| 6 | Mesoporous Ag nanocubes synthesized via selectively oxidative etching at room temperature for surface- enhanced Raman spectroscopy显示文摘Silver nanocubes enriched with {100} facets have been extensively used for surface-enhanced Raman scattering. Herein, we report a new water-phase synthesis method for weU-defined Ag nanocubes with tunable sizes via a two-step procedure at room temperature. First, irregularly shaped Ag nanoparticles (INPs) were prepared by reducing silver ammonia solution using ethylal. Second, the agglomerated INPs were selectively etched with HNO3 and C1- to yield {100} facet-rich mesoporous Ag nanocubes. The mechanism of Ag-nanocube formation and growth was investigated in detail by elucidating the involved chemical reactions and physical changes at each step during the synthesis. The addition of C1- anions was responsible for facilitating Ag nanoparticle growth by removing surface-adsorbed Ag+ species, thereby eliminating inter-particle repulsive forces. This agglomeration was found crucial for the subsequent selective oxidation of Ag nanoparticles because the protective agent used, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), was the most effective one for adsorption on the surfaces of Ag nanoparticles of size greater than approximately 50 nm. Importantly mesopores were found inside the Ag nanocubes; this can be attributed to the unavoidable imperfect packing during the agglomeration of INPs. | 8 | Subseasonal features of the Asian summer monsoon in the NCEP climate forecast system显示文摘The operational climate forecast system(CFS)of the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction provides climate predictions over the world,and CFS products are becoming an important source of information for regional climate predictions in many Asian countries where monsoon climate dominates.Recent studies have shown that,on monthly-to-seasonal time-scales,the CFS is highly skillful in simulating and predicting the variability of the Asian monsoon.The higher-frequency variability of the Asian summer monsoon in the CFS is analyzed,using output from a version with a spectral triangular truncation of 126 waves in horizontal and 64 sigma layers in vertical,focusing on synoptic,quasi-biweekly,and intraseasonal time-scales.The onset processes of different regional monsoon components were investigated within Asia.Although the CFS generally overestimates variability of monsoon on these time-scales,it successfully captures many major features of the variance patterns,especially for the synoptic time-scale.The CFS also captures the timing of summer monsoon onsets over India and the Indo-China Peninsula.However,it encounters difficulties in simulating the onset of the South China Sea monsoon.The success and failure of the CFS in simulating the onset of monsoon precipitation can also be seen from the associated features of simulated atmospheric circulation processes.Overall,the CFS is capable of simulating the synoptic-to-intraseasonal variability of the Asian summer monsoon with skills.As for seasonal-to-interannual time-scales shown previously,the model is expected to possess a potential for skillful predictions of the high-frequency variability of the Asian monsoon. | Song YANG WEN Min R Wayne HIGGINS | 2008 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2008,27,3: | 3 |

| 10 | Impacts of Land Process on the Onset and Evolution of Asian Summer Monsoon in the NCEP Climate Forecast System显示文摘Impacts of land models and initial land conditions(ICs) on the Asian summer monsoon,especially its onset,were investigated using the NCEP Climate Forecast System(CFS).Two land models,the Oregon State University(OSU) land model and the NCEP,OSU,Air Force,and Hydrologic Research Laboratory(Noah) land model,were used to get parallel experiments.The experiments also used land ICs from the NCEP/Department of Energy(DOE) Global Reanalysis 2(GR2) and the Global Land Data Assimilation System(GLDAS).Previous studies have demonstrated that,a systematic weak bias appears in the modeled monsoon,and this bias may be related to a cold bias over the Asian land mass.Results of the current study show that replacement of the OSU land model by the Noah land model improved the model's cold bias and produced improved monsoon precipitation and circulation patterns.The CFS predicted monsoon with greater proficiency in El Nin o years,compared to La Nin a years,and the Noah model performed better than the OSU model in monsoon predictions for individual years.These improvements occurred not only in relation to monsoon onset in late spring but also to monsoon intensity in summer.Our analysis of the monsoon features over the India peninsula,the Indo-China peninsula,and the South Chinese Sea indicates different degrees of improvement.Furthermore,a change in the land models led to more remarkable improvement in monsoon prediction than did a change from the GR2 land ICs to the GLDAS land ICs. | Song YANG 温敏 Rongqian YANG Wayne HIGGINS 张人禾 | 2011 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2011,28,6: | 3 |

