1Multi-scale variability of the tropical Indian Ocean circulation system revealed by recent observations显示文摘The tropical Indian Ocean circulation system includes the equatorial and near-equatorial circulations, the marginal sea circulation, and eddies. The dynamic processes of these circulation systems show significant multi-scale variability associated with the Indian Monsoon and the Indian Ocean dipole. This paper summarizes the research progress over recent years on the tropical Indian Ocean circulation system based on the large-scale hydrological observations and numerical simulations by the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology(SCSIO), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Results show that:(1) the wind-driven Kelvin and Rossby waves and eastern boundary-reflected Rossby waves regulate the formation and evolution of the Equatorial Undercurrent and the Equatorial Intermediate Current;(2) the equatorial wind-driven dynamics are the main factor controlling the inter-annual variability of the thermocline in the eastern Indian Ocean upwelling;(3) the equatorial waves transport large amounts of energy into the Bay of Bengal in forms of coastal Kelvin and reflected free Rossby waves. Several unresolved issues within the tropical Indian Ocean are discussed:(i) the potential effects of the momentum balance and the basin resonance on the variability of the equatorial circulation system, and(ii) the potential contribution of wind-driven dynamics to the life cycle of the eastern Indian Ocean upwelling. 2Dielectric Properties of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) Ceramics by Impedance Spectroscopic Method显示文摘Various lead-free ceramics have been investigated in search for new high-temperature dielectrics. In particular, Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) is a type of ferroelectric ceramics, which is supposed to replace leadcontaining ceramics for its outstanding dielectric properties in the near future. Ferroelectric ceramics of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) made by conventional mixed oxide route have been studied by impedance spectroscopy in a wide range of temperature. X-ray diffraction patterns show that Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramics are a single-phase of ferroelectric Bi-layered perovskite structure whether it is calcined at 800 ℃ or after sintering production. This study focused on the effect of the grain size on the electric properties of BIT ceramics. The BIT ceramics with different grain sizes were prepared at different sintering temperatures. Grain becomes coarser with the sintering temperature increasing by 50 ℃, relative permittivity and dielectric loss also change a lot. When sintered at 1 100 ℃, r values peak can reach 205.40 at a frequency of 100 k Hz, the minimum dielectric losses of four different frequencies make no difference, all close to 0.027. The values of Ea range from 0.52 to 0.68 e V. The dielectric properties of the sample sintered at 1 100 ℃ are relatively better than those of the other samples by analyzing the relationship of the grain, the internal stresses, the homogeneity and the dielectric properties. SEM can better explain the results of the dielectric spectrum at different sintering temperatures. The results show that Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramics are a kind of dielectrics. 3Health Inequalities during 20 Years of Rapid Economic Development in China (1980-2000):A Mortality Analysis显示文摘Objective To examine the influence of China's economic reforms on population health and regional mortality rates.Methods Longitudinal study measuring the mortality trends and their regional variations.Using data from the three most recent national censuses,we used the model life table to adjust the mortality levels within the population for each census,and to calculate life expectancy.We then examined the variation in patterns of mortality and population health by economic status,region and gender from 1980-2000.Results Life expectancy varied with economic status,province,and gender.Results showed that,although life expectancy in China had increased overall since the early 1980s,regional differences became more pronounced.Life expectancy for populations who live in the eastern coastal provinces are greater than those in the western regions.Conclusion Differences in life expectancy are primarily related to differences in regional economic development,which in turn exacerbate regional health inequalities.Therefore,it is necessary to improve economic development in less developed regions and to improve health policies and the public health system that address the needs of everyone.ZHENG XiaoYing SONG XinMing CHEN Gong YOU YunZhong REN Qiang LIU JuFen ZHANG Lei TAN LingFang WEI JiHong CHEN QiuYuan 2011Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,4:2
