2A double-blind,randomized,placebo-and positive-controlled phase III trial of 1% benvitimod cream in mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis显示文摘Background:Benvitimod cream,a novel synthetic small molecule,was effective in treating mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis.We conducted a phase III clinical trial to assess the efficacy and safety of benvitimod cream in patients with mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis.Methods:We randomly assigned 686 patients(2:1:1)to receive 1%benvitimod cream,0.005%calcipotriol ointment or placebo twice a day for 12 weeks.The primary efficacy end points were the percentage of patients with a 75%or greater reduction from baseline in the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI 75)score and with a score of 0 or 1 in static physician’s global assessment(sPGA)at week 12.Results:The results showed that 50.4%of patients in the benvitimod group achieved PASI 75,which was significantly higher than that in the calcipotriol(38.5%,P<0.05)and placebo(13.9%,P<0.05)groups.The proportion of patients achieving an sPGA score 0 or 1 was 66.3%in the benvitimod group and 63.9%in the calcipotriol group,which were both significantly higher than that in the placebo group(34%,P<0.05).In the long-term follow-up study,50.8%of patients experienced recurrence.After retreatment with 1%benvitimod,73.3%of patients achieved an sPGA score of 0 or 1 again at week 52.Adverse events included application site irritation,follicular papules,and contact dermatitis.No systemic adverse reactions were reported.Conclusion:During this 12-week study,benvitimod cream was demonstrated with high effectiveness and safety in patients with mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis.Lin Cai Gen-Hui Chen Qian-Jin Lu Min Zheng Yu-Zhen Li Jin Chen Jie Zheng Fu-Ren Zhang Jian-Bin Yu Sen Yang Fu-Qiu Li Sheng-Xiang Xiao Qiu-Ning Sun Jin-Hua Xu Xing-Hua Gao Hong Fang Tian-Wen Gao Fei Hao Quan-Zhong Liu Ya-Ting Tu Ruo-Yu Li Bao-Xi Wang Dan-Qi Deng Qing-Shan Zheng Hong-Xia Liu Jian-Zhong Zhang 2020Chinese Medical Journal2020,,24:11
3Immunological inhibition of transplanted liver allografts by adeno-associated virus vector encoding CTLA4Ig in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Blockade interaction between CD28 and B7 with CTLA4Ig has been shown to induce experimental transplantation tolerance. In order to prolong the inhibitory effect of CTLA4Ig, a recombinant adeno- associated virus vector pSNAV expressing CTLA4Ig was constructed, and its effects on transplanted liver allografts were investigated. METHODS: The pSNAV-CTLA4Ig construct was infused into partial liver allografts of rats via the portal vein during transplantation. CTLA4Ig expression in the transplanted livers was detected with reverse transcriptase- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis and immunohistochemistry. Furthermore, real-time quantita- tive PCR was used to measure the expression of IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-4 and IL-10 in the allografts. RESULTS: The expression of CTLA4Ig in the partial allograft was detected successfully and pSNAV-CTLA4Ig improved the survival rate of rats after liver transplantation. Agarose gel analysis of RT-PCR products indicated the presence of CTLA4Ig in the pSNAV-CTLA4Ig treatment group. Cytokines expressed in allografts on day 7 after orthotopic liver transplantation showed that IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-4 and IL-10 mRNA levels decreased in transplant recipients treated with pSNAV-CTLA4Ig compared with those treated with pSNAV-LacZ (1.62±0.09, 1.52±0.11, 1.50± 0.07 and 1.43±0.07 versus 1.29±0.09, 1.32±0.07, 1.34±0.06 and 1.35±0.04, respectively).CONCLUSIONS: pSNAV-CTLA4Ig effectively expressed CTLA4Ig in liver allografts. CTLA4Ig improved the pathological findings after liver transplantation. CTLA4Ig induced immune tolerance of liver transplantation, and the mechanism involved induced alteration of Th1 and Th2 cytokine transcripts. 4Synthesis and thermal properties of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile)-graft-polyethylene glycol copolymers as novel solid–solid phase change materials for thermal energy storage显示文摘A novel poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile)-graft-polyethylene glycol(SAN-g-PEG) copolymer was synthesized as new solid–solid phase change materials(SSPCMs) by grafting PEG to the main chain of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile). The chemical structure of the SAN-g-PEG was confirmed by the Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H NMR) spectroscopy techniques. The thermal energy storage properties and the storage durability of the SAN-g-PEG were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The SAN-g-PEG was endowed with the solid–solid phase transition temperatures within the range of 23–36 8C and the latent heat enthalpy ranged from 66.8 k J/kg to 68.3 k J/kg. Thermal cycling tests revealed that the SAN-g-PEG kept great heat storage durability after 1000 thermal cycles. 