1Sleep and Cognitive Abnormalities in Acute Minor Thalamic Infarction显示文摘In order to characterize sleep and the cognitive patterns in patients with acute minor thalamic infarction(AMTI), we enrolled 27 patients with AMTI and 12 matched healthy individuals. Questionnaires about sleep and cognition as well as polysomnography(PSG) were performed on days 14 and 90 post-stroke. Compared to healthy controls, in patients with AMTI, hyposomnia was more prevalent; sleep architecture was disrupted as indicated by decreased sleep efficiency, increased sleep latency, and decreased non-rapid eye movement sleep stages 2 and 3;more sleep-related breathing disorders occurred; and cognitive functions were worse, especially memory. While sleep apnea and long-delay memory recovered to a large extent in the patients, other sleep and cognitive function deficit often persisted. Patients with AMTI are at an increased risk for hyposomnia, sleep structure disturbance,sleep apnea, and memory deficits. 2Liproxstatin-1 is an effective inhibitor of oligodendrocyte ferroptosis induced by inhibition of glutathione peroxidase 4显示文摘Our previous studies showed that ferroptosis plays an important role in the acute and subacute stages of spinal cord injury.High intracellular iron levels and low glutathione levels make oligodendrocytes vulnerable to cell death after central nervous system trauma.In this study,we established an oligodendrocyte(OLN-93 cell line)model of ferroptosis induced by RSL-3,an inhibitor of glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4).RSL-3 significantly increased intracellular concentrations of reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde.RSL-3 also inhibited the main antiferroptosis pathway,i.e.,SLC7A11/glutathione/glutathione peroxidase 4(xCT/GSH/GPX4),and downregulated acyl-coenzyme A synthetase long chain family member 4.Furthermore,we evaluated the ability of several compounds to rescue oligodendrocytes from ferroptosis.Liproxstatin-1 was more potent than edaravone or deferoxamine.Liproxstatin-1 not only inhibited mitochondrial lipid peroxidation,but also restored the expression of GSH,GPX4 and ferroptosis suppressor protein 1.These findings suggest that GPX4 inhibition induces ferroptosis in oligodendrocytes,and that liproxstatin-1 is a potent inhibitor of ferroptosis.Therefore,liproxstatin-1 may be a promising drug for the treatment of central nervous system diseases.Bao-You Fan Yi-Lin Pang Wen-Xiang Li Chen-Xi Zhao Yan Zhang Xu Wang Guang-Zhi Ning Xiao-Hong Kong Chang Liu Xue Yao Shi-Qing Feng 2021Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,3:19
3Fault Diagnosis Approach of Local Ventilation System in Coal Mines Based on Multidisciplinary Technology显示文摘In order to reduce the probability of fault occurrence of local ventilation system in coal mine and prevent gas from exceeding the standard limit, an approach incorporating the reliability analysis, rough set theory, genetic algorithm (GA), and intelligent decision support system (IDSS) was used to establish and develop a fault diagnosis system of local ventilation in coal mine. Fault tree model was established and its reliability analysis was performed. The algorithms and software of key fault symptom and fault diagnosis rule acquiring were also analyzed and developed. Finally, a prototype system was developed and demonstrated by a mine instance. 5Growth and Common Prosperity in China显示文摘This paper introduces a decomposition method that quantifies the contributions to common prosperity of labor market performance and social policies and extends the idea of shared prosperity to a new measure of inequity in opportunities.The resulting common prosperity indices and opportunity equality indices are then applied to five waves of the Chinese Household Income Project data from 1988 to 2018.This paper shows that the labor market performance and social policies have been improving over the last 30 years and have helped China move towards common prosperity for everyone.The indices developed in this paper allow us to quantify the extent of shared prosperity that a country has achieved and to carry out empirical studies on which policy is working and which is not.It can also help us identify the fundamental causes of inequality and aid us in achieving equality in opportunity among all members of society.Nanak Kahwani Xiaobing Wang Ning Xue Peng Zhan 2022China & World Economy2022,30,1:13

9Mitosin/CENP-F is a conserved kinetochore protein subjected to cyto plasmic dynein-mediated poleward transport显示文摘Mitosin/CENP-F is a human nuclear protein transiently associated with the outer kinetochore plate in M phase and is involved in M phase progression. LEK1 and CMF1, which are its murine and chicken orthologs, however, are implicated in muscle differentiation and reportedly not distributed at kinetochores.We therefore conducted several assays to clarify this issue. The typical centromere staining patterns were observed in mitotic cells from both human primary culture and murine, canine, and mink cell lines. A C-terminal portion of LEK1 also conferred centromere localization. Our analysis further suggests conserved kinetochore localization of mammalian mitosin orthologs. Moreover, mitosin was associated preferentially with kinetochores of unaligned chromosomes. It was also constantly transported from kinetochores to spindle poles by cytoplasmic dynein. These properties resemble those of other kinetochore proteins important for the spindle checkpoint, thus implying a role of mitosin in this checkpoint. 