1Elevated plasma levels of selective cytokines in COVID-19 patients reflect viral load and lung injury显示文摘A recent outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan,China was found to be caused by a 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV or SARS-CoV-2 or HCoV-19).We previously reported the clinical features of 12 patients with2019-n Co V infections in Shenzhen,China.To further understand the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and find better ways to monitor and treat the disease caused by 2019-n Co V,we measured the levels of 48 cytokines in the blood plasma of those 12 COVID-19 patients.Thirty-eight out of the 48 measured cytokines in the plasma of 2019-n Co V-infected patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy individuals.Seventeen cytokines were linked to 2019-nCoV loads.Fifteen cytokines,namely M-CSF,IL-10,IFN-α2,IL-17,IL-4,IP-10,IL-7,IL-1 ra,G-CSF,IL-12,IFN-γ,IL-1α,IL-2,HGF and PDGF-BB,were strongly associated with the lung-injury Murray score and could be used to predict the disease severity of2019-n Co V infections by calculating the area under the curve of the receiver-operating characteristics.Our results suggest that 2019-nCoV infections trigger extensive changes in a wide array of cytokines,some of which could be potential biomarkers of disease severity of 2019-n Co V infections.These findings will likely improve our understanding of the immunopathologic mechanisms of this emerging disease.Our results also suggest that modulators of cytokine responses may play a therapeutic role in combating the disease once the functions of these elevated cytokines have been characterized.Yingxia Liu Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Yang Yang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zheng Zhang Yuhao Qin Xiaoyun Li Dandan Zhao Shunwang Li Shuguang Tan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Chenguang Shen Jianming Li Ling Peng Weibo Wu Mengli Cao Li Xing Zhixiang Xu Li Chen Congzhao Zhou William J Liu Lei Liu Chengyu Jiang 2020National Science Review2020,7,6:6
2Comparison of different cooling methods for extending shelf life of postharvest broccoli显示文摘This study aimed to investigate and compare the effects of vacuum cooling,cooling water and cold room methods on the shelf life of broccoli.The experiments were divided into four groups:vacuum cooling(A),ice-water cooling(B),cold room cooling(C)and control.The cooling rate and changes of weight loss,respiratory rate,chlorophyll,vitamin C,reducing sugar content and sensory properties were measured at intervals of five days.The results indicated that vacuum cooling was the most effective method for extending the shelf life of postharvest broccoli in terms of cooling rate,respiration rate,chlorophyll,vitamin C,reducing sugar and sensory properties.Moreover,spraying the broccoli with water during the vacuum cooling process resulted in a significant reduction in weight compared with the other two cooling methods and did not reduce the quality of the broccoli.Consequently,vacuum cooling treatment can be applied to broccoli after harvest in the field to maintain quality during transportation and storage.Additionally,the application of water spraying during vacuum cooling can considerably reduce the negative influence caused by vacuum cooling.Ding Tian Liu Fen Ling Jiangang Kang Mengli Yu Jingfen Ye Xingqian Liu DongHong 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,6:5
3Distribution and removal of antibiotic resistance genes during anaerobic sludge digestion with alkaline, thermal hydrolysis and ultrasonic pretreatments显示文摘Sewage sludge in the wastewater treatment plants contains considerable amount of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). A few studies have reported that anaerobic digestion (AD) could successfully remove some ARGs from sewage sludge, but information on the fate of ARGs in sludge pretreatment-AD process is still very limited. In this study, three sludge pretreatment methods, including alkaline, thermal hydrolysis and ultrasonic pretreatments, were compared to investigate the distribution and removal of ARGs in the sludge pretreatment-AD process. Results showed that the ARGs removal efficiency of AD itself was approximately 50.77%, and if these three sludge pretreatments were applied, the total ARGs removal efficiency of