5Advances of polymer binders for silicon-based anodes in high energy density lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Conventional lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with graphite anodes are approaching their theoretical limitations in energy density.Replacing the conventional graphite anodes with high-capacity Si-based anodes represents one of the most promising strategies to greatly boost the energy density of LIBs.However,the inherent huge volume expansion of Si-based materials after lithiation and the resulting series of intractable problems,such as unstable solid electrolyte interphase layer,cracking of electrode,and especially the rapid capacity degradation of cells,severely restrict the practical application of Sibased anodes.Over the past decade,numerous reports have demonstrated that polymer binders play a critical role in alleviating the volume expansion and maintaining the integrity and stable cycling of Si-based anodes.In this review,the state-of-the-art designing of polymer binders for Si-based anodes have been systematically summarized based on their structures,including the linear,branched,crosslinked,and conjugated conductive polymer binders.Especially,the comprehensive designing of multifunctional polymer binders,by a combination of multiple structures,interactions,crosslinking chemistries,ionic or electronic conductivities,soft and hard segments,and so forth,would be promising to promote the practical application of Si-based anodes.Finally,a perspective on the rational design of practical polymer binders for the large-scale application of Si-based anodes is presented.Yu-Ming Zhao Feng-Shu Yue Shi-Cheng Li Yu Zhang Zhong-Rong Tian Quan Xu Sen Xin Yu-Guo Guo 2021InfoMat2021,3,5:8

7Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 8Novel cationic polyamidine:Synthesis,characterization,and sludge dewatering performance显示文摘In this study,a new and facile route was employed for synthesis of polyamidine with abundant cations and attractive five-membered ringlike structural unit.N-vinylformamide and acrylonitrile copolymerized firstly to form intermediates,and the intermediates were processed with hydrochloric acid to produce polyamidine.A series of polymerization conditions(e.g.polymerization time,temperature and dosage of initiator) were optimized through productivity,viscosity and cationic degree as evaluation.SEM analysis illustrated that the amidinization process could reduce the size of spaces between molecular and created compact structure,which would contribute to good flocculation performance and high viscosity.FT-IR,XPS and NMR spectra presented a rather clear structure of polyamidine.34.3%of sludge was sedimentated through the flocculation of polyamidine in the early stages.In contrast,only 6.8%of sludge was sedimentated by polyacrylamide.The moisture content in dehydrated floc could be reduced to 77.7%when 60 mg/L polyamidine was added.These results demonstrated that the polyamidine showed a great potential in the practical application of sludge dewatering.Bo Guo Huan Yu Baoyu Gao Sen Zhang Qinyan Yue Xing Xu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:7

10Variability in the composition and export of silica in the Huanghe River Basin显示文摘Concentrations of suspended particle material(SPM), dissolved silicate(DSi), biogenic silica(BSi), phytoliths(plant produced siliceous microscopic structures), and other parameters were analyzed to examine the influence of both natural processes and human activities on silica delivery to the estuary of the Huanghe River(Yellow River). Our results indicate that the concentrations of DSi in the river decreased significantly since 1986. Approximately 34% of dissolved silica was trapped in the basin between 1986 and 2010 due to a reduction of soil erosion. Phytoliths comprised 67.2%–96.3% of BSi, with the smoothing bar type being the dominant form. Concentrations of BSi are significantly higher in the Huanghe River compared to other major rivers throughout the world due to its high sediment yield. We also found that the ratios of BSi/(BSi+DSi) and BSi/SPM were approximately 0.5 and 0.003 at Lijin near the river mouth, indicating that BSi carried in suspension by the Huanghe River was an important component of the rivers silica load. Significant amounts of BSi were also composed of phytoliths in Bohai Sea sediments near the Huanghe River estuary with the smoothing bar form again being the most abundant. The relatively high specific fluxes of BSi in the Huanghe River reflect its high turbidity and high erosion rates in the basin. The high sediment load originating on the Loess Plateau is likely responsible for the higher BSi flux, in agreement with a general trend of increasing BSi flux with increasing sediment flux in global river systems. This study demonstrates that BSi transported by rivers can be composed largely of phytoliths originating from the erosion of topsoils. 