1Ozone sensitivity analysis with the MM5-CMAQ modeling system for Shanghai显示文摘Ozone has become one of the most important air pollution issues around the world. This article applied both O 3 /(NOy-NOx) and H 2 O 2 /HNO 3 indicators to analyze the ozone sensitivity in urban and rural areas of Shanghai, with implementation of the MM5-CMAQ modeling system in July, 2007. The meteorological parameters were obtained by using the MM5 model. A regional emission inventory with spatial and temporal allocation based on the statistical data has been developed to provide input emission data to the MM5-CMAQ modeling system. Results showed that the ozone concentrations in Shanghai show clear regional differences. The ozone concentration in rural areas was much higher than that in the urban area. 2Assessment of intraseasonal variabilities in China Ocean Reanalysis(CORA)显示文摘A regional reanalysis product—China Ocean Reanalysis(CORA)—has been developed for the China's seas and the adjacent areas. In this study, the intraseasonal variabilities(ISVs) in CORA are assessed by comparing with observations and two other reanalysis products(ECCO2 and SODA). CORA shows a better performance in capturing the intraseasonal sea surface temperatures(SSTs) and the intraseasonal sea surface heights(SSHs) than ECCO2 and SODA do, probably due to its high resolution, stronger response to the intraseasonal forcing in the atmosphere(especially the Madden-Julian Oscillation), and more available regional data for assimilation. But at the subsurface, the ISVs in CORA are likely to be weaker than reality, which is probably attributed to rare observational data for assimilation and weak diapycnal eddy diffusivity in the CORA model. 3Formation and Transportation of High-Salinity Water Produced in Polynyas South of the St.Lawrence Island显示文摘The authors studied variations of temperature and salinity in seawater under sea ice using hydrologic data collected from polynyas south of the St.Lawrence Island during March of 2008 and 2009.The results indicate that the high-salinity water found during the cruises of 2008 and 2009 was due to the formation of polynyas.The salinity observed in 2008 was higher than that in 2009 as a result of higher salt production in 2008.The spatial distributions of high-salinity cores differed between the two cruises.In March 2008, a southeastward flow was formed under the persistent northerly wind in the observation region, which transported the high-salinity water produced by the polynyas to the southeast.The similar flow, however, did not exist in March 2009 because the northerly wind over the study area was interrupted by a southerly wind.Accordingly, the polynyas and the high-salinity water pro-duced by them existed for a short time.As a result, the high-salinity water in 2009 did not spread very far, and stayed within the polynyas.In addition, during the 2009 cruise, two stages of observations in the polynyas showed the core of high-salinity water was shifted to the southwest of the St.Lawrence Island.This result suggested that a southwestward flow might have existed in the area at the onset of the northerly wind, which was consistent with the alongshore and/or offshore flows caused by the northerly wind.FU Hongli ZHAO Jinping SHI Jiuxin JIAO Yutian 2010Journal of Ocean University of China2010,9,4:3

8An ensemble estimation of impact times and strength of Fukushima nuclear pollution to the east coast of China and the west coast of America显示文摘Based on the statistics of all surface drifting buoys of 1978-2011 and Lagrangian tracers simulated from high quality ocean reanalysis currents,the impact times and strength of Fukushima nuclear pollution to the east coast of China and the west coast of America have been estimated.Under the circumstances of the radioactive pollutants drifting in the ocean surface,preliminary research results show that while the tracers took about 4 years to reach the west coast of USA,there are two types of tracers to carry out Fukushima nuclear pollutants to reach the east coast of China,corresponding to 1.5-year recirculation gyre transport and 3.5-year subtropical circulation transport.The distributions of the impact strength at these time scales are given according to the variation of relative number concentration with time combined with the decaying rate of radioactive matter.For example,starting from 1% at 1.5-year,of the initial level at the originating area of Fukushima nuclear pollution,the impact strength of Cesium-137 in the South China Sea continuously increases up to 3% by 4 years,while the impact strength of Cesium-137 in the west coast of America is as high as 4% due to the role of strong Kuroshio-extension currents as a major transport mechanism of nuclear pollutants for that area.HAN GuiJun LI Wei FU HongLi ZHANG XueFeng WANG XiDong WU XinRong ZHANG LianXin 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,8:2
