| 1 | Predictive value and main determinants of abnormal features of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:The major issue with intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is whether its diagnostic accuracy for common bile duct (CBD) stones matches that of other diagnostic procedures,and thus,whether it will become a routine diagnostic procedure.The current study aimed to address the main determinants of CBD stone diagnosis in IOC among an Iranian population.METHODS:In a retrospective review database-based study conducted in Taleghani Hospital in Tehran between 2006 and 2008,baseline data and perioperative information of 2060 patients (male to female ratio 542:1518,mean age 53.7 years) who were candidates for cholecystectomy and underwent concomitant IOC for confirming CBD stones were reviewed.The predictive power of this procedure for diagnosis of abnormal biliary ducts with the focus on biliary stones was determined.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity following cholecystectomy in the study population were 0.6% and 2.6%,respectively.Both early mortality and morbidity due to cholecystectomy were higher in male than female.The prevalence of CBD stones in IOC was 3.4% (5.2% in male and 2.8% in female,P=0.008).Among those without gallstones,8.7% had CBD stones and only 3.1% had concomitant gallstones and CBD stones.The main predictors of stone appearance as an abnormal feature of IOC during cholecystectomy were:advanced age (OR=1.022,P=0.001),male gender (OR=1.498,P=0.050),history of abdominal surgery (OR=1.543,P=0.040) and preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (OR=5.400,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:IOC is a safe and accurate method for the assessment of bile duct anatomy and stones.Therefore,the routine use of IOC within cholecystectomy seems reasonable and is recommended. | Shahram Yousefpour Azary Heshmat Kalbasi Ali Setayesh Mirhadi Mousavi Asad Hashemi Mahsa Khodadoostan Mohammad Reza Zali Amir Houshang Mohammad Alizadeh | 2011 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,3: | 11 |
| 2 | A new combined framework for sustainable development using the DPSIR approach and numerical modeling显示文摘Relying on the conceptual DPSIR framework and MODFLOW analysis,this study used a mixed approach to produce groundwater resource management solutions for the Najafabad area in central Iran.According to DPSIR results,agricultural activities put the highest pressure on groundwater resources in this region.The results showed the effectiveness of reducing waterwithdrawal over 30 years in maintaining the aquifer in a state of equilibrium.The best scenario consisted of cutting down extraction by 10%over the said period.Output maps of the water table rise at the Najafabad aquifer clearly showed that the groundwater management scenario involving a 10%reduction ofwater withdrawal was the most effective solution,as itwould raise thewater level by 6.7 m.Regarding other scenarios,reducing cultivated area by 20%was found to raise the water table by 5.03 m on average,while cutting down water withdrawal by 5%increased the water table by 3.6 m,and a 10%reduction of the cultivated area resulted in a 1.85mrise.The combinedmodel proposed here can be used for similar aquifers and can aid decision-makers and managers. | Mahsa Malmir Saman Javadi Ali Moridi Aminreza Neshat Babak Razdar | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,4: | 7 |

| 4 | 方波伏安法测定新型修饰多壁碳纳米管糊电极对肼的电催化氧化(英文)显示文摘The application of p-aminophenol as a suitable mediator, as a sensitive and selective voltammetric sensor for the determination of hydrazine using square wave voltammetric method were described. The modified multiwall carbon nanotubes paste electrode exhibited a good electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of hydrazine at pH = 7.0. The catalytic oxidation peak currents showed a linear dependence of the peaks current to the hydrazine concentrations in the range of 0.5–175 μmol/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9975. The detection limit (S/N = 3) was estimated to be 0.3 μmol/L of hydrazine. The relative standard deviations for 0.7 and 5.0 μmol/L hydrazine were 1.7 and 1.1%, respectively. The modified electrode showed good sensitivity and selectivity. The diffusion coefficient (D = 9.5 × 10–4 cm2/s) and the kinetic parameters such as the electron transfer coefficient (α = 0.7) of hydrazine at the surface of the modified electrode were