Physical exercises for preventing injuries among adult male football players:A systematic review显示文摘Background:Football is the most practised sport in the world and is associated with the risk of injuries in the players. Some studies have been published that identify injury prevention programs, but there is no review of the full body of evidence on injury prevention programs for use by football coaches. The aim of this article was to carry out a systematic review of published studies on injury prevention programs for adult male footballers, identify points of common understanding and establish recommendations that should be considered in the design of injury prevention strategies. Methods:PubMed and EMBASE databases were used to identify relevant published articles using the following keywords:'soccer'AND'injury'AND'prevention'.Results:A total of 2512 studies were identified initially, but only 11 studies met the inclusion criteria, and their outcomes are presented. Results revealed that injury prevention programs in football have focused on strength training, proprioceptive training, multicomponent programs(balance, core stability, and functional strength and mobility),and warm-up programs. Conclusion:Based on results from the studies analyzed, football players can lower the incidence of match and training injuries by participating in dynamic warm-up programs that include preventive exercises before games or during training sessions, and by adding strength, balance, and mobility training to the training sessions.Jorge Pérez-Gómez JoséCarmelo Adsuar Pedro EAlcaraz Jorge Carlos-Vivas 2022Journal of Sport and Health Science2022,11,1:4

Corticosteroids for severe influenza pneumonia: A critical appraisal显示文摘Influenza pneumonia is associated with high number of severe cases requiring hospital and intensive care unit(ICU) admissions with high mortality. Systemic steroids are proposed as a valid therapeutic option even though its effects are still controversial. Heterogeneity of published data regarding study design, population demographics, severity of illness, dosing, type and timing of corticosteroids administered constitute an important limitation for drawing robust conclusions. However, it is reasonable to admit that, as it was not found any advantage of corticosteroid therapy in so diverse conditions, such beneficial effects do not exist at all. Its administration is likely to increase overall mortality and such trend is consistent regardless of the quality as well as the sample size of studies. Moreover it was shown that corticosteroids might be associated with higher incidence of hospital-acquired pneumonia and longer duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay. Finally, it is reasonable to conclude that corticosteroids failed to demonstrate any beneficial effects in the treatment of patients with severe influenza infection. Thus its current use in s evere influenza pneumonia should be restricted to very selected cases and in the setting of clinical trials.Wagner Luis Nedel David Garcia Nora Jorge Ibrain Figueira Salluh Thiago Lisboa Pedro Póvoa 2016World Journal of Critical Care Medicine2016,5,1:3

CD4+ T cells and natural killer cells: Biomarkers for hepatic fibrosis in human immunodeficiency virus/hepatitis C virus-coinfected patients显示文摘AIM To characterize peripheral blood natural killer(NK) cells phenotypes by flow cytometry as potential biomarker of liver fibrosis in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)/hepatitis C virus(HCV) coinfected patients.METHODS Peripheral mononuclear cells from 24 HIV/HCV(HBVnegative) coinfected and 5 HIV/HCV/HBV seronegative individuals were evaluated. HIV/HCV coinfected patients were divided in to groups: G1, patients with METAVIR F0-F2 and G2, patients with METAVIR F3-F4. NK surface cell staining was performed with: AntiCD3(APC/Cy7), anti-CD56(PE/Cy5), anti-CD57(APC), anti-CD25(PE), anti-CD69(FITC), anti-NKp30(PE), antiNKp46(PE/Cy7), anti-NKG2D(APC), anti-DNAM(FITC); anti-CD62L(PE/Cy7), anti-CCR7(PE), anti-TRAIL(PE), anti-Fas L(PE), anti CD94(FITC). Flow cytometry data acquisition was performed on BD FACSCanto, analyzed using Flow Jo software. Frequency of fluorescence was analyzed for all single markers. Clinical records were reviewed, and epidemiological and clinical data were obtained.RESULTS Samples from 11 patients were included in G1 and from 13 in G2. All patients were on ARV, with undetectable HIV viral load. Liver fibrosis was evaluated by transient elastography in 90% of the patients and with biopsy in 10% of the patients. Mean HCV viral load was(6.18 ± 0.7 log10). Even though, no major significant differences were observed between G1 and G2 regarding NK surface markers, it was found that