| 1 | 海岸湿地在飓风防护中的价值显示文摘海岸湿地可以减少飓风对沿海群落的破坏作用。把1980年以来美国34次主要飓风在其袭击区所造成的单位国民生产总值损失的自然对数值作为因变量,风速和飓风袭击区湿地面积的自然对数值作为自变量,回归模型显示两者之间的差异极显著,说明了其相对损失的差别的60%。在上述模型中,每减少1 hm^2的湿地面积,来自特定风暴造成的风暴损害将平均增加33 000美元的损失(中值5000美元)。利用这个关系,把各年度不同强度飓风发生的概率考虑在内,我们以1km×1km为像素,以州为单元将湿地的年度价值绘制成图,湿地年度价值的变化范围为250~51 000美元/hm^2·a,平均价值为8240美元/hm^2·a(中值3230美元/hm^2·a),这显著高于以前估算的湿地价值。据估算,美国的海岸湿地目前能够提供的保护作用相当于232亿美元/a。在风暴防护中,海岸湿地是一种有价值的、能够自我维持的'水平堤防',并且能够提供垂直堤防所不能提供的许多其他的生态系统功能。对于人类社会来说,对沿海湿地的修复与维护是一种极其划算的战略性投资。 | Robert Costanza Octavio Pérez-Maqueo M. | 2 | Endoscopic submucosal dissection in dogs in a World Gastroenterology Organisation training center显示文摘AIM: To evaluate if canine models are appropriate for teaching endoscopy fellows the techniques of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). METHODS: ESD was performed in 10 canine models under general anesthesia, on artificial lesions of the esophagus or stomach marked with coagulation points. After ESD, each canine model was euthanized and surgical resection of the esophagus or stomach was carried out according to 'The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique, Russel and Burch'. The ESD specimens were fixed with needles on cork submerged in a formol solution with the esophagus or stomach, and delivered to the pathology department to be analyzed. RESULTS: ESD was completed without complications using the Hook-knife in five esophageal areas, with a procedural duration of 124 ± 19 min, a length of 27.4 ± 2.6 mm and a width of 21 ± 2.4 mm. ESD was also completed without complications using the IT-knife2 in five gastric areas, with a procedural duration of 92.6 ± 19 min, a length of 32 ± 2.5 mm and a width of 18 ± 3.7 mm. | 3 | The transcription factor ZEB1 promotes chemoresistance in prostate cancer cell lines显示文摘One of the factors promoting tumoral progress is the abnormal activation of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)program which has been associated with chemoresistance in tumoral cells.The transcription factor zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1(ZEB1),a key EMT activator,has recently been related to docetaxel resistance,the main chemotherapeutic used in advanced prostate cancer treatment.The mechanisms involved in this protective effect are still unclear.In a previous work,we demonstrated that ZEB1 expression induced an EMT-like phenotype in prostate cancer cell lines.In this work,we used prostate cancer cell lines 22Rvl and DU145 to study the effect of ZEB1 modulation on docetaxel resistance and its possible mechanisms.The results showed that ZEB1 overexpression conferred to 22Rvl cell resistance to docetaxel while its silencing made DU145 cells more sensitive to it.Analysis of resistance markers showed no presenee of ATP-binding cassette subfamily B member 1(MDR1)and no changes in breast cancer resistance protein(BCRP)or ATP-binding cassette subfamily C member 10(MRP7).However,a correlation between ZEB1,multidrug resistance-associated protein 1(MRP1),and ATP-binding cassette subfamily C member 4(MRP4)expression was observed.MRP4 inhibition,using MK571,resensitized cells with ZEB1 overexpression to docetaxel treatment.In addition,modulation of ZEB1 and subsequent change in MRP4 expression correlated with a lower apoptotic response to docetaxel,characterized by lower B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl2),high BCL2-associated X protein(Bax),and high active caspase 3 expression.The response to docetaxel in our model seems to be mediated mainly by activation of the apoptotic death program.Our results showed that modulation of MRP4 could be a mediator of ZEBl-related resistance to docetaxel in prostate cancer,making it a possible marker for chemotherapy response in patients who do not express MDR1. | Octavio Orellana-Serradell Daniela Herrera Enrique A Castellon Hector R Contreras | 2019 | Asian Journal of Andrology2019，21，5： | 5 |

| 5 | Protein tolerance to standard and high protein meals in patients with liver cirrhosis显示文摘AIM To investigate the plasma amino acid response and tolerance to normal or high protein meals in patients with cirrhosis.METHODS The plasma amino acid response to a 20 g mixed protein meal was compared in 8 biopsy-proven compensated cirrhotic patients and 6 healthy subjects.In addition the response to a high protein meal(1 g/kg body weight) was studied in 6 decompensated biopsy-proven cirrhotics in order to evaluate their protein tolerance and the likelihood of developing hepatic encephalopathy(HE) following a porto-caval shunt procedure.To test for covert HE,the 'number connection test'(NCT) was done on all patients,and an electroencephalogram was recorded in patients considered to be at Child-Pugh C stage.RESULTS The changes in plasma amino acids after a 20 g protein meal were similar in healthy subjects and in cirrhotics except for a significantly greater increase(P < 0.05) in isoleucine,leucine and tyrosine concentrations in the cirrhotics.The baseline branched chain amino acids/aromatic amino acids(BCAA/AAA) ratio was higher in the healthy persons and remained stable-but it decreased significantly after the meal in the cirrhotic group.After the high protein meal there was a marked increase in the levels of most amino acids,but only small changes occurred in the levels of taurine,citrulline,cysteine andhistidine.The BCAA/AAA ratio was significantly higher 180 and 240 min after the meal.Slightly elevated basal plasma ammonia levels showed no particular pattern.Overt HE was not observed in any patients.CONCLUSION Patients with stable liver disease tolerate natural mixed meals with a standard protein content.The response to a high protein meal in decompensated cirrhotics suggests accumulation of some amino acids but it did not precipitate HE.These results support current nutritional guidelines that recommend a protein intake of 1.2-1.5 g/kg body weight/day for patients with cirrhosis. | Octavio Campollo Dirk Sprengers Gitte Dam Hendrik Vilstrup Neil McIntyre | 2017 | World Journal of Hepatology2017，9，14： | 3 |
