1Hypoxia-stressed cardiomyocytes promote early cardiac differentiation of cardiac stem cells through HIF-1α/Jagged1/Notch1 signaling显示文摘Hypoxia is beneficial for the differentiation of stem cells transplanted for myocardial injury,but mechanisms underlying this benefit remain unsolved. Here, we report the impact of hypoxia-induced Jagged1 expression in cardiomyocytes(CMs) for driving the differentiation of cardiac stem cells(CSCs).Forced hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α) expression and physical hypoxia(5% O_2) treatment could induce Jagged1 expression in neonatal rat CMs. Pharmacological inhibition of HIF-1α by YC-1 attenuated hypoxia-promoted Jagged1 expression in CMs. An ERK inhibitor(PD98059), but not inhibitors of JNK(SP600125), Notch(DAPT), NF-κB(PTDC), JAK(AG490), or STAT3(Stattic) suppressed hypoxiainduced Jagged1 protein expression in CMs. c-Kit^+ CSCs isolated from neonatal rat hearts using a magnetic-activated cell sorting method expressed GATA4, SM22α or vWF, but not Nkx2.5 and cTnI.Moreover, 87.3% of freshly isolated CSCs displayed Notch1 receptor expression. Direct co-culture of CMs with BrdU-labeled CSCs enhanced CSCs differentiation, as evidenced by an increased number of BrdU^+/Nkx2.5^+ cells, while intermittent hypoxia for 21 days promoted co-culture-triggered differentiation of CSCs into CM-like cells. 3Abnormal strain changes observed by a borehole strainmeter at Guza Station before the Ms7. 0 Lushan earthquake显示文摘Several days before the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake,the YRY-4 borehole Strainmeter at Guza Station recorded prominent abnormal changes.The strain anomalies are very striking on the smooth background of several years’recording after the Wenchuan earthquake.However,because construction in the town of Guza has been undergoing rapid development in recent years,many factors have interfered with observations at the station.Whether or not the observed strain changes before the Lushan earthquake were affected by any of the sources of interference becomes a question that must be answered.Among the likely sources of interference,apartment construction,sportsground reconstruction,and tunnel cutting can be excluded by analyzing the morphological characteristic of the anomalies.The two remaining most possible sources are road construction in front of the station and the water level change of the nearby Dadu River caused by water filling into and discharging from an upstream reservoir.Through field investigation,comparison of the correlation between the strain and the seismographic recordings,comparison of the correlation between the strain and the Dadu River flow recordings,and analysis of the strain anomaly characteristics,we conclude that the abnormal changes observed at Guza Station cannot be attributed to either of these two sources but should be related to the Lushan earthquake.Qiu Zehua Yang Guang Tang Lei Guo Yanping Zhang Baohong 2013Geodesy and Geodynamics2013,4,3:4

6The strain seismograms of P- and S-waves of a local event recorded by four-gauge borehole strainmeter显示文摘At a sampling rate of 100 samples per second,the YRY-4 four-gauge borehole strainmeters(FGBS) are capable of recording transient strains caused by seismic waves such as P and S waves or strain seismograms. At such a high sampling rate, data from the YRY-4 strainmeters demonstrate fairly satisfactory self-consistency. The strain tensor seismograms demonstrate the senses of motion of P waves, that is, the type of seismic wave travels in the direction of the maximum normal strain change. The observed strain patterns of S waves significantly differ from those of P waves and should contain information about the source mechanism. 7Effects of Shuanghuanglian Propolis Oral Liquid on Growth Performance,Slaughter Performance and Meat Quality of Broilers显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to investigate the effects of adding Shuanghuanglian propolis oral liquid in drinking water on growth performance,slaughter performance and meat quality of broilers. 9Effects of Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) and Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) medicated serum on chemotactic migration of alveolar macrophages and inters regions macrophages in rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of serum containing Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) or Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) on the migration of alveolar macrophages(AM) and interstitial macrophages(IM) from normal rats, and to analyze and compare the mechanisms leading to cell migration differences.METHODS: Rats were randomly divided into three groups: Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica), Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis), and blank serum. After treatment with the herbs, serum was extracted from the rats. AM and IM were isolated from normal rats and cultured. The effects of Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) and Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) medicated serum on normal rat AM and IM chemotactic migration were determined by transwell assays. The CC chemokine receptor(CCR) 2, CCR5, voltage-gated Kvl. 3 K^+channel(Kv1. 3), and voltage-gated Kvl. 5 K^+channel(Kv1. 5) protein levels were analyzed by western blotting.RESULTS: The migration quantities of AM and IM in the Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) and Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) medicated serum groups were significantly higher than those in the blank serum group(P < 0.01). Compared with the Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) medicated serum group, the migration quantity of cultured rat AM in the Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) medicated serum group was significantly increased(P <0.01). Meanwhile, compared with the Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) medicated serum group, the migration quantity of cultured rat IM in the Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) medicated serum group was significantly increased(P < 0.01).CCR2, CCR5, Kv1. 