A Comparative Assessment of Temperature Data from Different Sources for Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India显示文摘A comparative study of extreme temperature parameters from different sources is carried out by examining standardized anomalies, trends, correlation, and equivalence of datasets. Maximum temperature(T_(max))and minimum temperature(Tmin) for Dehradun, from two different sources such as computed and gridded data from Climatic Research Unit(CRU) and observed data from India Meteorological Department(IMD)are used for 1901–2012. The CRU data are compared initially with IMD, by graphical assessment of standardized anomalies. Subsequently, change points are identified by using Cumulative Sum(CUSUM)-chart technique for trend analysis. The magnitude and significance of trends are determined by applying Sen's slope test, and on the basis of these, trends are compared. Further, correlation analysis is carried out and datasets are tested for equivalence by using Wilcoxon–Mann–Whitney test. The result shows that annual standardized anomalies of CRU data follow the pattern of annual standardized anomalies of IMD data. The CRU data exhibit similar trends and are well correlated with IMD dataset. Moreover, CRU anomaly data are identical with IMD anomaly data in the recent decades. High resolution gridded CRU data have open access and may be more useful due to its spatio-temporal continuity for land areas of the world. | Atul Kant PIYOOSH Sanjay Kumar GHOSH | 2016 | Journal of Meteorological Research2016,30,6: | 3
Review on the phosphate-based conversion coatings of magnesium and its alloys显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)and its alloys are lightweight as well as biocompatible and possess a high strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for many industries, including aerospace, automobile, and medical. The major challenge is their high susceptibility to corrosion, thereby limiting their usability. The considerably lower reduction potential of Mg compared to other metals makes it vulnerable to galvanic coupling. The oxide layer on Mg offers little corrosion resistance because of its high porosity, inhomogeneity, and fragility.Chemical conversion coatings(CCs)belong to a distinct class because of underlying chemical reactions, which are fundamentally different from other types of coating.Typically,a CC acts as an intermediate sandwich layer between the base metal and an aesthetic paint.Although chromate CCs offer superior performance compared to phosphate CCs,yet still they release carcinogenic hexavalent chromium ions(Cr^(6+));therefore,their use is prohibited in most European nations under the Registration,Evaluation,Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals legislation framework.Phosphate-based CCs are a cost-effective and environment-friendly alternative.Accordingly, this review primarily focuses on different types of phosphate-based CCs,such as zinc, calcium,Mg,vanadium, manganese, and permanganate. It discusses their mechanisms, current status, pretreatment practices, and the influence of various parameters-such as pH,temperature, immersion time, and bath composition-on the coating performance. Some challenges associated with phosphate CCs and future research directions are also elaborated. | Debasis Saran Atul Kumar Sivaiah Bathula David Klaumünzer Kisor K Sahu | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,7: | 2
Tandem rapid manufacturing of Inconel-625 using laser assisted and plasma transferred arc depositions显示文摘This paper presents an investigation on deposition of Inconel-625 using laser rapid manufacturing(LRM) and plasma transferred arc(PTA) deposition in individual and tandem mode.LRM has advantages in terms of dimensional accuracy, improved mechanical properties, finer process control, reduced heat input and lower thermal distortion, while PTA scores more in terms of lower initial investment, lower running cost and higher deposition rate.To quantify the clubbed advantages and limitations of both processes, these were studied individually and in tandem.A number of samples were deposited at different process parameters like power, scan speed, powder feed rate. They were subjected to tensile test,adhesion-cohesion test, impact test and micro hardness measurement. The results of individual tests showed the comparable mechanical properties with±20%variation.The mixed dendritic-cellular and dendritic-columnar microstructures were respectively observed for LRM and PTA deposits with a distinct interface for the case of tandem deposition. The interface strength of tandem deposits was evaluated employing adhesion-cohesion test, and it was found to be(325±35) MPa.The study confirmed the viability of LRM and PTA deposition in tandem for hybrid manufacturing. | P.Bhargava C.P.Paul C.H.Premsingh S.K.Mishra Atul Kumar D.C.Nagpure Gurvinderjit Singh L.M.Kukreja | 2013 | Advances in Manufacturing2013,1,4: | 2
Fabrication of Graphitic Carbon Nitride-Based Film:An Emerged Highly Efficient Catalyst for Direct C-H Arylation under Solar Light显示文摘Main observation and conclusion Photoredox C-H bond formation can proceed in aerobic environment under solar light and has therefore become attractive.Nowa-days,different types of expensive novel metal complexes and nanomaterials have been urbanized as photocatalysts for direct C-H bond formation in between derivatives of heteroarenes(HAs)and aryl diazonium salts. These photocatalysts, however, still suffer from poor stability, high cost, and decay.Herein,a graphitic carbon nitride-based fluorescein isothiocyanate(g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC)film pho-tocatalyst has been reported, which shows ecellent light harvesting ability, and band gap suitability to catalyze the metal free direct C-H arylation of HAs under solar light at ambient temperature. Moreover, the g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC film photocatalyst can be reused four times without significant loss of activity, confirming the excellent photocatalytic stability. The current strategy to constructa g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC film photocatalyst for direct C-H arylation opens a new path towards replacing metal-based catalysts in fine chemical Sy nthesis. | Surabhi Chaubey Rajesh K.Yadav Tae Wu Kim Tara Chand Yadav Abhishek Kumar D.K.Dwivedi B.K.Pandey Atul P.Singh | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,3: | 2