10Association Between Serum Uric Acid and Prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosed using HbA1c Criteria Among Chinese Adults in Qingdao,China显示文摘Objective To determine whether elevated serum uric acid(UA)levels are associated with type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels among Chinese adults.Methods We conducted two population-based cross-sectional studies in Qingdao in China in 2006 and 2009.A total of 6894(39.4% men)subjects aged 35-74 years were included in the data analysis.Newly diagnosed diabetes was defined as Hb A1 c level of ≥6.5%,and prediabetes was classified as Hb A1 c level between 5.7% and 6.4% according to the International Diabetes Federation criteria.Multivariate logistic regression was employed to assess the association between UA and prevalence of type 2 diabetes defined using Glycated hemoglobin A1c(Hb A1 c levels.Results Subjects with prediabetes had higher UA levels than those with normal glucose tolerance,newly diagnosed diabetes,and known diabetes,with corresponding values of 325.1(82.5)μmol/L,310.9(84.2)μmol/L,291.3(81.7)μmol/L,305.2(83.6)μmol/L,respectively(P<0.001 for all comparisons).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that UA was a possible predictor for the prevalence of type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels,and the second quartile of UA levels had a higher odds ratio(OR:4.088;95% CI:2.900-5.765)for Hb A1 c than the other quartiles after adjusting for age,body mass index,sex,marital status,education,income,alcohol consumption,smoking,and cardiometabolic parameters.Conclusion Serum UA is significantly associated with type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels,independent of other cardiometabolic parameters.XUE Bai TAN Ji Bin NING Feng SUN Jian Ping ZHANG Ke Yi LIU Li WANG Shao Jie ZHANG Dong Feng QIAO Qing PANG Zeng Chang 2015Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2015,28,12:9
11Neuroprotective effect of deferoxamine on erastin-induced ferroptosis in primary cortical neurons显示文摘The iron chelator deferoxamine has been shown to inhibit ferroptosis in spinal cord injury.However,it is unclear whether deferoxamine directly protects neurons from ferroptotic cell death.By comparing the survival rate and morphology of primary neurons and SH-SY5Y cells exposed to erastin,it was found that these cell types respond differentially to the duration and concentration of erastin treatment.Therefore,we studied the mechanisms of ferroptosis using primary cortical neurons from E16 mouse embryos.After treatment with 50μM erastin for 48 hours,reactive oxygen species levels increased,and the expression of the cystine/glutamate antiporter system light chain and glutathione peroxidase 4 decreased.Pretreatment with deferoxamine for 12 hours inhibited these changes,reduced cell death,and ameliorated cellular morphology.Pretreatment with the apoptosis inhibitor Z-DEVD-FMK or the necroptosis inhibitor necrostain-1 for 12 hours did not protect against erastin-induced ferroptosis.Only deferoxamine protected the primary cortical neurons from ferroptosis induced by erastin,confirming the specificity of the in vitro ferroptosis model.This study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee at the Institute of Radiation Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences,China(approval No.DWLL-20180913)on September 13,2018.Yan Zhang Bao-You Fan Yi-Lin Pang Wen-Yuan Shen Xu Wang Chen-Xi Zhao Wen-Xiang Li Chang Liu Xiao-Hong Kong Guang-Zhi Ning Shi-Qing Feng Xue Yao 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,8:9

13Application of video-assisted thoracic surgery in the standard operation for thoracic tumors显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the short-term outcomes of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for thoracic tumors. Methods: The data of 1,790 consecutive patients were retrospectively reviewed. These patients underwent VATS pulmonary resections, VATS esophagectomies, and VATS resections of mediastinal tumors or biopsies at the Cancer Institute & Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences between January 2009 and January 2012. Results: There were 33 patients converted to open thoracotomy (OT, 1.84%). The overall morbidity and mortality rate was 2.79% (50/1790) and 0.28% (5/1790), respectively. The overall hospitalization and chest tube duration were shorter in the VATS lobectomy group (n=949) than in the open thoracotomy (OT) lobectomy group (n=753). There were no significant differences in morbidity rate, mortality rate and operation time between the two groups. In the esophageal cancer patients, no significant difference was found in the number of nodal dissection, chest tube duration, morbidity rate, mortality rate, and hospital length of stay between the VATS esophagectomy group (n=81) and open esophagectomy group (n=81). However, the operation time was longer in the VATS esophagectomy group. In the thymoma patients, there was no significant difference in the chest tube duration, morbidity rate, mortality rate, and hospital length of stay between the VATS thymectomy group (n=41) and open thymectomy group (n=41). However, the operation time was longer in the VATS group. The median tumor size in the VATS thymectomy group was comparable with that in the OT group. Conclusions: In early-stage (I/II) non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent lobectomies, VATS is comparable with the OT approach with similar short-term outcomes. In patients with resectable esophageal cancer, VATS esophagectomy is comparable with OT esophagectomy with similar morbidity and mortality. VATS thymectomy for Masaoka stage I and II thymoma is feasible and safe, and tumor size is not contraindicated. 