1Spatial differences in rock uplift rates inferred from channel steepness indices along the northern flank of the Qilian Mountain,northeast Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The rate and distribution of deformation along the Qilian Mountain,on the northeastern Tibetan Plateau,is needed to understand the evolution of high topography associated with the plateau.Recently,a number of empirical studies have provided support for the contention,common to most models of fluvial incision,that rock uplift rate exerts a first-order control on the gradient of longitudinal river profiles.Along the northern Qilian Mountain,this method is used to extract information about the spatial patterns of differential rock uplift.Analysis of the longitudinal profiles of bedrock channels reveals systematic differences in the channel steepness index along the trend of the frontal ranges.Local comparisons of channel steepness reveal that lithology and precipitation have limited influence on channel steepness.Similarly,there is little evidence suggesting that channel steepness is influenced by differences in the sediment loads.We argue that the distribution of channel steepness in the Qilian Mountain is mostly the result of differential rates of rock uplift.Thus,channel steepness indices reveal a lower rock uplift rate in the eastern portion of the Qilian Mountain and a higher rate in the middle and west.The highest rates appear to occur in the middle-west portions of the range,just to the west of the Yumu Shan.HU XlaoFei PAN BaoTian KIRBY Eric LI QingYang GENG HaoPeng CHEN JiFeng 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,27:35
2A novel m6A reader Prrc2a controls oligodendroglial specification and myelination显示文摘While N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA, is linked to cell differentiation and tissue development, the biological significance of m6A modification in mammalian glial development remains unknown. Here, we identify a novel m6A reader, Prrc2a (Proline rich coiled-coil 2A), which controls oligodendrocyte specification and myelination. Nestin-Cre-mediated knockout of Prrc2a induces significant hypomyelination, decreased lifespan, as well as locomotive and cognitive defects in a mouse model. Further analyses reveal that Prrc2a is involved in oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) proliferation and oligodendrocyte fate determination. Accordingly, oligodendroglial-lineage specific deletion of Prrc2a causes a similar phenotype of Nestin-Cre-mediated deletion. Combining transcriptome-wide RNA-seq, m6A-RIP-seq and Prrc2a RIP-seq analysis, we find that Olig2 is a critical downstream target gene of Prrc2a in oligodendrocyte development. Furthermore, Prrc2a stabilizes Olig2 mRNA through binding to a consensus GGACU motif in the Olig2 CDS (coding sequence) in an m6A-dependent manner. Interestingly, we also find that the m6A demethylase, Fto, erases the m6A modification of Olig2 mRNA and promotes its degradation. Together, our results indicate that Prrc2a plays an important role in oligodendrocyte specification through functioning as a novel m6A reader. 5Fluid–solid coupling analysis of rock pillar stability for concealed karst cave ahead of a roadway based on catastrophic theory显示文摘In order to study the mechanism of water inrush from a concealed, confined karst cave, we established a fluid–solid coupling model of water inrush from a concealed karst cave ahead of a roadway and a strength reduction method in a rock pillar for preventing water inrush based on catastrophic theory. Fluid–solid coupling effects and safety margins in a rock pillar were studied. Analysis shows that rock pillar instability, exerted by disturbance stress and seepage stress, is the process of rock pillar catastrophic destabilization induced by nonlinear extension of plastic zones in the rock pillar. Seepage flow emerges in the rock pillar for preventing water inrush, accompanied by mechanical instability of the rock pillar. Taking the accident of a confined karst cave water-inrush of Qiyi Mine as an example, by studying the safety factor of the rock pillar and the relationship between karst cave water pressure and thickness of the rock pillar,it is proposed that rock pillar thickness with a safety factor equal to 1.5 is regarded as the calculated safety thickness of the rock pillar, which should be equal to the sum of the blasthole depth, blasting disturbance depth and the calculated safety thickness of the rock pillar. The cause of the karst water inrush at Qiyi Mine is that the rock pillar was so small that it did not possess a safety margin. 