1Simulation and assessment of sludge concentration and rheology in the process of waste activated sludge treatment显示文摘The process of using flat-sheet membrane for simultaneous sludge thickening and digestion (MSTD) was employed. The variations of sludge concentration and rheology were characterized and simulated. Based on mass balance analysis, mathematical models were developed and successfully used to predict and evaluate the variations of sludge concentration and the digestion effciency in the MSTD process. The apparent viscosity of sludge could be modeled as functions of mixed liquor suspended solids and shear rates. The sludge in the MSTD process showed both shear-thinning and viscoplastic behaviour, and under various shear rates different rheological models could be chosen to predict their flow behaviour. 2Validation of Non-invasive Fibrosis Scores for Predicting Advanced Fibrosis in Metabolic-associated Fatty Liver Disease显示文摘Background and Aims:Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a newly proposed terminology from 2020;yet,the applicability of conventional noninvasive fi-brosis models is still unknown for it.We aimed to evaluate the performance of conventional noninvasive fibrosis scores in MAFLD.Methods:The NHANES 2017-2018 datasets were used to compare the performances of different non-invasive fibrosis scores in MAFLD,including the aspartate aminotransferase(AST)to platelet ratio index(APRI),body mass index(BMI)-AST/alanine aminotransferase(ALT)ratio and diabetes score(BARD),fibrosis-4 index(FIB-4),and NAFLD fibrosis score(NFS).Moreover,Asian patients with biopsy-proven MAFLD were enrolled to further validate the findings.Results:A total of 2,622 participants in the Na-tional Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)cohort and 293 patients with MAFLD in the Asian cohort were included.Patients in the Asian cohort had a lower BMI and higher liver enzymes(p<0.001).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)of NFS was the largest in the NHANES cohort and Asian cohorts(0.679 and 0.699,respectively).The AUROC of NFS was followed by APRI,FIB-4,and BARD in the NHANES cohort(0.616,0.601,and 0.589,respectively).In the Asian cohort,the AUROC of APRI,FIB-4,and BARD for predicting advanced fibrosis were 0.625,0.683,and 0.615,respectively.The performance of FIB-4 was better in the Asian cohort than that in the NHANES cohort.Conclusions:NFS is better for predicting advanced fibrosis in MAFLD.FIB-4 can be an al-ternative choice for MAFLD with high liver enzymes when NFS is unavailable.Novel efficient noninvasive fibrosis scor-ing systems are highly required for patients with MAFLD.Xiaoning Chen George Boon-Bee Goh Jiaofeng Huang Yinlian Wu Mingfang Wang Rahul Kumar Su Lin Yueyong Zhu 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,4:4
3Epidemiological characteristics and temporal-spatial analysis of overseas imported dengue fever cases in outbreak provinces of China, 2005–2019显示文摘Background Overseas imported dengue fever is an important factor in local outbreaks of this disease in the mainland of China.To better prevent and control such local outbreaks,the epidemiological characteristics and temporal-spatial distribution of overseas imported dengue fever cases in provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)where dengue fever is outbreak in the mainland of China were explored.Methods Using the Chinese National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting Information System(CNNDS),we identified overseas imported dengue fever cases in dengue fever outbreak areas in the mainland of China from 2005 to 2019 to draw the epidemic curve and population characteristic distribution of overseas imported cases in each PLAD.Based on spatial autocorrelation analysis of ArcGIS 10.5 and temporal-spatial scanning analysis of SaTScan 9.5,we analyzed the temporal-spatial distribution of overseas imported dengue fever in dengue fever outbreak areas in the mainland of China.Results A total of 11,407 imported cases,mainly from Southeast Asia,were recorded from 2005 to 2019 in these 13 PLADs.Of which 62.1%were imported into Yunnan and Guangdong Provinces.Among the imported cases,there were more males than females,mainly from the 21–50 age group.The hot spots were concentrated in parts of Yunnan,Guangdong and Fujian Provinces.We found the cluster of infected areas were expanding northward.Conclusions Based on the analysis of overseas imported dengue cases in 13 PLADs of the mainland of China from 2005 to 2019,we obtained the epidemiological characteristics and spatial distribution of imported dengue cases.Border controls need to pay attention to key population sectors,such as 21–50 years old men and education of key populations on dengue prevention.There is a need to improve the awareness of the prevention and control of imported cases in border areas.At the same time,northern regions cannot relax their vigilance.Xinchang Lun Yiguan Wang Chunchun Zhao Haixia Wu Caiying Zhu Delong Ma Mingfang Xu Jun Wang Qiyong Liu Lei Xu Fengxia Meng 2022Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,1:3

