| 2 | Technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers: A stochastic frontier model approach显示文摘This study investigated the effect of credit constraints and credit unconstraints on the technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province(KPK) of Pakistan. The primary data were collected by a direct elicitation method from 510 maize growers of KPK Province. Stochastic frontier model techniques were used for technical efficiency analyses. The results revealed that the mean technical efficiency difference between the two groups was 10.2%. The results of technical inefficiency effect modeling demonstrated that education of the household head, family size, number of married family members, off-farm income, farming experience, tractor drill, water irrigation through a lined course, certified seed, extension services, household saving variables, and a credit size variable had positive effects on technical efficiency for both credit constrained farmers(CCFs) and credit unconstrained farmers(UCCFs). In addition, age of household head and fragmented land values had negative effects on technical efficiency for both groups. However, the interest rate had positive and negative impacts on the technical efficiency of CCFs and UCCFs, respectively. | 5 | Impact of temperature on yield and related traits in cotton genotypes显示文摘Cotton growth and development is influenced by various uncontrollable environmental conditions. Temperature variations in the field can be created by planting at different dates. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of planting dates and thermal temperatures(growing degree days) on yield of 4 cotton genotypes, viz., CIM-598, CIM-599, CIM-602 and Ali Akbar-703. Plants were subjected to 6 planting dates during 2013 and 2014 in a trial conducted in randomized complete block design with four replications. For boll number, boll weight and seed cotton yield, cotton genotypes exhibited significant differences, CIM-599 produced the highest seed cotton yield of 2 062 kg ha^(–1) on account of maximum boll number and boll weight. The highest seed cotton yield was recorded in planting dates from 15 th April to 1st May whereas early and delayed planting reduced the yield due to less accumulation of heat units. Regression analysis revealed that increase of one unit(15 days) from early to optimum date(15th March to 15 th April) increased yield by 93.58 kg ha^(–1). Delay in planting also decreased the seed cotton yield with the same ratio. | 8 | Anomaly Based Camera Prioritization in Large Scale Surveillance Networks显示文摘Digital surveillance systems are ubiquitous and continuously generate massive amounts of data,and manual monitoring is required in order to recognise human activities in public areas.Intelligent surveillance systems that can automatically identify normal and abnormal activities are highly desirable,as these would allow for efficient monitoring by selecting only those camera feeds in which abnormal activities are occurring.This paper proposes an energy-efficient camera prioritisation framework that intelligently adjusts the priority of cameras in a vast surveillance network using feedback from the activity recognition system.The proposed system addresses the limitations of existing manual monitoring surveillance systems using a three-step framework.In the first step,the salient frames are selected from the online video stream using a frame differencing method.A lightweight 3D convolutional neural network(3DCNN)architecture is applied to extract spatio-temporal features from the salient frames in the second step.Finally,the probabilities predicted by the 3DCNN network and the metadata of the cameras are processed using a linear threshold gate sigmoid mechanism to control the priority of the camera.The proposed system performs well compared to state-of-theart violent activity recognition methods in terms of efficient camera prioritisation in large-scale surveillance networks.Comprehensive experiments and an evaluation of activity recognition and camera prioritisation showed that our approach achieved an accuracy of 98%with an F1-score of 0.97 on the Hockey Fight dataset,and an accuracy of 99%with an F1-score of 0.98 on the Violent Crowd dataset. | Altaf Hussain Khan Muhammad Hayat Ullah Amin Ullah Ali Shariq Imran Mi Young Lee Seungmin Rho Muhammad Sajjad | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 1 |

| 14 | A Transfer Learning-Based Approach to Detect Cerebral Microbleeds显示文摘Cerebral microbleeds are small chronic vascular diseases that occur because of irregularities in the cerebrum vessels.Individuals and elderly people with brain injury and dementia can have small microbleeds in their brains.A recent study has shown that cerebral microbleeds could be remarkably risky in terms of life and can be riskier for patients with dementia.In this study,we proposed an efficient approach to automatically identify microbleeds by reducing the false positives in openly available susceptibility-weighted imaging(SWI)data samples.The proposed structure comprises two different pretrained convolutional models with four stages.These stages include(i)skull removal and augmentation,(ii)making clusters of data samples using the k-mean classifier,(iii)reduction of false positives for efficient performance,and(iv)transfer-learning classification.The proposed technique was assessed using the SWI dataset available for 20 subjects.For our findings,we attained an accuracy of 97.26%with a 1.8%false-positive rate using data augmentation on the AlexNet transfer learning model and a 1.1%false-positive rate with 97.89%accuracy for the ResNet 50 model with data augmentation approaches.The results show that our models outperformed the existing approach for the detection of microbleeds. | Sitara Afzal Imran Ullah Khan Jong Weon Lee | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,4: | 0 |

These peatlands are a source of fuel for the local community, habitat for nesting birds, and water regulation at source for rivers.Ground-based surveys of high-altitude peatlands are not only difficult, but also expensive and time consuming. Therefore, a method using cost-effective remote sensing technology is required. In this article we assessed the distribution and extent of highaltitude peatlands in a 2000 ha area of Broghil Valley using Landsat 8 data. The composite image was trained using a priori knowledge of the area, and classified into peatland and non-peatland land covers using a supervised decision tree algorithm. The Landsat-based classification map was compared with field data collected with a differential GPS. This comparison suggests 82% overall accuracy, which is fairly high for high altitude areas. | 20 | Autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxia with spasticity due to a rare mutation in GBA2 gene in a large consanguineous Saudi family显示文摘The nonlysosomal glucosylceramidase b2(GBA2)gene encode an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glucosylceramide to glucose and ceramide.Mutations in the GBA2 gene have been reported to cause hereditary spastic paraplegia,autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxia with spasticity,and Marinescu-Sjogren-Like Syndrome.In this study,we report the clinical features and genetic diagnosis of autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxia with spasticity due to a rare mutation in GBA2 gene in a large consanguineous Saudi family.We included a large consanguineous Saudi family with a presumptive clinical diagnosis of ataxia at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah,Saudi Arabia.The family included six affected individuals and four unaffected in addition to the parents.Whole exome sequencing(WES)was performed for the probandⅣ-5,and Sanger sequencing was used to confirm the variant in other family members.Segregation study was performed using DNA from the parents and siblings of the proband.Sequence analysis identified a homozygous variant c.2618G>A,p.(Arg873His)in GBA2 gene.The homozygous variant was identified in affected members of the family while the parents and the other four siblings were heterozygous carriers of the variant.One sibling was not available for genetic testing.The variant identified in our patients is classified as pathogenic considering the current evidence of the variant.Autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxia with spasticity is an extremely rare genetic disorder with very few cases reported in the literature.We conclude that the c.2617G>A mutation in GBA2 gene causes the loss of function with abolishment of the enzymatic activity that causes the disease.This report adds further evidence to support the pathogenicity of this variant.The patients had the classical clinical phenotype of cerebellar ataxia and spasticity consistent with previous reports in the literature. | Hussein Algahtani Bader Shirah Ikram Ullah Mohammad H.Al-Qahtani Angham Abdulrahman Abdulkareem Muhammad Imran Naseer | 2021 | Genes & Diseases2021,8,1: | 0 |
