| 1 | Baicalin induces ferroptosis in bladder cancer cells by downregulating FTH1显示文摘Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic regulated cell death caused by iron accumulation and subsequent lipid peroxidation.Currently,the therapeutic role of ferroptosis on cancer is gaining increasing interest.Baicalin an active component in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi with anticancer potential various cancer types;however,the effects of baicalein on bladder cancer and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown.In the study,we investigated the effect of baicalin on bladder cancer cells5637 and KU-19-19.As a result,we show baicalin exerted its anticancer activity by inducing apoptosis and cell death in bladder cancer cells.Subsequently,we for the first time demonstrate baicalin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro and in vivo,accompanied by reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation and intracellular chelate iron enrichment.The ferroptosis inhibitor deferoxamine but not necrostatin-1,chloroquine(CQ),N-acetyl-L-cysteine,L-glutathione reduced,or carbobenzoxy-valyl-alanyl-aspartyl-[O-methyl]-fluoromethylketone(Z-VAD-FMK) rescued baicalin-induced cell death,indicating ferroptosis contributed to baicalin-induced cell death.Mechanistically,we show that ferritin heavy chain1(FTH1) was a key determinant for baicalin-induced ferroptosis.Overexpression of FTH1 abrogated the anticancer effects of baicalin in both 5637 and KU19-19 cells.Taken together,our data for the first time suggest that the natural product baicalin exerts its anticancer activity by inducing FTH1-dependent ferroptosis,which will hopefully provide a prospective compound for bladder cancer treatment. | Na Kong Xiaying Chen Jiao Feng Ting Duan Shuiping Liu Xueni Sun Peng Chen Ting Pan Lili Yan Ting Jin Yu Xiang Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Weirui Ma Wencheng Liu Mingming Zhang Zuyi Yang Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Tian Xie Xinbing Sui Wei Tao | 2021 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,12: | 23 |
| 2 | Photosynthetic Characteristics of a Super High Yield Cultivar of Winter Wheat During Late Growth Period显示文摘The mechanism of high yield of winter wheat in the field at late growth period was investigated by measuring the photosynthetic characteristics of photosystem II (PSII) and xanthophylls cycle, which could provide physiological reference for breeding. Weimai 8 (W8), a super high yield cultivar, and Lumai 14 (L14), a control cultivar were object. The photosynthetic rate (Pn), parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence and chlorophyll content were measured. The Pn, maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm), quantum yield of PSII electron transport ( PSII), efficiency of excitation energy capture by open PSII reaction centers (Fv′/Fm′), and photochemical quenching coefficient (qP) were higher in Weimai 8 compared to that in Lumai 14, a commercial high yield cultivar. Furthermore, Weimai 8 showed a lower nonphotochemical quenching coefficient and a lower de-epoxidized ratio of the xanthophyll cycle pigments than of Lumai 14 at late growth period. At mature stage, chlorophyll content of different leaves decreased both in Weimai 8 and Lumai 14. Chlorophyll content in flag, second and third leaf from the top of plant decreased more in Lumai 14 than in Weimai 8. These results suggested that Weimai 8 had more antenna pigments to absorb light energy, and had higher photosynthetic capability and photochemical efficiency of PSII. | 3 | Primary research on neoplasm needle track implantation metastasis after radioactive seeds implantation and preventive measures显示文摘Objective:To observe the possibility of neoplasm needle track implantation after radioactive seeds implantation and seek preventive measures to avoid it.Methods:Superficial tissue of 250 seeding needle cores and 250 stylophores employed in neoplasm radioactive seeds implantation was smeared on slides to search for tumor cells.All patients received chemotherapy or endocrine therapy after operations.Ultrasound B-mode or computer tomography(CT)was performed at 10th day,30th day,60th day,and 180th day post operation to detect neoplasm implantation metastasis through needle tracks. Results:Positive cells were found on 13 of 250(5.20%)cores,and 7 of 250(2.80%)stylophores.The difference was not sta- tistically