14Efficacy of Lubeikangru formulation in mice with hyperplasia of the mammary glands induced by estrogen and progesterone显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the protective effects of Lubeikangru formula(LF) on hyperplasia of the mammary glands(HMG) induced by estrogen and progesterone in mice.METHODS: Female mice were divided randomly into five groups: normal, model, tamoxifen(3 mg/kg),Rupixiao(900 mg/kg) and LF(900 mg/kg). All mice except those in the normal group were treated sequentially with estradiol and progesterone to induce HMG. From the tenth day of induction, mice in normal and model groups received distilled water and mice in the other groups were given the corresponding drugs by gavage, once a day, for 30 d.At the end of treatment, the mammary glands, ovaries, hypothalamus, and serum was collected for whole-mount and hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISAs), or western blotting.RESULTS: Whole-mount and HE staining of mammary glands showed that LF rescued(at least in part) the hyperplasic morphology of the mammary glands, and the number of branch points decreased after LF treatment(P < 0.05). ELISAs revealed that levels of estrogen and progesterone were decreased following LF treatment, whereas levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone were increased in serum and tissues. Western blotting confirmed that LF treatment led to a reduction in expression of phosphorylated(p)-Erk, p-p38 and p-c-Jun N-terminal kinase. 15Epidemiological survey of echinococcosis in Tibet Autonomous Region of China显示文摘Background:The echinococcosis is prevalent in 10 provinces/autonomous region in western and northern China.Epidemiological survey of echinococcosis in China in 2012 showed the average prevalence of four counties in Tibet Autonomous Region(TAR)is 4.23%,much higher than the average prevalence in China(0.24%).It is important to understand the transmission risks and the prevalence of echinococcosis in human and animals in TAR.Methods:A stratified and proportionate sampling method was used to select samples in TAR.The selected residents were examined by B-ultrasonography diagnostic,and the faeces of dogs were tested for the canine coproantigen against Echinococcus spp.using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.The internal organs of slaughtered domestic animals were examined by visual examination and palpation.The awareness of the prevention and control of echinococcosis among of residents and students was investigated using questionnaire.All data were inputted using double entry in the Epi Info database,with error correction by double-entry comparison,the statistical analysis of all data was processed using SPSS 21.0,and the map was mapped using ArcGIS 10.1,the data was tested by Chi-square test and Cochran-Armitage trend test.Results:A total of 80384 people,7564 faeces of dogs,and 2103 internal organs of slaughtered domestic animals were examined.The prevalence of echinococcosis in humans in TAR was 1.66%,the positive rate in females(1.92%)was significantly higher than that in males(1.41%),(X2=30.31,P<0.01),the positive rate of echinococcosis was positively associated with age(X2trend=-423.95,P<0.01),and the occupational populations with high positive rates of echinococcosis were herdsmen(3.66%)and monks(3.48%).The average positive rate of Echinococcus coproantigen in TAR was 7.30%.The positive rate of echinococcosis in livestock for the whole region was 11.84%.The average awareness rate of echinococcosis across the region was 33.39%.Conclusions:A high prevalence of echinococcosis is found across the TAR,representing a very serious concern to human health.Efforts should be made to develop an action plan for echinococcosis prevention and control as soon as possible,so as to control the endemic of echinococcosis and reduce the medical burden on the population.Bin Li Gongsang Quzhen Chui-Zhao Xue Shuai Han Wei-Qi Chen Xin-Liu Yan Zhong-Jie Li MLinda Quick Yong Huang Ning Xiao Ying Wang Li-Ying Wang Gesang Zuoga Bianba Gangzhu Bing-Cheng Ma Gasong Xiao-Gang Wei Niji Can-Jun Zheng Wei-Ping Wu Xiao-Nong Zhou 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,2:8
