| 1 | Comparative analyses of leaf anatomy of dicotyledonous species in Tibetan and Inner Mongolian grasslands显示文摘Knowledge of the leaf anatomy of grassland plants is crucial for understanding how these plants adapt to the environment. Tibetan alpine grasslands and Inner Mongolian temperate grasslands are two major grassland types in northern China. Tibetan alpine grasslands occur in high-altitude regions where the low temperatures limit plant growth. Inner Mongolian temperate grasslands are found in arid regions where moisture is the limiting factor. Few comparative studies concerning the leaf anatomy of grassland plants of the Tibetan Plateau and Inner Mongolian Plateau have been conducted. We examined leaf characteristics at 71 sites and among 65 species, across the alpine grasslands of the Tibetan Plateau and the temperate grasslands of the Inner Mongolian Plateau. We compared the leaf structures of plants with different life forms and taxonomies, and their adaptation to arid or cold environments. We explored relationships among leaf features and the effects of climatic factors (i.e., growing season temperature and precipitation) on leaf characteristics. Our results showed that (i) there were significant differences in leaf anatomy between Tibetan alpine and Inner Mongolian temperate grasslands. Except for mesophyll cell density, the values obtained for thickness of leaf tissue, surface area and volume of mesophyll cells were larger on the Tibetan Plateau than on the Inner Mongolian Plateau. (ii) Within the same family or genus, leaf anatomy showed significant differences between two regions, and trends were consistent with those of whole species. (iii) Leaf anatomy of woody and herbaceous plants also showed significant differences between the regions. Except for mesophyll cell density, the values obtained for the thickness of leaf tissue, and the surface area and volume of mesophyll cells were larger in herbaceous than in woody plants. (iv) Leaf anatomical traits changed accordingly. Total leaf thickness, thicknesses of lower and upper epidermal cells, and surface area and volume of mesophyll cells were positively correlated, while mesophyll cell density was negatively associated with those traits. (v) Growing season temperature had stronger effects on leaf anatomy than growing season precipitation. | 3 | Patterns and determinants of wood physical and mechanical properties across major tree species in China显示文摘The physical and mechanical properties of wood affect the growth and development of trees, and also act as the main criteria when determining wood usage. Our understanding on patterns and controls of wood physical and mechanical properties could provide benefits for forestry management and bases for wood application and forest tree breeding. However, current studies on wood properties mainly focus on wood density and ignore other wood physical properties. In this study, we established a comprehensive database of wood physical properties across major tree species in China. Based on this database, we explored spatial patterns and driving factors of wood properties across major tree species in China. | 4 | Self-reducing bifunctional Ni-W/SBA-15 catalyst for cellulose hydrogenolysis to low carbon polyols显示文摘A series of self-reducing bifunctional Ni-W/SBA-15 catalysts were synthesized using biomass-based carbon source as the reducing agent without conventional further reduction step. The self-reducing catalysts were performed on the hydrogenolysis of cellulose to low carbon polyols. The effects of calcination temperature and metallic loading contents for cellulose hydrogenolysis reaction were investigated detailedly.The optimal calcination temperature was found to be 673 K by TG analysis. The active metal nanoparticles with a better dispersion were observed using SEM and element mapping technology. | 5 | Reactive MnO_(2) template-assisted synthesis of double-shelled PPy hollow nanotubes to boost microwave absorption显示文摘Microwave absorbing materials(MAMs)with wide effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)and low filling ratio are highly desirable for practical applications.Rational design in components and structures is one of the effective strategies to achieve MAMs with high performance.Herein,double-shelled hollow(DSH)polypyrrole(PPy)nanotubes were synthesized with hydrochloric acid(HCl)and sodium pstyrene sulfonate(SS)co-doping polymerization process using manganese dioxide(MnO_(2))nanorods as a self-sacrifice template.With the increase of HCl concentration,the 1D MnO_(2) core diminishes gradually to form the MnO_(2)@PPy coaxial nanostructures and finally the DSH PPy nanotube,which tunes the microwave absorption performance.Importantly,the DSH PPy nanotubes exhibit excellent microwave absorption of an optimal reflection loss of–50.4 dB and a wide EAB of 7.7 GHz with a low filling ratio of 5 wt%in a paraffin wax matrix.The excellent microwave absorption is believed to be mainly attributed to the enhanced synergistic effects of interfacial polarization and conduction loss arising from the unique DSH structure and the co-doping polymerization. | Huiling Gu Ji Huang Na Li Hua Yang Gang Chen Chengjun Dong Chunhong Gong Hongtao Guan | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,15: | 3 |