6Adaptation and mitigation for combating climate change - from singletojoint显示文摘Introduction:Adaptation and mitigation are two main approaches to combating climate change.Mitigation is considered as the most important tasks in dealing with climate change in scientific res earch,financial support and technical practices as global warming intensifes;while currently the warming trend still cannot be reversed,and adaptation task seemed to gain urgency although it is late-starting.The synergies and tradeoffs of these two strategies revealed increasingly importance on reduding adverse dimate effects.Research on synergistic relationships has developed from definition and feasible analysis,to the development of quantitative tools and exploration in practice and application,though the latter aspect is still in its initial stage.Outcomes/other.Our review shows that the traits of mitigation and adaptation,the difer-ences and similarities between them,then ilustrate the significance and mechanism of their synergies and tradeoffs.And it is explained that methods and applications of single and integrated models,and cost-effectiveness analysis.Discussion/Conclusion:We hold the opinion that the future research and applications should be enhanced in terms of four aspects:reinforcement of interrelations and common mecha nisms between mitigation and adaptation actions study;building and improving the monitoring and evaluating systems;promoting departmental and regional scale investiga-tions and applications;and establishing policy and security systems.Chunli Zhao Yan Yan Chenxing Wang Mingfang Tang Gang Wu Ding Ding Yang Song 2018Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2018,4,4:1

14An Analysis of Crosswalks from Research Data Schemas to Schema.org显示文摘The increased number of data repositories has greatly increased the availability of open data.To enable broad discovery and access to research dataset,some data repositories have begun leveraging the web architecture by embedding structured metadata markup in dataset web landing pages using vocabularies from Schema.org and extensions.This paper aims to examine metadata interoperability for supporting global data discovery.Specifically,the paper reports a survey on which metadata schema has been adopted by participating data repositories,and presents an analysis of crosswalks from fourteen research data schemas to Schema.org.The analysis indicates most descriptive metadata are interoperable among the schemas,the most inconsistent mapping is the rights metadata,and a large gap exists in the structural metadata and controlled vocabularies to specify various property values.The analysis and collated crosswalks can serve as a reference for data repositories when they develop crosswalks from their own schemas to Schema.org,and provide the research data community a benchmark of structured metadata implementation.Mingfang Wu Stephen M.Richard Chantelle Verhey Leyla Jael Castro Baptiste Cecconi Nick Juty 2023Data Intelligence2023,5,1:0

16Impacts of regional land-use patterns on ecosystem services in the typical agro-pastoral ecotone of northern China显示文摘A comprehensive understanding of the spatial-temporal evolution and driving forces on ecosystem services(ES)is essential for the agro-pastoral ecotone’s ecological security in northern China.However,the land-use pattern(LULC)agglomeration with spatial differentiation in the pastoral and agricultural areas has been rarely concerned.Taking distinct LULC(1980-2018)in Chifeng as an example,we compared four crucial categories of ESs with InVEST.Using SEM,we further contrasted the effects of several variables on regional ES variations in pastoral-dominated(North)and agriculture-dominated(South)regions,respectively.Results revealed the conversion between forest and grassland oriented the LULC transformation in the North.In contrast,human-activitiy-oriented land tended to occupy environmentally sensitive places in the South.Similar ES variations were supplied with the North outperforming the South when soil conservation was omitted.As for the impacts of regional ES variations,the natural and LULC policies both showed positive effects,whereas the anthropogenic factors showed positive in the North,which was negative in the South.Therefore,the ecologicallymaintained-dominant and ecologically-restored-dominant strategies should be separately adopted in the North and South.Our study provided appropriate regional ecological management suggestions for balancing the LULC-driven conflicts between ecological protection and regional development.Huimin Chen Yu Zhao Xiao Fu Mingfang Tang Mingjie Guo Shiqi Zhang Yu Zhu Laiye Qu Gang Wu 2022Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2022,8,1:0

18Antagonism between abscisic acid and gibberellin regulates starch synthesis and corm development in Gladiolus hybridus显示文摘Understanding corm development in flower bulbs is of importance for securing the quality of cut flowers and propagation of commercial stocks.Gladiolus is one of the most popular bulb plants worldwide.Its corm development is characterized by starch accumulation.Previous research has shown that phytohormones(especially gibberellin(GA))are involved in tuber development.However,the relationship between abscisic acid(ABA)/GA and starch during corm development remains unclear.To gain deeper insights into the biological process of corm development,we performed a detailed anatomical characterization of different stages of corm development and analyzed phytohormone levels.Our study showed that corm development is linked to hormones(ABA and GA)and carbohydrates(sucrose and starch).Exogenous hormone treatment and silencing of endogenous hormone biosynthesis genes indicated that ABA positively regulates corm development,while GA acts as an antagonist of ABA function.A sucrose synthase gene(GhSUS2)was shown to be involved in the antagonism between ABA and GA.GhSUS2 was upregulated by ABA and downregulated by GA.The increase in the transcript level of GhSUS2 coincided with the development of corm/cormels.Silencing of GhSUS2 repressed corm development and starch accumulation.In conclusion,we propose that GhSUS2,an essential enzyme in sucrose degradation,is differentially regulated by ABA and GA and controls corm development in Gladiolus.Jingru Li Shanshan Seng Donglei Li Fengqin Zhang Yixuan Liu Ting Yao Jiahui Liang Mingfang Yi Jian Wu 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:0