patients with higher liver fibrosis presented statistically lower percentage of NK cells than individual with low to mild fibrosis and healthy controls(G2: 5.4% ± 2.3%, G1: 12.6% ± 8.2%, P = 0.002 and healthy controls 12.2% ± 2.7%, P = 0.008). It was also found that individuals with higher liver fibrosis presented lower CD4 LT count than those from G1(G2: 521 ± 312 cells/μL, G1: 770 ± 205 cells/μL; P = 0.035).CONCLUSION Higher levels of liver fibrosis were associated with lower percentage of NK cells and LTCD4+ count; and they may serve as noninvasive biomarkers of liver damage.Natalia Laufer Diego Ojeda María Laura Polo Ana Martinez Héctor Pérez Gabriela Turk Pedro Cahn Norberto Walter Zwirner Jorge Quarleri 2017World Journal of Hepatology2017,9,25:2

Dendritic cell deficiencies persist seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection显示文摘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus(SARS-CoV)-2 infection induces an exacerbated inflammation driven by innate immunity components.Dendritic cells(DCs)play a key role in the defense against viral infections, for instance plasmacytoid DCs(pDCs),have the capacity to produce vast amounts of interferon-alpha(IFN-α).In COVID-19 there is a deficit in DC numbers and IFN-αproduction,which has been associated with disease severity. In this work,we described that in addition to the DC deficiency, several DC activation and homing markers were altered in acute COVID-19 patients, which were associated with multiple inflammatory markers.Remarkably, previously hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients remained with decreased numbers of CD1c+myeloid DCs and pDCs seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Moreover, the expression of DC markers such as CD86 and CD4 were only restored in previously nonhospitalized patients, while no restoration of integrinβ7 and indoleamine 2,3-dyoxigenase(IDO)levels were observed. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the immunological sequelae of COVID-19.Alberto Pérez-Gómez Joana Vitallé Carmen Gasca-Capote Alicia Gutierrez-Valencia María Trujillo-Rodriguez Ana Serna-Gallego Esperanza Muñoz-Muela María de los Reyes Jiménez-Leon Mohamed Rafii-El-Idrissi Benhnia Inmaculada Rivas-Jeremias Cesar Sotomayor Cristina Roca-Oporto Nuria Espinosa Carmen Infante-Domínguez Juan Carlos Crespo-Rivas Alberto Fernández-Villar Alexandre Pérez-González Luis Fernando López-Cortés Eva Poveda Ezequiel Ruiz-Mateos JoséMiguel Cisneros Sonsoles Salto-Alejandre Judith Berastegui-Cabrera Pedro Camacho-Martínez Carmen Infante-Domínguez Marta Carretero-Ledesma Juan Carlos Crespo-Rivas Eduardo Márquez JoséManuel Lomas Claudio Bueno Rosario Amaya JoséAntonio Lepe Jerónimo Pachón Elisa Cordero Javier Sánchez-Céspedes Manuela Aguilar-Guisado Almudena Aguilera Clara Aguilera Teresa Aldabo-Pallas Verónica Alfaro-Lara Cristina Amodeo Javier Ampuero María Dolores Avilés Maribel Asensio Bosco Barón-Franco Lydia Barrera-Pulido Rafael Bellido-Alba Máximo Bernabeu-Wittel Candela Caballero-Eraso Macarena Cabrera Enrique Calderón Jesús Carbajal-Guerrero Manuela Cid-Cumplido Yael Corcia-Palomo Juan Delgado Antonio Domínguez-Petit Alejandro Deniz Reginal Dusseck-Brutus Ana Escoresca-Ortega Fátima Espinosa Nuria Espinosa Michelle Espinoza Carmen Ferrándiz-Millón Marta Ferrer Teresa Ferrer Ignacio Gallego-Texeira Rosa Gámez-Mancera Emilio García Horacio García-Delgado Manuel García-Gutiérrez María Luisa Gascón-Castillo Aurora González-Estrada Demetrio González Carmen Gómez-González Rocío González-León Carmen Grande-Cabrerizo Sonia Gutiérrez Carlos Hernández-Quiles Inmaculada Concepción Herrera-Melero Marta Herrero-Romero Luis Jara Carlos Jiménez-Juan Silvia Jiménez-Jorge Mercedes Jiménez-Sánchez Julia Lanseros-Tenllado Carmina López Isabel López Álvaro López-Barrios Luis F.López-Cortés Rafael Luque-Márquez Daniel Macías-García Guillermo Martín-Gutiérrez Luis Martín-Villén JoséMolina Aurora Morillo María Dolores Navarro-Amuedo Dolores Nieto-Martín Francisco Ortega María Paniagua-García Amelia Peña-Rodríguez Esther Pérez Manuel Poyato Julia Praena-Segovia Rafaela Ríos Cristina Roca-Oporto Jesús F.Rodríguez María Jesús Rodríguez-Hernández Santiago Rodríguez-Suárez Ángel Rodríguez-Villodres Nieves Romero-Rodríguez Ricardo Ruiz Zida Ruiz de Azua Celia Salamanca Sonia Sánchez Víctor Manuel Sánchez-Montagut César Sotomayor Alejandro Suárez Benjumea Javier Toral 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:2
