| 1 | Major-effect candidate genes identified in cultivated strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa Duch.)for ellagic acid deoxyhexoside and pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside biosynthesis,key polyphenolic compounds显示文摘Strawberries are rich in polyphenols which impart health benefits when metabolized by the gut microbiome,including anti-inflammatory,neuroprotective,and antiproliferative effects.In addition,polyphenolic anthocyanins contribute to the attractive color of strawberry fruits.However,the genetic basis of polyphenol biosynthesis has not been extensively studied in strawberry.In this investigation,ripe fruits from three cultivated strawberry populations were characterized for polyphenol content using HPLC-DAD-MSn and genotyped using the iStraw35k array.GWAS and QTL analyses identified genetic loci controlling polyphenol biosynthesis.QTL were identified on four chromosomes for pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside,pelargonidin-3-O-acetylglucoside,cinnamoyl glucose,and ellagic acid deoxyhexoside biosynthesis.Presence/absence of ellagic acid deoxyhexoside and pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside was found to be under the control of major gene loci on LG1X2 and LG6b,respectively,on the F.×ananassa linkage maps.Interrogation of gene predictions in the F.vesca reference genome sequence identified a single candidate gene for ellagic acid deoxyhexoside biosynthesis,while seven malonyltransferase genes were identified as candidates for pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside biosynthesis.Homologous malonyltransferase genes were identified in the F.×ananassa‘Camarosa’genome sequence but the candidate for ellagic acid deoxyhexoside biosynthesis was absent from the‘Camarosa’sequence.This study demonstrated that polyphenol biosynthesis in strawberry is,in some cases,under simple genetic control,supporting previous observations of the presence or absence of these compounds in strawberry fruits.It has also shed light on the mechanisms controlling polyphenol biosynthesis and enhanced the knowledge of these biosynthesis pathways in strawberry.The above findings will facilitate breeding for strawberries enriched in compounds with beneficial health effects. | Jahn Davik Kjersti Aaby Matteo Buti Muath Alsheikh NadaŠurbanovski Stefan Martens Dag Røen Daniel James Sargent | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 8 | Ameliorative properties of Iranian Trigonella foenum-graecum L. seeds and Punica granatum L. peel extracts in streptozotocin-induced experimental diabetic guinea pigs显示文摘Objective: To assess the ameliorative properties of Iranian Trigonella foenum-graecum L.(T. foenum-graecum) seeds and Punica granatum L.(P. granatum) peel extracts against streptozotocin-induced diabetes in male guinea pigs.Methods: Sixty guinea pigs were divided into six groups(10 guinea pigs per group).Group 1 consisted of normal animals. Groups 2 and 3 were treated with Iranian T. foenum-graecum seeds and P. granatum peel extract alone, respectively. Group 4 was treated with streptozotocin only; whereas Groups 5 and 6 receiving streptozotocin were treated with Iranian T. foenum-graecum seeds and P. granatum peel extract, respectively.All animals were treated for 30 days, and the body weight, blood and liver biochemical parameters were measured.Results: Guinea pigs exposed to streptozotocin showed an alteration in body weight gain, fasting glucose level, kidney function parameters(blood urea nitrogen and creatinine) as well as decreased serum and hepatic total protein level. In addition, it increased the cholesterol and triglyceride level, while decreasing the hepatic glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase activity, glycogen, glutathione content and hepatic catalase activity. | 11 | Depression,periodontitis,caries and missing teeth in the USA,NHANES 2009-2014显示文摘Purpose This study aimed to investigate the association between self-reported depressive symptoms and oral diseases in US adults,including periodontitis,caries,missing teeth and untreated dental caries.Design This study was designed as a secondary data analysis of a cross-sectional survey.We conducted descriptive,multivariable logistic and Poisson regression analyses on weighted data.Setting US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2009-2014 data.Participants Individuals aged≥30 years who completed a periodontal examination and depression screening(n=9799).Results 21.6%(28.9 million)of adults aged≥30 years reported depressive symptoms,with a higher prevalence among females,current smokers and participants with lower income and education status.More