significant(P>0.05).The positive cells frequency of needles those traversed distance less than 3 cm in normal tissue was 6.19%(13/210),while the frequency of the others those traversed longer distance in normal tissue was 2.41%(7/290). | 5 | Three-liquid-phase extraction and separation of V(V) and Cr(VI) from acidic leach solutions of high-chromium vanadium–titanium magnetite显示文摘A new method by liquid–liquid–liquid three phase system, consisting of acidified primary amine N1923(abbreviated as A-N1923), poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) and (NH_4)_2SO_4 aqueous solution, was suggested for the separation and simultaneous extraction of V(V) and Cr(VI) from the acidic leach solutions of highchromium vanadium–titanium magnetite. Experimental results indicated that V(V) and Cr(VI) could be selectively enriched into the A-N1923 organic top phase and PEG-rich middle phase, respectively, while Al(III)and other co-existing impurity ions, such as Si(IV), Fe(III), Ti(IV), Mg(II) and Ca(II) in acidic leach solutions,could be enriched in the(NH_4)_2SO_4 bottom aqueous phase. During the process for extraction and separation of V(V) and Cr(VI), almost all of impurity ions could be removed. The separation factors between V(V) and Cr(VI) could reach 630 and 908, respectively in the organic top phase and PEG middle phase, and yields of recovered V(V) and Cr(VI) in the top phase and middle phase respectively were all above 90%.Various effects including aqueous p H, A-N1923 concentration, PEG added amount and(NH_4)_2SO_4 concentration on three-phase partitioning of V(V) and Cr(VI) were discussed. It was found that the partition of Cr(VI) into the PEG-rich middle phase was driven by hydrophobic interaction, while extraction of V(V) by A-N1923 resulted of anion exchange between NO_3^- and H_2V_(10)O_(28)^(-4). Stripping of V(V) and Cr(VI) from the top organic phase and the middle PEG-rich phase were achieved by mixing respectively with NaNO_3 aqueous solutions and Na OH-((NH_4)_2SO_4 solutions. | 6 | Atractylodes lancea rhizome water extract reduces triptolide-induced toxicity and enhances anti-inflammatory effects显示文摘The present study was designed to explore the influence of water extracts of Atractylodes lancea rhizomes on the toxicity and anti-inflammatory effects of triptolide(TP). A water extract was prepared from A. lancea rhizomes and co-administered with TP in C57BL/6 mice. The toxicity was assayed by determining serum biochemical parameters and visceral indexes and by liver histopathological analysis. The hepatic CYP3A expression levels were detected using Western blotting and RT-PCR methods. The data showed that the water extract of A. lancea rhizomes reduced triptolide-induced toxicity, probably by inducing the hepatic expression of CYP3A. The anti-inflammatory effects of TP were evaluated in mice using a xylene-induced ear edema test. By comparing ear edema inhibition rates, we found that the water extract could also increase the anti-inflammatory effects of TP. | 7 | Influence of Er_2O_3 content on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZTA-TiO_2 composites显示文摘The influence of Er_2 O_3 addition on the phase evolution and mechanical properties of sintered(1600 ℃,4 h) ZTA(yttria stabilized zirconia toughened alumina)-TiO_2 composites was investigated. The SEM and XRD results reveal the formation of a new erbium zirconium oxide,Zr_3 Er_4 O_(12),with a granulate morphology when Er_2 O_3 content is higher than 1 wt%. The grain sizes of both Al_2 O_3 and yttria-stabilized zirconia phases decrease with an increase in the Er_2 O_3 content. The relative density, Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of the composites are found to be strongly dependent on their grain sizes, relative densities and the formation of the Zr_3 Er_4 O_(12) secondary phases. | 8 | SNP-based QTL mapping for panicle traits in the japonica super rice cultivar Liaoxing 1显示文摘Panicle traits directly associated with yield are a target of selection in rice breeding.Although abundant QTL for panicle traits have been identified,there is little information about the genetic basis of panicle traits in japonica super rice(JSR)cultivars.In this study,we identified QTL for panicle traits in three environments using a population of recombinant inbred lines(RILs)derived from the JSR cultivar Liaoxing 1.A total of 197 RILs were genotyped with 285 polymorphic SNP markers.Phenotypic