the whole pretreatment-AD process could be improved up to 52.50%-75.07%. The ultrasonic pretreatment was more efficient than alkaline and thermal hydrolysis pretreatments. Although thermal hydrolysis reduced ARGs obviously, the total ARGs rebounded considerably after inoculation and were only removed slightly in the subsequent AD process. Furthermore, it was found that the total ARGs concentration significantly correlated with the amount of 16S rRNA gene during the pretreatment and AD processes, and the bacteria carrying ARGs could be mainly affiliated with Proteobacteria.Mengli Wang Ruying Li Qing Zhao 2019Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2019,13,3:5

6Metal-organic framework-derived CoSn/NC nanocubes as absorbers for electromagnetic wave attenuation显示文摘Metal-organic framework-derived composites have been widely used in electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption,but the traditional synthetic strategy greatly limits the structure and species of MOFs.This research provided a solvent-free method to synthesize Co-MOF and its derivatives.Using CoSnO_(3)as the precursor,the preparation of Co-MOF is achieved by bridging the cobalt(II)ion of CoSnO_(3)and the 2-methylimidazole skeleton.The CoSn/N-doped carbon(CoSn/NC)composites derived from CoSnO_(3)-MOF(Co-MOF with CoSnO_(3)as Co source)retain the original morphology of CoSnO_(3).Besides,the polarization effect produced by the N-doped carbon layers also benefits the excellent EMW absorption performance of the CoSn/NC composites.It is reflected in the minimum reflection loss(RL)of-48.2 dB at 2.2 mm and the effective bandwidth(EBA)of 5.84 GHz.This work provides a new channel to the construction of Co-MOFs,which could be extended to other Co-based oxides and vastly expand the species of MOFs based on metallic Co.Chenxi Wang Zirui Jia Shuangqiao He Jixi Zhou Shuo Zhang Mengli Tian Bingbing Wang Guanglei Wu 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,13:4
7Optical properties and applications for MoS_2-Sb_2Te_3-MoS_2 heterostructure materials显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D) materials with potential applications in photonic and optoelectronic devices have attracted increasing attention due to their unique structures and captivating properties. However, generation of stable high-energy ultrashort pulses requires further boosting of these materials' optical properties, such as higher damage threshold and larger modulation depth. Here we investigate a new type of heterostructure material with uniformity by employing the magnetron sputtering technique. Heterostructure materials are synthesized with van der Waals heterostructures consisting of MoS_2 and Sb_2Te_3. The bandgap, carrier mobility, and carrier concentration of the MoS_2-Sb_2Te_3-MoS_2 heterostructure materials are calculated theoretically. By using these materials as saturable absorbers(SAs), applications in fiber lasers with Q-switching and mode-locking states are demonstrated experimentally. The modulation depth and damage threshold of SAs are measured to be 64.17%and 14.13 J∕cm^2, respectively. Both theoretical and experimental results indicate that MoS_2-Sb_2Te_3-MoS_2 heterostructure materials have large modulation depth, and can resist high power during the generation of ultrashort pulses. 9In vitro comparison of the hemocompatibility of diamond-like carbon and carbon nitride coatings with different atomic percentages of N显示文摘Carbon nitride (CNx) and diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering at room temperature. Different partial pressures of N2 were used to synthesize CNx to evaluate the relationship between the atomic percentage of nitrogen and hemocompatibility. Auger electron spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy indicated atomic percentages of N of 0.12 and 0.22 and that the CNx coatings were smooth. An in vitro study of the hemocompatibility of the coatings revealed that both CNx coatings had better anticoagulant properties and lower platelet adhesion than DLC. Compared with CN0.12, the CN0.22 coating showed longer dynamic clotting time (about 42 min), static clotting time (23.6 min) and recalcification time (45.6 s), as well as lower platelet adhesion (102 cells μm 2), aggregation, and activation. 