| 1 | Safety of tirofiban and dual antiplatelet therapy in treating intracranial aneurysms显示文摘Background Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms usually involves stent-assisted coiling(SAC)and flow diverters.Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors such as tirofiban and dual antiplatelet therapy(DAPT)are required to prevent thromboembolic complications afterwards.We sought to determine the safety of tirofiban and DAPT in these cases.Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of our database for patients with intracranial aneurysms who underwent SAC or flow diversion.The tirofiban-DAPT protocol used is described.Data regarding duration of infusion,placement of external ventricular devices(EVDs),complications,haemoglobin levels and platelet count before and 24 hours after antiplatelet therapy were collected and analysed.results One-hundred and forty-one patients with 148 aneurysms/procedures were included.110 aneurysms were treated acutely and 38 electively.Minor and major haemorrhagic events were recognised in 20%(30/148)aneurysms.Only 5(3.4%)intracerebral haemorrhages were symptomatic:3 cortical/SAH and 2 EVD-related.The average blood volume in symptomatic haemorrhages was 24.8 cc versus 5.42 cc in asymptomatic haemorrhages(p=0.002).The rate of EVD-related haemorrhages was 15.7%(19/121)and only 2(1.7%)were symptomatic.Most haemorrhagic events occurred in ruptured aneurysms(90.1%,p=0.01).No significant change in platelet count or haemoglobin levels before and 24 hours after administration of tirofiban and DAPT was documented.Concomitant administration of heparin did not increase haemorrhagic events.Conclusion The use of the GP IIb/IIIa inhibitors tirofiban and DAPT in this series was safe.Tirofiban and DAPT did not affect platelet count or haemoglobin levels and did not increase rate of symptomatic haemorrhages or thromboembolic complications. | Edgar A Samaniego Emilee Gibson Daichi Nakagawa Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez Mario Zanaty Jorge A Roa Pascal Jabbour David M Hasan | 2019 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019，4，1： | 17 |
| 2 | Mediterranean Berries as Inhibitors of Lipid Oxidation in Porcine Burger Patties Subjected to Cooking and Chilled Storage显示文摘The efficiency of extracts from Arbutus unedo L.(AU),Crataegus monogyna L.(CM),Rosa canina L.(RC),and Rubus ulmifolius Schott.(RU)to inhibit lipid oxidation in raw,cooked and cooked and chilled(2°C/12 d)porcine burger patties,was investigated.The modification of the fatty acid profile during processing treatments(cooking and chilling),the quantitative measurements of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBA-RS),and lipid-derived volatiles,were used as indicators of lipid oxidation.Polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)gradually decreased during cooking and the subsequent storage of cooked burger patties with this decrease being significantly greater(P<0.05)in control patties than in those with added berry extracts.In accordance,the control patties showed significantly higher TBA-RS numbers and counts of lipid-derived volatiles in all treatments when compared to the berry-added counterparts(P<0.05).Results from the present work show,for the first time,that extracts from A.unedo,C.monogyna,R.canina,and R.ulmifolius are promising antioxidants which could enhance the nutritional,safety and sensory properties of porcine burger patties. | Rui Ganho Mario Estévez Mónica Armenteros David Morcuende | 2013 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2013，12，11： | 16 |
| 3 | Preeclampsia from a renal point of view:Insides into disease models,biomarkers and therapy显示文摘Proteinuria is a frequently detected symptom,found in 20% of pregnancies.A common reason for proteinuria in pregnancy is preeclampsia.To diagnose preeclampsia clinically and to get new insights into the pathophysiology of the disease it is at first essential to be familiar with conditions in normal pregnancy.Animal models and biomarkers can help to learn more about disease conditions and to find new treatment strategies.In this article we review the changes in kidney function during normal pregnancy and the differential diagnosis of proteinuria in pregnancy.We summarize different pathophysiological theories of preeclampsia with a special focus on the renal facets of the disease.We describe the current animal models and give a broad overview of different biomarkers that were reported to predict preeclampsia or have a prognostic value in preeclampsia cases.We end with a summary of treatment options for preeclampsia related symptoms including the use of plasmapheresis as a rescue therapy for so far refractory preeclampsia.Most of these novel biomarkers for preeclampsia are not yet implemented in clinical use.Therefore,we recommend using proteinuria(measured by UPC ratio) as a screening parameter for preeclampsia.Delivery is the only curative treatment for preeclampsia.In earlypreeclampsia the primary therapy goal is to prolong pregnancy until a state were the child has an acceptable chance of survival after delivery. | Janina Müller-Deile Mario Schiffer | 2014 | World Journal of Nephrology2014，3，4： | 10 |
| 4 | Interrelationship between chromosome 8 aneuploidy,C-MYC amplification and increased expression in individuals from northern Brazil with gastric adenocarcinoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate chromosome 8 numerical aberra- tions, C-MYC oncogene alterations and its expression in gastric cancer and to correlate these findings with histo- pathological characteristics of gastric tumors. METHODS: Specimens were collected surgically from seven patients with gastric adenocarcinomas. Immu- nostaining for C-MYC and dual-color fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for C-MYC gene and chromosome 8 centromere were performed. RESULTS: All the cases showed chromosome 8 aneu- ploidy and C-MYC amplification, in both the diffuse and intestinal histopathological types of Lauren. No significant difference (P < 0.05) was observed between the level ofchromosome 8 ploidy and the site, stage or histological type of the adenocarcinomas. C-MYC