Tuning the particle size and morphology of high energetic material nanocrystals显示文摘Morphology controlled synthesis of nanoparticles of powerful high energetic compounds(HECs) such as l,3,5-trinitro-l,3,5-triazinane(RDX) and 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-l,3,5,7-tetrazocane(HMX) were achieved by a simple solvent—antisolvent interaction(SAI) method at 70 ℃.The effects of different solvents on particle size and morphology of the prepared nano-HECs were studied systematically.Particle size and morphology of the nano-HECs was characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) imaging.X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy studies revealed that RDX and HMX were precipitated in their most stable polymorphic forms,i.e.a and P,respectively.Thermogravimetric analysis coupled with differential scanning calorimetry(TGA-DSC) studies showed that the thermal response of the nanoparticles was similar to the respective raw-HECs.HEC nanoparticles with spherical and rod shaped morphology were observed under different solvent conditions. The mean particle size also varied considerably with the use of different solvents.Raj KUMAR Prem Felix SIRIL Pramod SONI 2015Defence Technology(防务技术)2015,11,4:7
Clinical implications of diabetes in chronic liver disease:Diagnosis, outcomes and management, current and future perspectives显示文摘Diabetes mellitus(DM)is common in liver cirrhosis(LC).The pathophysiological association is bidirectional.DM is a risk factor of LC and LC is a diabetogenic condition. In the recent years, research on different aspects of the association DM and LC has been intensified.Nevertheless,it has been insufficient and still exist many gaps. The aims of this review are:(1)To discuss the latest understandings of the association of DM and LC in order to identify the strategies of early diagnosis;(2)To evaluate the impact of DM on outcomes of LC patients;and(3)To select the most adequate management benefiting the two conditions.Literature searches were conducted using Pub Med,Ovid and Scopus engines for DM and LC,diagnosis, outcomes and management. The authors also provided insight from their own published experience.Based on the published studies, two types of DM associated with LC have emerged:Type 2 DM(T2 DM)and hepatogenous diabetes(HD).High-quality evidences have determined that T2 DM or HD significantly increase complications and death pre and post-liver transplantation.HD has been poorly studied and has not been recognized as a complication of LC.The management of DM in LC patients continues to be difficult and should be based on drug pharmacokinetics and the degree of liver failure. In conclusion, the clinical impact of DM in outcomes of LC patients has been the most studied item recently.Nevertheless many gaps still exist particularly in the management. These most important gaps were highlighted in order to propose future lines for research.Diego García-Compeán Emanuela Orsi Ramesh Kumar Felix Gundling Tsutomu Nishida Jesús Zacarías Villarreal-Pérez Ángel N Del Cueto-Aguilera JoséA González-González Giuseppe Pugliese 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,8:4

Ground motion parameters of Shillong plateau: One of the most seismically active zones of northeastern India显示文摘Strong ground motion parameters for Shillong plateau of northeastern India are examined. Empirical relations are obtained for main parameters of ground motions as a function of earthquake magnitude, fault type, source depth, velocity characterization of medium and distance. Correlation between ground motion parameters and characteristics of seismogenic zones are established. A new attenuation relation for peak ground acceleration is developed, which predicts higher expected PGA in the region. Parameters of strong motions, particularly the predominant periods and duration of vibrations, depend on the morphology of the studied area. The study measures low estimates of logarithmic width in Shillong plateau. The attenuation relation estimated for pulse width critically indicates increased pulse width dependence on the logarithmic distance which accounts for geometrical spreading and anelastic attenuation.Saurabh Baruah Santanu Baruah Naba Kumar Gogoi Olga Erteleva Felix Aptikaev J. 15Alternative models of cancer stem cells: The stemness phenotype model, 10 years later显示文摘The classical cancer stem cell(CSCs)theory proposed the existence of a rare but constant subpopulation of CSCs.In this model cancer cells are organized hierarchically and are responsible for tumor