2Controlling N-doping type in carbon to boost single-atom site Cu catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of quinoline显示文摘Single-atom site(SA)catalysts on N-doped carbon(CN)materials exhibit prominent performance for their active sites being M-Nx.Due to the commonly random doping behaviors of N species in these CN,it is a tough issue to finely regulate their doping types and clarify their effect on the catalytic property of such catalysts.Herein,we report that the N-doping type in CN can be dominated as pyrrolic-N and pyridinic-N respectively through compounding with different metal oxides.It is found that the proportion of distinct doped N species in CN depends on the acidity and basicity of compounded metal oxide host.Owing to the coordination by pyrrolic-N,the SA Cu catalyst displays an enhanced activity(two-fold)for transfer hydrogenation of quinoline to access the valuable molecule tetrahydroquinoline with a good selectivity(99%)under mild conditions.The higher electron density of SA Cu species induced by the predominate pyrrolic-N coordination benefits the hydrogen transfer process and reduces the energy barrier of the hydrogenation pathway,which accounts for the improved catalytic effeciency.Jian Zhang Caiyan Zheng Maolin Zhang Yajun Qiu Qi Xu Weng-Chon Cheong Wenxing Chen Lirong Zheng Lin Gu Zhengpeng Hu Dingsheng Wang Yadong Li 2020Nano Research2020,13,11:29
3Gastric cancer surgery in cirrhotic patients: Result of gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection显示文摘AIM: To explore the feasibility of performing gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy in gastric cancer patients with liver cirrhosis.METHODS: A total of 7 178 patients were admitted with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis from January 1993 to December 2003. We reviewed the records of 142 patients who were diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and gastric adenocarcinoma during the same period. Gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection for carcinoma of the stomach was performed in 94 patients with histologically proven hepatic cirrhosis.RESULTS: All but 12 patients were classified as Child's class A. Only 35 patients (37.2%) were diagnosed with cirrhosis before operation. Seventy-three patients underwent a subtotal gastrectomy (77.7%) and 21 patients (22.3%)underwent a total gastrectomy, each with D2 or more lymph node dissection. Two patients (3.8%) who had prophylactic intra-operative drain placement, died of postoperative complications from hepatorenal failure with intractable ascites. Thirty-seven patients (39.4%) experienced postoperative complications. The extent of gastric resection did not influence the morbidity whereas serum aspartate aminotransferase level (P = 0.011) and transfusion did (P= 0.008). The most common postoperative complication was ascites (13.9%) followed by wound infection (10.6%).CONCLUSION: We concluded that the presence of compensated cirrhosis, i.e. Child class A, is not a contraindication against gastrectomy with D2 or more lymph node dissection, when curative resection for gastric cancer is possible. 4Nutritional risk index as a predictor of postoperative wound complications after gastrectomy显示文摘AIM:To investigate the correlation between the nutritional risk index (NRI) and postoperative wound complications.METHODS:From January 2008 through June 2008,669 patients who underwent curative gastrectomy for gastric cancer were included in a retrospective study.Medical records of consecutive patients were collected and analyzed to determine postoperative wound complication rates.The NRI was assessed on the fifth postoperative day and other possible risk factors for the incidence of wound complications were analyzed to identify the factors affecting postoperative wound complications.Patients with other postoperative complications were excluded from the study.RESULTS:On the 5th postoperative day,the NRI showed a malnutrition rate of 84.6% among postoperative patients.However,postoperative wound complications occurred in only 66/669 (9.86%) patients.Of the patients with wound complications,62/66 (94%) belonged to the malnourished group (NRI < 97.5),and 4/66 (6%) patients to the non-malnourished group (NRI ≥ 97.5).The only factor correlated with wound complications was the NRI on the 5th postoperative day (odds ratio of NRI ≥ 97.5 vs NRI < 97.5:0.653;95% confidence interval:0.326-0.974;P=0.014) according to univariate analysis as well as multivariate analysis.CONCLUSION:This study suggests that malnutrition immediately after surgery may play a significant role in the development of wound complications.Cheong Ah Oh Dae Hoon Kim Seung Jong Oh Min Gew Choi Jae Hyung Noh Tae Sung Sohn Jae Moon Bae Sung Kim 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,7:25
