2A data-driven method for syndrome type identification and classification in traditional Chinese medicine显示文摘The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) treatments for Western medicine(WM) diseases relies heavily on the proper classification of patients into TCM syndrome types.The authors developed a data-driven method for solving the classification problem,where syndrome types were identified and quantified based on statistical patterns detected in unlabeled symptom survey data.The new method is a generalization of latent class analysis(LCA),which has been widely applied in WM research to solve a similar problem,i.e.,to identify subtypes of a patient population in the absence of a gold standard.A well-known weakness of LCA is that it makes an unrealistically strong independence assumption.The authors relaxed the assumption by first detecting symptom co-occurrence patterns from survey data and used those statistical patterns instead of the symptoms as features for LCA.This new method consists of six steps:data collection,symptom co-occurrence pattern discovery,statistical pattern interpretation,syndrome identification,syndrome type identification and syndrome type classification.A software package called Lantern has been developed to support the application of the method.The method was illustrated using a data set on vascular mild cognitive impairment.Nevin Lianwen Zhang Chen Fu Teng Fei Liu Bao-xin Chen Kin Man Poon Pei Xian Chen Yun-ling Zhang 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2:11
3Energy Saving Cooperative Communication over Fading Channels with Relay Selection and Power Control显示文摘In order to save energy and make more efficient use of wireless channel, this article puts forward an energy saving cooperative relaying scheme which actuates the cooperative transmission only when the feedback from the destination indicates failure of the direct transmission. The proposed scheme selects the optimal relay and its corresponding transmission power in each time slot based on channel condition and residual energy with the objective of minimizing energy consumption and extending network lifetime. In the study, the finite-state Markov channel model is used to characterize the correlation structure of channel fading in wireless networks, and the procedure of relay selection and transmission power decision is formulated as a Markov decision process. 4Selective separation of polychlorinated naphthalene (PCNs), hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDs) and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in soil matrices显示文摘A method for the selective separation of polychlorinated naphthalene (PCNs), hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDs) and tetrabro-mobisphenol A (TBBPA) in complex matrices was developed. In the present study, the type of sorbents and the volume and composition of eluting solvents were investigated in detail. Under the optimal conditions, the recoveries of PCNs, HBCDs and TBBPA in different fractions were determined with liquid/gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC or GC-MS/MS), which was nearly close to 100%. To investigate the feasibility of the developed method, it was applied to isolate target compounds from spiked soil extracts. PCNs, HBCDs and TBBPA could be subsequently eluted with hexane, hexane/dichloromethane (1:1), and hexane/dichloromethane (1:3), and the recoveries of the analysts from three fractions were satisfactory (70.9%-107%) with the exception of -HBCD at low levels. 5Irrigation-induced pollution of organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls in paddy field ecosystem of Liaohe River Plain,China显示文摘In order to assess the influence of long-term irrigation of polluted river water on the ecological health of the rice fields in the low reach of Liaohe River Plain,a series of environmental samples and biological samples in rice fields,including sediments,paddy soils,mitten-handed crabs(Eriocheir sinensis),loaches(Misgurnus anguillicaudatu) and frog(Hoplobatrachus tigerinus),were collected from the area far away from industrial zones,and polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides(HCH,DDT,HCB and Mirex) were analyzed by high resolution gas chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry(HRGC/HRMS).The comparison of pollutant concentrations and profiles verified that the significant contribution of river water irrigation to PCBs contaminations in paddy soils and the mutual influence of organochlorine pesticide contamination between river sediments and paddy soils.Bioaccumulations of PCBs and organochlorine pesticides in mitten-handed crabs and loaches were site-specific,suggested that they were both the good indicators of ecosystem health.Mitten-handed crabs had the highest capacity to accumulate PCBs and organochlorine pesticides,and also they had the strong ability to degrade these pollutants in their bodies,especially for DDT and HCH.The biota-soil accumulation factors(BSAF) of ΣH CH,ΣDDT,Mirex,HCB and ΣP CBs in mitten-handed crab were calculated to be 24.5,15.3,122.2,28.1 and 54.6,respectively.In view of the strong bioaccumulation ability,the health risk should be concerned for the cultivation of mitten-handed crabs in paddy fields in the low reach of Liaohe River Plain.TENG Man ZHANG HaiJun FU Qiang LU XianBo CHEN JiPing WEI FuSheng 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,15:2