4Heat contribution of the Indonesian throughflow to the Indian Ocean显示文摘Based on the high-resolution Eulerian fields of an ocean general circulation model simulation, the heat contribution of the Indonesian throughflow(ITF) to the Indian Ocean is estimated by Lagrangian tracing method.The heat transport of each particle of ITF waters is calculated by tracing temperature change along the trajectory until the particle exits the Indian Ocean. The simulation reveals that the ITF waters flow westward and branch near Madagascar, further showing the ITF waters are redistributed in both northern and southern Indian Ocean.Heat budget analysis indicates that the ITF waters gain 0.41 PW(Petawatts, 1015 W) in the northern Indian Ocean and lose 0.56 PW in the southern Indian Ocean, respectively. As a result, the ITF waters warm the whole Indian Ocean basin with only 0.15 PW, which shows an 'insignificant' role of ITF on the Indian Ocean because of the heat exchange compensation between northern and southern Indian Ocean. Furthermore, the tracing pathways show that the ITF waters mainly flow out the Indian Ocean at both sides of the basin via Agulhas Current and Leeuwin Current. About 89% of the ITF waters leave along western boundary and the rest 11% along eastern boundary. 5Programmed death ligand-1 regulates angiogenesis and metastasis by participating in the c-JUN/VEGFR2 signaling axis in ovarian cancer显示文摘Background:Although programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1)plays a wellknown function in immune checkpoint response by interacting with programmed cell death-1(PD-1),the cell-intrinsic role of PD-L1 in tumors is still unclear.Here,we explored the molecular regulatory mechanism of PD-L1 in the progression and metastasis of ovarian cancer.Methods:Immunohistochemistry of benign tissues and ovarian cancer samples was performed,followed by migration,invasion,and angiogenesis assays in PDL1-knockdown ovarian cancer cells.Immunoprecipitation,mass spectrometry,and chromatin immunoprecipitation were conducted along with zebrafish and mouse experiments to explore the specific functions and mechanisms of PD-L1 in ovarian cancer.Results:Our results showed that PD-L1 induced angiogenesis,which further promoted cell migration and invasion in vitro and in vivo of ovarian cancer.Mechanistically,PD-L1 was identified to directly interact with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2(VEGFR2)and then activated the FAK/AKT pathway,which further induced angiogenesis and tumor progression,leading to poor prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.Meanwhile,PD-L1 was found to be regulated by the oncogenic transcription factor c-JUN at the transcriptional level,which enhanced the expression of PD-L1 in ovarian cancer.Furthermore,we demonstrated that PD-L1 inhibitor durvalumab,combined with the antiangiogenic drug,apatinib,could enhance the effect of anti-angiogenesis and the inhibition of cell migration and invasion.Conclusion:Our results demonstrated that PD-L1 promoted the angiogenesis and metastasis of ovarian cancer by participating in the c-JUN/VEGFR2 signaling axis,suggesting that the combination of PD-L1 inhibitor and antiangiogenic drugs may be considered as a potential therapeutic approach for ovarian cancer patients.Yufei Yang Lingfang Xia Yong Wu Hongyu Zhou Xin Chen Haoran Li Midie Xu Zihao Qi Ziliang Wang Huizhen Sun Xi Cheng 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,6:1
6Highly Sensitive Refractive Index Sensor Based on Polymer Long-Period Waveguide Grating With Liquid Cladding显示文摘We propose a novel structure and unique sensing mechanism bio-chemical sensor which is fabricated by a polymer long-period waveguide grating with the detection liquid directly as the waveguide cladding.Quantitative detection is realized from analyzing the output absorption spectrum and resonant wavelength shift related to the liquid detection concentration.The proposed polymer long-period waveguide grating based liquid refractive-index sensor is developed experimentally,the high sensitivity of 1.01×10^4nm/RIU is achieved,and the temperature stability coefficient is 1.47nm/℃.Theoretically and experimentally,this work has been demonstrated to have potential application in chemical and biological detections and may provide an important technical support for solving today's increasingly serious civil problems such as food safety and drug safety, which will also have the important scientific significance and application prospects.Lingfang WANG Keyu REN Bao SUN Kaixin CHEN 2019Photonic Sensors2019,9,1:1

