1基于原子力显微镜的沥青微观结构研究显示文摘采用原子力显微镜和均方根粗糙度参数研究了沥青种类、短期老化以及制样过程中冷却速率对沥青微观结构的影响。结果表明,不同沥青的蜂状结构尺寸、数量不尽相同,对短期老化的敏感性也不相同,而制样过程中冷却速率对蜂状结构的影响十分显著;同时,在沥青表面应力松弛过程中,不同区域的蜡链排列倾角存在差异是蜂状结构呈正弦波形式(波长约为500nm)的原因。根据相分离理论分析实验现象后得出,沥青质及胶质与蜡之间的相互作用是影响沥青相分离行为的重要因素。杨军 龚明辉 PAULI Troy 魏建明 王潇婷 2015石油学报(石油加工)2015,31,4:36

6Tracking desertification on the Mongolian steppe through NDVI and field-survey data显示文摘Changing environmental and socio-economic conditions make land degradation,a major concern in Central and East Asia.Globally satellite imagery,particularly Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)data,has proved an effective tool for monitoring land cover change.This study examines 33 grassland water points using vegetation field studies and remote sensing techniques to track desertification on the Mongolian plateau.Findings established a significant correlation between same-year field observation(line transects)and NDVI data,enabling an historical land cover perspective to be developed from 1998 to 2006.Results show variable land cover patterns in Mongolia with a 16%decrease in plant density over the time period.Decline in cover identified by NDVI suggests degradation;however,continued annual fluctuation indicates desertificationirreversible land cover changehas not occurred.Further,in situ data documenting greater cover near water points implies livestock overgrazing is not causing degradation at water sources.In combination of the two research methodsremote sensing and field surveysstrengthen findings and provide an effective way to track desertification in dryland regions.Troy Sternberg Renchin Tsolmon Nicholas Middleton David Thomas 2011International Journal of Digital Earth2011,4,1:11
7Friction of Alloys at High Temperature显示文摘A brief review is given about the friction and wear properties of high temperature alloys. Above a critical temperature, if the oxide becomes ductile, it will flow over the surface and prevent metal-to-metat contact. In order to study the tribology of oxide lubrication. a series of tests were carried out using Cu(ReO4)2 as a lubricant. The effects of time. Surface finish. substrates. load and temperature were investigated. 83种植物源引诱剂对鞘翅目甲虫引诱效果比较显示文摘【目的】比较3种植物源引诱剂对鞘翅目甲虫在2种林型中的引诱效果,以期筛选出高效引诱剂防治甲虫的危害。【方法】选择天然次生林(老山实验站样地)和人工纯林(林场样地)使用Lindgren漏斗诱捕器进行3种植物源引诱剂的林间诱捕试验,统计2种样地诱捕甲虫的数量、种类,比较不同林型不同样地间诱捕效果,分析环境条件对鞘翅目甲虫引诱和诱捕器释放量的影响。【结果】1)3种植物源引诱剂UHR,COB和LAP对鞘翅目甲虫均具有引诱作用,捕获的3 215号鞘翅目昆虫隶属于55科120属,其中小蠹科占48.93%,为优势鞘翅目类群。3种引诱剂诱捕效果依次为UHR>COB>LAP,其中UHR引诱剂引诱个体数占74.21%,小蠹科个体数占48.65%,优势种为北方材小蠹和锉小蠹。2)UHR引诱剂对于小蠹科、叩甲科、郭公虫科和埋葬甲科的引诱效果显著高于COB和LAP引诱剂。COB引诱剂在两样地中捕获隐翅虫科数量最高。然而3种引诱剂对象甲科和天牛科的诱捕差异性不显著。防治时,应针对不同种类甲虫选择不同种类引诱剂,能达到更佳引诱效果。3)2种林型诱捕效果综合比较,老山实验站样地>林场样地,表明植被类型及自然条件对昆虫种群多样性具有直接影响。埋葬甲科仅在老山实验站样地捕获,这与该科昆虫的生活习性和样地环境相关。【结论】UHR引诱剂对鞘翅目小蠹科昆虫具有较强的引诱作用,可进一步开发应用于林间小蠹虫的监测和防治,为小蠹虫的无公害防治提供了1种新方法。刘璇 胡春祥 曹传旺 Troy Kimoto 2016林业科学2016,52,10:10
9Machine learning enabled autonomous microstructural characterization in 3D samples显示文摘We introduce an unsupervised machine learning(ML)based technique for the identification and characterization of microstructures in three-dimensional(3D)samples obtained from molecular dynamics simulations,particle tracking data,or experiments.Our technique combines topology classification,image processing,and clustering algorithms,and can handle a wide range of microstructure types including grains in polycrystalline materials,voids in porous systems,and structures from self/directed assembly in soft-matter complex solutions.Our technique does not require a priori microstructure description of the target system and is insensitive to disorder such as extended defects in polycrystals arising from line and plane defects.We demonstrate quantitively that our technique provides unbiased microstructural information such as precise quantification of grains and their size distributions in 3D polycrystalline samples,characterizes features such as voids and porosity in 3D polymeric samples and micellar size distribution in 3D complex fluids.To demonstrate the efficacy of our ML approach,we benchmark it against a diverse set of synthetic data samples representing nanocrystalline metals,polymers and complex fluids as well as experimentally published characterization data.Our technique is computationally efficient and provides a way to quickly identify,track,and quantify complex microstructural features that impact the observed material behavior.Henry Chan Mathew Cherukara Troy D.Loeffler Badri Narayanan Subramanian K.R.S.Sankaranarayanan 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:5