6Novel roll effector based on zero-mass-flux dual synthetic jets and its flight test显示文摘The autonomous and controllable Dual Synthetic Jet Actuator(DSJA)is firstly integrated into the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV),and flight tests without the deflection of rudders are carried out to verify the viability of DSJA to control the attitudes of UAV during cruising.DSJA is improved into an actuator with two diaphragms and three cavities,which has higher energy levels.Actuators,differentially distributed on both sides of the wings,are installed on the trailing edge close to the wing tips.Flight tests,containing Differential Circulation Control(DCC)using double-side actuators,Positive Circulation Control(PCC)using left-side actuators and Negative Circulation Control(NCC)using right-side actuators,are implemented at cruising speed of 25 m/s.Results show that roll attitude control without rudders could be realized by DSJAs.DCC and NCC can generate the rightward roll and yaw angular velocity,prompting UAV to turn right.The stronger controlling ability can be achieved by DCC,with the maximum roll angular velocity of 15.62(°)/s.PCC can generate a rightward roll moment,but a leftward yaw moment will be produced at the same time.Leftward yaw induces the leftward rolling moment,which weakens the roll control effect,making UAV keep to yaw to the left with a small slope.Zhenbing LUO Zhijie ZHAO Jiefu LIU Xiong DENG Mu ZHENG Hang YANG Qingyang CHEN Shiqing LI 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,8:7
7Cryo-self-assembled silk fibroin sponge as a biodegradable platform for enzyme-responsive delivery of exosomes显示文摘Although advances in protein assembly preparation have provided a new platform for drug delivery during tissue engineering,achieving long-term controlled exosome delivery remains a significant challenge.Diffusion-dominated exosome release using protein hydrogels results in burst release of exosomes.Here,a fibroin-based cryo-sponge was developed to provide controlled exosome release.Fibroin chains can self-assemble into silk I structures under ice-cold conditions when annealed above the glass transition temperature.Exosome release is enzyme-responsive,with rates primarily determined by enzymatic degradation of the scaffolds.In vivo experiments have demonstrated that exosomes remain in undigested sponge material for two months,superior to their retention in fibrin glue,a commonly used biomaterial in clinical practice.Fibroin cryo-sponges were implanted subcutaneously in nude mice.The exosome-containing sponge group exhibited better neovascularization and tissue ingrowth effects,demonstrating the efficacy of this exosome-encapsulating strategy by realizing sustained release and maintaining exosome bioactivity.These silk fibroin cryo-sponges containing exosomes provide a new platform for future studies of exosome therapy.Muyang Sun Qi Li Huilei Yu Jin Cheng Nier Wu Weili Shi Fengyuan Zhao Zhenxing Shao Qingyang Meng Haifeng Chen Xiaoqing Hu Yingfang Ao 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:4
8All-optical computing based on convolutional neural networks显示文摘The rapid development of information technology has fueled an ever-increasing demand for ultrafast and ultralow-en-ergy-consumption computing.Existing computing instruments are pre-dominantly electronic processors,which use elec-trons as information carriers and possess von Neumann architecture featured by physical separation of storage and pro-cessing.The scaling of computing speed is limited not only by data transfer between memory and processing units,but also by RC delay associated with integrated circuits.Moreover,excessive heating due to Ohmic losses is becoming a severe bottleneck for both speed and power consumption scaling.Using photons as information carriers is a promising alternative.Owing to the weak third-order optical nonlinearity of conventional materials,building integrated photonic com-puting chips under traditional von Neumann architecture has been a challenge.Here,we report a new all-optical comput-ing framework to realize ultrafast and ultralow-energy-consumption all-optical computing based on convolutional neural networks.The device is constructed from cascaded silicon Y-shaped waveguides with side-coupled silicon waveguide segments which we termed“weight modulators”to enable complete phase and amplitude control in each waveguide branch.The generic device concept can be used for equation solving,multifunctional logic