determined using electrochemical approaches. | 5 | Interventions of natural and synthetic agents in inflammatory bowel disease, modulation of nitric oxide pathways显示文摘Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)refers to a group of disorders characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal(GI)tract.The elevated levels of nitric oxide(NO)in serum and affected tissues;mainly synthesized by the inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)enzyme;can exacerbate GI inflammation and is one of the major biomarkers of GI inflammation.Various natural and synthetic agents are able to ameliorate GI inflammation and decrease iNOS expression to the extent comparable with some IBD drugs.Thereby,the purpose of this study was to gather a list of natural or synthetic mediators capable of modulating IBD through the NO pathway.Electronic databases including Google Scholar and PubMed were searched from 1980 to May 2018.We found that polyphenols and particularly flavonoids are able to markedly attenuate NO production and iNOS expression through the nuclear factorκB(NF-κB)and JAK/STAT signaling pathways.Prebiotics and probiotics can also alter the GI microbiota and reduce NO expression in IBD models through a broad array of mechanisms.A number of synthetic molecules have been found to suppress NO expression either dependent on the NF-κB signaling pathway(i.e.,dexamethasone,pioglitazone,tropisetron)or independent from this pathway(i.e.,nicotine,prednisolone,celecoxib,β-adrenoceptor antagonists).Co-administration of natural and synthetic agents can affect the tissue level of NO and may improve IBD symptoms mainly by modulating the Toll like receptor-4 and NF-κB signaling pathways. | Aida Kamalian Masoud Sohrabi Asl Mahsa Dolatshahi Khashayar Afshari Shiva Shamshiri Nazanin Momeni Roudsari Saeideh Momtaz Roja Rahimi Mohammad Abdollahi Amir Hossein Abdolghaffari | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,24: | 5 |

| 7 | Beneficial effect of butyrate, Lactobacillus casei and L-carnitine combination in preference to each in experimental colitis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the beneficial effect of the combination of butyrate, Lactobacillus casei, and L-carnitine in a rat colitis model.METHODS: Rats were divided into seven groups. Fourgroups received oral butyrate, L-carnitine, Lactobacillus casei and the combination of three agents for 10 consecutive days. The remaining groups included negative and positive controls and a sham group. Macroscopic, histopathological examinations, and biomarkers such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) and interlukin-1β(IL-1β), myeloperoxidase(MPO), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS), and ferric reduced ability of plasma(FRAP) were determined in the colon.RESULTS: The combination therapy exhibited a significant beneficial effect in alleviation of colitis compared to controls. Overall changes in reduction of TNF-α(114.66 ± 18.26 vs 171.78 ± 9.48 pg/mg protein, P < 0.05), IL-1β(24.9 ± 1.07 vs 33.06 ± 2.16 pg/mg protein, P < 0.05), TBARS(0.2 ± 0.03 vs 0.49 ± 0.04 μg/mg protein, P < 0.01), MPO(15.32 ± 0.4 vs 27.24 ± 3.84 U/mg protein, P < 0.05), and elevation of FRAP(23.46 ± 1.2 vs 15.02 ± 2.37 μmol/L, P < 0.05) support the preference of the combination therapy in comparison to controls. | 8 | Diversity of Helicobacter pylori genotypes in Iranian patients with different gastroduodenal disorders显示文摘AIM:To investigate the diversity of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)genotypes and correlations with disease outcomes in an Iranian population with different gastroduodenal disorders.METHODS:Isolates of H.pylori from patients with different gastroduodenal disorders were analyzed after culture and identification by phenotypic and genotypic methods.Genomic DNA was extracted with the QIAamp DNA mini kit(Qiagen,Germany).After DNA extraction,genotyping was done for cagA,vacA(s and m regions),iceA(iceA1,iceA2)and babA with specific primers for each allele using polymerase chain reaction(PCR).All patients’pathologic and clinical data and their relation with known genotypes were analyzed by using SPSS version 19.0 software.2test and Fisher’s exact test were used to assess relationships between categorical variables.The level of statistical significance was set at P<0.05.RESULTS:A total of 71 isolates from 177 patients with different gastroduodenal disorders were obtained.Based on analysis of the cagA