| 4 | Danggui Buxue decoction ameliorates lipid metabolic defects involved in the initiation of diabetic atherosclerosis;identification of active compounds显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the constituent compounds of Danggui buxue decoction(DBD) involved and the potential mechanisms mediating its effects, with specific reference to lipids playing a role in the initiation of diabetic atherosclerosis.METHODS: Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used to identify and quantify the absorbed bioactive compounds(ABCs) present in DBD. Goto-Kakizaki(GK) rats were randomly allocated to a diabetes atherosclerosis(DA) group, a DBD group, and an ABC group(10 per group), which were all high-fat diet-fed. The treated rats were administered DBD(4 g/kg) or ABCs(in amounts equal to those present in DBD) once daily for 28 d, and a control group of Wistar rats were administered vehicle. Body mass gain, fasting blood glucose, and homeostasis assessment of insulin resistance(HOMAIR) were measured. Serum triglyceride(TG), cholesterol(CHOL), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDLC) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) concentrations were determined. Hematoxylin and eosin staining and microscopy were used to characterize the abdominal aorta and the expression of lipogenic genes was quantified in this vessel.RESULTS: Seven ABCs were identified in rat serum:ferulic acid, formononetin, calycosin, astragaloside,caffeic acid, ligustilide, and butyphthalide. DBD significantly reduced HOMA-IR, the serum concentrations of TG, CHOL, and LDL-C, and the expression of the lipogenic genes monocyte chemotactic protein1, Fas, intercellular adhesion molecule 1, and Cd36 in aorta;and significantly increased the mRNA expression of Scd1 in aorta.CONCLUSION: DBD affects lipid metabolism in the early stage of atherosclerosis in diabetic GK rats,with the mechanism likely involving the regulation of lipid metabolic genes in vessels. | 5 | Interactive effects of soil temperature and moisture on soil N mineralization in a Stipa krylovii grassland in Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘Determining soil N mineralization response to soil temperature and moisture changes is challenging in the field due to complicated effects from other factors. In the laboratory, N mineralization is highly dependent on temperature, moisture and sample size. In this study, a laboratory incubation experiment was carefully designed and conducted under controlled conditions to examine the effects of soil temperature and moisture on soil N mineralization using soil samples obtained from the Stipa krylovii grassland in Inner Mongolia, China. Five temperature(i.e. 9°C, 14°C, 22°C, 30°C and 40°C) and five moisture levels(i.e. 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% WHC, where WHC is the soil water holding capacity) were included in a full-factorial design. During the 71-day incubation period, microbial biomass carbon(MBC), ammonium nitrogen(NH4 +-N) and nitrate nitrogen(NO3--N) were measured approximately every 18 days; soil basal respiration for qCO2 index was measured once every 2 days(once a week near the end of the incubation period). The results showed that the mineral N production and net N mineralization rates were positively correlated with temperature; the strongest correlation was observed for temperatures between 30°C and 40°C. The relationships between moisture levels and both the mineral N production and net N mineralization rates were quadratic. The interaction between soil temperature and moisture was significant on N mineralization, i.e. increasing temperatures(moisture) enhanced the sensitivity of N mineralization to moisture(temperature). Our results also showed a positive correlation between the net nitrification rate and temperature, while the correlation between the NH4 +-N content and temperature was insignificant. The net nitrification rate was negatively correlated with high NH4 +-N contents at 80%–100% WHC, suggesting an active denitrification in moist conditions. Moreover, qCO2 index was positively correlated with temperature, especially at 80% WHC. | 6 | Double-composite rectangular truss bridge and its joint analysis显示文摘This paper describes a novel composite tubular truss bridge with concrete slab and concrete-filled rectangular chords. With concrete slab plus truss system and joints reinforced with concrete and Perfobond Leiste rib, double composite truss bridge proved to be a fairly suitable solution in negative moment area. Perfobond Leiste shear connector(PBL) is widely implemented in the composite structure for its outstanding fatigue resistance. In this pilot bridge, Perfobond Leister ribs(PBR) were installed in the truss girder's joints,which played double roles as shear connector and stiffener. An erection method and overall bridge structural analysis were then