13Global nitrogen input on wetland ecosystem:The driving mechanism of soil labile carbon and nitrogen on greenhouse gas emissions显示文摘Greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands are significantly promoted by global nitrogen input for changing the rate of soil carbon and nitrogen cycling,and are substantially affected by soil labile carbon and nitrogen conversely.However,the driving mechanism by which soil labile carbon and nitrogen affect greenhouse gas emissions from wetland ecosystems under global nitrogen input is not well understood.Working out the driving factor of nitrogen input on greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands is critical to reducing global warming from nitrogen input.Thus,we synthesized 72 published studies(2144 paired observations)of greenhouse gas fluxes and soil labile compounds of carbon and nitrogen(ammonium,nitrate,dissolved organic carbon,soil microbial biomass nitrogen and carbon),to understand the effects of labile carbon and nitrogen on greenhouse gas emissions under global nitrogen input.Across the data set,nitrogen input significantly promoted carbon dioxide,methane and nitrous oxide emissions from wetlands.In particular,at lower nitrogen rates(<100 kg ha^(-1)$·yr^(-1))and with added ammonium compounds,freshwater wetland significantly promoted carbon dioxide and methane emissions.Peatland was the largest nitrous oxide source under these conditions.This meta-analysis also revealed that nitrogen input stimulated dissolved organic carbon,ammonium,nitrate,microbial biomass carbon and microbial biomass nitrogen accumulation in the wetland ecosystem.The variation-partitioning analysis and structural equation model were used to analyze the relationship between the greenhouse gas and labile carbon and nitrogen further.These results revealed that dissolved organic carbon(DOC)is the primary factor driving greenhouse gas emission from wetlands under global nitrogen input,whereas microbial biomass carbon(MBC)more directly affects greenhouse gas emission than other labile carbon and nitrogen.Mengli Chen Lian Chang Junmao Zhang Fucheng Guo Jan Vymazal Qiang He Yi Chen 2020Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2020,,4:2

17A chromosome-scale genome assembly of Dasypyrum villosum provides insights into its application as a broad-spectrum disease resistance resource for wheat improvement显示文摘Dasypyrum villosum is one of the most valuable gene resources in wheat improvement,especially for disease resistance.The mining of favorable genes from D.villosum is frustrated by the lack of a whole genome sequence.In this study,we generated a doubled-haploid line,91C43^(DH),using microspore culture and obtained a 4.05-GB high-quality,chromosome-scale genome assembly for D.villosum.The assembly contains39727 high-confidence genes,and 85.31% of the sequences are repetitive.Two reciprocal translocation events were detected,and 7VS-4VL is a unique translocation in D.villosum.The prolamin seed storage protein-coding genes were found to be duplicated;in particular,the genes encoding low-molecular-weight glutenin at the Glu-V3 locus were significantly expanded.RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)analysis indicated that,after Blumeria graminearum f.sp tritici(Bgt)inoculation,there were more upregulated genes involved in the pattern-triggered immunity and effector-triggered immunity defense pathways in D.villosum than in Triticum urartu.MNase hypersensitive sequencing(MH-seq)identified two Bgt-inducible MH sites(MHSs),one in the promoter and one in the 3'terminal region of the powdery mildew resistance(Pm)gene NLR1-V.Each site had two subpeaks and they were termed MHS1(MHS1.1/1.2)and MHS2(MHS2.1/2.2).Bgt-inducible MHS2.2 was uniquely present in D.villosum,and MHS1.1 was more inducible in D.villosum than in wheat,suggesting that MHSs may be critical for regulation of NLR1-V expression and plant defense.In summary,this study provides a valuable genome resource for functional genomics studies and wheat-D.villosum introgression breeding.The identified regulatory mechanisms may also be exploited to develop new strategies for enhancing Pm resistance by optimizing gene expression in wheat.Xu Zhang Haiyan Wang Haojie Sun Yingbo Li Yilong Feng Chengzhi Jiao Mengli Li Xinying Song Tong Wang Zongkuan Wang Chunxia Yuan Li Sun Ruju Lu Wenli Zhang Jin Xiao Xiue Wang 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,2:1