gene(positive or negative),vacA s-region(s1or s2),vacA m-region(m1or m2),iceA allelic type(iceA1and iceA2)and babA gene(positive or negative),twenty different genotypic combinations were recognized.The prevalence of cagA,vacA s1,vacA s2,vacA m1,vacA m2,iceA1,iceA2,iceA1+iceA2and babA were 62%,78.9%,19.7%,21.1%,78.9%,15.5%,22.5%,40.8%and 95.8%,respectively.Interestingly,evaluation of PCR results for cagA in 6 patients showed simultaneous existence of cagA variants according to their size diversities that proposed mixed infection in these patients.The most prevalent genotype in cagA-positive isolates was cagA+/vacAs1m2/iceA1+A2/babA+and in cagA-negative isolates was cagA-/vacAs1m2/iceA-/babA+.There were no relationships between the studied genes and histo-pathological findings(H.pylori density,neutrophil activity,lymphoid aggregation in lamina propria and glandular atrophy).The strains which carry cagA,vacAs1/m1,iceA2and babA genes showed significant associations with severe active chronic gastritis(P=0.011,0.025,0.020 and 0.031,respectively).The vacAs1genotype had significant correlation with the presence of the cagA gene(P=0.013).Also,babA genotype showed associations with cagA(P=0.024).In the combined genotypes,only cagA+/vacAs1m1/iceA2/babA+genotype showed correlation with severe active chronic gastritis(P=0.025).CONCLUSION:This genotyping panel can be a useful tool for detection of virulent H.pylori isolates and can provide valuable guidance for prediction of the clinical outcomes. | Farzam Vaziri Shahin Najar Peerayeh Masoud Alebouyeh Tabassom Mirzaei Yoshio Yamaoka Mahsa Molaei Nader Maghsoudi Mohammad Reza Zali | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,34: | 5 |

| 10 | MITOCHONDRIAL REDOX IMAGING FOR CANCER DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC STUDIES显示文摘Mitochondrial redox states provide important information about energy-linked biological processes and signaling events in tissues for various disease phenotypes including cancer.The redox scanning method developed at the Chance laboratory about 30 years ago has allowed 3D highresolution(∼50×50×10µm^(3))imaging of mitochondrial redox state in tissue on the basis of the fluorescence of NADH(reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)and Fp(oxidized flavoproteins including flavin adenine dinucleotide,i.e.,FAD).In this review,we illustrate its basic principles,recent technical developments,and biomedical applications to cancer diagnostic and therapeutic studies in small animal models.Recently developed calibration procedures for the redox imaging using reference standards allow quantification of nominal NADH and Fp concentrations,and the concentration-based redox ratios,e.g.,Fp/(Fp+NADH)and NADH/(Fp+NADH)in tissues.This calibration facilitates the comparison of redox imaging results acquired for different metabolic states at different times and/or with different instrumental settings.A redox imager using a CCD detector has been developed to acquire 3D images faster and with a higher in-plane resolution down to 10µm.Ex vivo imaging and in vivo imaging of tissue mitochondrial redox status have been demonstrated with the CCD imager.Applications of tissue redox imaging in small animal cancer models include metabolic imaging of glioma and myc-induced mouse mammary tumors,predicting the metastatic potentials of human melanoma and breast cancer mouse xenografts,differentiating precancerous and normal tissues,and monitoring the tumor treatment response to photodynamic therapy.Possible future directions for the development of redox imaging are also discussed. | LIN Z.LI HE N.XU MAHSA RANJI SHOKO NIOKA BRITTON CHANCE | 2009 | Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2009,2,4: | 3 |

| 12 | Recurrence rates after endoscopic resection of large colorectal polyps:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Complete polyp resection is the main goal of endoscopic removal of large colonic polyps.Resection techniques have evolved in recent years and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)with margin ablation,cold snare polypectomy(CSP),cold EMR,and underwater EMR have been introduced.Yet,efficacy of these techniques with regard to local recurrence rates(LRRs)vs traditional hot snare polypectomy and standard EMR remains unclear.AIM To analyze LRR of large colonic polyps in a systematic review and meta-analysis.METHODS MEDLINE,EMBASE,EBM Reviews,and CINAHL were searched for prospective studies reporting LRR or