Active Learning Query Strategies for Classification,Regression, and Clustering:A Survey显示文摘Generally, data is available abundantly in unlabeled form, and its annotation requires some cost. The labeling,as well as learning cost, can be minimized by learning with the minimum labeled data instances.Active learning(AL),learns from a few labeled data instances with the additional facility of querying the labels of instances from an expert annotator or oracle. The active learner uses an instance selection strategy for selecting those critical query instances, which reduce the generalization error as fast as possible. This process results in a refined training dataset, which helps in minimizing the overall cost. The key to the success of AL is query strategies that select the candidate query instances and help the learner in learning a valid hypothesis. This survey reviews AL query strategies for classification, regression, and clustering under the pool-based AL scenario. The query strategies under classification are further divided into:informative-based,representative-based,informative-and representative-based,and others. Also, more advanced query strategies based on reinforcement learning and deep learning, along with query strategies under the realistic environment setting, are presented. After a rigorous mathematical analysis of AL strategies, this work presents a comparative analysis of these strategies. Finally, implementation guide, applications, and challenges of AL are discussed. | Punit Kumar Atul Gupta | 2020 | Journal of Computer Science & Technology2020,35,4: | 2

Evaluating role of bone marrow-derived stem cells in dry age-related macular degeneration using multifocal electroretinogram and fundus autofluorescence imaging显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of bone marrow-derived stem cells in the treatment of advanced dry age-related macular degeneration(AMD) using multifocal electroretinogram(mf-ERG) and fundus autofluorescence imaging.METHODS:Thirty patients(60 eyes) with bilateral central geographic atrophy(GA) were recruited.Worse eye of each patient received autologous bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells(BM-HSCs)(group 1) and the fellow eye with better visual acuity served as control(group 2).The effect of stem cell therapy was determined in terms of visual acuity, amplitude and implicit time in mf-ERG and size of GA on fundus autofluorescence imaging. These tests were performed at presentation and first, third and sixth month follow up.Adverse events(if any) were also monitored.RESULTS:At 6 mo follow-up there was no statistically significant improvement in median log MAR best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) in either group.Mf-ERG revealed significant improvement in amplitude and implicit time in the intervention group.A significant decrease was also noted in greatest linear dimension(GLD) of GA in the eyes receiving stem cells [6.78±2.60 mm at baseline to 6.56±2.59 mm at 6 mo(P=0.021)].However,no such improvement was noted in the control group.CONCLUSION:Electrophysiological and anatomical improvement in the intervention group sheds light on the therapeutic role of BM-HSCs.Further studies are required to determine the stage of disease at which the maximal benefit can be achieved and to standardize the dose and frequency of stem cell injection. | Atul Kumar Neha Midha Sujata Mohanty Annu Chohan Tulika Seth Varun Gogia Shikha Gupta | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017,10,10: | 1

Organo-Petrographic and Pore Facets of Permian Shale Beds of Jharia Basin with Implications to Shale Gas Reservoir显示文摘The shale deposits of Damodar Valley have received great attention since preliminary studies indicate their potential for shale gas. However, fundamental information allied to shale gas reservoir characteristics are still rare in India, as exploration is in the primary stage. In this study, Barakar shale beds of eastern part of Jharia Basin are evaluated for gas reservoir characteristics. It is evident that Barakar shales are carbonaceous, silty, contains sub-angular flecks of quartz and mica, irregular hair-line fractures and showing lithological variations along the bedding planes, signifying terrestrial-fluviatile deposits under reducing environment. The values of TOC varies from 1.21 wt.% to 17.32 wt.%, indicating good source rock potentiality. The vitrinite, liptinite, inertinite and mineral matter ranging from 0.28 vol.% to 12.98 vol.%, 0.17 vol.% to 3.23 vol.%, 0.23 vol.% to 9.05 vol.%, and 74.74 vol.% to 99.10 vol.%, respectively. The ternary facies plot of maceral composition substantiated that Barakar shales are vitrinite rich and placed in the thermal-dry gas prone region. The low values of the surface area determined following different methods point towards low methane storage capacity, this is because of diagenesis and alterations of potash feldspar responsible for pore blocking effect. The pore size distribution signifying the micro to mesoporous nature, while Type II sorption curve with the H2 type of hysteresis pattern, specifies the heterogeneity in pore structure mainly combined-slit and bottle neck pores. | Vinod Atmaram Mendhe Subhashree Mishra Ranjit G.Khangar Alka Damodhar Kamble Durgesh Kumar Atul Kumar Varma H.Singh Sujeet Kumar Mollika Bannerjee | 2017 | Journal of Earth Science2017,28,5: | 1