5Endoscopic removal of gastric ectopic pancreas:An initial experience with endoscopic submucosal dissection显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the therapeutic usefulness and safety of endoscopic resection in patients with gastric ectopic pancreas.METHODS:A total of eight patients with ectopic pancreas were included.All of them underwent endoscopic ultrasonography before endoscopic resection.Endo-scopic resection was performed by two methods:endo-scopic mucosal resection(EMR)by the injection-and-cut technique or endoscopic mucosal dissection(ESD).RESULTS:We planned to perform EMR in all eight cases but EMR was successful in only four cases.In the other four cases,saline spread into surrounding normal tissues and the lesions becameattened,which made it impossible to remove them by EMR.Inthose four cases,we performed ESD and removed the lesions without any complications.CONCLUSION:If conventional EMR is difficult to remove gastric ectopic pancreas,ESD is a feasible alternative method for successful removal.Dong Yup Ryu Gwang Ha Kim Do Youn Park Bong Eun Lee Jae Hoon Cheong Dong Uk Kim Hyun Young Woo Jeong Heo Geun Am Song 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,36:24

8Foreign versus domestic institutional investors in emerging markets: Who contributes more to firm-specific information flow?显示文摘Using a large sample of firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange over 1998–2007, this study investigates whether and how trading by foreign and domestic institutional investors improves the extent to which firm-specific information is incorporated into stock prices, captured by stock price synchronicity. We find,first, that stock price synchronicity decreases significantly with the intensity of trading by foreign investors and domestic institutional investors. Second,trading by foreign investors facilitates the incorporation of firm-specific information into stock prices to a greater extent than trading by aggregate domestic institutions. Third, among domestic institutions with differing investment horizons, short-term investing institutions, such as securities and investment trust companies, play a more important role in incorporating firm-specific information into stock prices via their trading activities, compared with long-term investing institutions, such as banks and insurance companies.Finally, we provide evidence suggesting that trading by foreign and domestic short-term institutions reduces the extent of accrual mispricing. 9Outcome after gastrectomy in gastric cancer patients with type 2 diabetes显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the prognosis of type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus (T2DM) after gastrectomy and related factors in gastric cancer patients. METHODS: 403 gastric cancer patients with T2DM were studied, who underwent gastrectomy between May 2003 and September 2009. A review of medica records and telephone interviews was performed in this cross-sectional study. The factors included in the statistical analysis were as follows: gender, age, type of surgery, preoperative body mass index (BMI), current BMI, BMI reduction ratio, preoperative insulin or oral diabetic medicine requirement, follow-up duration, and current state of diabetes. Assessment of diabetes status after surgery was classified into four categories according to the change in hypoglycemic agents after surgery and present status of T2DM: resolution, improvement, same, and worse.