8Screening for Monoclonal Antibodies Against the Membrane Proteins of Chicken Embryo Fibroblast Blocking the Infection of IBDV显示文摘This article aims to establish an efficient assay for screening monoclonal antibodies (McAbs) against the membrane proteins of chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) for further studies of the cellular receptors of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). McAbs against the membrane proteins of CEF were prepared by cell fusion. The monolayer CEF pre-incubated with the CEF-specific McAbs for 2 h were infected with IBDV and incubated with F22-EA6-biotin postinfection. Then, the cells were reacted with streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and finally stained by 3-amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC). The inhibitive percentage of IBDV infection was calculated by counting the IBDV-infected cells to determine the inhibition efficiency of the CEF-specific McAbs. Compared with the control cells, the IBDV-infected cells pretreated with CEF-specific antibody significantly decreased; supernatant fluids of a total of 768 hybridomas were analyzed. The results of immunohistochemistry assays showed that six of them (1A5, 1H11, 2B12, 3G1, 4D10, and 4B8) have the abilities to block the infection of IBDV to CEF, among which 4B8 can perfectly block the infection. 10Critical roles of non-coding RNAs in lifecycle and biology of Marek's disease herpesvirus显示文摘Over the past two decades, numerous non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs) have been identified in different biological systems including virology, especially in large DNA viruses such as herpesviruses. As a representative oncogenic alphaherpesvirus, Marek’s disease virus(MDV) causes an important immunosuppressive and rapid-onset neoplastic disease of poultry, namely Marek’s disease(MD). Vaccinations can efficiently prevent the onset of MD lymphomas and other clinical disease, often heralded as the first successful example of vaccination-based control of cancer. MDV infection is also an excellent model for research into virally-induced tumorigenesis. Recently, great progress has been made in understanding the functions of ncRNAs in MD biology.Herein, we give a review of the discovery and identification of MDV-encoded viral miRNAs, focusing on the genomics,expression profiles, and emerging critical roles of MDV-1 miRNAs as oncogenic miRNAs(oncomiRs) or tumor suppressor genes involved in the induction of MD lymphomas. We also described the involvements of host cellular miRNAs, lincRNAs, and circRNAs participating in MDV life cycle, pathogenesis, and/or tumorigenesis. 20A Case Report:Severe Bullous Skin Reaction Induced by Anti-PD-1 Antibody(Toripalimab)Therapy in a Patient with Thymic Carcinoma显示文摘The development of immune checkpoint inhibitors,such as those targeting programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1),represents a major breakthrough in cancer therapy.Although immune checkpoint blockade therapy has a favorable risk/benefit ratio,it causes significant immune-related adverse events(irAEs),such as cutaneous reactions,in particular,severe bullous skin reactions and toxic epidermal necrolysis.Here,we report a case of a 51-year-old woman with malignant thymoma who developed a severe bullous skin reaction(characterized by a systemic rash,bullae,epidermal desquamation,and Stevens-Johnson syndrome)as a result of treatment with the PD-1 inhibitor toripalimab.The patient was treated with high doses of glucocorticoid,intravenous immunoglobulin,and intensive care,and eventually recovered from the severe irAEs.The intravenous injection of anti-PD-1 antibodies induces cutaneous reactions,which are associated with higher mortality rates.High doses of glucocorticoid combined with intravenous immunoglobulin are effective in alleviating such irAEs.Thus,improving the level of care and preventing skin infections can effectively reduce the risk of death.Chong TENG Xiaowei SONG Chengjuan FAN Yashuang ZHAO Lina DU Siqi MAN Yuanyuan HU Zhengjun JIANG Tao XIN 2022Clinical Cancer Bulletin2022,1,3:0