8Evaluating the effect of midpalatal corticotomy-assisted rapid maxillary expansion on the upper airway in young adults using computational fluid dynamics显示文摘Midpalatal corticotomy-assisted rapid maxillary expansion(MCRME)is a minimally invasive treatment of maxillary transverse deficiency(MTD)in young adults.However,the effect of MCRME on respiratory function still needs to be determined.In this study,we evaluated the changes in maxillary morphology and the upper airway following MCRME using computational fluid dynamics(CFD).Twenty patients with MTD(8 males,12 females;mean age 20.55 years)had cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)images taken before and after MCRME.The CBCT data were used to construct a threedimensional(3 D)upper airway model.The upper airway flow characteristics were simulated using CFD,and measurements were made based on the CBCT images and CFD.The results showed that the widths of the palatal bone and nasal cavity,and the intermolar width were increased significantly after MCRME.The volume of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx increased significantly,while there were no obvious changes in the volumes of the oropharynx and hypopharynx.CFD simulation of the upper airway showed that the pressure drop and maximum velocity of the upper airway decreased significantly after treatment.Our results suggest that in these young adults with MTD,increasing the maxillary width,upper airway volume,and quantity of airflow by MCRME substantially improved upper airway ventilation.Juan LI Lingfang SHI Xiayao ZHANG Luxi WENG Hong CHEN Jun LIN 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,2:1
9Optical spectroscopy study of Ca_3(Ru_(0.91)Mn_(0.09))_2O_7 single crystal in high magnetic fields显示文摘The magneto-optical spectrum, with magnetic fields up to 42 T, of double layered ruthenates Ca_3(Ru_(0.91)Mn_(0.09))_2O_7(CRMO) single crystal is studied. Both the temperature and magnetic field induced insulator-to-metal transitions(IMTs) are observed via magneto-optical properties of the crystal. The critical magnetic field(H//c) of IMT for CRMO is found to be as large as 35 T at 5 K. The fine structure of optical spectra identified the antiferromagnetic/ferro-orbital-ordering configurations of Ru 4d orbitals at low temperatures. Meanwhile, the configuration of orbital polarization of such double-layer CRMO single crystal is discussed. 10Exploiting flash memory characteristics to improve performance of RAIS storage systems显示文摘Redundant array of independent SSDs (RAIS) is generally based on the traditional RAID design and implementation. The random small write problem is a serious challenge of RAIS. Random small writes in parity-based RAIS systems generate significantly more pre-reads and writes which can degrade RAIS performance and shorten SSD lifetime. In order to overcome the well-known write-penalty problem in the parity-based RAID5 storage systems, several logging techniques such as Parity Logging and Data Logging have been put forward. However, these techniques are originally based on mechanical characteristics of the HDDs, which ignore the properties of the flash memory. In this article, we firstly propose RAISL, a flash-aware logging method that improves the small write performance of RAIS storage systems. RAISL writes new data instead of new data and pre-read data to the log SSD by making full use of the invalid pages on the SSD of RAIS. RAISL does not need to perform the pre-read operations so that the original characteristics of workloads are kept. Secondly, we propose AGCRL on the basis of RAISL to further boost performance. AGCRL combines RAISL with access characteristic to guide read and write cost regulation to improve the performance of RAIS storage systems. Our experiments demonstrate that the RAISL significantly improves write performance and AGCRL improves both of write performance and read performance. 12Fiber-specific increase of carotenoid content promotes cotton fiber elongation by increasing abscisic acid and ethylene biosynthesis显示文摘Cotton fiber is a raw material for the global textile industry and fiber quality is essential to its industrial application.Carotenoids are plant secondary metabolites that may serve as dietary components,regulate light harvesting,and scavenge reactive oxygen species.Although carotenoids accumulate predominantly in rapidly elongating cotton fibers,their roles in cotton fiber development remain poorly understood.In this study,a fiber-specific promoter proSCFP was applied to drive the expression of GhOR1Del,a positive regulator of carotenoid accumulation,to upregulate the carotenoid level in cotton fiber in planta.Fiber length,strength,and fineness were increased in proSCFP:GhOR1Del transgenic cotton and abscisic acid(ABA)and ethylene contents were increased in elongating fibers.The ABA downstream regulator GhbZIP27a stimulated the expression of the ethylene synthase gene GhACO3 by binding to its promoter,suggesting that ABA promoted fiber elongation by increasing ethylene production.These findings suggest the involvement of carotenoids and ABA signaling in promoting cotton fiber elongation and provide a strategy for improving cotton fiber quality.Jianyan Zeng Dan Yao Ming Luo Lingli Ding Yi Wang Xingying Yan Shu’e Ye Chuannan Wang Yiping Wu Jingyi Zhang Yaohua Li Lingfang Ran Yonglu Dai Yang Chen Fanlong Wang Hanyan Lai Nian Liu Nianjuan Fang Yan Pei Yuehua Xiao 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:0
