| 1 | Gastric remnant twist in the immediate post-operative period following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy显示文摘Twist of stomach remnant post sleeve gastrectomy is a rare entity and difficult to diagnose pre-operatively. We are reporting a case of gastric volvulus post laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, which was managed conservatively. A 38-year-old lady with a body mass index of 54 underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Sleeve gastrectomy was performed over a 32 French bougie using Endo-GIA tri-stapler. On post-operative day 1, patient had nausea and non-bilious vomiting. An upper gastrointestinal gastrografin study on postoperative days 1 and 2 revealed collection of contrast in the fundic area of stomach with poor flow distally, and she vomited gastrograffin immediately post procedure. With the suspicion of a stricture in the mid stomach as the cause, the patient was taken back for a exploratory laparoscopy and intra-operative endoscopy. We found a twist in the gastric tube which was too tight for the endoscope to pass through. This was managed conservatively with a long stent to keep the gastric tube straight and patent. The stent was discontinued in 7 d and the patient did well. In laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy the stomach is converted into a tube and is devoid of its supports. If the staples fired are not aligned appropriately, it can predispose this stomach tube to undergo torsion along its long axis. Such a twist can be avoided by properly aligning the staples and by placing tacking sutures to the omentum and new stomach tube. | 2 | A new framework for population balance modeling of spray fluidized bed agglomeration显示文摘Previous work(Hussain et al.(2013).Chemical Engineering Science,101,35) has pointed out that the conventional,one-dimensional population balance equation for aggregation can be expanded to accurately reproduce the results of discrete simulations of spray fluidized bed agglomeration.However,some parameters had to be imported from the discrete simulation(Monte-Carlo).The present paper shows how the expanded population balance can be run without importing parameters from the Monte-Carlo simulation.The expanded population balance still reproduces the results of Monte-Carlo simulations accurately,taking into account key micro-scale phenomena(sessile droplet drying,efficiency of collisions),but with much lower computational cost.Required input parameters are just the drying time of sessile droplets(calculated in advance),and the pre-factor of an equation that correlates particle collision frequency with fluidized bed expansion.In this way,the expanded population balance is,apart from autonomous,also(nearly) predictive.Its performance is demonstrated by comparisons with both Monte-Carlo results and experimental data for various operating conditions(binder mass flow rate,gas temperature).Despite formally being a one-dimensional expression,the expanded population balance captures additional properties,such as the number of wet particles and the number of droplets in the system,which are even difficult to measure in experiments. | Mubashir Hussain Jitendra Kumar Evangelos Tsotsas | 2015 | Particuology2015，13，2： | 5 |
| 3 | Gastrointestinal sarcoidosis associated with pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis显示文摘A 39-year-old male reported fevers,weight loss,watery loose stools,and decreased visual acuity in his right eye over the prior five years.He was pancytopenic,had an elevated American council on exercise level,total bilirubin,and alkaline phosphatase.Computed tomography revealed massive hepatosplenomegaly and emphysematous lung changes.Liver biopsy showed non caseating granulomas.The patient was diagnosed with extrapulmonary sarcoidosis and was treated with prednisone.The patient symptomatically improved but 5 mo later presented with abdominal pain caused by perforation of the cecum.He underwent a cecectomy and pathology revealed pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis.This represents the first reported association between pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis and sarcoidosis.The etiology of pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis in this case was likely multifactorial and involved both effects of the corticosteroids as well as the advanced nature of the gastrointestinal sarcoidosis.Furthermore this case has the unique features of emphysematous lung changes and pancytopenia which are uncommon with sarcoidosis. | Hussein Rahim Mubashir Khan Jay Hudgins Kevin Lee Lei Du Louis Amorosa | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013，19，7： | 3 |
| 4 | Inhibition of Cdk5 increases osteoblast differentiation and bone mass and improves fracture healing显示文摘Identification of regulators of osteoblastogenesis that can be pharmacologically targeted is a major goal in combating osteoporosis,a common disease of the elderly population. Here, unbiased kinome RNAi screening in primary murine osteoblasts identified cyclin-dependent kinase 5(Cdk5) as a suppressor of osteoblast differentiation in both murine and human preosteoblastic cells. Cdk5 knockdown by si RNA, genetic deletion using the Cre-lox P system, or inhibition with the small molecule roscovitine enhanced osteoblastogenesis in vitro. Roscovitine treatment significantly enhanced bone mass by increasing osteoblastogenesis and improved fracture healing in mice. Mechanistically, downregulation of Cdk5 expression increased Erk phosphorylation, resulting in enhanced osteoblast-specific gene expression. Notably, simultaneous Cdk5 and Erk depletion abrogated the osteoblastogenesis conferred by Cdk5 depletion alone, suggesting that Cdk5 regulates osteoblast differentiation through MAPK pathway modulation. | 7 | Anthelmintic, antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity of Caltha palustris var. alba Kashmir, India显示文摘The methanolic extract obtained from the root portion of Caltha palustris var. alba was evaluated for its anthelmintic efficacy against gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep under both in vitro and in vivo conditions using worm motility inhibition(WMI) assay and fecal egg count reduction(FECR) assay, respectively. The extract was subjected to antimicrobial activity using agar-well diffusion method against different bacterial strains. In addition the extract was evaluated for cytotoxic and antioxidant activity against cultured THP-1(Leukemia), A-549(Lung), HCT-15(Colon), Cervix(HeLa) and PC-3(Prostrate) cell lines by SRB and DPPH radical scavenging assays. The extract used resulted in mean %WMI of 94.44%, as observed when the worms were put in lukewarm buffer for 30 min after exposure to different treatments. The mean mortality index of the sample was 0.95. The lethal concentration(LC50) was 0.11 mg·mL-1. Cell lines were exposed to concentration of 100 μg·mL-1 of extract for 48 h, which reduced the viability of these cell lines. | 12 | Machine Learning Based Psychotic Behaviors Prediction from Facebook Status Updates显示文摘With the advent of technological advancements and the widespread Internet connectivity during the last couple of decades,social media platforms(such as Facebook,Twitter,and Instagram)have consumed a large proportion of time in our daily lives.People tend to stay alive on their social media with recent updates,as it has become the primary source of interactionwithin social circles.Although social media platforms offer several remarkable features but are simultaneously prone to various critical vulnerabilities.Recent studies have revealed a strong correlation between the usage of social media and associated mental health issues consequently leading to depression,anxiety,suicide commitment,and mental disorder,particularly in the young adults who have excessively spent time on socialmedia which necessitates a thorough psychological analysis of all these platforms.This study aims to exploit machine learning techniques for the classification of psychotic issues based on Facebook status updates.In this paper,we start with depression detection in the first instance and then expand on analyzing six other psychotic issues(e.g.,depression,anxiety,psychopathic deviate,hypochondria,unrealistic,and hypomania)commonly found in adults due to extreme use of social media networks.To classify the psychotic issues with the user’s mental state,we have employed different Machine Learning(ML)classifiers i.e.,Random Forest(RF),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Naïve Bayes(NB),and K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN).The used ML models are trained and tested by using different combinations of features selection techniques.To observe themost suitable classifiers for psychotic issue classification,a cost-benefit function(sometimes termed as‘Suitability’)has been used which combines the accuracy of the model with its execution time.The experimental evidence argues that RF outperforms its competitor classifiers with the unigram feature set. | Mubashir Ali Anees Baqir Hafiz Husnain Raza Sherazi Asad Hussain Asma Hassan Alshehri Muhammad Ali Imran | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022，，8： | 1 |
