1Antidiabetic activity of alcoholic leaves extract of Alangium lamarckii Thwaites on streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate antidiabetic potential of alcoholic leaves extract of Alangium lamarekii (A.lamarckii) on streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic rats.Methods:Oral glucose tolerance test was done by inducing hyperglycemic state via administration of glucose in water(2 g/kg).Single dose of alcoholic leaves extract of.4.lamarckii(250 and 500 mg/kg,p.o.) were administered to normoglycemic,hyperglycemic rats.Type 2 diabetes was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of nicotinamide(110 mg/kg) followed by streptozotocin(65 mg/kg).The study also included estimations of blood plasma glucose,lipid profile,liver glycogen,body weight and antioxidant status in normal and diabetic rats.Results:Admistration of alcoholic extract of A.lamarekii at two dosage 250 and 500 rag/kg,p.o.did not showed any significant change in blood glucose level of normoglycemic rats(P>0.05).whereas,oral glucose tolerance test depicted reduction in blood glucose level(P<0.05).The streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced diabetic rats, significantly decreased the blood plasma glucose level(P<0.001) comparable to glibenclamide (10 mg/kg),restored the lipid profile and showed improvement in liver glycogen,body weight and antioxidant status in diabetic rats.Conclusions:Present finding demonstrated the significant antidiabetic activity of alcoholic leaves extract of.4.lamarekii.Rajesh Kumar Dinesh Kumar Pate Satyendra Kuldip Prasad Kirshnamurthy Sairam Siva Hemalatha 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,11:8
2Carcinogenic Helicobacter pylori in gastric pre-cancer and cancer lesions: Association with tobacco-chewing显示文摘AIM:To investigate the low gastric cancer incidence rate relative to the highly prevalent Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection;data relevant to H.pylori infection during gastric carcinogenesis in Indian patients is currently lacking.METHODS:The present study examines the prevalence of H.pylori infection in DNA derived from 156endoscopic gastric biopsies of different disease groups that represent gastric pre-cancer[intestinal metaplasia(n=15),dysplasia(n=15)],cancer[diffuse adenocarcinoma(n=44),intestinal adenocarcinoma(n=21)],and symptomatic but histopathologically-normal controls(n=61).This was done by generic ureC polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and cagA-specific PCR that could specifically identify the carcinogenic H.pylori strain.RESULTS:Our analysis showed the presence of H.pylori infection in 61%of symptomatic histopathologically-normal individuals,however only 34%of control tissues were harboring the cagA+H.pylori strain.A similar proportion of H.pylori infection(52%)and cagA(26%)positivity was observed in the tumor tissue of the gastric cancer group.In comparison,H.pylori infection(90%)and cagA positivity(73%)were the highest in gastric pre-cancer lesions.In relation to tobacco and alcohol abuse,H.pylori infection showed an association with tobacco chewing,whereas we did not observe any association between tobacco smoking or alcohol abuse with prevalence of H.pylori infection in the tissue of any of the patient groups studied.CONCLUSION:High incidence of H.pylori infection and carcinogenic cagA positive strain in pre-cancer lesions during gastric carcinogenesis may beArvind Pandey Satyendra Chandra Tripathi Sutapa Mahata Kanchan Vishnoi Shirish Shukla Sri Prakash Misra Vatsala Misra Suresh Hedau Ravi Mehrotra Manisha DwivediZ Alok C Bharti 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,22:4