3, and Kv1. 5 proteins were expressed on the AM cell surface, and showed significantly higher expression in the Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) medicated serum group compared with the Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis)medicated serum group. In contrast, CCR5, Kv1.3,and Kv1.5 proteins were expressed on the IM cell surface, and showed significantly higher expression in the Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis)medicated serum group compared with the Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) medicated serum group.CONCLUSION: Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica)and Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) can promote AM and IM migration ability, with Mahuang(Herba Ephedra Sinica) targeting AM more apparently and Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) targeting IM more apparently. 10Filtration characteristics of granular bed with layered drawers for removing dust from gas streams显示文摘Filtration tests were conducted on a granular bed filter with layered drawers filled with corundum particles with sizes between either 1 mm and 1.5 mm or 2 mm and 3 mm or with quartz sand particles with sizes between 0.125 mm and 1.5 mm.Filtration velocity,filter particle thickness,and filter particle size were all found to influence the filtration efficiency and the pressure drop of both the fixed granular bed and the layered-drawer granular bed.Granular strata with different thickness ratios also strongly influenced the filtration efficiency and pressure drop.For a granular bed with two sizes of filter particles,the coarse granules in the upper layer capture dust with large particle sizes,while the fine granules in the lower layer capture dust with smaller particle sizes that passes through the filter cake and upper layer.Optimal operating conditions were determined at which the filtration efficiency was found to be 99.42%with a bed pressure drop of 320 Pa.Shaowu Yin Xu Wang Yanping Guo Li Wang 2021Particuology2021,19,2:3
11Dissipative particle dynamics thermostat: a novel thermostat for molecular dynamics simulation of liquid crystals with Gay–Berne potential显示文摘The Gay–Berne(GB) model has been proved to be highly successful in the simulation of liquid crystal phases via both molecular dynamics(MD) and nonequilibrium molecular dynamics(NEMD). However, the conventional thermostats used in the simulations of GB systems, such as Nosé–Hoover and Langevin thermostats, have serious shortcomings especially in NEMD simulations. Recently, dissipative particle dynamics(DPD) has established itself as a useful thermostat for soft matter simulations, whereas the application of DPD thermostat in(NE)MD simulations is limited to the spherically isotropic potential models, such as the Lennard–Jones model. Considering the virtues of the DPD thermostat, that is, local, momentum conserved, and Galilean invariant, we extend the DPD thermostat to the non-spherical GB model. It is interesting to find that the translational DPD and rotational DPD thermostats can be used in the GB system independently and both can achieve the thermostatting effects. Also, we compared the performance of the DPD thermostat with other commonly used thermostats in NEMD simulations by investigating the streaming velocity profiles and the dynamics of phase separation in a typical but simple binary GB mixture under shear field. It is revealed that the known virtues of DPD thermostats, such as Galilean invariant, shear velocity profile-unbiased, and unscreened hydrodynamic interactions, are still intact when applying to GB systems. 12Dopaminergic Neurons in the Ventral Tegmental–Prelimbic Pathway Promote the Emergence of Rats from Sevoflurane Anesthesia显示文摘Dopaminergic neurons in the ventral tegmental area(VTA)play an important role in cognition,emergence from anesthesia,reward,and aversion,and their projection to the cortex is a crucial part of the'bottom-up'ascending activating system.The prelimbic cortex(PrL)is one of the important projection regions of the VTA.However,the roles of dopaminergic neurons in the VTA and the VTADA–PrL pathway under sevoflurane anesthesia in rats remain unclear.In this study,we found that intraperitoneal injection and local microinjection of a dopamine D1 receptor agonist(Chloro-APB)into the PrL had an emergence-promoting effect on sevoflurane anesthesia in rats,while injection of a dopamine D1 receptor antagonist(SCH23390)deepened anesthesia.The results of chemogenetics combined with microinjection and optogenetics showed that activating the VTADA–PrL pathway prolonged the induction time and shortened the emergence time of anesthesia.These results demonstrate that the dopaminergic system in the VTA has an emergence-promoting effect and that the bottom-up VTADA–PrL pathway facilitates emergence from sevoflurane anesthesia.Yanping Song Ruitong Chu Fuyang Cao Yanfeng Wang Yanhong Liu Jiangbei Cao Yongxin Guo Weidong Mi Li Tong 2022Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,4:3