| 7 | The relationships among structure variables of larch forests in China显示文摘Background:Larch(Larix Mill.)forests are widely distributed in the upper parts of mountainous areas in China,playing vital roles in constructing mountain landscapes and maintaining mountain environments.Despite their importance,our knowledges on the large-scale patterns of structure characteristics and the relationships between different structure variables are unclear.In this paper,we investigated 155 plots from 11 natural larch forest types across the country to explore the biogeographic patterns of the structure characteristics and the allometric relationships between different structure variables for Chinese larch forests.Results:The structure characteristics were significantly different among larch forest types.For different larch forest types,the power function fits the relationships between tree height and diameter at breast height(DBH),average DBH and stem density,and taper and stem density well,but with different exponents among larch forest types.The power exponents of the allometric relationships between tree height and DBH for different larch forest types varied from 0.61 to 0.93(mean=0.86)by standard major axis regression(SMA),and from 0.51 to 0.78(mean=0.56)by ordinary least square regression(OLS).The 50%,75%and 95%quantile regression(QR)and OLS indicated that the average DBH and taper of the L.gmelinii forests,L.gmelinii var.principis-rupprechtii forests,and L.sibirica forests were significantly correlated with stem density.Conclusions:The relationship between tree height and DBH showed a power function relationship for all larch forest types in China,but with different exponents.Overall,stem density was negatively correlated with average DBH and taper.The Sect.Larix forests exhibited stand density effect.Our findings provide an important basis for recognizing the biogeographic patterns of structure factors and for the management of larch forests in China. | Wenjing Fang Qing Zhao Qiong Cai Anwar Eziz Guoping Chen Yuhao Feng Heng Zhang Jiangling Zhu Chengjun Ji Zhiyao Tang Jingyun Fang | 2020 | Forest Ecosystems2020,7,4: | 2 |
| 8 | Differentiated super-enhancers in lung cancer cells显示文摘Super-enhancers(SEs) are regulatory elements with enriched accumulation of key transcription factors.Few studies were done investigating SEs in lung cancers.Here we analyzed epigenetic profiling data to identify SEs in lung cancer cell lines.Enhancers were classified as SEs and typical enhancers(TEs).Most of the TEs were overlapped between normal cell and cancer cells.A great portion of SEs were differentiated comparing these cells.Analysis of GO terms associated with SEs revealed SE remodeling(lost on some sites while gain on others) between normal and lung cancer cells.By comparing the average number of SEs in each GO term in cancer cells with the number in control cells,surprisingly,no GO terms with significantly increased SE number in cancer condition were observed.On the contrary,in aspects such as 'cell-cell adhesion','receptor activity' and'negative regulation of canonical Wnt signaling pathway',the related SEs were significantly reduced in cancer cells.These findings suggest that in lung cancer,cells may not gain decisive gene expression in the related aspect,instead,they may have lost control of the fateful genes.Taken together,our work with the usability of omics data identified SEs in lung cancer cells and further showed cancer-specific features of SE-related terms. | Xin Li Chengjun Lu Qijue Lu Chunguang Li Ji Zhu Tiejun Zhao Hezhong Chen Hai Jin | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,9: | 1 |