16Differential gene expression profiling of gastric intraepithelial neoplasia and early-stage adenocarcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate the differentiated whole genome expression profiling of gastric high-and low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia and early-stage adenocarcinoma.METHODS:Gastric specimens from an upper magnifying chromoendoscopic targeted biopsy were collected from March 2010 to May 2013.Whole genome expression profiling was performed on 19 low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(LGIN),20 high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(HGIN),19 early-stage adenocarcinoma(EGC),and 19 chronic gastritis tissue samples using Agilent 4×44K Whole Human Genome microarrays.Differentially expressed genes between different types of lesions were identified using an unpaired t-test and corrected with the Benjamini and Hochberg false discovery rate algorithm.A gene ontology(GO)enrichment analysis was performed using the Gene Spring software GX 12.6.The differentially expressed gene was verified using a real-time TaqManPCR assay with independent tissue samples,including 26 LGIN,15 HGIN,14 EGC,and 20 chronic gastritis.The expression of G0S2 were further validated by immunohistochemical staining(IHC)in 24 LGIN,40 HGIN,30 EGC and 61 chronic gastritis specimens.RESULTS:The gene expression patterns of LGIN and HGIN tissues were distinct.There were 2521 significantly differentially expressed transcripts in HGIN,with951 upregulated and 1570 downregulated.A GO enrichment analysis demonstrated that the most striking overexpressed transcripts in HGIN compared with LGIN were in the category of metabolism,defense response,and nuclear factorκB(NF-κB)cascade.While the vast majority of transcripts had barely altered expression in HGIN and EGC tissues,only 38 transcripts were upregulated in EGC.A GO enrichment analysis revealed that the alterations of the immune response were most prominent in the progression from HGIN to EGC.It is worth noting that,compared with LGIN,289 transcriptswere expressed at higher levels both in HGIN and EGC.A characteristic gene,G0/G1 switch 2(G0S2)was one of the 289 transcripts and related to metabolism,the immune response,and the NF-κB cascade,and its expression was validated in independent samples through real-time TaqManPCR and immunohistochemical staining.In real-time PCR analysis,the expression of G0S2 was elevated both in HGIN and EGC compared with that in LGIN(P<0.01 and P<0.001,respectively).In IHC analysis,G0S2 immunoreactivity was detected in the cytoplasmic of neoplastic cells,but was undetectable in chronic gastritis cells.The G0S2 expression in HGIN was higher than that of LGIN(P=0.012,χ2=6.28)and EGC(P=0.008,χ2=6.94).CONCLUSION:A clear biological distinction between gastric high-and low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia was identified,and provides molecular evidence for clinical application.Xue Xu Lin Feng Yu Liu Wei-Xun Zhou Ying-Cai Ma Gui-Jun Fei Ning An Yuan Li Xi Wu Fang Yao Shu-Jun Cheng Xing-Hua Lu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:8

18Deformation features and failure mechanism of steep rock slope under the mining activities and rainfall显示文摘Underground mining activities and rainfall have potential important influence on the initiation and reactivation of the slope deformations,especially on the steep rock slope. In this paper,using the discrete element method(UDEC),numerical simulation was carried out to investigate deformation features and the failure mechanism of the steep rock slope under mining activities and rainfall. A steep rock slope numerical model was created based on a case study at the Wulong area in Chongqing city,China. Mechanical parameters of the rock mass have been determined by situ measurements and laboratory measurements. A preliminary site monitoring system has been realized,aiming at getting structure movements and stresses of unstablerock masses at the most significant discontinuities. 19Theoretical and numerical research of wire array Z-pinch and dynamic hohlraum at IAPCM显示文摘Dense Z-pinch plasmas are powerful and energy-efficient laboratory sources of X-rays,and show the possibility to drive inertial confinement fusion(ICF).Recent advances in wire-array Z-pinch and Z-pinch dynamic hohlraum(ZPDH)researches at the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics are presented in this paper.Models are setup to study different physical processes.A full circuit model(FCM)was used to study the coupling between Z-pinch implosion and generator discharge.A mass injection model with azimuthal modulation was setup to simulate the wire-array plasma initiation,and the two-dimensional MHD code MARED was developed to investigate the Z-pinch implosion,MRT instability,stagnation and radiation.Implosions of nested and quasi-spherical wire arrays were also investigated theoretically and numerically.Key processes of ZPDH,such as the arrayefoam interaction,formation of the hohlraum radiation,as well as the following capsule ablation and implosion,were analyzed with different radiation magneto-hydrodynamics(RMHD)codes.An integrated 2D RMHD simulation of dynamic hohlraum driven capsule implosion provides us the physical insights of wire-array plasma acceleration,shock generation and propagation,hohlraum formation,radiation ablation,and fuel compression.Ning Ding Yang Zhang Delong Xiao Jiming Wu Zihuan Dai Li Yin Zhiming Gao Shunkai Sun Chuang Xue Cheng Ning Xiaojian Shu Jianguo Wang 2016Matter and Radiation at Extremes2016,1,3:7
