2Progress in the development of vaccines for hepatitis C virus infection显示文摘The hepatitis C virus(HCV), first described in 1989, is now a leading cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. With more than 170 million people infected globally, this virus is a major public health issue. The current standard therapy is based on interferon in combination with ribavirin. This costly therapy often fails to completely clear the infection and is associated with adverse side effects. Recent anti-HCV therapies are interferon-free direct-acting antiviral(DAA) regimens for HCV, including simeprevir, sofosbuvir, and ledipasvir, which have effects on non-structural proteins. DAA regimens have several advantages, such as specifically targeting HCV viral replication, accompanied by very high sustained virological response rates and lower side effects like flu-like syndrome. These facts plus the fact that most HCV cases progress to chronic infection suggest the potential need for an efficient HCV vaccine. Different innovative methods, including methods based on peptide, recombinant protein, DNA, vector-based, and virus-like particles, have been introduced for the development of HCV vaccines. An extensive number of studies have been published on these vaccines, and some vaccines were even tested in clinical trials. In the current review, progress in the development of preventive and therapeutic vaccines against the HCV is reviewed in the context of peptide vaccines, recombinant protein vaccines, HCV-like particle, DNA vaccines and viral vectors expressing HCV genes.Faezeh Ghasemi Sina Rostami Zahra Meshkat 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,42:6
3Effects of humidity on shear behavior of bamboo显示文摘Bamboo is a naturally occurring biological composite, however its microstructure and hence its properties are very complex compared to the manmade composites. Due to optimization, it can be assumed that the variation in properties along the thickness of the culm be a smooth transition for better bonding strength between layers and to prevent non uniformity in stress concentration. As a consequence,biological structures are complicated and functionally graded. Hence, a realistic model that can capture the mechanical performance of bamboo is valuable in future design of robust multifunctional composites.This paper presents the results of experimental and numerical studies on the torsional(shear) properties of bamboo. The hierarchical and multi-scale structure of bamboo and the distribution of micro-scale fibers are revealed via laser scanning and atomic force microscopy. This information was incorporated into a finite element model to analyze the mechanical behavior of bamboo under torsion and to estimate the shear modulus of bamboo along the fibers. Moreover, the effects of humidity and therefore water content on the mechanical properties of bamboo were evaluated by performing torsion tests on samples maintained in environments with different humidities. Increasing the humidity does not cause a drop in the shear modulus, however, a jump in the shear modulus did occur at around 60% humidity. Results of this study indicate that the highest strength values in samples occurred in environments with humidity levels between 60% and 80% and undergo a significant drop after that. 5Cutaneous leishmaniasis in Iran: Results from an epidemiological study in urban and rural provinces显示文摘Objective: To examine the prevalence and clinical manifestations of cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL) in Iran.Methods: This study was conducted in Iran between 2011 and 2013. Sampling, preparing, developing, and fixing of suspicious skin lesions were completed in healthcare centers in 31 Iranian provinces as well as in the Academic Reference Laboratory and the National Reference Laboratory. The information was then analyzed at the Ministry of Health's Information Management Center of Contagious Diseases.Results: Over a three-year period, the number of people identified with CL was 56 546.The highest incidence was reported in 2011(27.5 per 100 000). Wet CL accounted for 43.7% of cases while 43.3% resulted from sporotrichoid leishmaniasis. The results showed that there was a higher incidence of CL due to Leishmania major(50.2%) than to Leishmania tropica. The results of this study found that the highest incidence of CL had happened respectively in Ilam, Fars and, Khorasan Razavi Provinces between 2011 and 2013.Conclusions: Although the incidence of the disease is declining, CL is still a public health concern and disease control protocols need to be established. 