15Direct demonstration of carrier distribution and recombination within step-bunched UV-LEDs显示文摘AlGaN-based solid state UV emitters have many advantages over conventional UV sources. However, UV-LEDs still suffer from numerous challenges, including low quantum efficiency compared to their blue LED counterparts. One of the inherent reasons is a lack of carrier localization effect inside fully miscible AlGaN alloys. In the pursuit of phase separation and carrier localization inside the active region of AlGaN UV-LED, utilization of highly misoriented substrates proves to be useful, yet the carrier distribution and recombination mechanism in such structures has seldom been reported. In this paper, a UV-LED with step-bunched surface morphology was designed and fabricated, and the internal mechanism of high internal quantum efficiency was studied in detail. The correlation between microscale current distribution and surface morphology was provided, directly demonstrating that current prefers to flow through the step edges of the epitaxial layers. Experimental results were further supported by numerical simulation. It was found that efficient radiative recombination centers were formed in the inclined quantum well regions. A schematic three-dimensional energy band structure of the multiple quantum wells(MQWs) across the step was proposed and helps in further understanding the luminescence behavior of LEDs grown on misoriented substrates. 16External application of a Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers显示文摘Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most severe complications of diabetes that have imposed great financial and psychological burdens on diabetic patients.A Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton(Nr-CWS)can be externally applied to accelerate wound healing.However,its clinical application has not yet been reported.Herein,we report two patients with diabetic foot ulcers treated with Nr-CWS.After wound debridement,the wound was covered with a sterile cotton ball infiltrated with an Nr-CWS that was diluted with 2.0 mL of saline.The covers were changed every two days until complete wound healing occurred.The two wounds healed after 3 and 12 weeks,respectively.This article aims to provide a new treatment for diabetic foot ulcers,with the hope that physicians may consider an Nr-CWS as a complementary method for the treatment of chronic wounds.Caiqi Shen Wuhan Wei Aijun Zhang Changbo Tao Xueyang Li Yanping Guo Hanxiao Wei Qiang Li Peisheng Jin 2022Chinese Journal Of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery2022,4,1:2
17Effects of water stress on quality and sugar metabolism in'Gala'apple fruit显示文摘Sugar plays an important role in apple fruit development,appearance and quality as well as contributing to a plant’s water stress response.Trehalose and the trehalose biosynthetic metabolic pathways are part of the sugar signaling system in plants,which are important regulator of water stress response in apple.The effect of water stress treatments applied to apple trees and the corresponding effects of ABA on developmental fruit quality were examined for indicators of fruit quality during fruit development.The results indicated that the severe water stress treatment(W2)occurring after the last stage of fruit cell division caused a decrease in the color and size of fruit.The moderate water stress(W1)occurring after the last stage of fruit cell enlargement(S2)caused an increase in the content of fructose and sorbitol while the apple fruit shape was not affected.These changes in sugar are related to the activity of sugar metabolic enzymes.While the enzymatic activity of vacuolar acid invertase(vAINV)was higher,that of sucrose-phosphate synthase(SPS)was lower in water stress treated fruit throughout the developmental period.This indicates that enhanced sucrose degradation and reduced sucrose synthesis leads to an overall reduced sucrose content during times of drought.Thus,water stress reduced sucrose content.Whereas the content of endogenous trehalose and ABA were the highest in water stress treated fruit.A moderate water stress(W1)imposed on apple trees via water restriction(60%–65%of field capacity)after the fruit cell enlargement phase of fruit development yielded sweeter fruit of higher economic value.Hongxia Tao Hanqing Sun Yufei Wang Xin Wang Yanping Guo 2023Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1:2
18An oncolytic adenovirus delivering TSLC1 inhibits Wnt signaling pathway and tumor growth in SMMC-7721 xenograft mice model显示文摘Tumor suppressor in lung cancer-1(TSLC1)was first identified as a tumor suppressor for lung cancer,and frequently downregulated in various types of cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The Wnt pathway plays a critical role in tumorigenesis,migration,and invasion in HCC.However,the function of TSLC1 in modulating Wnt signaling in HCC is unclear.In this study,we evaluated the effect of TSLC1-armed oncolytic adenovirus(S24-TSLC1)on the Wnt/β-catenin pathway,cell viability,invasion and migration abilities of HCC in vitro and the growth of SMMC-7721-xenografted tumor in mice model.We detected the expression of TSLC1 in tumor samples and HCC cell lines.The results showed that TSLC1 expression was low in HCC,but high in pericarcinomatous tissue and normal cells,which implied that TSLC1 is a tumor suppressor of liver cancer.S24-TSLC1 exhibited an antitumor effect on HCC cell growth in vitro,but did little damage to normal liver cells.Overexpression of TSLC1 downregulated the transcriptional activity of TCF4/β-catenin and inhibited the mRNA or protein expression of Wnt target genes cyclinD1 and c-myc.S24-TSLC1 also inhibited the invasion and migration of HCC cells.Animal experiments further confirmed that S24-TSLC1 significantly inhibited tumor growth of the SMMC-7721-xenografted tumor.In conclusion,TSLC1 could downregulate the Wnt signal pathway and suppress HCC cell growth,migration and invasion,suggesting that S24-TSLC1 may be a potent antitumor agent for future clinical trials in liver cancer treatment.Yigang Wang Panpan Huang Yanping Hu Keni Guo Xiaoyuan Jia Biao Huang Xinyuan Liu Xianglei He Fang Huang 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,6:2