presented. Typical joints in the pilot bridge were selected to analyze the effect of PBR. Investigation of the effect of PBR in concretefilled tubular joints was elaborated. Comparison has revealed that concrete-filled tubular joints with PBR have much higher constraint capability than joints without PBR. For rectangular tubular truss, the punching shear force of the concrete filled joint with PBR is approximately 43% larger than that of the joint without PBR. Fatigue performance of the joint installed with PBR was improved, which was found through analysis of the stress concentration factor of joint. The PBR installed in the joints mitigated the stress concentration factor in the chord face. | 10 | Effects of Qizhukangxian granules on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis:a randomized,double blind,placebo-controlled and multicenter clinical pilot trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of Qizhukangxian granules(QG)on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF).METHODS:This is a randomized,double blind,placebo-controlled and multicenter clinical pilot trial.Six medical centers in Tianjin,China,participated in the study.A total of 120 IPF patients were enrolled and randomized into two groups,with 60 patients in each group.The treatment group was treated with QG,while the control group received a Qizhukangxian placebo.The pharmacological treatment lasted for 48 weeks from the enrollment date.The indexes of patients were recorded on the admission day and at the end of the 24th and 48th weeks.Data were analyzed to study the effects of QG;forced vital capacity,change in forced vital capacity and maximal 6-min walk test(6MWT)distance were the primary endpoints.Secondary endpoints were percentage of patients with episodes of acute exacerbation of IPF,pulmonary function,changes in pulse oxygen saturation during the 6MWT,dyspnea score,St.George's respiratory questionnaire score,arterial blood gas analyses and the total Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom pattern score.RESULTS:After 24 weeks of treatment,QG showed greater efficacy than the placebo in certain parameters,including the dyspnea score,Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom pattern score and some indicators in the St.George's respiratory questionnaire score.Analysis of the indexes obtained from all patients at the end of the 48th week showed that the therapeutic effects in the treatment group were significantly better than those in the control group because remarkable differences were observed in most of the primary and secondary endpoints between the two groups,except for the maximal distance of the 6MWT and arterial blood gas analyses.No adverse reaction was observed in either group during the 48-week trial treatment period.CONCLUSION:QG could effectively treat IPF patients by ameliorating pulmonary function,improving the quality of life and lowering the percentage of acute exacerbations. | Guo Sijia Song Yalin Feng Jihong Liu Shuang Li Yuechuan Liu Min Wei Luqing Zhang Xian Xie Hui Sun Zengtao | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4: | 3 |

| 20 | Cenozoic Vertical-Axis Rotations of the Hoh Xil Basin, Central–Northern Tibet显示文摘Understanding the Cenozoic vertical-axis rotation in the Tibetan Plateau is crucial for continental dynamic evolution. Paleomagnetic and rock magnetic investigations were carried out for the Oligocene and Miocene continental rocks of the Hoh Xil basin in order to better understand the tectonic rotations of central Tibet. The study area was located in the Tongtianhe area located in the southern part of the Hoh Xil basin and northern margin of the Tanggula thrust system in central-northern Tibet. A total of 160 independently oriented paleomagnetic samples were drilled from the Tongtianhe section for this study. The magnetic properties of magnetite and hematite have been recognized by measurements of magnetic susceptibility vs. temperature curves and unblocking temperatures. The mean directions of the Oligocene Yaxicuo Group in stratigraphic coordinates(Declination/Inclination = 354.9°/29.3°, k = 33.0, α_(95) = 13.5°, N =5 Sites) and of the Miocene Wudaoliang Group in stratigraphic coordinates(Declination/Inclination = 3.6°/36.4°, k = 161.0, α_(95) = 9.7°, N =3 Sites) pass reversal tests, indicating the primary nature of the characteristic magnetizations. Our results suggested that the sampled areas in the Tuotuohe depression of the Hoh Xil basin have undergone no paleomagnetically detectable rotations under single thrusting from the Tanggula thrust system. Our findings, together with constraints from other tectonic characteristics reported by previous paleomagnetic studies, suggest tectonic rotations in the Cuoredejia and Wudaoliang depressions of the Hoh Xil basin were affected by strike-slip faulting of the Fenghuo Shan-Nangqian thrust systems.