| 9 | Research on characteristics of acoustic signal of typical partial discharge models显示文摘The pulse current method,acoustic and ultrasonic partial discharge(PD)detection,and voiceprint PD detection are commonly used detection methods for the PD detection of power equipment.To study the characteristics of PD signals of typical discharge models based on the principles of the above three detection methods,an acoustic detection experimental system consisting of a needle-tip model and a surface model was built.Acoustic tests were carried out on needle-tip models with different curvature radii and surface discharge models with different lengths of conductive paste.The experimental results showed that acoustic and ultrasonic PD detection and voiceprint PD detection exhibited different sensitivities to the needle-tip discharge models,and the combination of acoustic and ultrasonic PD and voiceprint PD detection was more beneficial for the comprehensive detection of cable PD signals.Based on voiceprint recognition technology,this study drew FFT(Fast Fourier Transformation)diagrams of different types of PD acoustic signals and analyzed the differences in the ultrasonic signal frequency distribution.The frequency band of the voiceprint PD signal of the needle-tip discharge models was concentrated in the range 17-27 kHz,and the frequency band of the voiceprint PD signal of the conductive paste discharge models was concentrated in the range 20-25 kHz.The measurement of voiceprint PD signals in these frequency bands were strengthened when the PD of a cable was detected on-site,which provides the basis for the use of the cable model for on-site PD detection. | Hang Ji Xing Lei Qiang Xu Chengjun Huang Ting Ye Shangqing Yuan | 2022 | Global Energy Interconnection2022,5,1: | 1 |

| 14 | Characteristics and source attribution of PM2.5 during 2016 G20 Summit in Hangzhou: Efficacy of radical measures to reduce source emissions显示文摘A field campaign was conducted to study the PM2.5 and atmospheric gases and aerosol’s components to evaluate the efficacy of radical measures implemented by the Chinese government to improve air quality during the 2016 G20 Summit in Hangzhou China.The lower level of PM2.5(32.48±11.03μg/m3)observed during the control period compared to precontrol and post-control periods showed that PM2.5 was alleviated by control policies.Based on the mass concentrations of particulate components,the emissions of PM2.5 from local sources including fossil fuel,coal combustion,industry and construction were effectively reduced,but non-exhaust emission was not reduced as effectively as expected.The accumulation of SNA(SO42-,NO3-,NH4+)was observed during the control period,due to the favourable synoptic weather conditions for photochemical reactions and heterogeneous hydrolysis.Because of transboundary transport during the control period,air masses from remote areas contributed significantly to local PM2.5.Although,secondary organic carbon(OCsec)exhibited more sensitivity than primary organic carbon(OCpri)to control measures,and the increased nitrogen oxidation ratio(NOR)implied the regional transport of aged sec-ondary aerosols to the study area.Overall,the results from various approaches revealed that local pollution sources were kept under control,indicating that the implementation of mitigation measures were helpful in improving the air quality of Hangzhou during G20 summit.To reduce ambient levels of PM2.5 further in Hangzhou,regional control policies may have to be taken so as to reduce the impact of long-range transport of air masses from inland China. | Ke Chen Sarah E.Metcalfe Huan Yu Jingsha Xu Honghui Xu Dongsheng Ji Chengjun Wang Hang Xiao Jun He | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,8: | 1 |
| 15 | Efficient recovery of aromatic compounds from the wastewater of styrene monomer and propylene oxide co-production plant via hypercrosslinked aryl-rich starch-β-cyclodextrin polymeric sorbent显示文摘Adsorptive recovery of valuable components from industrial wastewater is highly desirable for avoiding resource wastage but remains a challenge.Herein,we develop an efficient continuous adsorption process for recovering aromatic compounds in wastewater from styrene monomer and propylene oxide coproduction(SMPO)plant.Based on our insight into the potential of bio-based porous materials for adsorption application,starch-graft-polystyrene(SPS)and aryl-modifiedβ-cyclodextrin(ACD)were prepared,and novel hypercrosslinked porous polymers combined SPS with ACD(HSPS-ACDs)were synthesized through external crosslinking approach.In a binary-component system,the best-performing one HSPS-ACD(H)with high ACD content and large specific surface area possessed superior capacities for the representative aromatic compounds,acetophenone(AP,2.81 mmol·g^(-1))and 1-phenylethanol(1-PE,1.35 mmol·g^(-1))compared with the previously reported materials.Further,the adsorption properties of aromatic compounds on HSPS-ACD(H)were investigated in batch mode.For practical application,continuous adsorption experiments were conducted in a HSPS-ACD(H)-packed fixed bed,where the target aromatic components in wastewater were effectively retained and further released by elution.Besides showing the reversible adsorption and efficient enrichment effect,the HSPS-ACD(H)-packed fixed bed also maintained great stability in multiple cycles.Moreover,quantum chemical calculations were performed to elucidate the potential mechanism of adsorption of AP and 1-PE onto HSPS-ACD(H). | Zhongwei Tan Xingguo Xu Yu Wan Chengjun Kang Zhaoqiang Zhang Zhenxia Zhao Fang Shen Kungang Chai Hongbing Ji | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,9: | 0 |