data and best linear unbiased prediction(BLUP)value of primary branch number(BNP),secondary branch number(BNS),grain number on primary branch(GNP),grain number on secondary branch(GNS),grain number per panicle(GN),panicle length(PL)and grain density(GD)were used for QTL mapping.A total of 105 QTL for seven panicle traits were detected in single environments using their BLUP values.Individual QTL explained 0.51%–52.22%of the phenotypic variation.Of the 105,49 were also detected by joint multi-environment analyses.Five stable QTL:qGD9,qPL9,qGNP9,qGN6,and qBNS6.2 were identified in multiple environments.qGD9,qGNP9,and qPL9,co-localizing on chromosome 9,likely correspond to the known gene DEP1.Importantly,qGN6 and qBNS6.2 in a co-localization region were identified as novel QTL,and their Liaoxing 1 alleles had a positive effect.Several RILs with the QTL allele combinations qGD9/qPL9/qGNP9 and qGN6/qBNS6.2 showed greater GN.Further investigation of the putative gene underlying qGN6/qBNS6.2 would shed light on the molecular mechanism of JSR. | Mingzhu Zhao Zuobin Ma Lili Wang Zhiqiang Tang Ting Mao Chuanbin Liang Hong Gao Liying Zhang Na He Liang Fu Changhua Wang Guomin Sui Wenjing Zheng | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,5: | 4 |

| 10 | Ultralight aerogel sphere composed of nanocellulose-derived carbon nanofiber and graphene for excellent electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘A novel type of three-dimensional ultralight aerogel sphere,consisting of one-dimensional nanocellulose-derived carbon fibers and two-dimensional graphene layers,was prepared based on a developed drop-freeze-drying followed by carbonization approach.The nanofibrous carbon efficiently prevents the agglomeration of the graphene layers,which,in turn,reduces the shrinkage and maintains the structural stability of the hybrid carbon aerogel spheres.Consequently,the aerogel spheres showing an ultralow-density of 2.8 mg/cm^(3) and a porosity of 99.98%accomplish the tunable dielectric property and electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption performance.The high-efficiency utilization of biomass-derived fibrous nanocarbon,graphene,the porous structure of the hybrid aerogel spheres leads to the excellent EMW absorption performance.The aerogel spheres display an effective absorption bandwidth of 6.16 GHz and a minimum reflection loss of−70.44 dB even at a filler loading of merely 3 wt.%,significantly outperforming that of other biomass-derived carbon-based EMW absorbing materials.This work offers a feasible,facile,scalable approach for fabricating high-performance and sustainable biomass-based aerogels,suggesting a tremendous application potential in EMW absorption and aerospace. | Runa Zhang Bin Li Yunfei Yang Na Wu Zhuyin Sui Qingfu Ban Lili Wu Wei Liu Jiurong Liu Zhihui Zeng | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 2 |

| 13 | Analysis of the Light Concentration Loss of a Fresnel CPV/T System after Dust Accumulation显示文摘Dust accumulation is one of the reasons for the performance degradation of concentrating photovoltaic and thermal(CPV/T) systems due to the deposition of dust particles with different compositions, shapes, sizes, and masses. In this work, an optical model was developed to investigate the influence of the particle size, diameter, shape, and deposition density on the light concentration efficiency, using the Monte Carlo raytracing(MCRT) method in the Tracepro software. The triangular particles had a larger influence on the light ray deflection and energy flux degradation than the circular and square particles. An average increase in the dust density of 1 g/m^(2) decreased the light concentration efficiency of particles with sizes smaller than 50 μm and 60 μm by 3.31% and 3.26%, respectively. The critical exponents associated with the transition are determined: b = 0.32(1), c = 1.41(1),and d ? 5:38. The validity of these critical exponents is further verified by scaling all the MeHT data in the vicinity of TConto two universal curves in the plot of M=jejbversus H=jejbtc, where e ? T=TCà 1.The obtained b and c values show asymmetric behaviors on the T < TCand the T > TCsides, and are consistent with the predicted values of 3 D Ising and cubic universality classes, respectively. This makes Lu2 V2 O7 a rare example in which the critical behaviors associated with a ferromagnetic transition belong to different universality classes.