(± 20.6 mo), preoperative BMI was 24.7 kg/m2 (± 3.0 kg/m2), and BMI reduction ratio was 9.8% (± 8.6%). After surgery, T2DM was cured in 58 patients (15.1%) and was improved in 117 patients (30.4%). According to the type of surgery, the BMI reduction ratio was signif icantly higher in the total gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y reconstruction group [14.2% ± 9.2% vs 9.2% ± 7.7% (Billroth Ⅱ group), P < 0.001] and signif icantly lower in the subtotal gastrectomy and Billroth Ⅰ reconstruction group [7.6% ± 8.0%, 9.2% ± 7.7% (Billroth Ⅱ group), P < 0.001]. The BMI reduction ratio, follow-up duration after surgery, type of surgery, extent of gastrectomy, and performance of duodenal bypass were signif icantly correlated to the course of T2DM (P < 0.05). The BMI reduction ratio was the most influential factor on T2DM status. 10Functional interaction of endoplasmic reticulum stress and hepatitis B virus in the pathogenesis of liver diseases显示文摘Hepatitis B virus(HBV) is a non-cytopathic virus that causes acute and chronic inflammatory liver diseases,often leading to the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Although many studies for the roles of HBV on pathogenesis of the liver diseases,such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),hepatic inflammation,cirrhosis,and HCC,have been reported,the mechanisms are not fully understood. Endoplasmic reticulum(ER) and mitochondria have the protective mechanisms to restore their damaged function by intrinsic or extrinsic stresses,but their chronic dysfunctions are associated with the pathogenesis of the various diseases. Furthermore,HBV can affect intraor extracellular homeostasis through induction of ER and mitochondrial dysfunctions,leading to liver injury. 13Association of chronic viral hepatitis B with insulin resistance显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between chronic viral hepatitis B(CVHB) and insulin resistance(IR) in Korean adults.METHODS:A total of 7880 adults(3851 men,4029 women) who underwent a comprehensive medical examination were enrolled in this study.Subjects diagnosed with either diabetes mellitus,or any other disorder that could influence their insulin sensitivity,were rejected.Anthropometry,metabolic risk factors,hepatitis B surface antigen,hepatitis B surface antibody,hepatitis B core antibody,fasting plasma glucose and insulin were measured for all subjects.Homeostasis model assessment(HOMA),quantitative insulin check index(QUICKI),and Mf fm index were used for determining insulin sensitivity.Each participant was categorized into a negative,recovery,or CVHB group.To compare variables between groups,a t-test and/or one-way analysis of variance were used.Partial correlation coefficients were computed to present the association between insulin resistance and other variables.Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to assess the independent association between CVHB and IR.RESULTS:The mean age of men and women were 48.9 and 48.6 years,respectively.Subjects in the CVHB group had significantly higher waist circumference [(86.0 ± 7.7 cm vs 87.3 ± 7.8 cm,P = 0.004 in men),(78.3 ± 8.6 cm vs 80.5 ± 8.5 cm,P < 0.001 in women)],cystatin C [(0.96 ± 0.15 mg/dL vs 1.02 ± 0.22 mg/dL,P < 0.001 in men),(0.84 ± 0.15 mg/dL vs 0.90 ± 0.16 mg/dL,P < 0.001 in women)],fasting insulin [(5.47 ± 3.38 U/mL vs 6.12 ± 4.62 U/mL,P < 0.001 in men),(4.57 ± 2.82 U/mL vs 5.06 ± 3.10 U/mL,P < 0.001 in women)] and HOMA index [(1.24 ± 0.86 vs 1.43 ± 1.24,P < 0.001 in men),(1.02 ± 0.76 vs 1.13 ± 0.87,P = 0.033 in women)] compared to control group.The HOMA index revealed a positive correlation with body mass index(BMI)(r = 0.378,P < 0.001),waist circumference(r =0.356,P < 0.001),percent body fat(r = 0.296,P < 0.001),systolic blood pressure(r = 0.202,P < 0.001),total cholesterol(r = 0.134,P < 0.001),triglycerides(r = 0.292,P < 0.001),cystatin C(r = 0.069,P < 0.001) and uric acid(r = 0.142,P < 0.001).The QUICKI index revealed a negative correlation with BMI(r =-0.254,P < 0.001),waist circumference(r = 0-0.243,P < 0.001),percent body fat(r =-0.217,P < 0.001),systolic blood pressure(r =-0.132,P < 0.001),total cholesterol(r =-0.106,P < 0.001),triglycerides(r =-0.205,P < 0.001),cystatin C(r =-0.044,P < 0.001) and uric acid(r =-0.096,P < 0.001).For subjects identified with IR,the odds ratio of an accompanying diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B was 1.534(95% CI:1.158-2.031,HOMA index criteria) or 1.566(95% CI:1.124-2.182,QUICKI criteria) after adjustment for age,gender,BMI,and amount of alcohol consumption.CONCLUSION:Our study demonstrates that CVHB is associated with IR.CVHB may need to be monitored for occurrence of IR and diabetes mellitus.Jeong Gyu Lee Sangyeoup Lee Yun Jin Kim Byung Mann Cho Joo Sung Park Hyung Hoi Kim JaeHun Cheong Dong Wook Jeong Yu Hyun Lee Young Hye Cho Mi Jin Bae Eun Jung Choi 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,42:10