10Recent advances in the diagnostic evaluation of pancreatic cystic lesions显示文摘Pancreatic cystic lesions(PCLs)are becoming more prevalent due to more frequent abdominal imaging and the increasing age of the general population.It has become crucial to identify these PCLs and subsequently risk stratify them to guide management.Given the high morbidity associated with pancreatic surgery,only those PCLs at high risk for malignancy should undergo such treatment.However,current diagnostic testing is suboptimal at accurately diagnosing and risk stratifying PCLs.Therefore,research has focused on developing new techniques for differentiating mucinous from non-mucinous PCLs and identifying high risk lesions for malignancy.Cross sectional imaging radiomics can potentially improve the predictive accuracy of primary risk stratification of PCLs at the time of detection to guide invasive testing.While cyst fluid glucose has reemerged as a potential biomarker,cyst fluid molecular markers have improved accuracy for identifying specific types of PCLs.Endoscopic ultrasound guided approaches such as confocal laser endomicroscopy and through the needle microforceps biopsy have shown a good correlation with histopathological findings and are evolving techniques for identifying and risk stratifying PCLs.While most of these recent diagnostics are only practiced at selective tertiary care centers,they hold a promise that management of PCLs will only get better in the future.Devarshi R Ardeshna Troy Cao Brandon Rodgers Chidiebere Onongaya Dan Jones Wei Chen Eugene J Koay Somashekar G Krishna 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,6:3

13Energy retrofit and conservation of a historic building using multi-objective optimization and an analytic hierarchy process显示文摘When deciding on the best historic building retrofit,energy savings and thermal comfort can be quantitatively evaluated using an energy model,whereas conservation compatibility is intrinsically qualitative and reflects the perspective of the local heritage authority. We present a methodology that permits finding and comparing optimal retrofits for historic buildings in a multi-perspective and quantitative way. We use an analytic hierarchyprocess to quantify conservation compatibility by distilling a conservation score from the opinions of 10 experts in the field. This score,along with energy needs for heating and cooling and thermal comfort,are the three targets of a multi-objective optimization aimed at identifying optimal retrofits for a medieval building in the north of Italy,destined to become a museum. Retrofit measures considered were different kinds of external and internal envelope insulation,improvement of airtightness,replacement of windows,and ventilative cooling. The result is a portfolio of optimal retrofits that cover the whole range of conservation compatibility. We showthat in the analyzed case heritage preservation is compatible with a four-fold reduction in energy needs at a high thermal comfort level. 14Sleep disordered breathing in interstitial lung disease: A review显示文摘Patients with interstitial lung disease commonly exhibit abnormal sleep architecture and increased sleep fragmentation on polysomnography. Fatigue is a frequent complaint, and it is likely that poor sleep quality is a significant contributor. A number of studies have shown that sleep disordered breathing is prevalent in this population, particularly in the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis subgroup. The factors that predispose these patients to obstructive sleep apnoea are not well understood, however it is believed that reduced caudal traction on the upper airway can enhance collapsibility. Ventilatory control system instability may also be an important factor, particularly in those with increased chemo-responsiveness, and in hypoxic conditions. Transient, repetitive nocturnal oxygen desaturation is frequently observed in interstitial lung disease, both with and without associated obstructive apnoeas. 16Inverse design of metasurfaces with non-local interactions显示文摘Conventional metasurfaces have demonstrated efficient wavefront manipulation by using thick and high-aspect-ratio nanostructures in order to eliminate interactions between adjacent phase-shifter elements.Thinner-than-wavelength dielectric metasurfaces are highly desirable because they can facilitate fabrication and integration with both electronics and mechanically tunable platforms.Unfortunately,because their constitutive phase-shifter elements exhibit strong electromagnetic coupling between neighbors,the design requires a global optimization methodology that considers the non-local interactions.Here,we propose a global evolutionary optimization approach to inverse design non-local metasurfaces.The optimal designs are experimentally validated,demonstrating the highest efficiencies for the thinnest transmissive metalenses reported to-date for visible light.In a departure from conventional design methods based on the search of a library of pre-determined and independent meta-atoms,we take full advantage of the strong interactions among nanoresonators to improve the focusing efficiency of metalenses and demonstrate that efficiency improvements can be obtained by lowering the metasurface filling factors.Haogang Cai Srilok Srinivasan David A.Czaplewski Alex B.F.Martinson David J.Gosztola Liliana Stan Troy Loeffler Subramanian K.R.S.Sankaranarayanan Daniel López 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:2