operations as well as many other mathematical operations.Multiple computing functions including transcendental equation solvers,multifarious logic gate operators,and half-adders were experimentally demonstrated to validate the all-optical computing performances.The time-of-flight of light through the network structure corresponds to an ultrafast computing time of the order of several picoseconds with an ultralow energy consumption of dozens of femtojoules per bit.Our approach can be further expan-ded to fulfill other complex computing tasks based on non-von Neumann architectures and thus paves a new way for on-chip all-optical computing.Kun Liao Ye Chen Zhongcheng Yu Xiaoyong Hu Xingyuan Wang Cuicui Lu Hongtao Lin Qingyang Du Juejun Hu Qihuang Gong 2021Opto-Electronic Advances2021,4,11:3
9Changes of visceral properties and digestive enzymes in the herbivorous marine teleost Siganus canaliculatus fed on different diets显示文摘The rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus is one of the few cultured herbivorous marine teleosts. To better understand the digestive physiology of this fish and provide data for designing formulated feed using macroalgae as an ingredient, the changes of visceral properties and digestive enzyme activities were investigated after the juveniles were fed on different types of food including raw fish(RF), formulated diet(FD) or macroalgae Enteromorpha prolifra(EP) and Gracilaria lemaneiformis(GL) for eight weeks. The results showed that the hepatosomatic and viscerosomatic indices in the RF and FD groups, as well as the relative intestine length(RIL) in the EP and GL groups, were significantly higher than those in other groups. Additionally, differences in the histological structure of the liver and anterior intestine were also observed among different dietary groups. The hepatic nuclei were displaced to the periphery by lipid inclusions in fish fed RF. The highest levels of mucosal folds were found in the anterior intestines of fish fed macroalgae. Digestive enzyme activity profiles showed obvious fluctuations in the first three weeks, and then leveled off in the following weeks. The levels of protease, lipase and α-amylase in the alimentary tract showed changes related to the levels of dietary protein, lipid and carbohydrate, respectively.Although macroalgae significantly inhibited the activity of protease in the stomach, it increased RIL and the number of mucosal folds in the anterior intestine so as to compensate for the influences on protease activities in the stomach. 10Evidence for oxygenation of Fe-Mg oxides at mid-mantle conditions and the rise of deep oxygen显示文摘As the reaction product of subducted water and the iron core,FeO2 with more oxygen than hematite(Fe_(2)O_(3))has been recently recognized as an important component in the D'layer just above the Earth’s core-mantle boundary.Here,we report a new oxygen-excess phase(Mg,Fe)_(2)O_(3)+δ(0<δ<1,denoted as‘OE-phase’).It forms at pressures greater than 40 gigapascal when(Mg,Fe)-bearing hydrous materials are heated over 1500 kelvin.The OE-phase is fully recoverable to ambient conditions for ex situ investigation using transmission electron microscopy,which indicates that the OE-phase contains ferric iron(Fe^(3+))as in Fe_(2)O_(3) but holds excess oxygen through interactions between oxygen atoms.The new OE-phase provides strong evidence that H_(2)O has extraordinary oxidation power at high pressure.Unlike the formation of pyrite-type FeO_(2)H_(x) which usually requires saturated water,the OE-phase can be formed with under-saturated water at mid-mantle conditions,and is expected to be more ubiquitous at depths greater than 1000 km in the Earth’s mantle.The emergence of oxygen-excess reservoirs out of primordial or subducted(Mg,Fe)-bearing hydrous materials may revise our view on the deep-mantle redox chemistry.Jin Liu Chenxu Wang Chaojia Lv Xiaowan Su Yijin Liu Ruilian Tang Jiuhua Chen Qingyang Hu Ho-Kwang Mao Wendy L.Mao 2021National Science Review2021,8,4:2