13Ball Milling Synthesis and Property of Nd_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_3 Manganites显示文摘Strontium doped perovskite-type Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3 ceramics were synthesized completely by high-energy ball milling raw oxides of Nd2O3, SrCO3 and MnO2. The optimal ball milling time and mass ratio of milling balls to raw materials are 4 h and 10:1, respectively. The grain size of as-milled Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3 ceramics ranges from 51 to 93 nm, and the fine particles contain two phases of crystalline phase and amorphous phase. 14Low-Cost and Highly Sensitive Liquid Refractive Index Sensor Based on Polymer Horizontal Slot Waveguide显示文摘We analyze and explore the potential of using a polymer horizontal slot waveguide as light-analyte interactive region to implement a low-cost and highly sensitive liquid refractive index sensor.Numerical analysis shows that the optimized polymer horizontal slot waveguide is able to realize high waveguide sensitivity.With the optimized horizontal slot waveguide,polymer liquid refractive index sensors based on Mach-Zehnder interferometer(MZI)and microring resonator(MRR)are then investigated numerically,and the results show that the MZI-based sensor can achieve high sensitivity of 17024 nm/RIU and low limit of detection(LOD)of 1.76´10^(-6) RIU while the MRR-based sensor can achieve the sensitivity of 177 nm/RIU and the LOD of 1.69´10^(-4) RIU with a very small footprint.Compared with the sensors employing conventional silicon or silicon nitride vertical slot waveguide,the sensors employing polymer horizontal slot waveguide exhibit comparable performances but simpler and lower fabrication costs.Xiaoxia MA Kaixin CHEN Jieyun WU Lingfang WANG 2020Photonic Sensors2020,10,1:0
15H3‑T6SS of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14 contributes to environmental adaptation via secretion of a biofilm‑promoting effector显示文摘Microbial species often occur in complex communities and exhibit intricate synergistic and antagonistic interactions.To avoid predation and compete for favorable niches,bacteria have evolved specialized protein secretion systems.The type VI secretion system(T6SS)is a versatile secretion system widely distributed among Gram-negative bacteria that translocates effectors into target cells or the extracellular milieu via various physiological processes.Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen responsible for many diseases,and it has three independent T6SSs(H1-,H2-,and H3-T6SS).In this study,we found that the H3-T6SS of highly virulent P.aeruginosa PA14 is negatively regulated by OxyR and OmpR,which are global regulatory proteins of bacterial oxidative and acid stress.In addition,we identified a H3-T6SS effector PA14_33970,which is located upstream of VgrG3.PA14_33970 interacted directly with VgrG3 and translocated into host cells.Moreover,we found that H3-T6SS and PA14_33970 play crucial roles in oxidative,acid,and osmotic stress resistance,as well as in motility and biofilm formation.PA14_33970 was identified as a new T6SS effec-tor promoting biofilm formation and thus named TepB.Furthermore,we found that TepB contributes to the virulence of P.aeruginosa PA14 toward Caenorhabditis elegans.Overall,our study indicates that H3-T6SS and its biofilm-promot-ing effector TepB are regulated by OxyR and OmpR,both of which are important for adaptation of P.aeruginosa PA14 to multiple stressors,providing insights into the regulatory mechanisms and roles of T6SSs in P.aeruginosa.Yantao Yang Damin Pan Yanan Tang Jiali Li Kaixiang Zhu Zonglan Yu Lingfang Zhu Yao Wang Peng Chen Changfu Li 2022Stress Biology2022,2,1:0
16The influence of Bi content on dielectric properties of Bi_(4-x)Ti_(3)O_(12-1.5x) ceramics显示文摘A kind of lead-free dielectric materials,such as the bismuth layered perovskite-type structure of Bi4-xTi3O12-1.5x(x=0.04,0.02,0,-0.02,-0.04),was prepared by the conventional solid-state method at 800C and sintered at 1100C.The variation of structure and electrical properties with different Bi concentration was studied.All the Bi4-xTi3O12-1.5x(x=0.04,0.02,0,-0.02,-0.04)samples exhibited a single structured phase.SEM could be a better approach to present the microstructure of Bi4-xTi3O12-1.5x(x=0.04,0.02,0,-0.02,-0.04)ceramics.It could be found that the grain size of Bi4.02Ti3O12.03 sintered at 1100C was smaller than that of others among the five samples through grain size mechanics.Through impedance spectra analysis,we knew,when the Bi content was fixed,that the dielectric constant and the loss values increased with the decrease of frequency.The Curie temperature of the five samples was about 670C.In particular,while at the frequency of 100 kHz,the lowest loss was 0.001 when Bi content was 3.98.The Bi4.02Ti3O12.03 ceramics with the minimum grain size had highest dielectric constant and the relatively low loss.Due to its high Curie temperature,high permittivity and low loss,the Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12)(BIT)ceramics have a broad application prospect in high density memory,generator,sensor,ferroelectric tunnel junctions and so on.Hui Gong Xiying Ke Shuqin Yang Zhaozhi Li Huyin Su Cancan Zhang Qian Luo Qi Chen Lingfang Xu Yong Chen Wei Wang 2017Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2017,7,3:0
