| 4 | Comparative Effect of Propolis of Honey Bee and Some Herbal Extracts on Candida Albicans显示文摘Objective: To determine the effect of propolis on Candida albicans and to compare it with the effects of some other herbal extracts and antibiotics on this pathogenic fungi. Methods: The extracts of propolis, Thymus vulgaris, Caryophillium aromaticus, Echinophora platyloba, Allium cepa and Cinnamomum zeylanicumwere prepared and the antifungi effects of the extracts were examined on Candida albicans ATCC10231 using disc-diffusion assay and micro-broth dilution. The minimum fungicidal concentration(MFC) and minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC) as well as inhibition zone were evaluated and the anti fungi effects of herbal extracts were compared with amphotricin B and nystatin at the times of 24, 48 and 72 h. Data analysis was performed using t test. Results: Obtained results showed that propolis extract with MIC90 and MFC equal to 39 and 65 μg/mL, respectively, possess the highest antifungal activity when compared with other studied extracts. The extracts of Allium cepa and Thymus vulgaris, with MFC of 169 and 137 μg/mL, respectively, showed the lowest effects on the fungi. Also nystatin and amphotricin B yielded better effects on the tested fungi compared with the effects of all studied extracts on Candida albicans. Conclusions: Propolis extract is effective in controlling Candida albicans. | 19 | A new robust predictive model for lost circulation rate using convolutional neural network:A case study from Marun Oilfield显示文摘A major cause of some of serious issues encountered in a drilling project,including wellbore instability,formation damage,and drilling string stuck e which are known to increase non-productive time(NPT)and hence the drilling cost e is what we know as mud loss.The mud loss can be prevented or at least significantly reduced by taking proper measures beforehand provided the position and intensity of such loss can be properly predicted using an accurate predictor model.Accordingly,in this study,we used the convolutional neural network(CNN)and hybridized forms of multilayer extreme learning machine(MELM)and least square support vector machine(LSSVM)with the Cuckoo optimization algorithm(COA),particle swarm optimization(PSO),and genetic algorithm(GA)for modeling the mud loss rate based on drilling data,mud properties,and geological information of 305 drilling wells penetrating the Marun Oilfield.For this purpose,we began by a pre-processing step to attenuate the effect of noise using the Savitzky-Golay method.The whole set of available data was divided into the modeling(including 2300 data points)and the validation(including 483 data points)subsets.Next,the second generation of the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm(NSGA-Ⅱ)was applied to the modeling data to identify the most significant features for estimating the mud loss.The results showed that the prediction accuracy increased with the number of selected features,but the increase became negligible when the number of selected features exceeded 9.Accordingly,the following 9 features were selected as input to the intelligent algorithms(IAs):pump pressure,mud weight,fracture pressure,pore pressure,depth,gel 10 min/gel 10 s,fan 600/fan 300,flowrate,and formation type.Application of the hybrid algorithms and simple forms of LSSVM and CNN to the training data(80%of the modeling data,i.e.1840 data points)showed that all of the models tend to underestimate the mud loss at higher mud loss rates,although the CNN exhibited lower underestimation levels.Error analysis on different models showed that the CNN provided for a significantly higher degree of accuracy,as compared to other models.The more accurate outputs of the hybrid LSSVM model than those of the simple LSSVM indicated the large potentials of metaheuristic algorithms for achieving optimal solutions.The lower error levels obtained with the CNN model in the testing phase highlighted the excellent generalizability of this model for unseen data.The more accurate predictions obtained with this model,rather than the other models,in the validation phase further proved this latter finding.Therefore,application of this method to other wells in the same field is highly recommended. | Farshad Jafarizadeh Babak Larki Bamdad Kazemi Mohammad Mehrad Sina Rashidi Jalil Ghavidel Neycharan Mehdi Gandomgoun Mohammad Hossein Gandomgoun | 2023 | Petroleum2023,9,3: | 0 |
| 20 | Green coffee bean hydroalcoholic extract accelerates wound healing in full-thickness wounds in rabbits显示文摘Background:Green coffee beans contain biochemical compounds including caffeine,chlorogenic acid,trigonelline,and diterpenoid alcohols.In traditional Iranian medicine,coffee bean powder is used for the treatment of wounds.Previous studies have shown that green coffee bean extract has a number of health benefits,including induction of weight loss,reduced blood pressure,and hepatoprotective and anti-Parkinson effects.The aim of this study was to investigate the wound-healing activity of green coffee bean extract on a full-thickness wound model.Methods:Full-thickness wounds of 20×20 mm were created on the back of New Zealand white rabbits.The animals were divided into 6 groups.Three concentrations of green coffee bean extract(5%,10%,and 15%w/w)in a eucerin base were applied over the wounds in 3 test groups.One percent phenytoin cream was used in one group as a positive control.The rabbits of negative control and vehicle groups received no treatment and eucerin,respectively.For the evaluation of green coffee bean extract’s wound-healing effects,measures included:(1)wound-closure rate,by daily measuring of the wound surface area and calculating the reduction in area;(2)period of epithelialization,the number of days until the scab dropped from the wound;(3)hydroxyproline content,measured by a hydroxyproline assay kit;(4)lipid peroxidation,measured by a lipid peroxidation assay kit;and(5)histopathological state(hematoxylin-eosin stain)of wound-tissue samples on days 7 and 14 post-wounding.Results:The results of this study showed significantly enhanced wound-closure rate,shorter period of epithelialization(P<0.01),increased hydroxyproline content(P<0.001)and suppressed lipid peroxidation(P<0.001 on day 14)of wounds on animals treated with the 10%green coffee bean extract compared to the negative control and eucerin-treated groups.Moreover,the therapeutic effects of 10%green coffee bean were significantly superior than those of phenytoin on enhancing wound-closure rate,decreasing period of epithelialization(P<0.05),increasing hydroxyproline content(P<0.001 on day 7 and P<0.0001 on day 14)and suppressing lipid peroxidation(P<0.0001 on day 14).In addition,histopathological study supported the wound healing activity of green coffee bean extract.Conclusion:Our results showed that green coffee bean extract has a potential for promoting wound healing,thus supporting its traditional use for this purpose. | Reza Shahriari Pari Tamri Amir Larki Harchegani Alireza Nourian | 2020 | Traditional Medicine Research2020,5,6: | 0 |