9A variational successive corrections approach for the sea ice concentration analysis显示文摘The sea ice concentration observation from satellite remote sensing includes the spatial multi-scale information.However,traditional data assimilation methods cannot better extract the valuable information due to the complicated variability of the sea ice concentration in the marginal ice zone.A successive corrections analysis using variational optimization method,called spatial multi-scale recursive filter(SMRF),has been designed in this paper to extract multi-scale information resolved by sea ice observations.It is a combination of successive correction methods(SCM)and minimization algorithms,in which various observational scales,from longer to shorter wavelengths,can be extracted successively.As a variational objective analysis scheme,it gains the advantage over the conventional approaches that analyze all scales resolved by observations at one time,and also,the specification of parameters is more convenient.Results of single-observation experiment demonstrate that the SMRF scheme possesses a good ability in propagating observational signals.Further,it shows a superior performance in extracting multi-scale information in a two-dimensional sea ice concentration(SIC)experiment with the real observations from Special Sensor Microwave/Imager SIC(SSMI).Xuefeng Zhang Lu Yang Hongli Fu Dong Li Zheqi Shen Lianxin Zhang Xuhui Hu 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,9:1

16A multi-scale high-order recursive filter approach for the sea ice concentration analysis显示文摘With the development and deployment of observation systems in the ocean,more precise passive and active microwave data are becoming available for the weather forecasting and the climate monitoring.Due to the complicated variability of the sea ice concentration(SIC)in the marginal ice zone and the scarcity of high-precision sea ice data,how to use less data to accurately reconstruct the sea ice field has become an urgent problem to be solved.A reconstruction method for gridding observations using the variational optimization technique,called the multi-scale high-order recursive filter(MHRF),which is a combination of Van Vliet fourth-order recursive filter and the three-dimensional variational(3D-VAR)analysis,has been designed in this study to reproduce the refined structure of sea ice field.Compared with the existing spatial multi-scale first-order recursive filter(SMRF)in which left and right filter iterative processes are executed many times,the MHRF scheme only executes the same filter process once to reduce the analysis errors caused by multiple filters and improve the filter precision.Furthermore,the series connected transfer function in the high-order recursive filter is equivalently replaced by the paralleled one,which can carry out the independent filter process in every direction in order to improve the filter efficiency.Experimental results demonstrate that this method possesses a good potential in extracting the observation information to successfully reconstruct the SIC field in computational efficiency.Lu Yang Dong Li Xuefeng Zhang Hongli Fu Kexiu Liu 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,2:1
17Indoor Propagation of Transgenic Glyphosate-tolerant Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) and Transfer Breeding for Herbicide Tolerance显示文摘[Objectives] This study was conducted to investigate the possibility of screening for herbicide resistance in the early stage of rapes growth. [Methods] Eight treatments were set for a herbicide concentration experiment. [Results] Rape sprouts were highly sensitive to the herbicide glyphosate, and even a very low concentration of glyphosate solution(187 mg/L) was sufficient to kill most of the rape seedlings, while the genetically modified herbicide-tolerant rape could tolerate higher concentrations of the herbicide. Low concentrations of glyphosate could be used for screening at the sprout stage, and the results of herbicide-tolerance screening were consistent with PCR testing. 19Comparison of the influences of vegetation stem parameters on hydraulic variables and sediment transport capacity显示文摘The hydraulic variables(Hv)and sediment transport capacity(Tc)of overland flow have changed immensely due to large-scale revegetation.However,research comparing the influences of stem pa-rameters(diameter,cover,and arrangement)on Hv and Tc is limited.The objectives of this study were to explore and compare the influences of stem parameters on Hv and Tc.Data on three treatment groups with varying stem diameters,covers,arrangements,flow discharges and slopes were collected in this study.With increasing stem diameter,Hv and Tc increased;Hv included the Reynolds and Froude numbers,flow velocity(v),shear stress(τ),stream power(Ω),and unit stream power(ω).However,the trend of the Darcy-Weisbach friction coefficient(f)was opposite.Hv and Tc were significantly influenced by stem diameter and cover.The effect of stem diameter on Hv and Tc was greater than the effects of cover and arrangement.Stem cover as a variable could not be used to adequately estimate the Tc when there were various stem diameters.A new exponential equation involving stem cover and stem diameter was demonstrated to be an appropriate predictor of Tc.Stem diameter and arrangement had no obvious influence on the relationship between Tc and v,and v as an indicator could explain the effect of stem parameters on Hv and Tc.This result could illustrate why the variables,including v,were able to predict Tc under vegetation stem and litter cover.Hongli Mu Suhua Fu 2023International Soil and Water Conservation Research2023,11,1:0