resistance and tumor relapse. Thus, eliminating CSCs will eventually lead to cure of cancer. This simplistic model has been challenged by experimental data.In 2010 we proposed a novel and controversial alternative model of CSC biology(the Stemness Phenotype Model,SPM).The SPM proposed a non-hierarchical model of cancer biology in which there is no specific subpopulation of CSCs in tumors.Instead, cancer cells are highly plastic in term of stemness and CSCs and non-CSCs can interconvert into each other depending on the microenvironment. This model predicts the existence of cancer cells ranging from a pure CSC phenotype to pure non-CSC phenotype and that survival of a single cell can originate a new tumor.During the past 10 years,a plethora of experimental evidence in a variety of cancer types has shown that cancer cells are indeed extremely plastic and able to interconvert into cells with different stemness phenotype. In this review we will(1)briefly describe the cumulative evidence from our laboratory and others supporting the SPM;(2)the implications of the SPM in translational oncology;and(3)discuss potential strategies to develop more effective therapeutic regimens for cancer treatment.Vivek Kaushik Yogesh Kulkarni Kumar Felix Neelam Azad Anand Krishnan V Iyer Juan Sebastian Yakisich 2021World Journal of Stem Cells2021,13,7:0
Ion emission from warm dense matter produced by irradiation with a soft x-ray free-electron laser显示文摘We report on an experiment performed at the FLASH2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric heating. In the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted Maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution model. We find that most emitted ions are thermal, but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface, such as protons, are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped electrons. The morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying temperatures. We find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.Josef Krása Tomás Burian Vera Hájková Jaromír Chalupský Šimon Jelínek Katerina Frantálová Michal Krupka Zuzana Kuglerová Sushil Kumar Singh Vojtech Vozda Ludek Vysín MichalŠmíd Pablo Perez-Martin Marion Kühlman Juan Pintor Jakub Cikhardt Matthias Dreimann Dennis Eckermann Felix Rosenthal Sam M.Vinko Alessandro Forte Thomas Gawne Thomas Campbell Shenyuan Ren YuanFeng Shi Trevor Hutchinson Oliver Humphries Thomas Preston Mikako Makita Motoaki Nakatsutsumi Xiayun Pan Alexander Köhler Marion Harmand Sven Toleikis Katerina Falk Libor Juha 2024Matter and Radiation at Extremes2024,9,1:0
Case Studies on Acupuncture Principles in Headaches显示文摘Objective:This observational cohort pilot study aimed to evaluate the effects of the acupuncture methods,Jiu Cang Zhen(JCZ)and Huang Guan(HG),on changes in headache intensity in an inpatient, multimodal Zurzach Headache Programme(ZHP).Methods:Study participants consisted of patients diagnosed with chronic headache disorder(headache ds,30 days per month)or daily persistent headache. All patients received conventional therapies with active and passive approaches. The patient group was treated with JCZ and HG acupuncture methods, receiving a total of six to eight acupuncture sessions of 50 to 60 minutes each, during a 3–4-week multimodal ZHP at the RehaClinic Bad Zurzach.Pain intensity was quantified using a Numerical Rating Scale(NRS)before and after each acupuncture therapy session. Results:Ten patients were recruited, six women and four men, with a mean age of 41.7(standard deviation,[SD]=13.9).A reduction in headache intensity was reported by all patients in each of the sessions. The average NRS for pain was 4.21(SD=1.44)before acupuncture and 1.24(SD=0.93)after acupuncture(means first by number of sessions, then per n=10 patients). This resulted in a mean difference of 2.97(SD=1.04),corresponding to a standardized response mean of 2.85(95%confidence interval:2.11–3.60,one-tailed P<0.001),meaning there was a large effect. Conclusions:This pilot study shows that JCZ and HG are suitable acupuncture methods for reducing headache intensity in the treatment of headaches.A comparison with the conventional classical acupuncture methods from the acupuncture textbook for traditional Chinese medicine students in China, exploration with a larger patient group, and prolonged monitoring of pain behavior could be foci of follow-up investigations.Saroj Kumar Pradhan Andreas Rudolf Gantenbein Yi-Ming Li Sebastian Frese Susanne Lehmann Felix Angst 2021Chinese Medicine and Culture2021,4,2:0