14H pylori eradication:A randomized prospective study of triple therapy with or without ecabet sodium显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether adding ecabet sodium to the standard triple therapy for H pylori infection improve eradication rate. METHODS: Two hundred and fifty-seven H pylori-infected patients were randomly assigned to standard triple therapy (group A, n = 129) or triple therapy plus ecabet sodium (group B, n = 128). Successful eradication was defined as a negative 13C-urea breath test 6-8 wk after completion of treatment. RESULTS: After completion of therapy, 194/257 patients showed negative 13C-urea breath test results. According to intention-to-treat analysis, the infection was eradicated in 93/129 (72.1%) patients in group A and 101/128 (78.9%) in group B (P = 0.204). Per-protocol analysis showed successful eradication in 93/118 (78.8%) patients from group A and 101/114 (88.6%) from group B (P = 0.044). There were no significant differences in the side effects experienced by the patients in the two treatment groups. 15Sequential organ failure assessment score is superior to other prognostic indices in acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a common surgical condition,with severe AP(SAP)potentially lethal.Many prognostic indices,including;acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II score(APACHE II),bedside index of severity in acute pancreatitis(BISAP),Glasgow score,harmless acute pancreatitis score(HAPS),Ranson’s score,and sequential organ failure assessment(SOFA)evaluate AP severity and predict mortality.AIM To evaluate these indices'utility in predicting severity,intensive care unit(ICU)admission,and mortality.METHODS A retrospective analysis of 653 patients with AP from July 2009 to September 2016 was performed.The demographic,clinical profile,and patient outcomes were collected.SAP was defined as per the revised Atlanta classification.Values for APACHE II score,BISAP,HAPS,and SOFA within 24 h of admission were retrospectively obtained based on laboratory results and patient evaluation recorded on a secure hospital-based online electronic platform.Data with<10%missing data was imputed via mean substitution.Other patient information such as demographics,disease etiology,and patient outcomes were also derived from electronic medical records.RESULTS The mean age was 58.7±17.5 years,with 58.7%males.Gallstones(n=404,61.9%),alcohol(n=38,5.8%),and hypertriglyceridemia(n=19,2.9%)were more common aetiologies.81(12.4%)patients developed SAP,20(3.1%)required ICU admission,and 12(1.8%)deaths were attributed to SAP.Ranson’s score and APACHE-II demonstrated the highest sensitivity in predicting SAP(92.6%,80.2%respectively),ICU admission(100%),and mortality(100%).While SOFA and BISAP demonstrated lowest sensitivity in predicting SAP(13.6%,24.7%respectively),ICU admission(40.0%,25.0%respectively)and mortality(50.0%,25.5%respectively).However,SOFA demonstrated the highest specificity in predicting SAP(99.7%),ICU admission(99.2%),and mortality(98.9%).SOFA demonstrated the highest positive predictive value,positive likelihood ratio,diagnostic odds ratio,and overall accuracy in predicting SAP,ICU admission,and mortality.SOFA and Ranson’s score demonstrated the highest area under receiver-operator curves at 48 h in predicting SAP(0.966,0.857 respectively),ICU admission(0.943,0.946 respectively),and mortality(0.968,0.917 respectively).CONCLUSION The SOFA and 48-h Ranson’s scores accurately predict severity,ICU admission,and mortality in AP,with more favorable statistics for the SOFA score.Thomas Zheng Jie Teng Jun Kiat Thaddaeus Tan Samantha Baey Sivaraj K Gunasekaran Sameer P Junnarkar Jee Keem Low Cheong Wei Terence Huey Vishal G Shelat 2021World Journal of Critical Care Medicine2021,10,6:9