14Is there an association between Helicobacter pylori infection and irritable bowel syndrome? A meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a prevalent and debilitating gastrointestinal condition.Research has reported persistent,low-grade mucosal inflammation and significant overlaps between patients with IBS and those with dyspepsia,suggesting a possible pathogenic role of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)in IBS.This study therefore aimed to provide the first systematic review and meta-analysis on the association between H.pylori infection and IBS.AIM To investigate the association between H.pylori infection and IBS.METHODS Using the keywords“H.pylori OR Helicobacter OR Helicobacter pylori OR infection”AND“irritable bowel syndrome OR IBS”,a preliminary search of PubMed,Medline,Embase,Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews,Web of Science,Google Scholar and WanFang databases yielded 2924 papers published in English between 1 January 1960 and 1 June 2018.Attempts were also made to search grey literature.RESULTS A total of 13 clinical studies were systematically reviewed and nine studies were included in the final meta-analysis.Random-effects meta-analysis found a slight increased likelihood of H.pylori infection in patients with IBS,albeit this was not statistically significant(pooled odds ratio 1.47,95%confidence interval:0.90-2.40,P=0.123).It must also be acknowledged that all of the available studies reported only crude odd ratios.H.pylori eradication therapy also does not appear to improve IBS symptoms.Although publication bias was not observed in the funnel plot,there was a high degree of heterogeneity amongst the studies included in the meta-analysis(I2=87.38%).CONCLUSION Overall,current evidence does not support an association between IBS and H.pylori infection.Further rigorous and detailed studies with larger sample sizes and after H.pylori eradication therapy are warranted.Qin Xiang Ng Nadine Xinhui Foo Wayren Loke Yun Qing Koh Vanessa Jing Min Seah Alex Yu Sen Soh Wee Song Yeo 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,37:5

16Processing of a Novel Zn Alloy Micro-Tube for Biodegradable Vascular Stent Application显示文摘In recent years, zinc based alloys as a new biodegradable metal material aroused intensive interests.However, the processing of Zn alloys micro-tubes(named slender-diameter and thin-walled tubes) is very difficult due to their HCP crystal structure and unfavorable mechanical properties. This study aimed to develop a novel technique to produce micro-tube of Zn alloy with good performance for biodegradable vascular stent application. In the present work, a processing method that combined drilling, cold rolling and optimized drawing was proposed to produce the novel Zn–5Mg–1Fe(wt%) alloy microtubes. The micro-tube with outer diameter of 2.5 mm and thickness of 130 μm was fabricated by this method and its dimension errors are within 10 μm. The micro-tube exhibits a fine and homogeneous microstructure, and the ultimate tensile strength and ductility are more than 220 MPa and 20% respectively. In addition, the micro-tube and stents of Zn alloy exhibit superior in vitro corrosion and expansion performance. 18Mining and Integrating Reliable Decision Rules for Imbalanced Cancer Gene Expression Data Sets显示文摘There have been many skewed cancer gene expression datasets in the post-genomic era. Extraction of differential expression genes or construction of decision rules using these skewed datasets by traditional algorithms will seriously underestimate the performance of the minority class, leading to inaccurate diagnosis in clinical trails. This paper presents a skewed gene selection algorithm that introduces a weighted metric into the gene selection procedure. The extracted genes are paired as decision rules to distinguish both classes, with these decision rules then integrated into an ensemble learning framework by majority voting to recognize test examples; thus avoiding tedious data normalization and classifier construction. 19Late Mesozoic Tectonic Evolution of Southwestern Fujian Province,South China:Constraints from Magnetic Fabric,Zircon U-Pb Geochronology and Structural Deformation显示文摘A combined study of magnetic fabrics, zircon U-Pb geochronology and structural deformation was carried out for Late Paleozoic sedimentary and Mesozoic magmatic rocks in the southwestern Fujian rift basin, South China, aiming at deciphering the tectonic evolution during Late Mesozoic. Field observations showed that the Late Mesozoic structure deformations in southwestern Fujian were categorized into four phases: NW-SE compression, ENE-WSW extension, NNE-SSW compression and NNW-SSE extension, sequentially. Zircons picked out from Juzhou granite and WNW-trending diabase dykes showed complete crystal shapes and clear oscillatory zonings on their edges, and the U-Pb dating yielded ages of 132 and 141 Ma, respectively. The susceptibility ellipsoid magnitude parameters of the Juzhou granite are characterized by flaser type strain ellipsoid, with pole density center of K3 falling into the first and the third quadrants, these features revealed that the Juzhou granite formed in ENE-WSW compressional stress field, indicating the early stage of Early Cretaceous extrusion in southwestern Fujian. The late stage of Early Cretaceous NNE-SSW extension was limited by the widespread WNW-trending diabase dykes, which were usually regarded as important indications for a regional extensional setting.
