1Numerical prediction experiment on Typhoon Maggie (9903)显示文摘The movement of Typhoon Maggie (9903) in June 1999 is one of the rare cases ever seen in the history. At 00U on June 6 Maggie was located at about 70 km to the southwest of Taiwan. When it arrived at the coastal region of Shanwei City (22.8N, 116.5E), it turned suddenly to move southwestward along the southern China coastal line. De June 7 Maggie finally turned to move northward, making landfall to the north of Shangchuan Island. The experimental numerical prediction system on typhoon movement that was designed based on MM5 is proved quite successful for the 48h prediction of Maggie’s movement and rainfall. The mean prediction error of typhoon track is 81 km for 0-24 h and 74 km for 24-48 h. The location of typhoon center in the initial field of the model is approximately 100 km away from the actual observations. In order to modify the location of typhoon center, a bogus typhoon was intro- duced into the model and the prediction of typhoon track was improved in 0-24 h time interval. But the prediction error was enlarged in 24-36 h. We also performed a sensitivity experiment of changing the land of southern China into the ocean. 3Crystalline all-inorganic lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) perovskite microplates with ultra-fast photoconductive response and robust thermal stability显示文摘Hybrid organolead halide perovskites have attracted tremendous attention due to their recent success as high efficiency solar cell materials and their fascinating material properties uniquely suitable for optoelectronic devices. However, the poor ambient and operational stability as well as the concern of lead toxicity greatly hamper their practical utilization. In this work, crystalline, all-inorganic and lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) perovskite microplates are successfully synthesized by a two-step chemical vapor deposition method. As compared with other typical lead-free perovskite materials, the Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) microplates demonstrate excellent optoelectronic properties, including substantial enhancements in the Stokes shift, exciton binding energy and electron-phonon coupling. Simple photoconductive devices fabricated using these microplates exhibit an ultra-fast response with the rise and decay time constants down to 96 and 58 µs, respectively. This respectable photoconductor performance can be regarded as a record among all the lead-free perovskite materials. Importantly, these photodetectors show superior thermal stability in a wide temperature range, capable to function reversibly between 80 and 380 K, indicating their robustness to operate under both low and high temperatures. 7Characterization of a smog chamber for studying formation of gas-phase products and secondary organic aerosol显示文摘Smog chambers provide a potent approach to explore the secondary organic aerosol formation under varied conditions.This study describes the construction and characterization of a new smog chamber facility for studying the formation mechanisms of gas-phase products and secondary organic aerosol from the photooxidation of volatile organic compounds.The chamber is a 5.4 m^(3) Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene(FEP)Teflon reactor with the potential to perform photooxidation experiments at controlled temperature and relative humidity.Detailed characterizations were conducted for evaluation of stability of environmental parameters,mixing time,background contamination,light intensity,and wall losses of gases and particles.The photolysis rate of NO_(2)(J_(NO2))ranged from(1.02-3.32)×10^(-3)sec^(-1),comparable to the average J_(NO2)in ambient environment.The wall loss rates for NO,NO_(2),and O_(3)were 0.47×10^(-4),0.37×10^(-4),and 1.17×10^(-4)min^(-1),while wall loss of toluene was obsoletely found in a 6 hr test.The particle number wall loss rates are(0.01-2.46)×10^(-3)min^(-1)for 40-350 nm with an average lifetime of more than one day.A series of toluene photooxidation experiments were carried out in absence of NO_xunder dry conditions.The results of the simulation experiments demonstrated that the chamber is well designed to simulate photolysis progress in the atmosphere.Qi Yuan Zhuozhi Zhang Meng Wang Kin Fai Ho Tao Wang Shuncheng Lee 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2:0
8Casein kinase-2 inhibition promotes retinal ganglion cell survival after acute intraocular pressure elevation显示文摘Intraocular pressure elevation can induce retinal ganglion cell death and is a clinically reversible risk factor for glaucoma,the leading cause of irreversible blindness.We previously demonstrated that casein kinase-2 inhibition can promote retinal ganglion cell survival and axonal regeneration in rats after optic nerve injury.To investigate the underlying mechanism,in the current study we increased the intraocular pressure of adult rats to 75 mmHg for 2 hours and then administered a casein kinase-2 inhibitor(4,5,6,7-tetrabromo-2-azabenzimidazole or 2-dimethylamino-4,5,6,7-tetrabromo-1H-benzimidazole)by intravitreal injection.We found that intravitreal injection of 4,5,6,7-tetrabromo-2-azabenzimidazole or 2-dimethylamino-4,5,6,7-tetrabromo-1H-benzimidazole promoted retinal ganglion cell survival and reduced the number of infiltrating macrophages.Transcriptomic analysis showed that the mitogen activated protein kinase signaling pathway was involved in the response to intraocular pressure elevation but was not modulated by the casein kinase-2 inhibitors.Furthermore,casein kinase-2 inhibition downregulated the expression of genes(Cck,Htrsa,Nef1,Htrlb,Prph,Chat,Slc18a3,Slc5a7,Scn1b,Crybb2,Tsga10ip,and Vstm21)involved in intraocular pressure elevation.Our data indicate that inhibition of casein kinase-2 can enhance retinal ganglion cell survival in rats after acute intraocular pressure elevation via macrophage inactivation.Meng Wang Shi-Qi Yao Yao Huang Jia-Jian Liang Yanxuan Xu Shaowan Chen Yuhang Wang Tsz Kin Ng Wai Kit Chu Qi Cui Ling-Ping Cen 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,5:0

10Morphology and strain control of hierarchical cobalt oxide nanowire electrocatalysts via solvent effect显示文摘Designing highly efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction is important for many renewable energy applications.In particular,strain engineering has been demonstrated as a powerful strategy to enhance the electrochemical performance of catalysts;however,the required complex catalyst preparation process restricts the implementation of strain engineering.Herein,we report a simple self-template method to prepare hierarchical porous Co_(3)O_(4)nanowires(PNWs)with tunable compressive strain via thermal-oxidation-transformation of easily prepared oxalic acid-cobalt nitrate(Co(NO_(3))_(2))composite nanowires.Based on the complementary theoretical and experimental studies,the selection of proper solvents in the catalyst preparation is not only vital for the hierarchical structural evolution of Co_(3)O_(4) but also for regulating their compressive surface strain.Because of the rich surface active sites and optimized electronic Co d band centers,the PNWs exhibit the excellent activity and stability for oxygen evolution reaction,delivering a low overpotential of 319 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2)in 1 M KOH with a mass loading 0.553 mg·cm^(−2),which is even better than the noble metal catalyst of RuO_(2).This work provides a cost-effective example of porous Co_(3)O_(4)nanowire preparation as well as a promising method for modification of surface strain for the enhanced electrochemical performance.Xiuming Bu Xiongyi Liang Kingsley O.Egbo Zebiao Li You Meng Quan Quan Yang Yang Li Kin Man Yu Chi-Man Lawrence Wu Johnny C.Ho 2020Nano Research2020,13,11:0
