxi area is dominated by deep-water basin facies,while the Gucheng area is dominated by neritic platform facies and deep-water basin facies during the Lower Cambrian.The deposition evolution during the whole Cambrian is dominated by slope facies and deep-water facies,platform margin facies,and platform facies.In contrast,it is dominated by open platform facies during the whole Ordovician.The depositional evolution of carbonate platform is mainly controlled by paleo-geomorphology and sea-level changes.The distribution of paleo-geomorphologic units plays an important role in controlling types and distributions of carbonate platform facies.The transgression assists in growth of reef-shoal complex and lime mud mound in the Early Ordovician.However,with neritic platform and slope being to disappeared,in the Middle Ordovician,platform margin facies are well developed in Gucheng Area.Platform facies and deepwater basin facies are widely distributed.Finally,carbonate platform is drowned due to sea level rising in the Late Ordovician.The depositional evolution of carbonate platform coinciding falling and rising of sea-level changes can be beneficial for appropriate carbonate reservoirs identification and petroleum exploration. | Jingyan LIU Shiqiang XIA Junlong ZHANG Feng HE Yuhan CHENG Yi ZHU Zhaoqin CHEN Huoxiang DONG | 2023 | Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,2: | 0 |
| 17 | Plant carbon substrate supply regulated soil nitrogen dynamics in a tallgrass prairie in the Great Plains, USA: results of a clipping and shading experiment显示文摘Land use management affects plant carbon(C)supply and soil environments and hence alters soil nitrogen(N)dynamics,with consequent feedbacks to terrestrial ecosystem productivity.The objective of this study was to better identify mechanisms by which land-use management(clipping and shading)regulates soil N in a tallgrass prairie,OK,USA.Methods We conducted 1-year clipping and shading experiment to investigate the effects of changes in land-use management(soil microclimates,plant C substrate supply and microbial activity)on soil inorganic N(NH_(4)^(+)-N and NO_(3)^(-)-N),net N mineralization and nitrification in a tallgrass prairie.Important Findings Land-use management through clipping and/or shading significantly increased annual mean inorganic N,possibly due to lowered plant N uptake and decreased microbial N immobilization into biomass growth.Shading significantly increased annual mean mineralization rates(P<0.05).Clipping slightly decreased annual mean N nitrification rates whereas shading significantly increased annual mean N nitrification rates.Soil microclimate significantly explained 36%of the variation in NO_(3)^(-)-N concentrations(P=0.004).However,soil respiration,a predictor of plant C substrate supply and microbial activity,was negatively correlated with NH_(4)^(+)-N concentrations(P=0.0009),net N mineralization(P=0.0037)and nitrification rates(P=0.0028)across treatments.Our results suggest that change in C substrate supply andmicrobial activity under clipping and/or shading is a critical control on NH_(4)^(+)-N,net N mineralization and nitrification rates,whereas clipping and shading-induced soil microclimate change can be important for NO_(3)^(-)-N variation in the tallgrass prairie. | Xiaoli Cheng Yiqi Luo Bo Su Shiqiang Wan Dafeng Hui Quanfa Zhang | 2011 | Journal of Plant Ecology2011,4,4: | 0 |
| 18 | Film cooling with using the decomposition of an NH_3 cooling stream as a chemical heat sink显示文摘The inlet temperatures of gas turbines are generally increasing over time,so conventional cooling methods are likely to approach their useful limits.It is therefore essential to investigate novel cooling methods.Based on the theory of heat transfer enhancement,a novel film cooling method for gas turbine blades using a chemical heat sink is proposed.In this method,the endothermic reaction of an NH 3 cooling stream heated by the main gas stream takes place,reducing the convective heat transfer between the mainstream and the blades.Therefore,film cooling effectiveness is improved.To test the feasibility of the proposed method,numerical simulations were conducted,using the classical flat plate with a 30 degree angled cylindrical hole(diameter,D).Film cooling effectiveness at different blowing ratios(M = 0.5,1.0,and 1.5) were computed and compared with the results of conventional cooling methods.The simulation results show that the proposed method can enhance film cooling effectiveness not only in the stream-wise direction,but also in the span-wise direction.The span-averaged film effectiveness is improved in the presence of a chemical heat sink,with the value of X/D(the ratio of downstream distance from the center of the film hole to the diameter of the film hole) increasing downstream of the film hole.The novel film cooling approach showed the best performance at M = 0.5. | CHENG KeYong CHEN Wei LIANG ShiQiang GUO YongXian HUAI XiuLan GUI XiaoHong | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,27: | 0 |