11Petrologic and geochemical characteristics of high-quality saline lacustrine source rocks in western Qaidam Basin显示文摘The main oil source in western Qaidam Basin is the Paleogene saline lacustrine source rocks.Traditionally,it was considered that these source rocks were characterized by low abundance and poor type of organic matter as well as limited oil generation potential,but this poor source rock condition was very inconsistent with good hydrocarbon exploration results.A previous study has just confirmed that this area develops high-quality source rocks,which is of great significance for recognizing potential of hydrocarbon resource and consolidating confidence to search large and medium-sized oil and gas fields in western Qaidam Basin.Based on fine geochemical analysis of source rocks,petrology,element geochemistry and organic geochemistry are applied to discuss development conditions of high-quality source rocks in this area.The results showed that the saline lacustrine sediments in western Qaidam Basin were deposited in relatively shallow and quiet water with relatively high salinity and low nutrient content;influenced by the drought and cold climate,the terrigenous supply of fresh water was limited,and few aquatic organisms were developed.Good preservation condition is favorable for rapid preservation of oil generating biomass(such as aquatic organisms),to form source rocks rich in hydrogen element with high soluble organic matter content;but relatively lower paleo-productivity makes organic matter abundance lower than that in the eastern saline lacustrine basins.The semi-deep lake,with relatively low salinity and abundant nutrients,is the most favorable are for development of high-quality source rocks;the source rocks have large thickness in the sedimentary depression areas,but due to high water salinity and far away from the provenance area,the water stratification was obvious,so it have moderate to high organic matter abundance.Bin Zhang Yuanyuan He Yan Chen Qingyang Meng Jiaxuan Huang Li Yuan 2018Petroleum Research2018,3,4:2
12Activation of medial septum cholinergic neurons restores cognitive function in temporal lobe epilepsy显示文摘Cognitive impairment is the most common complication in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal scle rosis.There is no effective treatment for cognitive impairment.Medial septum cholinergic neurons have been reported to be a potential target for controlling epileptic seizures in tempo ral lobe epile psy.However,their role in the cognitive impairment of temporal lobe epilepsy remains unclear.In this study,we found that patients with temporal lobe epile psy with hippocampal sclerosis had a low memory quotient and severe impairment in verbal memory,but had no impairment in nonverbal memory.The cognitive impairment was slightly correlated with reduced medial septum volume and medial septum-hippocampus tra cts measured by diffusion tensor imaging.In a mouse model of chronic temporal lobe epilepsy induced by kainic acid,the number of medial septum choline rgic neurons was reduced and acetylcholine release was reduced in the hippocampus.Furthermore,selective apoptosis of medial septum cholinergic neurons mimicked the cognitive deficits in epileptic mice,and activation of medial septum cholinergic neurons enhanced hippocampal acetylcholine release and restored cognitive function in both kainic acid-and kindling-induced epile psy models.These res ults suggest that activation of medial septum cholinergic neurons reduces cognitive deficits in temporal lobe epilepsy by increasing acetylcholine release via projections to the hippocampus.Junzi Chen Yu Wang Cong Chen Qingyang Zhang Shuang Wang Yi Wang Jiajia Fang Ying Wang 2023Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,11:1

14Mineralogy of the deep lower mantle in the presence of H_(2)O显示文摘Understanding the mineralogy of the Earth’s interior is a prerequisite for unravelling the evolution and dynamics of our planet.Here,we conducted high pressure-temperature experiments mimicking the conditions of the deep lower mantle(DLM,1800–2890 km in depth)and observed surprising mineralogical transformations in the presence of water.Ferropericlase,(Mg,Fe)O,which is the most abundant oxide mineral in Earth,reacts with H_(2)O to form a previously unknown(Mg,Fe)O_(2)H_(x)(x≤1)phase.The(Mg,Fe)O_(2)H_(x) has a pyrite structure and it coexists with the dominant silicate phases,bridgmanite and post-perovskite.Depending on Mg content and geotherm temperatures,the transformation may occur at 1800 km for(Mg_(0.6)Fe_(0.4))O or beyond 2300 km for(Mg_(0.7)Fe_(0.3))O.The(Mg,Fe)O_(2)H_(x) is an oxygen excess phase that stores an excessive amount of oxygen beyond the charge balance of maximum cation valences(Mg^(2+),Fe^(3+) and H^(+)).This important phase has a number of far-reaching implications including extreme redox inhomogeneity,deep-oxygen reservoirs in the DLM and an internal source for modulating oxygen in the atmosphere.Qingyang Hu Jin Liu Jiuhua Chen Bingmin Yan Yue Meng Vitali B.Prakapenka Wendy L.Mao Ho-Kwang Mao 2021National Science Review2021,8,4:1