than half of the adults with moderate depressive symptoms had periodontal diseases,and more than one-third had teeth with untreated dental caries.After adjusting for sociodemographics,behavioural factors,having diabetes and psychotherapeutic medication use,depressive symptoms were associated with poorer oral health.Severe depressive symptoms were associated with higher odds of mild periodontitis(2.20;99%CI 1.03 to 4.66).For those with mild depressive symptoms,the mean number of missing teeth was 1.20(99%CI 1.06 to 1.37)times the average of non-symptomatic individuals;and 1.38 times(99%CI 1.15 to 1.66)among individuals with moderate depressive symptoms.Conclusions Depressive symptoms were associated with mild periodontitis and a greater number of missing teeth,while having teeth with untreated dental caries was attributed to sociodemographic factors.Awareness of oral health status among patients with depressive symptoms can inform both dental and mental health providers to develop tailored treatment and help patients achieve overall wellness. | Muath Aldosari Mohammad Helmi Erinne N Kennedy Riddhi Badamia Satomi Odani Israel Agaku Constantine Vardavas | 2020 | Family Medicine and Community Health2020,8,4: | 0 |

| 14 | Modeling Drug Concentration in Blood through Caputo-Fabrizio and Caputo Fractional Derivatives显示文摘This study focuses on the dynamics of drug concentration in the blood.In general,the concentration level of a drug in the blood is evaluated by themean of an ordinary and first-order differential equation.More precisely,it is solved through an initial value problem.We proposed a newmodeling technique for studying drug concentration in blood dynamics.This technique is based on two fractional derivatives,namely,Caputo and Caputo-Fabrizio derivatives.We first provided comprehensive and detailed proof of the existence of at least one solution to the problem;we later proved the uniqueness of the existing solution.The proof was written using the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative and some fixed-point techniques.Stability via theUlam-Hyers(UH)technique was also investigated.The application of the proposedmodel on two real data sets revealed that the Caputo derivative wasmore suitable in this study.Indeed,for the first data set,the model based on the Caputo derivative yielded a Mean Squared Error(MSE)of 0.03095 with a corresponding best value of fractional order of derivative of 1.00360.Caputo-Fabrizio-basedderivative appeared to be the second-best method for the problem,with an MSE of 0.04324 for a corresponding best fractional derivative order of 0.43532.For the second experiment,Caputo derivative-based model still performed the best as it yielded an MSE of 0.04066,whereas the classical and the Caputo-Fabrizio methods were tied with the same MSE of 0.07299.Another interesting finding was that the MSE yielded by the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative coincided with the MSE obtained from the classical approach. | Muath Awadalla Kinda Abuasbeh Yves Yannick Yameni Noupoue Mohammed S.Abdo | 2023 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2023,,6: | 0 |

| 18 | Machine learning enabled identification and real-time prediction of living plants’ stress using terahertz waves显示文摘Considering the ongoing climate transformations, the appropriate and reliable phenotyping information of plant leaves is quite significant for early detection of disease, yield improvement. In real-life digital agricultural environment, the real-time prediction and identification of living plants leaves has immensely grown in recent years. Hence, cost-effective and automated and timely detection of plans species is vital for sustainable agriculture. This paper presents a novel, non-invasive method aiming to establish a feasible, and viable technique for the precise identification and observation of altering behaviour of plants species at cellular level for four consecutive days by integrating machine learning (ML) and THz with a swissto12 materials characterization kit (MCK) in the frequency range of 0.75 to 1.1 THz. For this purpose, measurements observations data of seven various living plants leaves were determined and incorporate three different ML algorithms such as random forest (RF), support vector machine, (SVM), and K-nearest neighbour (KNN). The results demonstrated that RF exhibited higher accuracy of 98.87% followed by KNN and SVM with an accuracy of 94.64% and 89.67%, respectively, for precise detection of different leaves by observing their morphological features. In addition, RF outperformed other classifiers for determination of water-stressed leaves and having an accuracy of 99.42%.