16Treatment and prognosis of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma based on SEER data analysis from 1973 to 2014显示文摘Background: Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare tumor of vascular origin with an unknown etiology, a low incidence, and a variable natural course. We evaluated the management and prognosis of HEH from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and changes in treatment modalities of HEH over 30 years. Methods: From 1973 to 2014 in the SEER database, we selected patients diagnosed with HEH. We analyzed the clinical characteristics, patterns of management, and clinical outcomes of patients with HEH. Results: We identi ed 79 patients with HEH (median age: 54.0 years;male to female ratio: 1:2.6). The initial extent of disease was local in 22 (27.8%) patients, regional metastasis in 22 (27.8%), distant metas-tasis in 31 (39.2%) and unknown in 4 (5.1%). The median size of primary tumor was 3.85 cm (interquartile range, 2.50 7.93 cm). Among 74 patients with available management data, the most common manage-ment was no treatment (29/74, 39.2%), followed by chemotherapy only (22/74, 29.7%), liver resection-based (13/74, 17.6%), and transplantation-based therapy (6/74, 8.1%). The 5-year cancer-speci c survival rate was 57.8%. Patients who underwent surgical treatment had signi cantly higher survival than those who underwent non-surgical treatment (5-year survival;88% vs. 49%, P=0.019). Multivariate analysis revealed that surgical therapy was the only independent prognostic factor for survival (hazard ratio: 0.20, P=0.040). 17PdAg bimetallic electrocatalyst for highly selective reduction of CO2 with low COOH^* formation energy and facile CO desorption显示文摘For electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO,the stabilization of intermediate COOH^* and the desorption of CO^* are two key steps.Pd can easily stabilize COOH^*,whereas the strong CO^* binding to Pd surface results in severe poisoning,thus lowering catalytic activity and stability for CO2 reduction.On Ag surface,CO^* desorbs readily,while COOH^* requires a relatively high formation energy,leading to a high overpotential.In light of the above issues,we successfully designed the PdAg bimetallic catalyst to circumvent the drawbacks of sole Pd and Ag.The PdAg catalyst with Ag-terminated surface not only shows a much lower overpotential(-0.55 V with CO current density of 1 mA/cm^2)than Ag(−0.76 V),but also delivers a CO/H2 ratio 18 times as high as that for Pd at the potential of-0.75 V vs.RHE.The issue of CO poisoning is significantly alleviated on Ag-terminated PdAg surface,with the stability well retained after 4h electrolysis at-0.75 V vs.RHE.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the Ag-terminated PdAg surface features a lowered formation energy for COOH^* and weakened adsorption for CO^*,which both contribute to the enhanced performance for CO2 reduction.Rui Lin Xuelu Ma Weng-Chon Cheong Chao Zhang Wei Zhu Jiajing Pei Kaiyue Zhang Bin Wang Shiyou Liang Yuxi Liu Zhongbin Zhuang Rong Yu Hai Xiao Jun Li Dingsheng Wang Qing Peng Chen Chen Yadong Li 2019Nano Research2019,12,11:7
18Convenient fabrication of BiOBr ultrathin nanosheets with rich oxygen vacancies for photocatalytic selective oxidation of secondary amines显示文摘Photocatalytic oxidation has been widely employed in organic synthesis,by virtue of the green,mild and simple reaction conditions as well as high selectivity.Introducing oxygen vacancies (OVs) with proper concentrations into the photocatalysts has been proven as an effective strategy to boost the catalytic performances.However,the currently used treatment method under high temperature at reducing atmosphere inevitably introduces a large number of OVs at the interior of the catalyst and serving as the recombination centers of carriers.To address this issue,here we develop a facile solvothermal process to prepare ultrathin BiOBr nanosheets with rich surface OVs.This method effectively decreases the bulk of the material and the ratio of interior OVs,rendering most of the OVs exposed on the surfaces which act as exposed catalytic sites and enhance the separation of carriers,therefore significantly elevates the photocatalytic performances.For the photo-oxidation reaction of secondary amines,under the conditions of visible light,ambient temperature and atmosphere,the BiOBr nanosheets featuring rich surface OVs deliver a doubled conversion compared to those with low OV concentrations,and a high selectivity of 99%,a high stability as the performance shows no reduction after 5 times of circular reaction.Xuanjue Tong Xing Cao Tong Han Weng-Chon Cheong Rui Lin Zheng Chen Dingsheng Wang Chen Chen Qing Peng Yadong Li 2019Nano Research2019,12,7:7