| 16 | A test of the mycorrhizal-associated nutrient economy framework in two types of tropical rainforests under nutrient enrichments显示文摘Shifts in tree species and their mycorrhizal associations driven by global change play key roles in biogeochemical cycles. In this paper, we proposed a framework of the mycorrhizal-associated nutrient economy(MANE), and tested it using nutrient addition experiments conducted in two tropical rainforests. We selected two tropical rainforests dominated by arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) and ectomycorrhizal(ECM) trees, and established eighteen20 m×20 m plots in each rainforest. Six nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) addition treatments were randomly distributed in each rainforest with three replicates. We examined the differences in soil carbon(C) and nutrient cycling, plant and litter productivity between the two rainforests and their responses to 10-year inorganic N and P additions. We also quantified the P pools of plants, roots, litter, soil and microbes in the two rainforests. Overall,distinct MANE frameworks were applicable for tropical rainforests, in which soil C, N and P were cycled primarily in an inorganic form in the AM-dominated rainforest, whereas they were cycled in an organic form in the ECMdominated rainforest. Notably, the effects of mycorrhizal types on soil P cycling were stronger than those on C and N cycling. The intensified N and P deposition benefited the growth of AM-dominated rainforests instead of ECMdominated rainforests. | 17 | Environmental heterogeneity regulates species-area relationships through the spatial distribution of species显示文摘Species-area relationships(SARs),also known as species-area curves,are fundamental scaling tools for biodiversity research.Sampling design and taxonomic groups affect the widely cited forms of species-area curves.However,the influence of sampling design and related environmental heterogeneity on SAR curves is rarely considered.Here,we investigated the SAR among different plant life forms(herbaceous plants,shrubs,and trees)in a 25.2-ha ForestGEO plot,the Wanglang Plot,in Sichuan,southwestern China,using a non-contiguous quadrat sampling method and power-law model.We compared the estimated parameters(the intercept c and the slope z)of the power-law models among different plant life forms,tested whether the SAR curve forms varied with sampling starting location,and assessed the effect of environmental heterogeneity accumulating with sampling area on curve variation.We found a wider range of variations in the SARs.The estimated c,z-values of power SAR were higher for the herbaceous plants than for the woody plants.A wider variation of SARs for the herbaceous plants than those for the woody plants.The selection of sampling starting location affected the SAR curve forms because of the roles of soil and topographic heterogeneity.We concluded that environmental heterogeneity regulates SAR curves sampled from different starting locations through spatial distribution of plant life forms.Thus,we recommend considering the design of sampling starting location when constructing SAR curves,especially in a heterogeneous habitat with unrandom distribution patterns of species. | Chenqi He Leqi Fang Xinyu Xiong Fan Fan Yangang Li Luoshu He Xiaoli Shen Sheng Li Chengjun Ji Jiangling Zhu | 2022 | Forest Ecosystems2022,9,3: | 0 |

| 20 | 青藏高原草地群落组成和结构的海拔梯度格局显示文摘青藏高原高寒草地是维持区域生态安全的天然屏障,也在一定程度上造就了该区域较高的生物多样性。然而,我们对青藏高原高寒草地植物群落组成和结构的海拔分布格局及其自身维持机制仍知之甚少。本研究在青藏高原东北部沿公路形成的海拔梯度设置了39个实验样地(海拔跨度为2800–5100m),每个样地设5个调查样方进行群落调查,包括物种组成、高度、盖度,评估青藏高原高寒草地植物群落的α和β多样性的海拔梯度格局及其影响因素。研究结果发现草地群落高度随着海拔的增加而显著降低,而群落盖度变化却不显著。随着海拔的增加,植物物种丰富度(α多样性)显著增加,而群落变异性(β多样性)显著降低。约束聚类分析表明,随海拔增加草地群落结构逐渐发生变化,基于此,在这种变化过程中,我们监测到3个渐变的海拔间断点,分别在海拔3640、4252和4333 m处。结构方程模型(SEM)表明,降水增加和温度降低对α多样性有显著的正向作用,但植物群落α多样性的变化显著改变群落变异性。以上结果表明,青藏高原的群落组成和结构沿海拔梯度发生了从量变到质变的过程。 | Xin Wang Jiangling Zhu Shitao Peng Tianli Zheng Zhaoyu Qi Jianbo Hu Chengjun Ji | 2022 | Journal of Plant Ecology2022,15,4: | 0 |
