1Spontaneous calcaneal fracture in patients with diabetic foot ulcer: Four cases report and review of literature显示文摘Spontaneous calcaneal fractures in diabetic patients without obvious trauma may occur, sometimes accompanying diabetic foot ulcers. In the current study we report four cases who were hospitalized for diabetic foot ulcer with concomitant calcaneal fractures. There were four diabetic patients(one type 1 and three type 2) who registered with diabetic foot ulcers with coexisting calcaneal fractures, all of which were classified as Type A according to Essex Lopresti Calcaneal Fracture Classification. Two of the patients with renal failure were in a routine dialysis program, as well as vascular compromise and osteomyelitis in all of the patients. The diabetic foot ulcer of the 61 years old osteoporotic female patient healed with local debridement, vacuum assisted closure and then epidermal growth factor while the calcaneal fracture was then followed by elastic bandage. In two patients could not prevent progression of diabetic foot ulcers and calcaneal fractures to consequent below-knee amputation. The only patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus improved with antibiotic therapy and split thickness skin grafting, while the calcaneal fracture did not heal. In the current study we aimed to emphasize the spontaneous calcaneal fractures as possible co-existing pathologies in patients with diabetic foot ulcers. After all the medical treatment, amputation below knee had to be performed in 2 patients. 2Electrocatalytic hydrogen peroxide formation on mesoporous non-metal nitrogen-doped carbon catalyst显示文摘Direct electrochemical formation of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) from pure O2 and H2on cheap metal-free earth abundant catalysts has emerged as the highest atom-efficient and environmentally friendly reaction pathway and is therefore of great interest from an academic and industrial point of view. Very recently,novel metal-free mesoporous nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts have attracted large attention due to the unique reactivity and selectivity for the electrochemical hydrogen peroxide formation [1–3]. In this work,we provide deeper insights into the electrocatalytic activity, selectivity and durability of novel metal-free mesoporous nitrogen-doped carbon catalyst for the peroxide formation with a particular emphasis on the influence of experimental reaction parameters such as p H value and electrode potential for three different electrolytes. We used two independent approaches for the investigation of electrochemical hydrogen peroxide formation, namely rotating ring-disk electrode(RRDE) technique and photometric UV–VIS technique. Our electrochemical and photometric results clearly revealed a considerable peroxide formation activity as well as high catalyst durability for the metal-free nitrogen-doped carbon catalyst material in both acidic as well as neutral medium at the same electrode potential under ambient temperature and pressure. 5Identification and Expression Analysis of Salinity-induced Genes in Rangpur lime(Citrus limonia)显示文摘Among the economically important horticultural crops,citrus is one of the most vulnerable crops to soil salinity.Rangpur lime is more tolerant to high soil salinity than other commonly used citrus rootstocks.However,the molecular mechanism involved in salinity tolerance has not been explored in Rangpur lime.In this study,a cDNA library was constructed from leaves of Rangpur lime watered for 30 days with 100mmol·L^−1 NaCl in tap water or tap water using suppression subtractive hybridization(SSH).Two hundred cDNA clones randomly selected from this library were sequenced,and an average of 569 bp was obtained from the majority of clones.Fifty-six salinity-induced genes,showing 2-to 6-fold increases in their expression levels,were identified by macroarray hybridizations.Salinity-induced genes were associated with transcription(5.36%),stress response and signaling(21.43%),metabolism(16.07%),transport facilitation(10.71%),photosynthesis(10.71%),protein synthesis and fate(19.64%)and cellular biogenesis(3.57%).Stress response-and signaling-related genes constituted the largest functional group,associated with the production of compatible solutes,regulation of stomatal movement,lipid modification,oxidative stress,antioxidant defense,and stress signaling.Expression levels of 13 identified genes were induced 1.8-to 3.1-fold,which were validated in salt-treated and untreated Rangpur lime.The functions of salinity-induced,stress-related genes and their potential roles in salinity tolerance in Rangpur lime were discussed.Mehtap S¸ahin-Çevik BayramÇevik Ali Coskan 2020Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,5:2