| 14 | 冠心病中7个凝血基因的多态性:对66155例冠心病患者及91307例对照者的荟萃分析显示文摘Background: Variants of certain haemostatic genes(such as that encoding factor V Leiden) are involved in the development of venous thrombosis, but studies of such variants in coronary disease have reported apparently conflicting results. We did meta-analyses on seven such haemostatic genetic variants for which the available evidence on each comprises at least 5000 coronary disease cases and at least 5000 controls. Methods: Meta-analyses were done of 191 studies in relation to factor V G1691A(ie, factor V Leiden), factor VII G10976A, prothrombin G20210A, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) [-675] 4G/5G, and three platelet glycoprotein(GP)receptor variants(GPIa C807T, GPIbα T[-5]C,GPIIIa C1565T), involving a total of 66 155 coronary disease cases and 91 307 controls. We explored potential sources of heterogeneity. Findings: In a combined analysis of all studies, the per-allele relative risks(RR) for coronary disease of factor V 1691A and of prothrombin 20210A were 1.17(95% CI 1.08-1.28) and 1.31(1.12-1.52), respectively. Combined analyses of studies of the PAI-1 [-675] 4G variant yielded a per-allele relative risk for coronary disease of 1.06(1.02-1.10), but there was an indication of publication bias in these studies. Combined analyses of the factor VII 10976A, GPIa 807T, GPIbα [-5]C, and GPIIIa 1565T variants showed no significant overall associations with coronary disease, yielding per-allele RRs of 0.97(0.91-1.04), 1.02(0.97-1.08), 1.05(0.96-1.13), and 1.03(0.98-1.07) , respectively. Interpretation: The 1691A variant of the factor V gene and the 20210A variant of the prothrombin gene, both of which increase circulating thrombin generation, might each be moderately associated with the risk of coronary disease. Further studies are merited to assess these associations in greater detail(including any gene-gene and gene-environment interactions) and to determine any implications with regard to potential therapies designed to reverse patients prothrombotic phenotype, such as selective plasma factor V or factor Xa inhibition. | Higgins J.P. | 20 | Postprandial dyslipidemia in insulin resistant states in adolescent populations显示文摘Obesity and the metabolic syndrome are becoming increasingly prevalent not only in adults,but also in adolescents.The metabolic syndrome,a complex cluster of metabolic abnormalities,increases one’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease(CVD).Dyslipidemia,a key component of the metabolic syndrome,is highly associated with insulin resistance and contributes to increased CVD risk.Dyslipidemia has traditionally been assessed using a fasting lipid profile [i.e.fasting triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)].However,the postprandial state predominates over the course of a day and non-fasting triglycerides independently predict CVD risk.In insulin resistant states,the intestine overproduces triglyceride-rich lipoprotein(TRL) particles,termed chylomicrons(CMs),following ingestion of a fat-containing meal,as well as in the fasting state.Along with elevated hepatic TRLs(i.e.very-low density lipoproteins),CMs contribute to remnant lipoprotein accumulation,small dense LDL particles,and reduced HDL-C,which collectively increase CVD risk.Given the early genesis of atherosclerosis and physiological metabolic changes during adolescence,studying postprandial dyslipidemia in the adolescent population is an important area of study.Postprandial dyslipidemia in the pediatric population poses a significant public health concern,warranting a better understanding of its pathogenesis and association with insulin resistance and CVD.This review discusses the metabolic syndrome,focusing on the link between insulin resistance,postprandial dyslipidemia,and CVD risk.Furthermore,the clinical significance and functional assessment of postprandial dyslipidemia,specifically in the adolescent population,is discussed in more detail. | Victoria Higgins Khosrow Adeli | 2020 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2020,34,5: | 2 |
