4Moving particle semi-implicit simulation on the molten Wood's metal downward relocation process显示文摘In the case of a severe accident involving nuclear reactors,an important aspect that should be considered is the leakage of molten material from the inside of the reactor into the environment.These molten materials damage other reactor components,such as electrical tubes,grid plates and core catchers.In this study,the moving particle semi-implicit(MPS)method is adopted and improved to analyze the twodimensional downward relocation process of molten Wood’s metal as a representation of molten material in a nuclear reactor.The molten material impinges the Wood’s metal plate(WMP),which is mounted on a rigid dummy stainless steel in a cylindrical test vessel.The breaching process occurs because of heat transfer between the molten material and WMP.The formed breach areas were in good agreement with the experimental results,and they showed that the molten Wood’s metal spread above the WMP.The solid WMP fraction decreased with time until it reached the termination time of the simulation.The present results show that the MPS method can be applied to simulate and analyze the downward relocation process of molten material in the grid plate of a nuclear reactor.Anni Nuril Hidayati Abdul Waris Asril Pramutadi Andi Mustari Dwi Irwanto Nur Asiah Aprianti 2021Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,8:1

8Tropical forest canopies and their relationships with climate and disturbance: results from a global dataset of consistent field-based measurements显示文摘Background: Canopy structure, defined by leaf area index(LAI), fractional vegetation cover(FCover) and fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation(f APAR), regulates a wide range of forest functions and ecosystem services. Spatially consistent field-measurements of canopy structure are however lacking, particularly for the tropics.Methods: Here, we introduce the Global LAI database: a global dataset of field-based canopy structure measurements spanning tropical forests in four continents(Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas). We use these measurements to test for climate dependencies within and across continents, and to test for the potential of anthropogenic disturbance and forest protection to modulate those dependences.Results: Using data collected from 887 tropical forest plots, we show that maximum water deficit, defined across the most arid months of the year, is an important predictor of canopy structure, with all three canopy attributes declining significantly with increasing water deficit. Canopy attributes also increase with minimum temperature, and with the protection of forests according to both active(within protected areas) and passive measures(through topography). Once protection and continent effects are accounted for, other anthropogenic measures(e.g. human population) do not improve the model.Conclusions: We conclude that canopy structure in the tropics is primarily a consequence of forest adaptation to the maximum water deficits historically experienced within a given region. 16Attosecond Delays of High-Harmonic Emissions from Hydrogen Isotopes Measured by XUV Interferometer显示文摘High-harmonic spectroscopy can access structural and dynamical information on molecular systems encoded in the amplitude and phase of high-harmonic generation(HHG)signals.However,measurement of the harmonic phase is a daunting task.Here,we present a precise measurement of HHG phase difference between two isotopes of molecular hydrogen using the advanced extreme-ultraviolet(XUV)Gouy phase interferometer.The measured phase difference is about 200 mrad,corresponding to~3 attoseconds(1 as=10−18 s)time delay which is nearly independent of harmonic order.The measurements agree very well with numerical calculations of a four-dimensional time-dependent Schödinger equation.Numerical simulations also reveal the effects of molecular orientation and intramolecular two-center interference on the measured phase difference.This technique opens a new avenue for measuring the phase of harmonic emission for different atoms and molecules.Together with isomeric or isotopic comparisons,it also enables the observation of subtle effects of molecular structures and nuclear motion on electron dynamics in strong laser fields.Mumta Hena Mustary Liang Xu Wanyang Wu Nida Haram Dane E.laban Han Xu Feng He R.T.Sang Igor V.Litvinyuk 2022Ultrafast Science2022,,5:0