incomplete resection rate(IRR)after colonic polypectomy of polyps≥10 mm,published between January 2011 and July 2021.Primary outcome was LRR for polyps≥10 mm.RESULTS Six thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight publications were identified,of which 34 prospective studies were included.LRR for polyps≥10 mm at up to 12 mo’follow-up was 11.0%(95%CI,7.1%-14.8%;15 studies;4904 polyps).ESD(1.7%;95%CI,0%-3.4%;3 studies,221 polyps)and endoscopic mucosal resection with margin ablation(3.3%;95%CI,2.2%-4.5%;2 studies,947 polyps)significantly reduced LRR vs standard EMR without(15.2%;95%CI,12.5%-18.0%;4 studies,650 polyps)or with unsystematic margin ablation(16.5%;95%CI,15.2%-17.8%;6 studies,3031 polyps).CONCLUSION LRR is significantly lower after ESD or EMR with routine margin ablation;thus,these techniques should be considered standard for endoscopic removal of large colorectal polyps.Other techniques,such as CSP,cold EMR,and underwater EMR require further evaluation in prospective studies before their routine implementation in clinical practice can be recommended. | Carola Rotermund Roupen Djinbachian Mahsa Taghiakbari Markus D Enderle Axel Eickhoff Daniel von Renteln | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,29: | 3 |

| 15 | Artificial intelligence-assisted colonoscopy:A review of current state of practice and research显示文摘Colonoscopy is an effective screening procedure in colorectal cancer prevention programs;however,colonoscopy practice can vary in terms of lesion detection,classification,and removal.Artificial intelligence(AI)-assisted decision support systems for endoscopy is an area of rapid research and development.The systems promise improved detection,classification,screening,and surveillance for colorectal polyps and cancer.Several recently developed applications for AIassisted colonoscopy have shown promising results for the detection and classification of colorectal polyps and adenomas.However,their value for real-time application in clinical practice has yet to be determined owing to limitations in the design,validation,and testing of AI models under real-life clinical conditions.Despite these current limitations,ambitious attempts to expand the technology further by developing more complex systems capable of assisting and supporting the endoscopist throughout the entire colonoscopy examination,including polypectomy procedures,are at the concept stage.However,further work is required to address the barriers and challenges of AI integration into broader colonoscopy practice,to navigate the approval process from regulatory organizations and societies,and to support physicians and patients on their journey to accepting the technology by providing strong evidence of its accuracy and safety.This article takes a closer look at the current state of AI integration into the field of colonoscopy and offers suggestions for future research. | Mahsa Taghiakbari Yuichi Mori Daniel von Renteln | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,47: | 2 |

| 20 | Polyacrylamide hydrogel application in sand control with compressive strength testing显示文摘Sand production is one of the major problems in sandstone reservoirs. Different mechanical and chemical methods have been proposed to control sand production. In this paper, we propose a chemical method based on using polyacrylamide/chromium triacetate hydrogel to investigate sand production in a synthetic sandpack system. To this end, a series of bulk experiments including the bottle test and rheological analysis along with compression tests were conducted. Experimental results indicated that the compressive strength of the sandpack was increased as much as 30 times by injecting 0.5 pore volume of hydrogel. Also, it was found that the increases in cross-linker and polymer concentrations exhibited a positive impact on the compressive strength of the sandpack, mostly by cross-linker concentration(48 psi). Hydrogel with a higher value of cross-linker could retain its viscoelastic properties against the strain which was a maximum of 122% for 0.5 weight ratio of cross-linker/polymer. The presence of salts, in particular divalent cations, has a detrimental effect on the hydrogel stability. The maximum strain value applied on hydrogel in the presence of CaCl_2 was only about 201% as compared to 1010% in the presence of distilled water. Finally, thermogravimetric analysis and its derivative showed that the hydrogel could retain its structure up to 300 °C.