4Identification and characterization of microsatellite markers for yellow grouper Epinephelus awoara and bluelined hind Cephalopholis formosa显示文摘The wide distribution and color variation of grouper make it difficult not only to identify grouper species visually, but also to determine genetic structure of their populations, the latter being important implication for the design of adequate management program. One alternative for gathering information on these species is the use of molecular genetic markers. Here, we identified and characterized eight microsatellite markers from yellow grouper Epinephelus awoara and bluelined hind grouper Cephalopholis formosa. All these produced consistent polymerase chain reaction product, and seven loci were found to be highly variable. These loci were all composed of dinucleotide repeats, with the number of alleles ranging from 2 to 6, with heterozygosities ranging from 33% to 95% in E.awoara and from 25% to 100% in C.formosa. The high levels of variability observed should make these markers useful for population genetic studies of this two species, and potentially other Epinephelus and Cephalopholis. 6Ayurvedic concept of Shatkriyakala:a traditional knowledge of cancer pathogenesis and therapy显示文摘The term Kriyakala refers to the recognition of the stage of a disease's progress,which helps to determine appropriate measure to correct the imbalance in Doshas(biological factors).It is a compound expression,comprised of Kriya and Kala,where Kriya means the choice to treatment(medicine,food and daily-routine) used to improve the disturbance in Doshas,and Kala refers to the stage of progress of a disease.Sushruta,an ancient Indian surgeon,has described the concept of Kriyakala in Varnaprashnadhyaya,an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text,which seeks to explain the incidence of Varnas in terms of Doshic disturbances.Varna,in modern parlance,may be described as an inflammatory process that may lead ulceration and chronic inflammation,promoting all stages of carcinogenesis.Abnormal interactions between Prakriti(genotype) and environmental factors vitiate the Doshas and impair immunity,which can lead to aberrant cell growth and cancer.Moreover,the interaction between vitiated Doshas and weak Dhatus(body tissues) manifests as cancers of a specific organ.Shatkriyakala(six stages of progress of a disease),on the other hand,provides a framework to assess the cancer and its pathogenesis in different stages.According to Ayurvedic concepts,all cancer therapies treat the affected tissues indirectly by eliminating vitiated Doshas,rejuvenating Dhatus and restoring immunity in cancer patients.The present review describes the six stages of Shatkhyakala in detail,with an emphasis on research areas to validate the concept of Shatkhyakala.This traditional knowledge can be utilized with modern technologies to detect predisposition for cancer or diagnose cancer in its early stages.Ashutosh Chauhan Deepak Kumar Semwal Satyendra Prasad Mishra Ruchi Badoni Semwal 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2:3

8Novel synthesis with an atomized microemulsion technique and characterization of nano-calcium carbonate(CaCO_3)/poly(methyl methacrylate) core-shell nanoparticles显示文摘The synthesis of hard-core/soft-shell calcium carbonate(CaCO_3)/poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)hybrid structured nanoparticles(<100nm) by an atomized microemulsion polymerization process is reported.The polymer chains were anchored onto the surface of nano-CaCO_3 through use of a coupling agent,triethoxyvinyl silane(TEVS).Ammonium persulfate(APS),sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)and n-pentanol were used as the initiator,surfactant and cosurfactant,respectively.The polymerization mechanism of the core-shell latex particles is discussed.The encapsulation of nano-CaCO_3 by PMMA was confirmed using a transmission electron microscope(TEM).The grafting percentage of the core-shell particles was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The nano-CaCO_3/PMMA core-shell particles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).The FTIR results revealed the existence of a strong interaction at the interface of the nano-CaCO_3 particle and the PMMA,which implies that the polymer chains were successfully grafted onto the surface of the nano-CaCO_3 particles through the link of the coupling agent.In addition,the TGA and DSC results indicated an enhancement of the thermal stability of the core-shell materials compared with that of the pure nano-PMMA.The nano-CaCO_3/PMMA particles were blended into a polypropylene(PP) matrix by melt processing.It can also be observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) that the PMMA chains grafted onto the CaCO_3 nanoparticles interfere with the aggregation of CaCO_3 in the polymer matrix(PP matrix) and thus improve the compatibility of the CaCO_3 nanoparticles with the PP matrix.Aniruddha Chatterjee Satyendra Mishra 2013Particuology2013,11,6:2

18Rib stability: A way forward for safe coal extraction in India显示文摘Ensuring rib stability during pillar extraction is of prime importance in bord and pillar(B&P) method of underground coal mining with caving. Rib stability has been assessed here by way of assessing factor of safety(FOS), a ratio of the strength of rib to stress on it. Earlier formulations for rib stability when applied to case studies gave very low FOS value suggesting significant ground control problems, which were contrary to the field observations. This has necessitated the need to revisit the concept of rib stability. The stress coming on the rib is estimated with the use of numerical modeling technique using the FLAC^(3D) software. The methodology of assessing rib-stability with the help of suggested rib-strength formulation has been validated at eight Indian coal mines. The outcome of this study finds relevance and importance in ensuring underground coal liquidation with improved safety and conservation.Singh Satyendra K.
