1Eurycoma Longifolia as a potential adoptogen of male sexual health: a systematic review on clinical studies显示文摘Eurycoma longifolia(EL) has been well recognized as a booster of male sexual health. Over the past few decades, numerous in vivo animal studies and human clinical trials have been conducted across the globe to explore the promising role of EL in managing various male sexual disorders, which include erectile dysfunction, male infertility, low libido, and downregulated testosterone levels. The aim of the present review is to analyze and summarize the literature on human clinical trials which revealed the clinical significance and therapeutic feasibility of EL in improving male sexual health. This systematic review is focused on the following databases: Medline, Wiley Online Library, Bio Med Central, Hindawi, Web of Knowledge, Pub Med Central and Google Scholar, using search terms such as 'Eurycoma longifolia', 'EL', 'Tongkat Ali', 'male sexual health', 'sexual infertility', 'erectile dysfunction', 'male libido', and 'testosterone levels'. Notably, only human clinical studies published between 2000 and 2014 were selected and thoroughly reviewed for relevant citations. Out of 150 articles, 11 met the inclusion criteria. The majority of articles included were randomized placebo-controlled trials, multiple cohort studies, or pilot trials. All these studies demonstrated considerable effects of EL on male sexual health disorders. Among them, 7 studies revealed remarkable association between the use of EL and the efficacy in the treatment of male sexual disorders, and remaining 4 studies failed to demonstrate sufficient effects on male sexual health. In summary, there is convincing evidence for the prominence of EL in improving the male sexual health. 2Exploring dynamic biomedical algorithm of Eurycoma longifolia Jack and its bioactive phytochemicals: A review of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic implications and future prospects显示文摘Eurycoma longifolia Jack(E.longifolia) is a well-recognized traditional herbal medicine that offers a wide dynamic range of biomedical applications including anti-osteoporotic, anticancer, anti-proliferative, anti-malarial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, aphrodisiac, antiinflammatory, anxiolytic, anti-diabetic, anti-rheumatism and anti-ulcer properties.This review aims to overview the pharmacokinetic and a pharmacodynamic algorithm of E.longifolia and its bioactive components.Analysis of pharmacokinetic profile revealed that E.longifolia exhibit higher bioavailability, high volume of distribution, slow elimination rate, and does not show inhibitory effects on cytochrome P450 isoenzymes.E.longifolia has been used, alone or in combination with other pharmacological agents, in the form of crude extracts, standard extracts, or decoctions of different plant parts(i.e., herbs, shrubs, stem, leaves, and roots) for the treatment of various ailments in animals and humans.Among various bioactive constituents, eurycomanone has been found to be the most remarkable, super-stable, versatile, and most potent phytochemical(isolated or extracted from root extracts) against various types of animals and human diseases.Based on its well-established pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles, we suggested that E.longifolia can be a well-accepted complementary and alternative medicine for the treatment of different types of human ailments.Hnin Ei Thu Zahid Hussain Isa Naina Mohamed Ahmad Nazrun Shuid 2018Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2018,11,2:2

7Functional analysis and screening small molecules to RpfF protein in Xanthomonas oryzae involved in rice bacterial blight disease显示文摘Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae(Xoo) is an important rice pathogen.This is a vascular pathogen entering the plant via the hydathodes causing rice bacterial blight.It has been known that most regulation of pathogenicity factor F(RpfF) genes in Xanthomonas regulates virulence in response to the diffusible signal factor(DSF).The RpfF recognized as an attractive drug target in bacterial rice blight disease.In this study,we performed the gene-gene interaction of RpfF and pathway functional analysis.3 D structure of RpfF protein was predicted using a homology modelling tool Swiss-Model and refined by molecular dynamics(MD) simulation.The refined model protein was predicted structural assessment using various tools such as PROCHECK,ERRAT,and VERIFY-3 D.We have collected 2 500 rifampicin analogues from Zinc Database by virtual screening.The screened compounds were docked into the active site of the RpfF protein using AutoDock Vina in PyRx Virtual Screening Tool.Furthermore,docking result and in silico ADMET analysis described that the compounds ZINC03056414,ZINC03205310,ZINC08673779,ZINC09100848,ZINC09729566,ZINC11415953,ZINC12810788,ZINC24989313,ZINC27441787 and ZINC32739565 have best binding energies and less toxicity than reference compound.This study revealed that the active site residues such as HIS-118,HIS-147,THR-148,ARG-179,ASP-207,ARG-240 and THR-244 are key roles in the pathogenicity.It could be beneficial in the design of small molecule therapeutics or the treatment of rice bacterial blight disease.Mundla Srilatha Naina Patyal Madhu Sudhana Saddala 2020Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,3:1

14Identification of Persister Drug Combination Clinafloxacin+Cefuroxime+Gentamicin That Eradicates Persistent Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infection in a Murine Cystic Fibrosis Model显示文摘Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause persistent infections,such as biofilm infections,in cystic fibrosis patients,which are difficult to cure due to non-growing persister bacteria that are not effectively killed by the current treatments.While antibiotic activity against growing P.aeruginosa is well documented,their activity against non-growing stationary phase cultures is less clear.Here,we evaluated six major classes of antibiotics,including cell wall and cell membrane inhibitors,protein synthesis inhibitors,DNA synthesis inhibitors,RNA synthesis inhibitors,sulfa drugs and nitrofurantoin,for their activity against growing and non-growing P.aeruginosa.We foundthat cell wall and cell membrane inhibitors(cefuroxime and colistin),DNA synthesis inhibitors(clinafloxacin)and sulfa drugs(sulfamethoxazole)had good activity against stationary-phase bacteria,while protein synthesis inhibitors(gentamicin),RNA synthesis inhibitor(rifampin)and nitrofurantoin showed relatively poor activity.Clinafloxacin was the only drug able to completely eradicate stationary-phase bacteria within four days.The cefuroxime+gentamicin+clinafloxacin combination was able to kill all bacteria from a biofilm within two days,whereas the clinically used drug combination cefuroxime+gentamicin/colistin only partially killed the biofilmbacteria.In amurine persistent cystic fibrosis lung infectionmodel,only the cefuroxime+gentamicin+clinafloxacin drug combination eradicated all bacteria from the lungs,whereas clinafloxacin alone,cefuroxime+clinafloxacin or the currently recommended drug combination cefuroxime+gentamicin failed to do so.The complete eradication is a property of the clinafloxacin combination,as the otherwise identical levofloxacin combination did not clear the bacterial loads from the lungs.Our findings offer new therapeutic options for more effective treatment of persistent P.aeruginosa infections,with possible implications for treating other persistent infections.Yuting Yuan Rebecca Yee Naina Gour Xinzhong Dong Jie Feng Wanliang Shi Ying Zhang 2023Infectious Microbes & Diseases2023,5,1:1
