| 1 | Identification of Flowering Regulatory Genes in Allopolyploid Brassica juncea显示文摘Brassica juncea is an allopolyploid originating from the interspecific hybridization between Brassica rapa and Brassica nigra, which is of multiple usage as a vegetable, oilseed and condiment worldwide. Both vernalization and non-vernalization under long-day photoperiod can promote floral transition in B. juncea suggesting merged flowering pathways of its ancestors and better environmental adaptability. We identified genomewide flowering regulatory genes in B. juncea, which include 84 and 79 genes from A and B sub-genomes, respectively. Ka/Ks analysis revealed a purification effect on both photoperiod and vernalization flowering regulation pathways during evolution. Expression profile of those genes during long-day and vernalization treatments suggested Bju ACO4, Bju AFT1, Bju BFT4, Bju ASOC1 and Bju ASOC4 may be the major functional copies of B. juncea flowering regulation. Further functional studies about Bju COs showed three days delayed flowering time in Bju ACO4 or Bju BCO3 silenced plants. Increased transcription of all BjuFLCs in Bju ACO4 or Bju BCO3 silenced plants suggested interactions between photoperiod and vernalization pathways governing flowering time. | 2 | Effect of burden and origin sites of premature ventricular contractions on left ventricular function by 7-day Holter monitor显示文摘Recent studies have shown that premature ventricular contractions(PVCs) could enlarge the heart,but its risk factors are incompletely understood as a single 24-hour recording cannot reflect the true PVC burden due to day-to-day variability.Our purpose was to investigate the effect of burden and origin sites on left ventricular(LV) function in patients with PVCs by 7-day Holter electrocardiography(ECG).From May 2012 to August2013,112 consecutive patients with PVCs were recruited from the authors' affiliated hospital.All patients received2-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography,12-lead routing ECG and 7-days Holter ECG.Serum N-terminal probrain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) levels were measured.A total of 102 participants with PVCs were included in the final analysis.Origin of PVCs from the tricuspid annulus had the highest burden and NT-proBNP level.LV papillary muscle had a higher LV ejection fraction(EF) level and a lower LV end-systolic dimension(ESD) than other PVC foci(P<0.05).The high burden group had a higher LV end-diastolic dimension(EDD) and LVESD but lower LVEF than the other two groups(P<0.05).Female,older age,physical work,and history of PVCs had a significantly positive correlation with symptoms.Male,older age,physical work,and high burden were positive predictors of enlarged LVEDD,LVESD and higher serum NT-proBNP level,but lower LVEF.Seven-day dynamic ECG Holter monitor showed the true PVC burden on patients with PVCs.PVCs with a lower burden or origin from the LV papillary muscle and the fascicle were relatively benign,while PVCs with a higher burden or origin from the tricuspid annulus may lead to cardiac dysfunction. | Wenhua Xu Mingfang Li Minglong Chen Bing Yang Daowu Wang Xiangqing Kong Hongwu Chen Weizhu Ju Kai Gu Kejiang Cao Hailei Liu Qi Jiang Jiaojiao Shi Yan Cui Hong Wang | 2015 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,6: | 4 |
| 3 | Mitochondrial retrograde regulation tuning fork in nuclear genes expressions of higher plants显示文摘In plant cells, there are three organelles: the nucleus, chloroplast, and mitochondria that store genetic information. The nucleus possesses the majority of genetic information and controls most aspects of organelles gene expression, growth, and development. In return, organelles also send signals back to regulate nuclear gene expression, a process defined as retrograde regulation. The best studies of organelles to nucleus retrograde regulation exist in plant chloroplast-to-nuclear regulation and yeast mitochondria-to-nuclear regulation. In this review, we summarize the recent understanding of mitochondrial retrograde regulation in higher plant, which involves multiple potential signaling pathway in relation to cytoplasmic male-sterility, biotic stress, and abiotic stress. With respect to mitochondrial retrograde regulation signal pathways involved in cytoplasmic male-sterility, we consider that nuclear transcriptional factor genes are the targeted genes regulated by mitochondria to determine the abnormal reproductive development, and the MAPK signaling pathway may be involved in this regulation in Brassica juncea. When plants suffer biotic and abiotic stress, plant cells will initiate cell death or other events directed toward recovering from stress. During this process, we propose that mitochondria may determine how plant cell responds to a given stress through retrograde regulation. Meanwhile, several transducer molecules have also been discussed here. | 4 | Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factors Shape RNA Viruses Resistance in Plants显示文摘Viruses are representative of a global threat to agricultural production. Genetic resistance is the preferred strategy for the control of viral infection and against loss of crop yield. Viral protein synthesis requires host cellular factors for translating their viral RNAs, and for regulating their replication and cell to cell systemic movement. Therefore, the viruses are dependent on cellular translation factors. Mutations in the gene encoding eIF4E and eIF4G or their isoforms, eIFiso4 E, eIFiso4 G and eIF2Bβ have been mapped as a source of plant potyvirus while other genus of plant virus recessive resistance genes in many species are originated from these loci. Some of other plant translation factors, such as eIF3,eIF4 A-like helicases, eEF1A and eEF1B, which are required in interacting with viral RNAs and regulating various aspects of the infection cycle,have also been identified. Here, we summarized the mechanisms utilized by RNA viruses of eukaryotic plants and the essential roles of e IFs in virus infection. Moreover, we discussed the potential of e IFs as a target gene in the development of genetic resistance to viruses for crop improvement. | 16 | Optimal ordering policy for platelets:Data-driven method vs model-driven method显示文摘Platelets,one of the most significant materials in treating leukemia,have a limited shelf life of approximately five days.Because platelets cannot be manufactured and can only be centrifuged from whole or donated blood directly,an accurate ordering policy is necessary for the efficient use of this limited blood resource.Given this motivation,the present study examines an ordering policy for platelets to minimize the expected shortage and overage.Rather than using the two-step model-driven method that first fits a demand distribution and then optimizes the order quantity,we solve the issue using an integrated datadriven method.Specifically,the data-driven method works directly with demand data and does not rely on the assumption of demand distribution.Consequently,we derive theoretical insights into the optimal solutions.Through a comparative analysis,we find that the data-driven method has a mean anchoring effect,and the amounts of shortage and overage reduced by this method are greater than those reduced by the model-driven method.Finally,we present an extended model with the service level requirement and conclude that the order decided by the data-driven method can precisely satisfy the service level requirement;however,the order decided by the model-driven method may be either higher or lower than the service level requirement and can lead to a higher cost. | Mingfang Yang Xu Chen Zheng Luo | 2021 | Fundamental Research2021,1,5: | 0 |

| 20 | Study on the Variation Characteristics of Haze Weather in Hubei Province during 1980-2012显示文摘This paper, using the method of 'the combination of 14 o'clock relative humidity, visibility and weather phenomena', selected haze days during 1980-2012 from 13 stations of Hubei Province, and studied years of variation characteristics of haze weather in Hubei Province. The results showed that the average annual haze days showed a fluctuant rising trend in whole from 1980 to 2012, but there were many peak value and valley value during the whole changing process; haze days of most stations showed an increasing trend, among which the stations with less than50 d haze days had a more obvious increasing trend, and the spatial distribution of annual mean haze days had distinct inhomogeneity. Haze days of Hubei Province presented the distribution characteristics of more in autumn and winter, and less in spring and summer, in which haze days during December-January were the most,and haze days during July-August were the least. Terrain had a big impact on local haze days, piedmont leeward zones were prone to haze days, mountainous regions were just the opposite.