high amplification, like homogeneously stained regions (HSRs) and double minutes (DMs), was observed only in the intestinal-type. Structural rearrangement of C-MYC, like translocation, was observed only in the diffuse type. Regarding C-MYC gene, a significant difference (P < 0.05) was observed between the two histological types. The C-MYC protein was expressed in all the studied cases. In the intestinal- type the C-MYC immunoreactivity was localized only in the nucleus and in the diffuse type in the nucleus and cytoplasm. | 7 | Application of Natural Antioxidants from Strawberry Tree(Arbutus unedo L.) and Dog Rose(Rosa canina L.) to Frankfurters Subjected to Refrigerated Storage显示文摘The effect of the addition of natural antioxidants from strawberry tree(Arbutus unedo L.;AU)and dog rose(Rosa canina L.;RC),in frankfurters elaborated with or without the addition of antioxidant additives(sodium ascorbate and nitrite)was studied.Six different types of experimental frankfurters were prepared depending on the addition of phenolic-rich extracts from RC and AU and the presence(P)or absence(C)of antioxidant additives.Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS)-numbers significantly increased during chilled storage of C-frankfurters while additives and fruit phenolics inhibited lipid oxidation in P-frankfurters.The amount of protein carbonyls significantly increased in all treatments except in P-AU frankfurters.The discoloration process that occurred during the chilled storage was reduced by the addition of substances with proven antioxidant activity(P-frankfurters).Texture characteristics as hardness,springiness,cohesiveness and gumminess also suffered a significant deterioration in C-frankfurters.The use of phenolic fruit extracts in combination with traditional antioxidant additives is a successful strategy to enhance the oxidative stability of frankfurters without modifying their color and texture properties. | Mónica Armenteros David Morcuende Sonia Ventanas Mario Estévez | 2013 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2013，12，11： | 4 |
| 8 | Restless legs syndrome is contributing to fatigue and low quality of life levels in hemodialysis patients显示文摘AIM To examine whether hemodialysis(HD) patients with restless legs syndrome(RLS) are subjects of greater fatigue and impaired quality of life(QoL) compared to HD patients without RLS.METHODS Eighty five stable HD patients participated in this study. According to their RLS status, the patients were dividedinto the RLS group(n = 23) and the non-RLS group(n = 62). QoL, fatigue, sleep quality, daily sleepiness and depression symptoms were assessed by using various questionnaires. Finally, biochemical parameters including iron, ferritin, hemoglobin, hematocrit and parathormone were assessed. RESULTS The HD patients with RLS scored worse in all the questionnaires used in the study(P < 0.05). The patients with RLS were more likely to receive the HD therapy on the morning shift, whilst 43.5% of the RLS patients reported to experience the RLS symptoms also during HD. The severity of RLS was correlated with fatigue, depression score and sleep quality(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION HD patients with RLS are subject to lower QoL related parameters and greater fatigue compared to HD patients without RLS. | 11 | Infectious, atopic and inflammatory diseases, childhood adversities and familial aggregation are independently associated with the risk for mental disorders: Results from a large Swiss epidemiological study显示文摘AIM To examine the associations between mental disorders and infectious, atopic, inflammatory diseases while adjusting for other risk factors.METHODS We used data from PsyC oL aus, a large Swiss Population Cohort Study(n = 3720; age range 35-66). Lifetime diagnoses of mental disorders were grouped into the following categories: Neurodevelopmental, anxiety(early and late onset), mood and substance disorders. They were regressed on infectious, atopic and other inflammatory diseases adjusting for sex, educational level, familial aggregation, childhood adversities and traumatic experiences in childhood. A multivariate logistic regression was applied to each group of disorders. In a complementary analysis interactions with sex were introduced via nested effects. RESULTS Associations with infectious, atopic and other chronic inflammatory diseases were observable together with consistent effects of childhood adversities and familial aggregation, and less consistent effects of trauma in each group of mental disorders. Streptococcal infections were associated with neurodevelopmental disorders(men), and measles/mumps/rubella-infections with early and late anxiety disorders(women). Gastric inflammatory diseases took effect in mood disorders(both sexes) and in early disorders(men). Similarly, irritable bowel syndrome was prominent in a sex-specific way in mood disorders in women, and, moreover, was associated with early and late anxiety disorders. Atopic diseases were associated with late anxiety disorders. Acne(associations with mood disorders in men) and psoriasis(associations with early anxiety disorders in men and mood disorders in women) contributed sex-specific results. Urinary tract infections were associated with mood disorders and, in addition, in a sex-specific way with late anxiety disorders(men), and neurodevelopmental and early anxiety disorders(women).CONCLUSION Infectious, atopic and inflammatory diseases areimportant risk factors for all groups of mental disorders. | 12 | Massive fibrous epulis——a case report of a 10-year-old lesion显示文摘The fibrous epulis, a common tumor-like lesion of the gingiva, appears in the interdental papilla as a result of local irritation. Lesions are asymptomatic and have a variable growth rate. A 75-year-old woman was referred for the evaluation of a large painless gingival mass. It had started 10 years back and has been increasing in size the last year. No bone involvement was noted. The tumor was totally removed by excision with surgical scalpel under local anesthesia without teeth extraction. The microscopic findings were suggestive of a fibrous epulis.