Peripheral arterial disease, type 2 diabetes and postprandial lipidaemia: Is there a link?显示文摘Peripheral arterial disease, manifested as intermittent claudication or critical ischaemia, or identified by an ankle/brachial index < 0.9, is present in at least one in every four patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Several reasons exist for peripheral arterial disease indiabetes. In addition to hyperglycaemia, smoking and hypertension, the dyslipidaemia that accompanies type2 diabetes and is characterised by increased triglyceride levels and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations also seems to contribute to this association. Recent years have witnessed an increased interest in postprandial lipidaemia, as a result of various prospective studies showing that non-fasting triglycerides predict the onset of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease better than fasting measurements do. Additionally, the use of certain specific postprandial particle markers, such as apolipoprotein B-48, makes it easier and more simple to approach the postprandial phenomenon. Despite this, only a few studies have evaluated the role of postprandial triglycerides in the development of peripheral arterial disease and type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this review is to examine the epidemiology and risk factors of peripheral arterial disease in type 2 diabetes, focusing on the role of postprandial triglycerides and particles.Pedro Valdivielso José Ramírez-Bollero Carmen Pérez-López 2014World Journal of Diabetes2014,5,5:2
Potential of video games for the promotion of neuroadaptation to multifocal intraocular lenses: a narrative review显示文摘Multifocal intraocular lenses(IOLs) are currently usually implanted for the treatment of cataracts because they have been proved to be superior to monofocal IOLs with respect to spectacle independence. In turn, they are associated with a higher prevalence of dysphotopsia symptoms that is one of the most common causes of patient dissatisfaction. Neuroadaptation seems to play a major role in the optimal adaptation to multifocal IOLs. In this context, the development of strategies that facilitate the neuroadaptation process to multifocality might be an effective strategy to reduce patients' dissatisfaction. Video games have been proved to be effective for the improvement of visual acuity and for the promotion of neuroplasticity in elderly subjects and other populations with cortical-related visual impairment. This narrative review highlights the physiological potential of video games as a perceptual strategy to improve visual acuity and promote neuroplasticity in patients using multifocalIOLs, although research is still needed to confirm these benefits in this specific population, with only one comparative study to this date providing evidence of them.Maria Begona Coco-Martin Pedro LValenzuela Miguel JMaldonado-López Alejandro Santos-Lozano Ainhoa Molina-Martin David P Pinero 2019International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2019,12,11:2
Interchangeability of corneal curvature and asphericity measurements provided by three different devices显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the interchangeability of keratometric and asphericity measurements provided by three measurement systems based on different optical principles.METHODS: A total of 40 eyes of 40 patients with a mean age of 34.1 y were included. In all cases, a corneal curvature analysis was performed with IOL-Master(IOLM), iDesign 2(ID2), and Sirius systems(SIR). Differences between instruments for flattest(K1) and steepest(K2) keratometric readings, as well as for magnitude and axis of corneal astigmatism were analyzed. Likewise, differences in asphericity(Q) between SIR and ID2 were also evaluated. RESULTS: Mean differences between devices for K1 were 0.20±0.21(P<0.001),-0.12±0.36(P=0.046) and-0.32±0.36 D(P<0.001) for the comparisons IOLM-SIR, IOLM-ID2 and SIR-ID2, respectively. The ranges of agreement for these comparisons between instruments were 0.41, 0.70, and 0.70 D. For K2, mean differences were 0.31±0.33(P<0.001),-0.08±0.43(P=0.265) and-0.39±0.38 D(P<0.001), with ranges of agreement of 0.65, 0.84, and 0.74 D. Concerning magnitude of astigmatism, ranges of agreement were in the limit of clinical relevance(0.49 D, P=0.011; 0.55 D, P=0.386; 0.43 D, P=0.05). In contrast, ranges of agreement were clinically relevant for astigmatic axis(26.68o, 33.83o and 18.37o, P≥0.121) and for Q between SIR and ID2(0.16, P<0.001). CONCLUSION: The keratometric corneal power, astigmatic axis and asphericity measurements provideby the three systems evaluated cannot be considered as interchangeable, whereas measurements of corneal astigmatism obtained with SIR and ID2 can be considered as interchangeable for clinical purposes.David P.Pinero Roberto Soto-Negro Pedro Ruiz-Fortes Rafael J Pérez-Cambrodí Hideki Fukumitsu 2019International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2019,12,3:2