7Circulation of Brucellaceae,Anaplasma and Ehrlichia spp.in borderline of Iran,Azerbaijan,and Armenia显示文摘Objective:To estimate the infection of ticks to Anaplasma,Ehrlichia,Babesia,Theileria,and Brucellaceae using molecular methods in borderline of Iran,Azerbaijan,and Armenia.Methods:Totally,2022 ticks were collected from different livestock.Then,species were diagnosed under stereomicroscope according to valid morphological keys.Tick DNA was extracted followed by PCR to detect Anaplasma,Ehrlichia,Theileria,Babesia and Brucellaceae infection in ticks.Results:A total of 498 males[24.62%(95%CI 22.76%-26.57%)],741 females[36.64%(95%CI 34.54%-38.79%)],782 nymphs[38.67%(95%CI 36.55%-40.84%)]and 1 larva[0.04%(95%CI 0.00%-0.28%)]were identified.Among identified samples,we found four genera including Hyalomma,Rhipicephalus,Haemaphysalis,and Dermacentor.Molecular assay revealed that the prevalence of ticks to Anaplasma or Ehrlichia,and Brucellaceae was 22.02%(95%CI 16.01%-29.06%)and 15.03%(95%CI 9.43%-22.26%),respectively.Phylogenetic analysis showed that the identified Anaplasma sp.had the most similarity with Anaplasma centrale,Anaplasma platys,Anaplasma camelii,and Anaplasma phagocytophilum,submitted in GenBank.Furthermore,the detected Ehrlichia sp.and Brucellaceae bacterium had the most similarity with Ehrlichia ruminantium and Mycoplana peli,respectively.However,no sign of the presence of Theileria and Babesia spp.was seen in the studied samples.Conclusions:Anaplasmosis,ehrlichiosis and brucellosis should be considered as important health threats in northwestern Iran and consistent monitoring on infection of ticks and livestock should be performed regularly.Rahimeh Abdoli Hasan Bakhshi Sedigheh Kheirandish Faezeh Faghihi Asadollah Hosseini-Chegeni Mohammad Ali Oshaghi Zakkyeh Telmadarraiy Mohammad Mehdi Sedaghat 2021Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2021,14,5:2

11Microstructural dependence of magnetic and magnetostrictive properties in Fe-19 at% Ga显示文摘A combination study of magnetic and magnetostrictive properties in directionally cast(DC)(un-annealed)and differently heat-treated Fe-19 at%Ga samples was carried out at room temperature.Slow cooling leads to an increase in the occupation of[200]easy magnetic axis.However,structural ordering of Ga atoms into a metastable D03 phase decreases the saturation magnetostriction(λs)and saturation magnetization(Ms),while increases coercivity(Hc).Water quenching suppresses the formation of stable fee ordered phase(L12)and largely preserves disordered bcc single-phase(A2)structure down to room temperature,leading to enhanced magnetostriction and magnetization.Slow cooling promotes the ordering of metastable bcc ordered phase(D03).Magnetic force microscopy(MFM)study exhibits that the water-quenched(WQ)sample consists of a well-aligned stripe domain structure,while irregular maze-like domain structure is observed in furnace-cooled(FC)sample.The results confirm that in addition to an inhibitory effect of D03 ordering on magnetic domain wall motions,irregular magnetic domains also contribute to decrease in magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of FC sample.Aliakbar Emdadi Syamak Hossein Nedjad Habib Badri Ghavifekr Majid Kavanlouei Faezeh Alijan Farzad Lahiji Vahid Ramezankhani 2020Rare Metals2020,39,4:1

20Cytotoxicity and Apoptosis Assay of Novel Cyclomyrsinol Diterpenes Against Breast Cancer Cell Lines显示文摘Background:Cyclomyrsinane diterpenes especially those extracted from various Euphorbia species have shown interesting biological properties in recent years.Because of the high prevalence of breast cancer and the challenges ahead in its treatment,the use of these compounds as potential anti cancer agents seem reasonable.Objectives:The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of some myrsinane type diterpenoids extracted from Euphorbia sogdiana Popov and determine their induced cell death mechanism.Methods:MTT assay was used to determine the cytotoxicity of six various myrsinane compounds on MCF 7 and 4 T1 breast cancer cell lines.Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were used as the normal cell line too.The apoptotic effects of the structure with the most cytotoxic effects were determined using flow cytometry assay in IC50 concentration for 24 h of incubation.Results:Compound(6)showed the most cytotoxic effects with IC50 of about 8±4 and 24±4μg/mL for MCF 7 and 4 T1 cell lines,respectively.Furthermore,the cells treated with 5 and 10μg/mL of compound(6)for 24 h,showed 37 and 55%of apoptotic cells.Conclusions:These surveyed compounds have the potential to be considered as useful anti-breast cancer agents due to the great cytotoxicity and apoptotic effects against these cancer cells and the fact that there was no significant cytotoxicity on normal cells.Faezeh Rabbani Zeinab Yazdiniapour Mustafa Ghanadian Behzad Zolfaghari Melika Maleki Fatemeh Shafiee 2022World Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,8,2:1
